The current American administration wants to be a law unto itself. It does not want to represent the desires or interests of the American people, it does not want to be accountable to the American people, it does not want to be answerable to the courts, it simply wants to do whatever it wants, whenever and however it wants. It is a rogue Administration --- AMERICA, TAKE BACK YOUR COUNTRY!

So, the DOD/SD want to make it so that not only do they not have to release abuse pictures (setting a precedent for any other embarrassing documents that may be requested), they also want to make it so that they don't even have to give a reason (not even a stupidly ostensible one such as "it'll cause riots", or "national security") for not releasing them. Another fantastic precedent.
Soon, methinks, if they get their way it will become a crime to publish even wholly backed-up factual accounts of war crimes - because... "it'll cause riots" (but of course, we won't know thats the reason, because they'll not have to give a reason for prosecution).
Y'know, I always wondered what it was like in Italy in the 20s, or Germany in the 30s... I'm wondering if it was like this...

The similarities between the Neocons and the Nazis is striking. It wouldn't suprise me to learn they patterned themselves after Adolf's crew. Guess human nature never changes, but, thank God, we've got the internet.

I grew up in what I believed to be the greatest nation on earth. America established the standard by which the the nations of the world were measured. Our open-arms greeting to the oppressed and struggling individuals from every land created an oasis for all.
We were a breath of fresh air. We took pride in the integrity and compassion of our nation. We were the champion for all the right reasons.
I long for those days.
Our children deserve; we deserve, a future in which America is regarded as not a pit of pain, but a pillar of integrity, not a creature of cruelty, but a companion of humanity.
The future starts now.
