mal·fea·sance
Pronunciation: "mal-'fE-z&n(t)s Etymology: mal- + obsolete feasance doing, execution
: wrongdoing or misconduct especially by a public official
From>http://straylight.law.cornell.edu/anncon/html/art2frag42_user.html
The President’s Subordinates. — While the courts may be unable to compel the President to act or to prevent him from acting, his acts, when performed, are in proper cases subject to judicial review and disallowance. Typically, the subordinates through whom he acts may be sued, in a form of legal fiction, to enjoin the commission of acts which might lead to irreparable damage739 or to compel by writ of mandamus the performance of a duty definitely required by law,740 such suits being usually brought in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.741 In suits under the common law, a subordinate executive officer may be held personally liable in damages for any act done in excess of authority,742 although immunity exists for anything, even malicious wrongdoing, done in the course of his duties.743
Different rules prevail when such an official is sued for a “constitutional tort” for wrongs allegedly in violation of our basic charter,744 although the Court has hinted that in some “sensitive”[p.583]areas officials acting in the “outer perimeter” of their duties may be accorded an absolute immunity from liability.745 Jurisdiction to reach such officers for acts for which they can be held responsible must be under the general “federal question” jurisdictional statute, which, as recently amended, requires no jurisdictional amount.746

The Practice in the Presidential Office.—However contested the theory of expansive presidential powers, the practice in fact has been one of expansion of those powers, an expansion that a number of “weak” Presidents and the temporary ascendancy of Congress in the wake of the Civil War has not stemmed. Perhaps the point of no return in this area was reached in 1801 when the Jefferson–Madison “strict constructionists” came to power and, instead of diminishing executive power and federal power in general, acted rather to enlarge both, notably by the latitudinarian construction of implied federal powers to justify the Louisiana Purchase.42 After a brief lapse into Cabinet government, the executive in the hands of Andrew Jackson stamped upon the presidency the outstanding features of its final character, thereby reviving, in the opinion of Henry Jones Ford, “the oldest political institution of the race, the elective Kingship.”43 While the modern theory of presidential power was conceived primarily by Alexander Hamilton, the modern conception of the presidential office was the contribution primarily of Andrew Jackson.44

Bill's show was fantastic...don't know which comment was better, "the moron doesn't fall from the tree." Barbara's comment. Or the last 5 minutes cataloging all that Bush & Co, (because it takes all of them) to flush America down the toilet.
Ok, lets see we are fighting in Iraq to look strong but letting Americans drown and die. Yeah that should play Internationally.
Or better, we have LOWERED wages for the workers who will rebuild New Orleans for the contractors and that rescinded a law.
Gee, I just bet the contractors will give the government their BEST price too.

Thanks for the comic relief! I am soooo drowning in the anger at what the Busheviks have done/are doing to this country. And their arrogance continues even in the wreckage of the storm. Lowering wages (while gas prices/cost of living goes UP), no-bid contracts to cronies, building a republican foothold on the gulf (US gulf --complete with army), and what Bill said.
And what is up with the Randi Rhodes message board? I've been trying for an hour to get on! Has clear channel or Rove succeeded in step 2 of their plans to silence us?

Being stationed in the middle east at the moment, I'm somewhat limited in my news intake (orbit satellite). But what I've managed to piece together thus far is that of the approximately 90,000 square miles of affected area, only the 500 miles comprising the metro New Orleans area seems to be where the major logistical problems have occured.
I don't suppose this could be due to the unique problem of a failed levee system causing rapid flooding, or an inadequate local/state evacuation and disaster plan, or even the fact that over 10,000 people had to be airlifted/boated out in the early going..... no, it was George. George Bush should have immediately identified the inability of these local governments to get anything right, mainly New Orleans..... failed school system, miserable economy, out of control crime rate. etc..... Why anyone would have assumed New Orleans would have thought to properly stock its shelters, provide adequate security or utilize their city vehicles to transport those without vehicles to a safer area is insane. What the hell was he thinking? The city officials of New Orleans are not responsible for their people.... the White House is responsible for them.
Everyone was caught with their pants down on this one. FEMA, state and city alike. We drill in the Navy all the time, one of the scenarios we run is called a "Mass Conflag", that's where anything that can go wrong,does.... and that seems to be pretty much what happend in New Orleans...... major storm complicated by breeched levee, further complicated by poor planning at the local level, further still complicated by poor state response and FEMA response. Anyone who soley blames the Bush administration is truly blinded by their politics.
Go back to watching Bill Maher and dreaming of how well this would have been under a Gore administration..... we certainly would have recieved more aid from China in that case.

Laugh the bitter laughter, get mad, then do something. There is no legal mechanism for recalling a pResident aside from impeachment.
Go to DC. all this month we will be building a new America. Bushville will be refugees from New Orleans, joined by Camp Casey and Cindy's supporters. A million people swamping the government with their presence will not be ignored or denied. Monday the 26th will change America forever.

bu$h & cronies are lying crooks & criminals --- the worst bunch ever to hold positions in DC. They were known as 'THE CRAZIES' in the 1980s. Yes, they are still THE CRAZIES but now they are in power. Actually, CRAZIES doesn't even begin to describe how demented they are.
Check out this first-hand account of the ... 2nd 'Trail of Tears to Oklahoma' [???]:
I just got back from a FEMA Detainment Camp
I'm extremely depressed to report that things seem to only be getting sadder concerning the people so devastatingly affected by Katrina last week. Two car loads of us headed over to Falls Creek, a youth camp for Southern Baptist churches in Oklahoma that agreed to have its facilities used to house Louisiana refugees. I'm afraid the camp is not going to be used as the kind people of the churches who own the cabins believe it was going to be used.
Jesse Jackson was right when he said "refugees" was not the appropriate word for the poor souls dislocated due to Katrina. But he was wrong about why it is not appropriate. It's not appropriate because they are detainees, not refugees.

Jim in Comment 8 suggests we should consider what Gore might have done.
Jim may not be aware that disaster preparedness was one of his strengths and legislative interests in the Senate. I know this by accident. I was working on a research proposal with some engineers and NASA folks in the early 1980's. We had proposed a temporary shelter system as a high-tech test-vehicle for long duration space flight--a lightwt enclosure capable of sustaining life in a hostile environment like Antarctica. It turned out the application for this kind of technology had already crossed the minds of a panel of experts convened by Sen Gore, but their purpose was to examine and recommend things suited to disaster preparedness and management. It has been a long while since I read the materials, but it is plain Gore had taken the first steps on his own.
So, Jim, I must conclude we would be a helleva lot better off if we had Gore in his rightful place as President, than the Bumbler Bush and Company.

Impeachment or recall, while warranted, are not possible in the Republican-elite dominated United States. Pressure to resign, brought massively to bear, is the only recourse. It should target Bush and Cheney, and be relentless, starting now and aiming towards September 24th, in Washington, with millions on the march. The chaff, like Rove, Rumsfeld, Chertoff, etc., would follow, and soon be floating face down in a flood of their own making.
Under the Constitution, a chastened President Hastert would be a clear improvemement and could even rise to the lower levels of mediocrity with effort. To coin a phrase: "May the polls be with us!" If they are to be believed, more than six out of ten Americans are now seeing the nakedness of the Emperor, and fervently wish to appoint him as permanent biker and brush clearer in Crawford, Texas.

