More poor since the turn of the century? Let’s see now, who “took” office around the turn of the century?
Alan:
The Oscar video has been removed. What did Ellen say?
Larry, I just saw the video so it’s up. Why do they stop at a dollar under 10K a year? No totals on the families of 4 earning $10,001.00..I guess that two bucks now makes you middle class right? Now you have enough to cover rent and feed the kids…OR NOT !!! There is no word to discribe how disgusting this is, evil comes close.
Ellen’s Oscar clip was there a minute ago. She commented on how Jennifer Hudson was on American Idol and America DIDN’T vote for her and yet she is here tonight with an Oscar nomination. And Al Gore is here, America DID vote for him, and then …very complicated!
I thought it was hilarious. Only in the sense that she really hit it on the head – WE DID vote him into office and unlike the Oscars, the one with the most votes didn’t win. A great irony expressed well by Ellen and everybody was laughing, especially Al and Tipper. [I recognize it isn’t REALLY funny that Gore isn’t president and Bush is – but every now and then we have to be able to have a laugh at our own expense.]
BTW, An Inconvenient Truth won at least two (maybe more) awards last night. A great night for Gore and for the “Green” movement in general.
I think this is the first Oscar night since Michael Moore’s famous truth-telling incident that nobody has said something negative about Bush. They didn’t need to. Al Gore’s towering presence SAID IT ALL!
Also loved the skit with Jack Black!
this is a great oscar format and ellen was great! it was not dry at all and i never wanted to watch the next oscar in the past but if she’s hosting next year, i will watch. a lot of her humors need your understanding on movies and the movie industry and i loved it! go ellen!
