America gone blue!?
Oh shit, I’m moving the nation’s capital to Wyoming!
Wyoming, here I come!
Hi 😀
We are working on a Grassroots Media Campaign for liberal issues and causes. We are putting pressure on the media to stop Republican propaganda, stop the war, stop torture, and stop the spin from corrupt politicians.
We would appreciate your posting this link, writing a letter, signing a petition… Please participate and feel free to pass this link around the left. It’s time for our voices to rise together above the din.

George – You always make me smile 🙂
George Walker Bullshit was kidding about moving the government to Wyoming, but he might be on to something.
Is there any law that says the entire federal government has to be in one place? For example, couldn’t we keep the Pentagon in Arlington, but move the Supreme Court to Chicago, the White House to wherever the president comes from (most presidents would prefer that), the Treasury Department to New York (they do whatever Wall Street wants, anyway), and the Department of Energy to New Orleans (help the rebuilding), the Department of Education to an inner city (where it’s really needed), the Interior Department out West somewhere, and the Federal Reserve Bank to anywhere.
Congress could spend one month a year in the Capitol in Washington (they’re always on recess, so it wouldn’t make that big a difference), and rotate among the state capitals the rest of the time. If my Senator, Joe Lieberman, actually had to spend time in Silicon Valley, he’d understand better how stock options work…instead of taking the word of dotcom executives that they’re good for the economy.
Consider what would be gained by relocating the government. "Inside-the-Beltway" would no longer be a meaningful phrase. The Washington press corps would morph into a literary diaspora, to the betterment of everyone. Lobbyists would have to find real jobs. Congress would see how the other half lives. And if terrorists decided to strike, they wouldn’t have an entire government in one place.
Sound silly? Who would have ever guessed that Citicorp would move operations to South Dakota? Or that Dell’s service reps would talk to us from India? Does Disney conduct its operations from a single place called Disney World?
The bush admin had the idea of bombing al-jazeera long ago:
‘Coworkers told me I was on another planet – there is absolutely no way that the President would ever consider bombing within a friendly country. This just made me even more determined to check out my gut feeling. So I did what determined-but-lazy people do. I did a Google search.
Sure enough, a search for “bomb al Jazeera” led me to this article, written in September 2003 by Frank Gaffney, in which he recommends “taking out” al Jazeera “one way or another.”
Who is Frank Gaffney? Well, he’s a former Undersecretary of Defense for Ronald Reagan, and was a part of the Project for a New American Century with Cheney, Rumsfeld and the gang. He’s still described as a Pentagon advisor.
Of course, this proves nothing. But it does at least show that the idea to bomb al Jazeera out of existence wasn’t an idea that had never been discussed on some level by people with influence. It had been discussed, and probably had been discussed within the Pentagon, via the prodding of Frank Gaffney. ‘

What this DOES prove is the Bush admin is lying when it denies it has ever entertained such an idea.