It may be true that mistakes were made by local officials, that they were guilty of poor planning etcetera...hopefully an investigation will bring out who did & did not do what & when.
But there are numerous reports of massive amounts of aid being turned away by FEMA & by Homeland Security:
http://bellaciao.org/en/...cle.php3?id_article=8066
It is known that the governor of Louisiana declared a state of emergency on August 26th, requested that the president do the same, and he did so on the following day...although it appears he named the wrong counties:
http://www.bobharris.com/content/view/637/1/
It is also known that the director of FEMA did not communicate the need for aid to his boss at Homeland Security until three days later, the 29th, and that in his memo he stated that two MORE days would be needed before they could respond.
All this time people were drowning or baking in the sun on rooftops, or trapped in attics, nursing homes & hospitals, without food, water, power, medicine or help of any kind; and when help was offered (please see the above link) it was refused.
I can appreciate that your access to news may be limited; and yes, some on the left as well as some on the right can be blinded by politics. But research for yourself & draw your own conclusions. There have been several eyewitness accounts reported that are horrifying no matter what your politics. This is one by two paramedics who had been at a medical conference in N.O. when Katrina hit:

I hope you check these out & keep posting here.

In the Los Angeles Times Calendar section last Friday 9-02-2005, there was an article written by Tim Rutten called "A Warning Sent But Left Behind" about a city once called New Orleans. 3 YEARS AGO, New Orleans' leading newspaper, the Times-Picayune, and National Public Radio's signature nightly news program called "All Things Considered" all reported about the thousands of lives at risk by exactly the sequence of events that occured last week. In fact the Times-Picayune authors John McQuaid and Mark Schleifstein won awards for their 5 PART SERIES on the impending disaster. Here's a few quotes:
"It is a matter of when, not if."
"People left behind in an evacuation will be struggling to survive. Some will be housed at the Superdome, the designated shelter in N.O. for people to sick or infirm to leave the city. Many will simply be on their own.... Thousands will drown while trapped in homes or cars by rising waters. Others will be washed away or crushed by debris. Survivors will end up trapped on roofs, in buildings or on high ground surrounded by water, with no means of escape and little food or fresh water, perhaps for days."
"What happened between then and now? NOTHING.
"Since 2002, when these reports ran, the Times-Picayune has published no fewer than 9 stories
reporting that the combination of tax cuts, the war in IRAQ and the demands of homeland security had led the Bushit Administration to repeatly reject urgent requests from the Army Corps of Engineers and Louisiana's congressional delegation that it allocate the money to save New Orleans."
So go back to protecting an Iraqi oil well in Bushit's army and feel secure that your family doesn't hail from New Orleans because they may have perrished only leaving you a Bushit story about what happened under the watch of your commander in chief.

Hi Peggy #19:
The gov't has responded to the survivors/evacuees as though they are criminals. The first hand account of the EMS personnel (who had been attending a convention when they became stranded in the city) shows how they were treated as criminals from the get go. This is nothing short of EVIL on the part of this bushit regime. The Paramedics explain how people were helping each other in order to survive until the military started separating the groups so they could maintain their 'control' over the people.
This is not the America I lived in prior to the supreme asshole bu$h & Crazies regime. This is POLICE STATE. This IS 1930s Germany folks. It Couldn't Happen Here ??? Think again. It is.
Hurricane Katrina - Our Experiences
By Parmedics Larry Bradsahw and Lorrie Beth Slonsky

If the government has labeled these survivors/evacuees as criminals ... they will be kept in FEMA concentration camps. Thanks to the Patriot Act the gov't can hold these people indefinitely without any access to the outside world or legal representation.

One other thing --- what better way to make criminals out of people than to keep them stranded in a flooded hellhole without food or water and orders to shoot to kill if they break a window to a flooded store to take food and water in order to survive. What better way to have the excuse to remove the distasteful poor element from N.O. or anytown USA & isolate them in holding camps than to have them branded as criminals.
After listening to the overflowing fount of baldfaced lies of this corrupt regime and knowing how mean-spirited they are --- I don't believe any act of injustice is beneath them.
I would love to be proved wrong about them --- but I doubt I will be. The media will continue lying to the public and the neoCONS will continue raping America and the rest of the world until the straw that breaks the camel's back. Who knows what that will be. Let Katrina be the one. The name 'Katrina' comes from the Greek name 'Catherine' which means PURE. Let us hope she opens the door to TRUTH and justice.

Please read "Project for a New American Century"; google search. Prescott Bush was a traitor. Shrub engages in satanic rituals at Bohemian Grove. What have they been preparing themselves to do in the past four years? Because if this was it? Why even bother wasting all that money...
If this had been a terror attack we would have been hit broadside, and the government would have reacted exactly the same, unless, however, the victims were all white, affluent, predominantly republican, or anywhere near the Crawford Ranch. (Excluding the people utilizing their right to dissent, of course.)

We are not fools.

It matters that it is your money that is being spent to protect the homeland. From what? Itself?
It is your money being spent on a war for a complete and utter lie.
It is your money being spent on the aftermath of Katrina, NOT in PREPERATION for such a foreseeable disaster, but long after she made landfall!
It is American, British, and Iraqi lives and souls that are being snuffed out for nothing!
Precious human life has been, is being, and will continue to be lost at this administration’s hands, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it!

Sam,
Cheney plans to use Halliburton's coal mining machines to dig the coal directly out of the ground. He will dig it out under any of the cities which are destroyed, out of the sands under Saudi Arabia, Canada and anywhere he can.
I have a friend who's a republican and he meets with other democrats and strong progressives each week.
He said this is what Cheney plans to do, and is the only reason for the contracts. We got to stop this creep. He thinks business all the time. 80% of the people hate him (unlike the 60% who hate Bush) and know what he plans to do.
Coal mining will become a token replacement, for oil refueling and refineries because oil is almost gone since we're at peak oil.
The slave labor work for the drills EXXON & Halliburton plan to use is scathing, they are going to pay people a few dollars an hour to drill for coal.
On the whole, the reconstruction project for the rich aristocrats will take upwards of 15 billion. This is why Delay keeps sending them money....One f*king crooked operation!!

All need to remember: KEEP the pressure on these two items!!!
Create a rising echo around Tom Delay
Tom Delay is the biggest crook next to Hastert and the only guard left to prevent impeachments, make sure this man goes down and is gone.
Tom Delay on a path to destruction His TRMPAC operation was already indicted, and his associates jailed. His friend Jack Abramoff was indicted, and he accepted illegal bribes multiple times. Its only a matter of time and Delay will be indicted, forced on probation and before that he should be out of his position. A new majority leader immediately needs to be delegated by the R's and D's and we make CERTAIN of it.
Get rid of the voting machines!!!!. This is the most important point of all, the voting machines are fraud enabled and proned to stealing elections. The vote reform must be done and done in every single state, including Utah. Make sure to hammer ALL of your elected officials to get rid of the machines and not accept anything less than a verified paper record and manual audit!!!!! NEVER settle for anything less!!
Voting Machines the main problem,voting disaster
Bill needs to be passed immediately, Rush Holt's bill and all the R's and D's must force it through
Truth about election fraud, integrity and uncertainty: Lawsuits and documents
Remember, here is where to go to mail and call
Impeachment is very important so keep the drum going, but laser in on the voting machines to get rid of the crooked elections.
We can't have war crime trials unless the voting machines are done away with. Press the entire majority to sign onto Rush Holt's bill, so there's no more stolen elections and vote stealing.
Keep a laser on the voting and Tom Delay, we want the entire thing thrown out and international courts. Only way to do that is zero in on Delay and get rid of the vote-fraud.

