Rep. Cunningham says he's sorry. He is like every
crooked, greedy, lying felon; the only thing he's sorry about is the fact that he was caught. Ten years isn't enough punishment for Cunningham and
his ilk. One down, and too many to count waiting in the wings for their day in court.

same sentence a dope smoker would get in some states.
"Cunningham had already said he would not seek reelection in 2006. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 27 when he could be ordered to spend 10 years in prison and pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.
Cunningham's guilty plea followed several months of investigation by the
Internal Revenue Service, the criminal investigative arm of the
Pentagon, the
FBI and federal prosecutors.
"Yes, your honor," Cunningham said when Judge Larry Burns asked him if he had accepted bribes."
might be time to build a "bush pardon me penitentiary"

After looking at the list on madsen it is amazing how far the Abramoff tentacles have reached.
89 of 141 with Abramoff or ARNPAC ties. 63%
Unreal!

There is SUCH satisfaction in watching the dominoes finally fall.
Sounds to me like it's a great time for a good House (and Senate) cleaning!

I'm glad the S.O.B. got caught, too. But what about the people who paid the bribes? Do they get to walk? If so, it's a safe bet they'll be bribing someone else's congressman soon...just doing it more cleverly so nobody finds out.

“Duke Cunningham is a hero,” DeLay said during a press briefing Tuesday. “He is an honorable man of high integrity.”
He can't be all that bad if DeLay says he isnt...................oh damn, I just threw up trying to say that.
Send them both to jail together!!!

DeLay seems to go out of his way to be outrageous. Here one of his colleagues is resigning from the House, admitting he took $2.4 million in bribes, thereby disgracing himself and betraying the trust of his constitutents, and DeLay extols him publicly as a man of high character and integrity.
What motivates the Tom DeLays of this world? Is he trying to say conservatives can accept bribes but liberals can't? That Cunningham is really innocent, but pled guilty for some higher purpose?
Anyone who still doubts that the last two presidential elections were stolen should pay attention to DeLay here. If someone can be so contemptuous of the law as to proclaim someone's high integrity even as that person pleads guilty to accepting bribes and faces a jail sentence, would that same advocate hesitate for a moment to steal votes en masse?
There's a level of lawlessness among Republicans that goes beyond sleaze. It's sleaziness combined with a contempt for judgment. Very Fascist, really.
