Yes, they eat their own.
Floridiot, you've expressed my thoughts on the matter.
The Republicans are cleaning their own house and while they do so, they are reiterating every sin committed by Democrats in decades past.
Hypocrisy and Pomposity are moral values for this current crop of Republican leaders.
When Hastert was replacing Tom Delay, the Republican argument was that they are all dirty, so just pick the dirty politician with the most experience. That was Hastert. They knew he was tainted but only the tainted once have the needed corporate loyalties.

yeah, that's right --- Blame the page program! It's the program's fault --- and the kids, too, why don't they ban them while they're at it! Congressmen can't be expected to control themselves or behave responsibly toward children....!

Have the republicans lost their political edge? Snow and Drudge marginalizing the pages? Parents don't go for that. Only a couple of days after the detainee bill was passed. Methinks the ones who own bushco aren't happy with what they've got. It's not hard to see there are going to be some more taking a fall. Thanks again Brad for your idea of paper ballot legislation. When and if the repubs. cry foul in Nov. , we can say ,"We tried." Brilliant political move.

Henry Hyde is going to replace Hastert! UGH!
I have my doubts about this whole thing. It certainly has been used to get the destruction of the constitution to save Bush's sorry butt out of the news.
That was the worst thing that has ever happened to the country, and it hasn't been covered anywhere!

You are celebrating too soon folks, Hastert's departure will open the door to a long mainstream obsession about the horserace to fill his seat--a sideshow.
Congress will break soon and the national focus on anything is solely the President't forum on teevee--the Dems will be out there pitching to the local crowd. The question is whether they have the wherewithal and the gumption to pitch effectively in a local market about a national theme which barely had time to come to boil.
I doubt it. I want to be wrong in this case, but I have a bad feeling.

"Foley is NOT a pedophile and he apologizes for what he did while under the influence of alcohol"
Oh, well - I guess it's alright then!
"Your honor, John Doe is not a drunk driver and he apologizes for the people he killed while under the influence of alcohol"
That's the ticket!

Boy are they ever spinning it now!
Bush Echoes Hastert's Comments on Foley
"Hours after a conservative Washington newspaper called for Hastert's resignation, Bush referred to the speaker as a ``father, teacher, coach'' and said he supports Hastert's call for an investigation.
``I know Denny Hastert. I meet with him a lot. I know that he wants all the facts to come out,'' the president said.
So let's blame the Democrats!
"Boehner also suggested that campaign opponents might have made
sure the e-mails surfaced close to midterm elections. ``If this
evidence was withheld for political purposes, one can only
speculate as to how many additional children may have been
endangered before this information was finally revealed,'' he
wrote."
I say the repugs held it off until they could use it as cover for passing the torture bill and the 100-0 vote for $480 billion more in war toys!

The Fox News folks and 2 Florida dailies had the same emails by Foley and sat on the story --for months. The excuse they are suing is identical to Hastert's defense of himself: you don't call someone a pedophile based on the content of the email ABC first used on the air. Second line of defense: "especially if the parents of the kid" did not want to go public.
Jiu-jitsu is starting. The echo chamber is aligning its message. The news cycle is grinding into its evening news cycle. Raw Story says ABC will release another name or set of names related to the pages.
The Dems are not with it.

I said it before and I will say it again,
Every single person that was appointed or elected since electronic voting machines existed needs to have their security clearance's yanked, and if they want to wiretap, start with the people running our government.
If we are at war then start acting like it.
We also need to regain control of the Public Airwaves, the fcc is a Bush appointee. They are not doing their stated goal anymore.
And for these people that keep getting indicted and busted, their power in our government needs to be immediatly revoked (If they can prove innocence, fine then re-instate it) otherwise this insanity needs to stop. This is domestic terrorism, by a cult that has not even been elected by the people.
All this torture crap and surveilance. What good is it to someone that don't use electronics? It won't stop a damn thing. You could hand deliver a USB stick and not end up in the echelon database. Hell you could deliver a piece of paper and have more security now.
And where are they storing all this data? Oh that's right in all those databases and computers that keep getting stolen. I bet the White House will just claim their email servers were cracked next and that they lost all their logs and data.
You are witnessing the DEADLY ABUSE of technology. Technology has great use's I freely admit that, but the invisible electron and electromagnetic wave are being used against us domestically, in a abusive grab of power, these people don't want Iraq to get fixed, they want it to stay the way it is, they want to profit off the war. The soldiers who are doing their job as per their sworn oaths are being lied to, and when they find out the truth, they are going to be pissed.
I served in the USAF and swore an oath to protect the president against all enemies foreign and domestic, and to protect the United States Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I am fucking telling you there is DOMESTIC TERRORISTS destroying our United States Constitution, and frankly I am worried now that one day I might disappear in the middle of the night for TELLING YOU.
Will I stop speaking out? NO. But If I disappear, you know WHO did it and WHY.
Sorry if I am off topic, I been waiting for an OT thread. I think this is becoming just about as important as electronic vote machine vulnerabilities and the impending doom coming.
I may not be as smart as some educated journalist, I know enough to know right from wrong, and when the people break their oath of office to protect the United States Constitution.

I agree with you there, but how are "we the people" supposed to stop it? They know we can't. And they're doing all they can to keep people as uninformed & as powerless as possible. Fix the vote & give 'em sex scandals to drown out any discussion of torture & the erosion of our rights.
Yesterday in my local paper the foley story was on the front page, & on page three or so was the torture bill story. Today, there were three or four separate foley articles, nothing on the torture bill.
These are dark, dark times for our country.