It makes no difference whether it be black or white,male or female,poverty does not differentiate.Whomever is elected to be president,Must Know what it means,or must at least give a damn about the least of us.Poverty runs rampant in our society,through ALL races,ALL genders,it's time that an HONEST person steps out of the darkness,let's not let race be an issue.We must ALL work together for change,that's the only way!Peace

As long as there are only TWO parties able to ever get elected in this FREE society, how do you ever get a poor but HONEST working class individual into office of ANY level? As long as there are only 2 parties allowed, you tell me how ANYTHING could possibly change for the smart, working class true American? Governments only job on this planet is to raise megabucks in order to keep their buddies in office? They are taught when they are children that the working class: who pays their kids tuition; are the dumbasses in life and they get a big kick out of our FEAR to say anything, while they smile in our faces while they keep ripping us off! I am not intimidated by all their legal thievery. Organize a Dave party and I just might run for President. My rule would be swift, any politician caught stealing American's money or their FREEDOMS shall be strung upside down in public and Whipped into submission by us taxpayers. Yes, we can do that; remember WE are the majority! More people; more choice!

Dave King: It is more than possible. We have Howard Dean as proof. He was poor working class and got elected.
Paul Hackett is like that too, and so are many good democrats like John Conyers.
Look around you, they are everywhere. And there are also republicans like that, Ron Paul for starters, Olympia Snowe for another, Bernie Sanders who's not an R but an I.
And then there are all the many rich priveledged ones. But, you asked how could working class or poor be elected.
I just demonstrated to you how they could be! BOTH parties, or really, all parties used to be parties of the people but then when corporations came along, all that went to hell. They are not for the people anymore, either one. But there are represenatives who are of the people and THAT is who we can and who we must get elected!!!

It would appear that our country is in dire need of American Revolution II. This is not so much a repetition of "the madness of King George" as it is the unbridled destructiveness of George W. Bush. His failed domestic and foreign policies will be albatrosses around our necks for decades to come, provided we are afforded the opportunity to survive that long. My question is "How can thinking Americans continue to support this administration's dangerous disregard of values we supposedly hold dear ... truth, integrity, compassion?" Are they not alarmed that Bush and his elite inner circle are exhibiting the classic behavior of bullies: cruel, dictatorial, and insecure. With their plundering, vindictiveness, ineptness, and mean-spiritedness has come such shame, embarrassment, and vulnerability for our country. We dissenters must not allow them to SWIFTBOAT us. They must all be forced to resign in disgrace if America is to retain any strength and credibility. May God help us.

Check out the political party responsible for the illegitimate recount in OHIO called the Green Party. The presidential candidate David Cobb put pressure on 2 of the 4 stolen states in the last Presidential election. New Mexico which would have been the the easiest swing state to prove the contest was rigged because of a 40,000 undervote (more people voting than registered voters) demanded that a large sum of money (think it was a million $ or more) within 2 days time of when the recount was requested. This was make the rules up as you go style because it was never part of the state's recount proceedures. Faster than you can say "lies about weapons of mass destruction and no ties to Alkeida" the NM voting machines were cleared. David's a good guy and comes off very down to earth (grrreen). Heard him speak at a REDEFEATED BUSH rally in Washington DC across from the Capital on Jan 6, while the robots in Congress accepted the fraudulent electoral votes. One more point of interest, John Kerry did not show up to vote because it was more pressing for him to be check 'n it out in IRAQ. He did send out a press release saying he would not contest the vote. Kerry and Bush are Skull and Bones fraturnity brother from different years at Yale. You forever have an alliegence to other members ahead of your country and your family. The richy rich elite who run this country got "tapped" to be in the Bones. You recant your sexual secrets naked in a tomb in a ceremony with other fraternal brothers present making you forever tied to the other members. After the late sixties and the civil rights movement occured, shit changed and skull and bones was never the same (or so the story goes)>There's an old skull and bones story how brother Grand Pappy Prescott Bush who was working for a US company that helped finance nazi death camps, stole Geronimo's skull and it's hidden at the Skull and Bones fraturnity secret hideaway. Might want to keep an eye on Prescott's grave because his head could end up in the hands of friends and relatives of the over 100,000 Iraqi civilians that have been killed in Dubbya's Bushit war. The US bombed Iraq for 6 months before actually invading the country. You got to ask yourself.. if these folks had been preying to "the right God" or simply "the God on the far right" would they still be alive? NO is the answer. God is not responsible for 911, the invasion of Iraq, or the rigging of the last 2 presidential elections. He would not of approved of reversing over 400 environmentl laws and standards. Now fck my ace! It's the Bushit administration. The only ones who died in New Orleans is a bunch of poor niggers. Since true to nazi dogma, it's good that the old and the stupid were also killed so now we don't have to put them on a train to get gassed. Yippie Yeh Ha You fcking win.

Thanks Jeanie and Dave - there is a old saying and I always fire back with it whenever people tell me something cannot be done - nothing is impossible.
If you care to go check out newspapers that were being printed a hundred years ago today then you will find that the most hated regime in America was the Tsar in Russia. Americans hated it because it was the most undemocratic monstrosity, but they also thought that it would never fall. In 1917 Americans had street parties and got drunk and had a massive celibration when the Tsar abdicated and then it looked as if Russia would have a constitutional and democratic government... yes and Americans were really annoyed once they realised what Lenin and the bolsheviks meant and what they intended.
I have many Russian friends who would tell you that they never imagined that the Soviet Union would fall or that they would have elections in which they were free to vote for whoever they wished, or it must be said to have the right to come and go as they please without having to answer to some tin pot beaurocrat sat behind a desk.
Nothing is impossible - the only reason why something doesn't happen is because you, either individually or collectivily, did not do enough to make it happen. If you want someone in the White House who understands what it is like to be poor and understands what it is like to be disadvantaged either through race or class or sex or even all of those then collectivily all of you in America who want that kind of person in the Oval Office have to find that person and then do everything you can do and more to get them elected.

Dear Jim #8 ---
Setting aside my complete admiration for accomplishments and sacrifices made by our military personnel and their families, and agreement that much should have been done prior to this disaster at all levels, allow me to enlighten you just a bit...
When you get home, you will hear about some of our own 'tin-pot bureaucrats' (as Nigel#45 writes) who contributed to the deaths of citizens, AFTER the levee break, in whose name you are fighting for now. Death trumps nuisance, I think.
But also, do some homework when you're stateside and you may see how the rights and freedoms of Americans has decreased even as those around the world (and with US help) have increased.
Finally, thank your lucky stars that we are already receiving the benefit of historic 'aid' from China in the form of buying our debt! This is a blessing and curse as it maintains this economy so many Americans are comfortable with now, but down the road spells disaster for the poor and middle class.
See> The massive purchase of dollars by China, the second-largest purchaser of American debt after Japan, may well be one of the main reasons why the crisis hasn't struck sooner. The yuan, the Chinese currency which is pegged to the dollar, is forced to import American debt, because the ongoing China boom could be the result of a lax Federal Reserve Bank policy. China is a large importer of goods and has played a crucial role in Japan's economic recovery. China's GDP today accounts for 13 per cent of the world's output (at purchasing power parity)
By your logic, we should not be questioning or concerned about what happens much in Iraq today (including ways to be more successful and get you home faster), because it really is Saddam's fault.
If we are a forward-looking society and culture (even as maniacally portrayed by the Bush admin.) then that would dictate we focus 1st where we can have most effect to improve results - those with current power and responsibility. We can deal with the impotent later (i.e. Saddam) because we know where to find him and he is irrelevant to current operations.
Take care.

