Buffalo’s alternative weekly, The Beast, today runs a pretty candid (okay, very candid) Q&A they did with me about a week or so ago, when I was rather angry. Kinda like today, or any other day within the past week (or month, or 4 years).
It’s a pretty good interview, if I say so myself. And I’ll be sure to keep it in my pocket next time some idiot (either Republican or Democratic) accuses me of being a “partisan.”
And while I hate tooting my own horn, when has that ever stopped me before? So here’s Al Uthman’s intro to the Q&A:

right on, Brad!
i loved the comparison of repubs & dems as Dr. Frankenstien & Igor. it made me think of Pinky & The Brain-
“hey, what are we doin’ today?”
“same thing we tried yesterday-
TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!”
Brad, I like the way you think.
One more thought on our disappointing Democrats. I think they’re exhibiting “learned helplessness.”
A researcher, Seligman, kept dogs in cages where he subjected them to shocks. When an escape hatch was presented, they were restrained. They could not escape those shocks. Then, when they were no longer restrained, the dogs didn’t try to escape even when still being subjected to shocks. It took a very long time and dozens of attempts to get the dogs to escape the shocks.
Our Democratic leaders are not necessarily pussies, they’ve been shocked over and over again and now they do not know how to escape.
Excellent interview.
maybe it’s time to keep statistics on who gets threatened when they try to speak out- look what happened to Ion Sancho, Bruce Funk, Jennifer Brunner, Kevin Shelley. Who else would be on the list of people who spoke out and ended up having the hell intimidated out of them? Could that explain the behavior of the Dems?
LORA – I did the same kind of research with dogs at the same time Seligmann did. The significant difference between what you report and my work was there was always a warning buzzer before the shock. They could have avoided the shock during the buzzer but about one-third of my dogs ignored the buzzer, cowered and took the shock. What does it take to get dogs/people to heed a warning?
Keep warning us Brad!