NOW...on Raw Story, it's saying Foley was molested by clergy. Funny how it takes the MSM less than 24 hours to find this out??? That's fishy!!!
http://www.rawstory.com/...ient_abused_as_1003.html
So, here's how a Republican fesses up to a pedofile crime: he commits himself to rehab to escape immediate scrutiny (covered by laws) and blames the clergy.
Hmmmm...Bush blames Clinton for 9/11 even though HE was president...pattern here? No accountability???
Rice doesn't "remember" being warned about 9/11 imminent threat...

Be sure to watch the first one tomorrow. Check your local listing for the exact time! It's a two hour show in prime time Wednesday 4th.
This show will be GREAT! It is going to cover the corruption of the government with some emphasis on the Republican (phony) christian right. You know. Tom Delay, Ralph Reed, Jack Abramoff! Also will cover Grover Norquist, and probably Carl Rove!
Two hours of Bill Moyers, guns-a-blazin'

Ok, my project for tomorrow, and I hope I'm not too off-topic here, is calling senators & congresspeople & asking them to SPEAK OUT ABOUT THE TORTURE BILL. Can I persuade a few of you to do likewise?
I plan to say:
Enough about foley! What, sex scandals are NEW in DC?
I EXPECT people like hannity & limbaugh to talk up the foley story 24/7, but here is a news flash: foley's distaseful adventures do not threaten our republic: the torture bill DOES!! This is a VERY SERIOUS issue and
serious democrats should be asking serious questions, such as:
Isn't it curiously convenient for the administration that no one's talking about torture anymore, or the Bill of Rights or the Constitution or our rights having been taken away with a sweep of the pen? Because they HAVE been!
Someone sent me a list of the votes for & against the torture bill. There were quite a few dems who voted FOR it, my senator bill nelson, among them.
These are the dems who supported the torture bill:
Carper (D-DE), Landrieu (D-LA), Lautenberg (D-NJ),
Lieberman (D-CT), Menendez (D-NJ), Nelson (D-FL),
Nelson (D-NE), Pryor (D-AR), Rockefeller (D-WV),
Salazar (D-CO), Stabenow (D-MI).
The sole republican to vote no was Lincoln Chafee; and Jeffords, the independant, also voted no.
So if your senator voted no, it might be a good idea to call & thank them, & ask them to USE THEIR VOICE and SPEAK UP about it! It is wrong, it is deplorable, it is UN-AMERICAN. And THEY need to say that it is!
I already called bill nelson's office & told them that I've always been a democrat & always vote, but that I'm seriously considering not voting for him, even though his opponent is katherine harris, because what good is it, I asked them, to have a FAKE democrat like joe lieberman or zell miller? At least with old kathy I know what I've got. It's not GOOD, but at least I know what it is!

The first thing that should be done, is a four times a year drug test for ALL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES.
STARTING NOW.
If caught using a drug that is not prescribed by a doctor then that person gets their security clearance yanked.
This will likely result in more "hits" of some more folks placed in high places.
Or are we saying that our leaders can use illegal drugs?
Get the DEA going .

I'm starting to wonder if Foley didn't do this on purpose! There was a woman who was on C-Span and Larry King who said he may not have committed a crime because he never actually tried to get together with the page. Foley would know the exact law, because he helped pen it! If Foley can't be charged with a crime, Hastert sure as hell can't be. Besides, we now know that these bastards can get away with outing CIA agents just for fun!
This would work out to the republican's benefit in ASTOUNDING WAYS. We all know that Gonzales has been wanting to control the internet using "exploited children" as the excuse along with Ashcroft, who was working harder on pornography and "marijuana crimes" then terrorism. This seems to be pure politics! A hideous shell game!
David Gergen was also on Larry King and is always the guy who shows up to give his "unbiased opinion". COME ON DAVID. You're a smart guy! Did you actually forget that the constitution was given away last week. Don't you have anything better to do then get caught up in a discussion of gooey E-mails!
In two years, those 16 year old pages could be in Iraq or Iran blowing the hell out of 5 year olds. Are all you good Christian people who are so worried about your children being "exploited" going to be happy to have your kid come back without limbs, fighting for a constitution that doesn't exist anymore!
When the theology completely takes over, maybe after the November elections, it's very unlikely that another "priest scandal" is ever going to errupt.
Talk about pornography!

I think you're right! The legislation against the internet is probably ready to roll. If the congress is willing to trash the constitution to save Bush from prison, they won't hesitate for one second to pass a law that supposedly helps children.
Don't forget this also plays right into their "gay people are pedophiles" infrastucture. Although there may be some litigation for these thugs, it will not hurt them much if at all in the end!
From what I've heard, the reality about pedophilia is that 90% of it happens IN THE HOME OR THROUGH THE CHURCH, (or possibly congress) and involves FRIENDS OR FAMILY! Not on the internet or with gay strangers.
And don't forget, one of the dictionary definitions of congress is SEXUAL INTERCOURSE.
I would be as delighted as anyone to see this bring down the current Republican party, but in fact it won't and I feel we must "disenthrall ourselves" before it's too late!

This whole situation shows that the GOP leadership is more concerned about politics than the safety of our children. Thousands of people across the country are calling on their Representatives to push for Hastert to step down as House Speaker due to his lack of judgment and poor leadership. Contact your Representative and tell them the same.