The U.S. must examine its soul
By Rosie Diamanno
09/10/05 "Toronto Star" --- -- NEW ORLEANS — The Big Sleazy has turned into a necropolis.
City of the dead and the deadened.
Ghosts with dirty faces stagger about in bare feet and floating, rolling cadavers snag on the upturned roots of pecan trees.
Urban survivalists, some of them mentally deranged but a great many more disoriented and dehydrated after a fortnight of living primitively, lock themselves behind chain-secured doors, unresponsive to and hiding from the forces of law that would drag them from their homes.
A woman called Caroline stands shaking and knuckle-biting fearful on the opposite side of a veranda screen, distrustful of police making inquiries about an abandoned vehicle on the curb, convinced they've arrived to forcefully remove her from the premises. It takes half an hour of reassurances to the contrary before Caroline tentatively opens the door, resigning herself to whatever fate awaits.
Others are cajoled, confronted and pestered into abandoning their toeholds of security, whatever little piece of their antediluvian lives is still represented by a wood-frame house in the middle of a city lake, or a dank and fetid tenement flat in the projects where mothers cook over dangerous fires and candlelight flickers in the window.
Corpses of fellow citizens have been bundled out of the non-sanctuary of the Convention Centre and the malevolent bedlam of the Superdome, presumably transferred to the warehouse-turned-morgue some 110 kilometres west of here, just off the interstate. A vast building, it gives no outward sign of its current purpose.
But the overwhelming number of Hurricane Katrina victims, those who paid the ultimate and too often unnecessary price of a disaster that was conceived far offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, then nurtured into extraordinary lethality by human incompetence and widespread paralysis on the ground, have yet to be reclaimed, almost a fortnight removed from the flooding.
For the appalling tragedy that Katrina became, especially in and around New Orleans, where the levees broke and the floodwaters crested after the hurricane had spent itself on a northward trajectory, an entire nation will have to re-examine its soul. **MORE**

Where to start.....
#14 Gtash - Too bad Al didn't run with these indetructable "PODS" , then Tennessee wouldn't be a state with one of the lowest frequency of tornados (of states that have them),23rd, yet have one of the highest death rates for tornados (6th). I learned that on that internet thing he invented when he was younger.
#16 Joan - Appreciate the input and will visit the links you have provided. Earlier I did view the La. Governor's state of emergency document.... to me it looked like a request to be re-imbursed $9,000,000 for the cost they identified to evacuate citizens and establish shelters..... but I'm no lawyer! I agree, it's been a horific event with immense human suffering, and I just think local government caused much of this suffering by being poorly prepared. You're one of the few in this blog that seems to acknowledge that problems might not be limited to the Federal Government. I'm sure this makes you very unpopular within this blog! Anyhow, I'll be watching for your post! Later!
#18 Grizzly Bear Dancing - The levees have been neglected for a long time, by every level of government and every party. In 1998 the state allocated a whooping 1/10 of 1 percent of its 2 billion dollar construction budget ( 1.98 million dollars), to levee improvements. Additionally, Louisiana receives more Army Corp of Engineer's funding than any other state, I'm not certain how its used, but I'm sure that many of those decissions are made with the help and guidance of the Orleans levee board. In 2002 the inability to generate any local/state funding resulted in a loss of 65% federal matching funds, eliminating many projects. And it's being reported on CNN and NBC that more money has been provided to levee projects under 5 years of Bush than 8 years of Clinton.
Second, sounds like the reporters nailed it in their scenario, they even recognized way back then that people would be stranded for days without food and water. They must have accounted for many of the difficulties associated with the search and rescue for this type of catastrophe. Too bad the Governor and Mayor don't subscribe to that paper!!
And finally,... I can't go guard an Iraqi oil well, I'm at a navy communication center. So... I'll go guard some modulators or something like that instead, if thats OK with you.
ISO#46 - I'm not suggesting that questions not be asked. Just ask the question's at all levels of government... don't give the locals a pass on this. Hold the president accountable if you like, but don't forget the many inviduals who have responsibilities to the citizens of Louisianna and New Orleans. So while I appreciate your willingness to "enlighten" me... thanks just the same.

Political contributions: There should NOT BE ANY. During elections, the media should be obliged to provide FREE equal time to qualified candidates. There must be a practical way to do this. I understand that, e.g., Arnold's race in California, there were 20, 30 or more candidates and obviously the media can't provide free time to everyone --- but there must be some measure. Political candidates should not be accepting money from ANYONE, to be reminded of this fact if/when after they are elected.

#52 Jim:
I have to provide correct information to your comment "And it's being reported on CNN and NBC that more money has been provided to levee projects under 5 years of Bush than 8 years of Clinton."
In two front-page articles, Wash. Post presented falsehoods, distortions masking Bush administration's apparent Katrina failures
[snip] In consecutive front-page reports, The Washington Post featured mischaracterizations and outright falsehoods that had the effect of masking the Bush administration's apparent culpability in the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans.
On September 8, the Post falsely reported that "the Bush administration's funding requests for the key New Orleans flood-control projects for the past five years were slightly higher than the Clinton administration's for its past five years," a claim that was subsequently picked up in a September 9 Post column by Charles Krauthammer and by Fox News host Brit Hume on the "Grapevine" segment of the September 8 edition of Special Report with Brit Hume. In fact, the Clinton administration's budgets for 1996-2000 requested many times more money for the Lake Pontchartrain Hurricane Protection program that the Post referenced than the Bush administration did for fiscal years 2002-2006, and Clinton also proposed significantly more federal money for other key flood-control projects in New Orleans and budgeted more money for the New Orleans district of the Army Corps of Engineers.
...contrary to the Post's report, a comparison of budget numbers from 1996 to 2006 demonstrates that the Clinton administration requested far more money for that program than the Bush administration did. Further, the Bush administration also proposed dramatic cuts to another critical flood-control program in Louisiana that the commander of the Army Corps of Engineers has acknowledged could have aided the relief effort.
As the budget figures available on the Government Printing Office (GPO) website indicate, Clinton proposed $12.5 million for "Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity (Hurricane Protection)" in fiscal year 1996, $13.3 million in 1997, $17 million in 1998, and $16 million in 2000 (1999's data was not available on the GPO website). By contrast, as FactCheck.org noted on September 2, an Army Corps of Engineers fact sheet on the project noted that Bush proposed $3.9 million for fiscal year 2005 and $3 million for fiscal year 2006, both figures deemed by the Army Corps of Engineers to be "insufficient to fund new construction contracts." The Post itself reported the 2005 figure in a September 2 report. According to a June 8, 2004, report by the New Orleans Tmes-Picayune (partially republished here), Bush proposed $3 million in fiscal year 2004. As The Dallas Morning News reported on September 5, Bush's requested funding for the project in 2002 and 2003 was still a third to half of what Clinton annually proposed:
For hurricane protection on Lake Pontchartrain and vicinity, President Bush's five-year total, $22 million, is about a fifth of the sum sought by corps and Louisiana officials. The Bush administration budgeted $7.5 million for fiscal 2002 and $4.9 million for 2003. [snip] ***MORE***
According to www.factcheck.org, "In the past five years, the amount of money spent on all Corps construction projects in the New Orleans district has declined by 44 percent, according to the New Orleans CityBusiness newspaper, from $147 million in 2001 to $82 million in the current fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.
A long history of complaints: Local officials had long complained that funding for hurricane protection projects was inadequate" - ***MORE***

