I have read that Gary Trudeau's temporary "retirement" was caused by the despair he felt when he realized he would never be as good as Bill Keane.
I've heard that something similar happend to Clapton when he first heard Hendrix.

Wow, I love it. I never even knew the Family Circus was a Christian family, although that does tend to explain the angels all the time, and the cannabalism.

A search for "family circus" brings up other examples of these gloriously screwed up reviews. The reviews are, actually, much more interesting than these insipid cartoons could ever be.
If all those reviewers worked together to write a book...I'd buy that book.
