Dear incurious dupes, stooges, patsies, pawns, chumps, rubes and suckers of the Climate Change Denial Industry: Please study the animated GIF below (courtesy of Skeptical Science) carefully.

That chart could help you become less of an incurious dupe, stooge, patsy, pawn, chump, rube and/or sucker of the Climate Change Denial Industry, which is the fully-owned subsidiary of the Fossil Fuel Industry, which also happens to be the most profitable industry in the history of civilization. (Remember that whole "follow the money!" thing you folks like to parrot when you believe you're being clever and think you're debunking global warming, but are actually only debunking yourselves? Yes, please do "follow the money" in this case. No, the money ain't going to the scientists, it's going to the Fossil Fuel Industry. If scientists were only interested in money, they'd be making the big bucks working for the Fossil Fuel Industry which is dying to pay for science that discredits global warming!)

But, I suspect you aren't really worried about continuously embarrassing yourselves at this point, now that you've surrounded yourselves with similarly incurious dupes who support the confirmation bias you seek for your disinformed contrarianist blather on a daily basis.

Yes, the dupes, stooges, etc., have a fresh scam they've fallen for this week, which they've been spreading broadly amongst themselves and others of late. It stems from a wildly (and purposefully) misleading article by David Rose in the British tabloid Mail on Sunday with this purposely misleading headline (the only part of the article, if any, that the dupes and stooges likely bothered to read anyway):

Of course, you'll be stunned to learn that both the headline and article are misleading (at best) and that the incurious dupes, stooges, pawns, chumps, rubes and suckers of the Climate Change Denial Industry have nonetheless, as usual, fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

I debunked it cursorily during the very top of yesterday's Green News Report, but could only touch on it very quickly given the time constraints of the radio podcast. Seeing as how this latest con is being touted in the wingnut media, it deserves a slightly more detailed response here as well --- if only for future reference, as these phony denialist memes live on (and on and on) for some time in the denalist community, like herpes, no matter how thoroughly they are debunked.

"Global warming, yes, it's finally dead!," incurious dupe Greg Gutfeld of Fox "News" embarrassingly and inaccurately declared this week in trumpeting the Mail article, followed with this insanely inaccurate assertion...

If you missed the MSNBC/Chris Hayes documentary The Politics of Power on August 16, you may never have the chance to see it again in its entirety.

Sure, you can watch the final fifty-nine seconds of the documentary on MSNBC.com, and a four-minute clip from the program, plus a few "web extras". But, for some reason, the rest of the special --- a rare hour-long cable news documentary on the climate crisis and its fossil fuel industry-funded deniers --- has yet to be posted online. Anywhere. At least anywhere that we were able to find.

The BRAD BLOG has made repeated inquires to MSNBC, as well as to Chris Hayes and whoever monitors All In's Twitter feed, as to why the documentary, which aired during Hayes' normal All in With Chris Hayes time slot, has not been made available in full online. That, despite the fact that Rachel Maddow's documentary, Hubris: Selling the Iraq War, was posted on MSNBC.com almost immediately after it first aired on February 18, 2013. As of this writing, we have yet to receive a response from MSNBC or Hayes or All In as to whether or when the doc might be made available online, or why it hasn't been so far.

Now, why would that be?...

There is no such thing as a Republican politician who reads the New York Times.

That's the obvious takeaway from the events of August 2, as the GOP-controlled House cast a symbolic vote against the concept of a carbon tax just hours after the Times published an op-ed written by Republican-appointed former EPA administrators William Ruckelshaus, Lee Thomas, William Reilly and Christine Todd Whitman calling for such a tax, and otherwise for the GOP to join President Obama in taking aggressive action to reduce carbon emissions before it's too late.

One wonders why Ruckelshaus (the very first head of the EPA, as appointed by leftist EPA creator President Richard Nixon), Thomas, Reilly and Whitman even bothered to write this op-ed. After all, they are calling upon Republicans to embrace policy.

Has it not been finally proven that the Republican Party --- the party I belonged to for fifteen years --- no longer cares about policy? And, to ask the even more obviously rhetorical question: do they not realize that in 2013, "Republican environmentalist" is as much of a logical falsehood as "clean coal"?...

Okay. He didn't use the word "bullshit". But, other than that, good news: At least we now know that Obama knows the jobs claims and gas price claims made by the Keystone XL pipeline proponents are bullshit.

So, "maybe 2,000 jobs during the construction of the pipeline...and then after that we’re talking about somewhere between 50 and 100 [chuckles] jobs in a economy of 150 million working people." Good to see the President's people actually allowed him to notice that very key point that has otherwise been allowed to become, until now, a key talking point for the fossil-fuel industry spokesmen that are Fox "News" and the Republicans (and too many Democrats.)

By way of comparison to reality, here are the kind of lies the Republican leadership are still telling about this. Rep. Eric Cantor lied to his brain-dead followers on his official House Majority Leader webpage just this past week by listing "Three Ways to Immediately Grow Jobs and Strengthen the Middle Class". His very first suggested "way" [emphasis added]...

"20,000 direct and 100,000 indirect jobs"? Really, Mr. Cantor? Because the independent Cornell Global Labor Institute report on this [PDF] finds that the data from the actual owners of the pipeline, TransCanada, seriously dispute that claim. "Based on the figures provided by TransCanada for the Canadian section of the pipeline," the report explains, "the new permanent US pipeline jobs in the US number as few as 50."

And, just to repeat the earlier point, Cantor isn't a Fox "News" anchor, he is the Republican Majority Leader in the U.S. House of Representatives. We're screwed.