I think you know you're just being the guard-dogs for the communications equipment. But the levee system funding, falls on the fault of Bush and his cronies and also Mayor Nagin. They all need to be fired for sure, and just because you "serve" in the military does not mean you must support the "cause" you are being used for.
People who go into illegal wars have a job to do. We've seen it time and time again in vietnam. And they also don't have an obligation to support the "mission", they only follow orders.....It isn't neccesary for them to endorse the leaders making them follow those orders.
So when anyone is against the leaders war, figure this out....They aren't against the troops, they're against the war. Anyone who supports america supports its troops and officers. They don't have to support its leaders, however and its time you learned that.

Kira #62 - Thanks for pointing out a possible error on my part, but for the time being, I'll still stand by it. Never mind proposed dollars.... let's look at actual dollars spent, which I'm learning is very hard to find!!! The "fact" from factcheck.org, quoting the New Orleans City Business Newspaper may be misleading if it is from the Feb 16, 2004 edition of the same paper as a couple of sentences appear to be omitted. Specifically,
" The Corps' New Orleans district in 2003 spent about $409 million on construction contracts, dredging and maintenace for the states waterways, realestate purchases, private sector design contracts and in-house expenditures, according to the Corps. That more than doubles the $200 million spent in the district in 1991."
I'm certain this portion was omitted as it doesn't support factcheck.org's agenda. At a minimum, it represents selective reading on their part. If you are aware of some sites that reference actual spending per year I'd appreciate if you could pass them along.

I keep asking and waiting for an answer. Give me one good thing Bush & Co has done for America?
13 Soldiers have died since Sept 1
mostly from IED which means vehicles on patrol are still NOT armoured enough.
1896 American men and women have died in Bush's war as of Sept 1.
14,362 American men and women wounded, many in comas never to be able to function again.
As of Sept 1.
American citizens are on their own in time of disaster because this president has underfunded and staffed with incompetent cronies and agency designed to help in disasters.
Yet, many tell us we are not to critize and demand a change..WHY ? Who would continue driving a vehicle that is deemed unsafe at any speed?

To #69 Jim:
Well, you're also entitled to your opinion that you are not in an illegal war but that doesn't make it the truth. Certainly the Nazis felt they weren't acting illegally but they were wrong as well. Think about it: The whole concept of "pre-emption" is contrary to international law as well as morally wrong. Iraq was doing absolutely NOTHING to provoke the U.S. and it got bullied and invaded and now over 100,000 Iraqi civilians and 1,900 U.S. personnel are dead (and the U.S. STILL can't control the airport road in Baghdad, having to ferry visitors by helicopter from the Green Zone to the airport!). An UNPROVOKED invasion is 100% illegal. Simple as that, a war of aggression. If Country "A" is doing nothing to provoke Country "B", then Country "B" has no more right to invade Country "A" than Hitler had in invading Poland. There is no just cause for attacking a nation that isn't provoking it. None. Never was. Never will be. Period. Add to that the facts that every single one of the Bushites' "reasons" for attacking Iraq has been proven to be a LIE, all except that yes, Iraq is sitting on a lake of oil as the world's second-largest oil producer. If Iraq's main resource it had to offer the world was beeswax, do you really think the U.S. would have 140,000 troops in the country right now being shot at?

Jim - Very glad to have you here. While I disagree with much of what you've averred --- one or two too many tell-tale wingnut talking points without the facts to back 'em up --- I'm glad you've found us as you actually seem to be a reasonable person. As opposed to so many of the trolls who find their way to little more than smash, bash, swiftboat and smear.
I'll only bother to make one point in reply to your many (others have done a fine job of countering your points) and that is your comment to Joan in #52. To wit:
You're one of the few in this blog that seems to acknowledge that problems might not be limited to the Federal Government. I'm sure this makes you very unpopular within this blog!
I don't believe anybody on this blog (either posters or commenters) have ever said that problems were limited to the Federal Government. Nor would any such comment make Joan or anyone else "very unpopular within this blog".
You prejudices and preconceptions are showing, Jim. You're better than that. Save it for the wingnut blogs, where they buy in to such nonsense.

Hello Party People!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed Bill Maher's show this past Friday. Especially his commentary on suggesting a California style recall for President Bush. If a recall, or impeachment are not viable options, don't forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November '06 elections are coming up. According to counter on this blog web site, as of today 9/11/05, President Bush has 331 days left in office. Why not make the reminder of his time in office the most difficult and the most miserable? Miserable to the point that he wants to leave his position. That he will resign. How do you do that? All of the congressional seats are up for re-election in November 2006. 1/3 of the Senate seats are up for re-election. Here are some valid action steps that should be pursued and can be pursued if the consensus wants change. 1) Identify who the incumbent politicians are and failed to publicly demonstrate leadership in this time of crisis. 2) Establish and solicit a list of people who are qualified, competent, and are interested in working as a public servant, and they want to become a congress person or a senator. 3) Determine an agenda of 10 items to hold these people accountable to once they are voted into office. 4) Establish a 3rd party escrow account to raise money for these candidates to be used for their campaigns. 5) Promote these people and solicit money in order to vote the incumbents out. I am defining incumbents as the ones who failed to demonstrate effective leadership in this time of crisis. 6) Identify the backdoors and any loopholes regarding the upcoming elections. Once those areas are identified, have them closed, tightened up, and removed prior to the November '06 elections. Key election areas or questionable election areas should be monitored with news presence and/or some kind of cameras and videos. The response to this hurricane by the US government is the straw that has broken the camel's back. The incompetence is unacceptable. November 06 is the key. Now where are the citizens who want to be in Congress and/or the Senate and they want to serve the Public? :angry: Speak Now!!!! Now is the time to step up......
As far as Bill Maher having James Glassman as a guest, I am glad he did. I am glad that I had an opportunity to see how he thinks, and his position on a multitude of issues.
How can one effectively and advantageously position his self in the game, if he doesn't know where his opponet is????????????

Bravo, Mr. Maher. Tis pity your words and deeds are not seen on the mainstream media outlets so that more people could experience them.
More than recall, this "administration" has been so traitorous, it is imperative that when it is replaced, all of its acts, laws, and decrees be repealed, revoked, and replaced, much as the NCAA does when a college is found to have broken the rules.
Unfortunately, there is no resurrection for the dead, those who were sent to their fates by the greed and profiteering of this group of butchers. Where is God when needed?

