That was GREAT!!!
I love the second comment, too:
"If Gore were any hotter, he'd be global warming"!!
Ok, gee...I guess this is the perfect thread to post these new lyrics for 'Simpy Irresistible' (a song I blast when I'm alone in the car, for which my children rib me mercilessly).
I sent them to a few band-related people hoping somebody'd actually record it because I'd really love to hear it belted out proper...but since my delusions of grandeur have failed to materialize, here you go...with apologies to Robert Palmer:
'Tell Me They're Impeachable'
How can it be permissable
They compromised our principles
This kind of crime is mythical
It's anything but typical
They're all crazy of course
They're a powerful force
We're obliged to conform
They say there's no other course
Incarceration sounds good to me!
You gotta tell me
Tell me they're impeachable
Tell me they're impeachable
They think that they're so powerful
They think we're all exploitable
This trend ain't irreversible
These clowns are not invincible
Thumb their nose at the law, thought they'd leave us
in awe
We got probable cause, we won't surrender because
Yeah prison sounds good to me
You gotta tell me
Tell me they're impeachable
They gotta be impeachable
(Tell me they're impeachable)
So much crime, there's no tellin' where the money went
(Tell me they're impeachable)
They'll do time, there's no other way to go
It's unavoidable, we're backed against the wall
They make me crazy like I never felt before
They're breaking promises, they're breakin' every law
Prison's too GOOD for them
You GOTTA tell me
Tell me they're impeachable
(Tell me they're impeachable)
So much crime, there's no tellin' where the money went
(Tell me they're impeachable)
Honey, they'll do time, there's no other way to go
Their methods are inscrutable
The proof is irrefutable
They gotta be indictable
This fight's completely fightable
They're all crazy of course
They're a powerful force
We're obliged to conform
They say there's no other course
Yeah, prison sounds good to me
You gotta tell me
Tell me they're impeachable
I KNOW they are impeachable!
(Tell me they're impeachable)
So much crime, there's no tellin' where the money went
(Tell me they're impeachable)
Oh honey, they'll do time, there's
no other way to go
Baby, they're impeachable!

Seems that global warming just might be hidden from us by Bushco (as if we didn't already know) Link

According to the NYT, the majority of americans are in danger of becoming "conspiracy buffs" (link here).
That is the way it always is in dictatorships.

oh, ricky, ricky, ricky.... read this and think about it for a moment:
"Gardiner believes that this formulation, which first entered the official vernacular a week after the invasion began, was a skillful execution of a classic propaganda technique known as the “excluded middle.” The excluded middle is premised on the idea that people, provided with incomplete but suggestive information, will draw false assumptions — in this case that Saddam Hussein had ties to terrorism and therefore to Al Qaeda (a connection that administration officials actively pushed during the run-up to the war).
.....
Arraf’s observation reveals an interesting dimension of this war: it has become, in part, a contest over the framing of reality, and thus a hall of mirrors for the press."
the Gore statements you quote above do not have the effect you wish --- Gore's credibility remains intact, since intelligent folks are able to distinguish between the lies advanced by the deceptive, pro-war criminals at BushCo and the public statements of someone like Gore, who was no longer in public office at the time and therefore no longer privy to the real and factual information coming out of the CIA that proved Saddam did NOT possess WMDs, was NOT a threat, NOT involved in 9/11 in any way, and NOT allied with Al Q in any way whatsoever.
Gore, like many people, believed the professional crooks at BushCo when they said they had conclusive, although "secret", information that proved their case to go to war (the 'excluded middle'), that we had to just 'trust' them.
too late, we now know the only real WMDs were the "Dubya MDs", like the song says.
now we all know that BushCo lied through their teeth, and now over 100,000 people and counting are dead, Iraq is experiencing its deadliest month for innocent civilians yet, directly as a result of those lies --- lies that you gleefully perpetuate, ricky, every day.
it sucks being a tool of war criminals, ricky. their propaganda campaign has worked exceptionally well on you. it is a shame that you can't tell the difference, and even more of a shame that many more people will be maimed and killed, and countless families will be decimated, as the repercussions of this war of lies reverberate throughout the world for decades to come.
how many people will die before you stop and think for yourself, ricky? are you really okay with that?

Joan:
This is weird. A couple of weeks ago I was thinking about lyrics for that same song by Robert Palmer concerning global warming. I even got on the internet to see if I could find something. The video used to be on You-Tube, but apparently somebody forced them to take it down.
Anyway, I was going to call mine, "Simply Unsustainable".
I think Pink Floyd's best album is "Animals". What a band!
