The lie gets into the media (Thanks so very much NYT) and then into the ARCHIVES.

Lazy and badly educated "journalists" at AP then do a new story, using old archives for "research" and the lie is propagated again and again.

Eventually, it gets into the Texas school curriculum and becomes "common knowledge," just like the "accepted fact" that "Bush won the 2000 and 2004 elections."