The fact you have your opinion that the war wasn't illegal doesn't change the facts that it was illegal.
I can say the moon is made of hybrid gases mixed with peanut butter, it doesn't make it true.
As you can see here....
http://www.downingstreetmemo.com/blog.html
The bottom line is the war was illegal, used 9/11 as "political capital" and before all legal options were used ignored the constitution and declared war. Against international law, it engaged in pre-emptive warfare for profit.
And those facts are not disputed.....Nor are they rebuffed by Tony Blair and his executives....It was definitely the plan all along, to do this illegal war and make it appear legal. As was the fraudulent lies.

Old Rinkrank & His Three Sons*
[Satire from “End Poverty: Kill The Poor”
by G. C. Christie, Kansas, copyright 2005]
Old King Dick Rinkrank and his three sons lived in a White Castle surrounded by guards. The first son could not see any common sense, the other was lame and the third was stark naked.
As a reward for a profitable week of Hurricane Katrina, they all went to a field where they saw a hare. The son who could not see shot at it. His name is Rummy. The lame one, Rove, caught it. And the naked one, George, put it in his pocket. So old Rinkrank declared the day a fine success.
King Dick stretched his arms and looked across the Elipse, reliving those first delicious moments.
His launch began days ago at breakfast. Old King Rinkrank sat at the head of a gleaming table wearing his purple velvet cape, the one he thought enhanced his fine pallor. As he tipped his crown to a jaunty angle, he covertly inspected each of his sons’ faces. The resemblance was uncanny given each had a different mother.
“We got a great opportunity here, boys. Every 27 hours we can jump the oil prices another five, six bucks a gallon. And,” he said rubbing his hands together, “We are going to rake in billions with disaster contracts.” He chuckled, “Teach them down in Louisiana not to vote against us. Rummy what’s your strategy, son?”
His eldest, in camouflage jammies, was thoughtful. “Well, Pops, “First, bivouac Brownie in New Orleans at the decisive point. You know him, the twinkie horse guy. Spin him in circles until he’s immobilized with vertigo and leave him there in the toxic sludge. Two. Promise troops.”
“How many? ”King Rinkrank asked raising an irritated eyebrow.
“Oh, for heaven’s sake, I wouldn’t actually send them. You don’t go to flood with the army you got. Four. Do a floating dump and barricade the escapees in warehouses. Fourteen. Cut off all lines of water, food and communications. And of course kill the riffraff’s’ lights, air-conditioning and plumbing. Ought to toss in a few guns, too.
Rummy gripped the sides of his plate, passionately, “Goodness gracious, you put a bunch of rabble in the convention center and shake it up. And what do you have? Barbarian terrorists disposed to lay in their own excrement. And when this enemy is running amok, it halts any rescue units from breaching the main line of resistance. The media will love it. And we all know anything making under a mil a year is expendable. Good riddance to bad collateral!
“Seven. Declare it a no-fly zone and divert all incoming rations and volunteers to a tactical deception point.
“Hey, Daddy!” George grinned, “You wanna hear a joke about three poor people in a boat?”
The king roundly pinched his cheek, “No son, not yet.” He turned his attention back to Rummy, but his little soldier was dressing down the painfully emaciated slave, Isaac.
“You!” Rummy commanded. “I’m hot. Fan me faster. Whiney piece of whiff!”
“Sir, I’ve been fanning you for 36 hours, and I’m getting weary.”
Rummy turns to King Dick “Well, for pete’s sake, what else do they have to do? It’s not like they have any money.” Back to the indentured slave, “Land’s sake, I can stand up for 92 hours straight watching 'Mein Kampf' reruns. So chop chop. Faster!”
“One thing sir could I have two minutes to see if my family is alive, the house is okay?
“What?!?” The indentured slave cowered. “Do it on your own time, between midnight and O- 300! Why don’t these subhumans get their priorities straight! Big deal, a kid dies. So? There’s always another one in the chute. Lord knows those people do propagate like a herd of hares.” The men chortled.
“Where was I? Oh right - nine. Fly George over New Orleans in a nap of the earth flight and have them dip the wings. Ship Laura down there to see a brat or two.
George yelled, “I ain’t gonna go down there! It stinks! Besides Scooter promised me we’d go raise some hell in Tijuana!”
“It’s okay, George,” his father soothed, “All you have to do is go to Uncle Trent’s house. Rove, put that duct tape back over George’s mouth. Continue Rummy.”
“Picture this. The governor’s AWOL, George The Hero walks in, does some photo ops. We seize the military to control national intelligence, dumb down the body count. And ten. Sniper that crybaby on Russert’s show. Alternate plan - make it look like a heart attack”
“That works,” King Rinkrank rumbled. “What have you got Rove?”
A slick smile crept over the round face of the son, who was just too cute in his baby doll P. J.s – but that’s another story. “Dad, I fired up the trashing machine just as soon as I found George.” [Telling on his brother] “I found him in a sleazy bar, Dad.”
“Some guy was walloping him, had him on the ground forcing a pretzel down his throat.” Rinkrank raises the other eyebrow. “It’s okay, I shot him. But George let one of the kids who took that cake/guitar picture get away.” Rove smiles smugly at George.
Then he continues, “Okay I changed the she-governor’s help request from August to September and had Number 41 leak it to Novak, told him to say she’s on the rag, too.”
King Dick turned to the slave fanning Rummy, “Get me an abortion cocktail over ice – make it a double!” The slave jumped, his eyes revealing terror. “Don’t stop fanning Rummy, you nitwit. Do it!” The slave tried to reach the bar with an extended arm. “Continue, Rove.”
Rove nodded obediently, “Then I slice and dice that mayor. I say he’s ignorant because, because …hmmm, I know! He went to public schools! Yeah, that’s it! We know how they suck. Everyone but Isaac guffawed. Rove blew a spitball at the slave.
Then he said, “Now listen, here’s the coupe d’etat. Blame the leftovers…ooh, ooh, tell media those raggedy unpeople chose to stay there!” Pleased with himself, Rove smiled, his lips surprisingly full.
“Okay, talking points. ‘Refugees!’ George, don’t screw up again and say ‘the walking dead’! Say, ‘The refugees are laying around drinking wine – living right out of our wallets’. And two more. Say, ‘Don’t play the blame game’ and ‘No finger pointing’.”
George raised a finger to Rove. “Dad! George’s doing it again. Make him stop!”
The king snapped the strip of duct tape off George’s mouth, who immediately flooded the room with harsh expletives. Then the youngest son stood and strutted his naked, albeit well-toned behind over to Isaac. He reared back and cowboy-boot kicked the indentured slave’s ribs, caving in about six.
“Now I feel better,” he drawls. But it would be more fun if they felt pain like humans.” Everyone laughed. George didn’t exactly understand why. But he loved the attention. “Okay I’ll go, Daddy. But only if you let me uh, let me go to my ranch another month. Uh, uh, and if I get to kill somebody!”
King Dick shook his head, “I’ll get you a Cadillac bicycle. How does that sound?”
“Cool! Way cool.”
“Son, yours is the most important job yet.”
George was surprised, “It is?”
King Rinkrank, adjusted his crown and smiled at himself in a silver tray as George macho-preened around the room. “You’ll get on TV, look pretty. But wear that earplug.”
“Yeah, well, I’m not. ‘Cause Rove can’t tell me what to do,” he glared at his brother.
“Why George, that isn’t Rove’s voice.”
“It ain’t?”
“No, no. It’s the Wizard of Oz’s voice
“No sh*t?”
King Rinkrank spoke out of the other side of his mouth [who knew he could?] “No sh*t…”
Ah, the king thought, it was a good memory. His boys did all right. Not perfect, but then again they were half-human. Got to fix their genetic flaw. They mix up the difference between inorganic trash and human trash. He smiled as he decided what to tell them. One moves – that is unless it’s dead. Regardless, all in all, they did some good work. His little boys were growing up.
It seemed like only yesterday that King Dick deplaned here to mate. After searching far and wide he saw not one other of his ilk. So he settled for a human. And out of that rather sordid union came Rummy, his first son. Since the human would not breed with the king again, he sought out another Earth woman to sire his second son, Rove. It killed her. And for his final son’s breeder, King Rinkrank glimpsed her on TV and was instantly enamoured with her wicked sense of humor. That child he named George.
To be continued …..
[Author’s Note: You thought King Dick was human?? Okay, I offer you proof. Look at Rinkrank’s face and tell me - could any mother ever love that?]
P.S. Barbara doesn’t like people criticizing her little guy, so if I disappear, look in her oversized purse for body parts first

