Brad, let's talk about the reason the GOP can continue to be so arrogant towards the poor and middle class, even in crisis.
It's because of the electronic voting machines and optical scanners made by their GOP donors. They have no fear of being voted out of office. How else can you explain their arrogance of rescinding the minimum wage in the disaster area, repealing the estate tax, I can go on and on with GOP arrogance!
IT'S BECAUSE THEY DON'T FEAR GETTING VOTED OUT! THE ONLY FEAR THAT MAKES OUR OFFICIALS DO WHAT WE WANT!
Right now, they're doing what the 1% elites and corporate America wants, not what the other 99% of Americans need!
It's all because of the voting machines.
GOP arrogance, statements like DeLay's "you're having fun", and Barbara Bush's statements, Bush saying "you're doing a good job, Brownie", then relieving him of duty.
THIS IS BLATANT ARROGANCE TOWARDS AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!

Big Dan, you're right...
"...THEY DON'T FEAR GETTING VOTED OUT!..."
And yet countless politicians & others....people like Al Franken, Bill Maher, Jerry Springer, even Randi Rhodes which surprises me because I KNOW she's on top of things....keep saying things about how we need to vote! How we need to kick them out in '06 and '08!

Thank you Brad for the Velvet Revolution and your work trying to bring honest voting back. There has been and will always be an element of crookedness in the vote from the beginning of time.
But I don't want George Carlin to be right in saying, we really don't have a choice, it is already decided. George Carlin is terrific and a realist but lets make him wrong on this one issue.
And the check REALLY is in the mail.

Voting won't matter unless we sort out:
1) election systems
2) campaign finance

#7 Catch 22:
Republicans control all arms of government (no checks & balances) and --
1) They own the voting machine companies and they don't want to even think about holding an election without the DREs they can manipulate.
2) They don't want to change campaign finance laws unless it means they can get more money.
They control the so-called "liberal media" which will not report on the election fraud issue ... except for a handful of opinion pieces and even then most of those have been rejected by the higher ups at major news media outlets. ---Therefore, a large percentage of the Citizens of this country are STILL unaware of the fraud.
You're right, Catherine A, that voting doesn't matter ... as long as things stay the way they are. We're in a really bad situation right now.
We MUST have media coverage. I'm sick of hearing the media distort what non-republican officials say in order to make it look like bu$h is doing a good job. What utter insanity. Welcome to 1930s Germany.
On the other hand - here's a pretty good blog by Keith Olbermann blasting the admin. re Katrina:
[snip] Lord knows, no one is suggesting that we should ever prioritize levee improvement for a below-sea-level city, ahead of $454 million worth of trophy bridges for the politicians of Alaska.
But, nationally, these are leaders who won re-election last year largely by portraying their opponents as incapable of keeping the country safe. These are leaders who regularly pressure the news media in this country to report the reopening of a school or a power station in Iraq, and defies its citizens not to stand up and cheer. Yet they couldn't even keep one school or power station from being devastated by infrastructure collapse in New Orleans — even though the government had heard all the "chatter" from the scientists and city planners and hurricane centers and some group whose purposes the government couldn't quite discern... a group called The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
And most chillingly of all, this is the Law and Order and Terror government. It promised protection — or at least amelioration — against all threats: conventional, radiological, or biological.
It has just proved that it cannot save its citizens from a biological weapon called standing water.
Mr. Bush has now twice insisted that, "we are not satisfied," with the response to the manifold tragedies along the Gulf Coast. I wonder which "we" he thinks he's speaking for on this point. Perhaps it's the administration, although we still don't know where some of them are. Anybody seen the Vice President lately? The man whose message this time last year was, 'I'll Protect You, The Other Guy Will Let You Die'?
I don't know which 'we' Mr. Bush meant. [snip]

Make a difference today, and add your voice to the masses. Pass it on.
All need to remember: KEEP the pressure on these two items!!!
Create a rising echo around Tom Delay
Tom Delay is the biggest crook next to Hastert and the only guard left to prevent impeachments, make sure this man goes down and is gone.
Tom Delay on a path to destruction His TRMPAC operation was already indicted, and his associates jailed. His friend Jack Abramoff was indicted, and he accepted illegal bribes multiple times. Its only a matter of time and Delay will be indicted, forced on probation and before that he should be out of his position. A new majority leader immediately needs to be delegated by the R's and D's and we make CERTAIN of it.
Get rid of the voting machines!!!!. This is the most important point of all, the voting machines are fraud enabled and proned to stealing elections. The vote reform must be done and done in every single state, including Utah. Make sure to hammer ALL of your elected officials to get rid of the machines and not accept anything less than a verified paper record and manual audit!!!!! NEVER settle for anything less!!
Voting Machines the main problem, voting disaster
Bill needs to be passed immediately, Rush Holt's bill and all the R's and D's must force it through
Truth about election fraud, integrity and uncertainty: Lawsuits and documents
Remember, here is where to go to mail and call
Impeachment is very important so keep the drum going, but laser in on the voting machines to get rid of the crooked elections.
We can't have war crime trials unless the voting machines are done away with. Press the entire majority to sign onto Rush Holt's bill, so there's no more stolen elections and vote stealing.
Keep a laser on the voting and Tom Delay, we want the entire thing thrown out and international courts. Only way to do that is zero in on Delay and get rid of the vote-fraud.

HR 550 (aka Rush Holt's bill) has the following co-sponsors: look here.
Cynthia McKinney (aka ABC) did manage to get on board for this one.

Valley Girl:
Yeah that's a whole lot!!!
We need to hit all the republican holdouts, then when there is over 210 co-sponsors, Tom Delay won't DARE veto it!!!!!
If he does, we'll nail the final one in his coffin so he's out of there. This bill will pass!!

hcocdr - what a laugh. We no longer have a democracy here in the US thanks to the guy you support - there's no way to "bring democracy" to Iraq with them in charge. You obviously don't understand the word.
