The dems have to rip Bush and the Neocons a brand new a**hole!
Like, Right Now!
I’m watching Pelosi getting voted in as House Speaker, and Playing
Neil Young/Living With War.
Let’s Impeach The President For Lyin’
and misleading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door…………

Every picture I've seen of Hastert today makes him look as if he is enjoying the Democrats' victory. I know that seems odd, but he looks pleased to me. Maybe he's not a total villain. Or. He is, and he's just stoned.

I am reading around the blogosphere that this is a day of rejoicing and celebration. I do have hopes that things go well for the Dems, but I seriously doubt they will.
LA Times has an article online about the resurgence of the NeoCon advisory board which probably had a hand in the removal of the Generals Abizaid and Casey, and who were among those most eager to push Bush into a war of choice from the beginning. They still see it as a matter of tactical emphasis and ineffective management. They enable to Bush to think he still might have a chance to pull it out. They are advising the President in favor of troop escalation and a program of "winning the hearts and minds" of the Iraqis outside the Green Zone by agressive counter-insurgency.
The NeoCon media mouthpieces are gearing up to shut out Dem coverage and shout down Dem legislation at every opportunity. I hope Media Matters continues to track both Dem and Repub evasions, count how many of whom get air time, and help us distinguish who is pressing for fairness and truth.
Elsewhere in the blogosphere, some are content to wait and see if the Dems can in fact compel testimony from the Executive Branch in any number of relevant investigations (a read of John Dean's thoughts at Findlaw is well worth your time).
I believe the next year is going to be very, very ugly. The posters here are correct when they say Dems will have to be forcefully reminded why they were put into the Majority.

Is it less than 45 degrees?
Then why is the FAT guy on the right got both his hands in his pockets?
He's prolly clicking on some transmitter to change the logic in the electronic voting machines.
Or is he ...? Nevermind, it's disgusting to think about that~
Do they replace the seat cushions after someone like that leaves office?!
Phew--Get rid of that ass smell.

Though Hastert might have been smiling, it was noted on Franken this morning that it was Boehner, not Hastert that handed the gavel to Pelosi. This was noted as what appears to be a rather petty gesture, as symbolically it really should have been Hastert doing this instead. They noted that when the Dems passed the baton to Gingrich, that the reason that the House Majority Leader passed the gavel to Gingrich was due to the Speaker of the House no longer serving in that body when it started it's new session then.
Speaking of pics of "Fat Bastert", here's one that you might enjoy I made a few months back. The squeemish might not want to look at it though.