FEMA "DISAPPEARING" BODIES IN NOLA?
Skeletons (Real Ones) in Bush's Closet
http://impeachbushcoalition.blogspot.com
There are some very troubling developments regarding the collecting of
bodies in NOLA. The company hired to do the collection is Kenyon
International. Kenyon International is owned by SCI, a major Bush
contributor. SCI was involved in a scandal called "Funeralgate" wherein
thousands of
bodies were improperly and fraudulently disposed of in mass graves of in
violation of numerous State and Federal laws on numreous occasions. Rather
than prosecute the company, the then Governor George W Bush and and his
campaign manager and future FEMA director Joe Allbaugh seemingly helped the
company engage in a coverup. Both Bush and Allbaugh were named as defendants
in a lawsuit regarding the issue.
The fact FEMA and the Bush Administration seem to be intent on blocking
media coverage of the collection of bodies, and unsubstantiated rumours of
"mishandling" of bodies in NOLA already circulating should lead to great
concern among the public. Is the Government planning to cover up the number
of dead in NOLA as they covered up the Abu Ghraib scandal?
One thing is certain: reporters for the Dallas times caught Police and
National Guardsmen red handed in this video
http://www.dallasnews.co...ina_video/straydogs.html
telling the media they were rounding up dogs to be collected by the ASPCA
and other animal groups, when in fact they were caught "exterminating" them
on camera. If the government will lie about that, what else will they lie
about?
The American people deserve to know the truth. The collection of American
bodies should not be farmed out to a Bush political crony, one which he
seemingly helped cover up the "mishandling" of bodies...a felony. SCI's
criminal practice of "mishandling" bodies should preclude it from engaging
in or profiting from the recovery of American bodies anywhere, but
particularly in NOLA...the outcome of the investigation is too important to
leave to a company with such a tainted past, particulary one that is so
incestuously connected to George W Bush, and particularly when the Bush
administration has so much to lose from an accurate body count.
The US media must be allowed to report on a crucial element of one of the
gravest governmental crises in American history. Congress should demand that
Kenyon International be FIRED immediately from any and all recovery efforts
in NOLA, and send an independent oversight group to be present in NOLA and
the surrounding area during the body recovery to insure the American people
are not being duped. These are not hanging chads, these are American
citizens.The present leadership within FEMA and the Bush administrationhave
proven themselves unworthy of American trust.
Following is a list of links detailing some very disturbing allegations
involving GW Bush, Joe Allbaugh, and the company
entrusted by the American people to recover the dead abandoned by the Bush
administration after hurricane Katrina...are you listening America?
Please dont just read this info, do something about it!
Contact Congress and the National Media to launch a formal inquiry, help
disseminate this info on the blogs. Its time to bring back accountbility to
our government.

Impeachment Proceedings
The Santa Cruz City Council on Tuesday became the nation's first local
government to ask Congress to look into impeaching President Bush on charges
he deceived the American public about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and
has used the Sept. 11 attacks as an excuse to crush civil rights.
In a 6-1 vote, the council decided to send a letter to members of the House

It's only going to change if we collectively get off our asses and make it happen.
Why did things even begin to incrementally get better in New Orleans? Because for once the press stopped pissing around and reported the ugly truth - something that couldn't be Bush-washed into being a palatable soundbite.
Truth: Only two reasons for backing the Republicans. 1. You're stupid. and 2. You're greedy.

When the doctors were saying on camera losing 50 people A DAY and reporters seeing many, many bodies floating and refrigerated trucks were collecting back on Wed.. Suddenly we only find 400 bodies. Hmmmmm makes you wonder.
Just like 9/11 if there is nothing to hide let the cameras roll and the reporters report.

