Pacifica is one of the most unique broadcasting operations anywhere because in an otherwise commercially or government sponsored broadcasting landscape, the Pacifica stations operate on a different model --- they are listener sponsored. So they are not at the beck and call of corporations or governments. By religiously avoiding corporate and/or governmental "underwriting", Pacifica has maintained it's intellectual integrity and has routinely been "Speaking truth to power".

The Pacifica Archive represents the historical record of the intellectual honesty and integrity that makes the Pacifica stations the national treasure they truly are.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of our invasion of Iraq, we should remember that only the Pacifica radio stations and and a few independant web sites in this country were able to provide honest coverage of the truly massive protests against the impending Iraq war which took place both in this country and around the world. The Pacifica archives should have contemporaneous copies of the broadcasts of the Pacifica radio stations in their coverage of those protests.
