We can only hope that Matthews will watch this video, see te truth in it, and then challenge himself to do better in 2008.

During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet – Al Gore, CNN 1999
"I called for a congressional investigation and a hearing, I looked around the country for other sites like that. I found a little place in upstate New York called Love Canal. Had the first hearing on that issue, and Toone, Tennessee---that was the one that you didn't hear of. But that was the one that started it all." – Al Gore, New Hampshire 1999
Ummmm…the fact is he said them…sure he may have meant something else. He was chest thumping and got caught by a machine that likes to bring egos down to size.

caddstudent: The name was "Göbels" (although your version would lead a US-citizen to pronaunce it as good as can be expected, lacking the "Umlauts" we inherited from the Turks) and people often overlook the devestating effect he had on the war. It was him how asked "Do you want the total war" and - of cause - got a drawn out "Yeeesss" from the crowd. See the movie "The bunker" and learn what he and his wife did to their kids...

OMSmedia,
Matthews continues to leave out the crucial word initiative. Did Gore single handedly improve our economy and our environment? Of course not, he took the initiative --- as he states. So for Matthews or you to interpret his line the way you do is dishonest as you seem to acknowledge.
Why don't you mention the Love Story line? Because it is true. That alone would make Matthews continued rhetoric dishonest.
Finally, there is nothing wrong with the Love Canal quote as you wrote it. What happened is that many in the media changed Gore's words to read "I was the one who started it all". Which, he did not say as Matthews himself realized and corrected back in 99. The real line was "THAT was the one that started it all."
Thus Matthews is a dishonest propagandist. And you should ask yourself why you believe that is even remotely okay. To your credit, though, you deserve points for acknowledging the existence of the machine. Most wingers would never admit as much.

Hey, Phil!
Sorry. I was dead to the world... now bumping into walls.... JoJ went a little crazy with italics. If you don't close your tags before posting your comment, you can't fix it with the next comment like you used to be able to do in the old days. One of us has to go in through the software and fix it now. Thanks for the holler.

Well, I took a break and crunched some numbers from one of your other articles. If the results are to be believed Hillary managed to win 60.20% of all the votes read by Diebold machines and only 35.56% of the hand counted ballots. So, don't call me a nut case. This is outright voter fraud. Mind you I only compared her percentages to Senator Obama's.