Take care in your journeys. I wish you this Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
~~~~~~~~
And just remember, oftentimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
Nope, it wasn't an exact quote. What he said was that even though the downing street minutes are correct, they did it before going the U.N peacekeeping route thus it was legal by international law.
Only the official record of the United Nations, show that they did not complete the process at all. They allowed inspectors in and after everyone was complying, failed to let the inspectors finish and declared war against the international association charter. So it was against the law because they failed to complete, or resume the process as outlined and dictated by the U.N. Saddam Hussein was complying to all weapon inspections and war began regardless.
Sorry people, you just don't get it. Why waste your time writing poetry and history lessons back and forth?It's cute to some people, so how are you guys going to make a change in this country? We all want to change the world,don't sound like it. I thought the Dems. were supposed to work for the poor and middle class. All you people really want is another professional paid political puppet who dresses nicey talks nicey and steals from us all just like the REPS. Come on ,get realistic. Admit it, you want another suit wearing smilie face,clean cut stereotype that we've always had. No place for a true working class Americam that might need a shave and a manicure. I can't believe that the Americans are really that childish. If you don't have THE LOOK or THAT MONEY you can't get elected. Maybe you wimps grew up in some other AMERICA.
How come you're so hostile, Dave King?
By the way ... how do you expect someone to get elected now that we have unauditable Direct Recording Electronic Voting Machines installed throughout the country? Solve that problem and then pick somebody to run for office. Until then - candidates will be s*elected.
Kira, I shall answer your question . Are you trying to tell me that you were raised with a false belief that our forefathers were not hostile. You people talk talk talk so nice . When did any of you ever see any country given back to it's owners by writing poetry and sending news articles back and forth.??? It has never happened since the beginning of time. You say I'M hostile ? Your own personal rights have been taken away everyday for so many years that you are just NUMB. That numbness is what keeps Dems. Living in dreamland. What you people are saying is wrong. I have yet to have some one tell me in detail why it is so wrong to have a strong opinion? I'm waiting?/ Did you or anybody else on this blog ever hear the phrase,; Give me liberty or give me death? I don't think anyone here knows what that really means. The hostile people are around you every second of every day and you just can't see it. You people speak revolution like it's a dirty phrase. Admit it ,some Americans are fed up with your politicalspeak bullshit. The brave men who stood up to tyranny and taxes would be embarassed at what you wimps are doing to our country. Sorry for you Kira ,All you want is a CUTE SUIT to tell you what you can and cannot do with your life. People, try to think of your children's freedoms, force yourself. You wouldn't know a revolution if it smacked you up side of your head. You would just scream abuse and hostile!! I'm sad for the next 3 generations that have to admit to their kids"I was a member of a party that did not learn to speak right and I let you and your kids down . Think for a change instead of writing history lessons and cute stories. Our so called officials love to see people be so stupid.
Sorry, Kira; I forgot about the voting machines . You must be from florida or Ohio.You will NEVER be in charge of ANY voting machine whatsoever in your lifetime. I do not waste time on such pipedreams. If you all want your country back you are going to have to take it. These elections are already set up in advance. If you people really want your country back so you can be proud of it; Get more candidates to choose from. All you have to choose from is TWO cutsie boys that smile while they legally steal our money and freedoms, and nobody give a damn because of FEAR. You people prove to me that the pride was gone years ago. You can't call me hostile when you are getting ripped off everyday by your CHOSEN thieves. Real Patriots would not have tolerated this thievery . I notice you all back away from any change of thought. Proves my point that you do NOT want anything changed. MY pity is not for the few with balls!
Dave King ... you need to cool your jets. You haven't studied enough of my comments on this thread to be able to make an accurate evaluation of what I believe --- or others on this thread, either.
I have studied the genocide this country was built on from its inception. I'm fully aware of the elitist control from the beginning. And as for "talking so nice" --- well --- you've obviously missed hundreds of heated conversations we've had spanning many, many months here. You can't jump in on 1 thread and make any kind of realistic assessment like you think you can.
As for "writing poetry," if you are talking about the Irish Blessing I posted --- that has been around for a hundred years or more. I didn't write it. I like it and I do think there's room for poetry and satire and every form of the ARTS. Without it we are reduced to a sub-human level devoid of spirit.
You keep saying you "Dems." I don't believe there are many "Dems" posting here. You say, "Did you or anybody else on this blog ever hear the phrase,; Give me liberty or give me death?" Yup. We talk about it regularly. But, none of us is intending to be a suicide bomber. Are you?
You say, " Sorry for you Kira ,All you want is a CUTE SUIT to tell you what you can and cannot do with your life." You are as wrong as the day is long, sir. I'm tired of your ridiculous hot-headed and inaccurate assessments for which you have no whit of proof. You're simply knee-jerking.
As for your next post asking whether I'm from Florida --- no I'm not. You'd know that if you took the time to study earlier comments on this board. You won't impress anyone if you continue to fling your wild and baseless accusations here. If you don't take time to study then you are another one of the people you are trying to rally us against. A sheeple with an attitude.
I hope you find a group that satisfies you, but until you decide to actually communicate something that actually makes some sense in the fight for our freedom, you probably won't find anybody listening to you.
Good luck.
I'm looking forward to being in DC for the rally,and I hope we see a MILLION people there!!
Hi Jeannie King! Thanks.
I'm with you all the way. The 2 presidential elections were stolen and bu$h has been squatting in the White House - "restoring honor & decency" to it I'm told by the Republicans in my family. We don't talk anymore because they have a "rule" that we don't talk politics (since we disagree.)
I'll be in DC for the 24th, too. I hope we get a MILLION to be there and I hope this time, the MEDIA will pay attention.
Sister,that sounds good to me,I live in a redneck county of IDIOTS and I'm sure there was election fraud here too!I'm staying for the whole 3 days,and I just might bring my guitar,if I can!!What this country needs now is a dose of '60's music to motivate!I'm thinking of finding some musicians in this area,for some rallys to back us up.We are living in the most dangerous time of our lifetime,Bush has painted a GIANT BULLSEYE ON the US!!With a paranoid MANIAC in the White House,I wouldn't be surprised if his intentions are to wipe us ALL OUT,so his murdering,greedy bastards don't have to share anything with anybody!I don't know the full agenda for the weekend,but I hope we have some access to politicians.I think we all should DEMAND a hearing in front of congress.They must ALL SEE,WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!EVERY POLITICIAN MUST ANSWER TO US,WHETHEVER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT!!MAYBE WE SHOULD THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT,AND THE CITIZENS START MAKING THE RULES!!BOTH PARTIES SHOULD BE SCRUTINIZED,THEY SHOULD PROVE TO US THEY CAN BE TRUSTED.I've got a GREAT IDEA,maybe WE could participate in remaking a NEW VERSION OF THE CONSTITUTION!!!Peace
Are you still wanting your choice of 2 CUTE SUITS. America will never have a choice for an honest person as long as YOU closed minded people believe in a 2 party system. Like you, I believe that our current 2 party system is not working, and even corrupt.
Also like you, I'm sick and tired of all the bullshit.
I am very angry too.
Unlike you, I want to find solutions to these problems
by working together with other people who also want to find solutions.
Name calling and casting aspersions only alienates people.
One of the main "guidelines of writing" is to know your intended audience.
In this context, the posters and readers of this blog are the "intended audience".
In general, I have not detected a blind faith in the Democrat Party
in the postings on this blog.
So I think your repetition of "2 CUTE SUITS" does not speak to the audience of this blog.
Maybe there are other blogs out there where your kind of ranting would be appreciated.
If you continue talking like you do on this blog,
people will just skip over your posting without reading it.
I'm not above saying phrases like, "the Bush zombies".
That's because I gave up on trying to have an intelligent conversation with them,
so I don't care if I alienate them.
However, I don't go out of my way to let them know that I think they're zombies,
and that I think they should "wake up".
That kind of speech doesn't wake up ANYONE.
Here's what worked for me, maybe it will be helpful to you too:
I turn my anger down to "simmer" on the back burner.
That way, I can concentrate on making a new recipe,
and maybe get input from other cooks
("taking it with a grain of salt" of course).
Sorry for the hokey analogy.
I'm not one of those people who says, "I don't hate anyone".
But I've learned, through the years, to reserve my hate for
the worst examples of human beings, like Hitler and George W. Bush.
Even then, I rarely let my hate boil over.
And if it does, I turn it back down to simmer.
Hate is not good for the one doing the hating.
I said "hate", but the same goes for anger.
Humor helps to temper the anger.
Like the context of this blog.
I'm just trying to help, because I used to be like you.
to all:
It appears that this thread has been abandoned.
So,
Here is my final posting to this thread:
I enjoy listening to Mike Malloy on Air America Radio.
Mike openly expresses his hatred.
I empathize with his sentiments.
I openly express my HATRED to my friends.
But I try to tone it down,
when talking to strangers, or acquaintances.
It's all about CONTEXT !
"Blind Rage" vs. "Intelligent Dialog".
I wish I could just shout them down,
with the facts of the EVIL system.
But, I know that doesn't work.
I'm smarter than that.
I guess the reason I'm writing this,
is to encourage those who feel like me,
and Mike Malloy, and Dave King,
to reach out to other people who know that
the current system has been co opted (hijacked).
And we know that we must take ACTION to
prevent the complete destruction of the USA.
There will be a massive protest on Sept. 24th,
in Washington, DC.
I cannot travel there.
There will be other protests in every major city too.
September 24th is a Saturday.
I will be there for the body count.
