On today’s BradCast, what else? We dissect last night’s GOP debate on CNN at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, CA.
My guests are fantastic! Our old friend, Heather Digby Parton — Salon contributor, Hillman Foundation opinion journalism award winner, and proprietor of Digby’s Hullabaloo blog — joins us for the hour!
And I’m delighted to welcome back to The BradCast, Fred Karger, the former longtime Republican political consultant, 2012 GOP Presidential candidate, the first openly gay Presidential candidate from either major party and now “indefatigable” activist for equal rights.
No need to tease too much more, frankly. Find out what “Digby” and Karger, who is still (incredibly enough) a Republican — though “hanging on by his fingernails” — thought about last night’s circus and if any of it will finally shake the party loose from its Trump fever dreams.
Debate analysis and insight that you won’t hear anywhere else — on what actually matters and what actually doesn’t. Enjoy!

Norman J. Ornstein, a political scientist and resident scholar at the ultra-conservative American Enterprise Institute was on the Diane Rehm show the day after the debate and had this to say about Fiorina’s latest lie:
But the house of “representatives” goes ahead and votes to defund Planned Parenthood anyway. Just another case of “there’s no difference between Republicans and Democrats, huh? 🙂
Republicans Yeas – 239 Nays – 3
Democrats Yeas – 2 Nays – 184
Americans don’t want Planned Parenthood defunded. Which party is representing us folks?

Brad, Flash doesn’t play on most cell phones and mobile devices. I had once installed a nasty program on my cellphone that allowed flash to play but it waa so full of malware, I got rid of it. A huge and growing percentage of people exclusively surf the Internet on mobile devices. You’re cutting them off. Also, it’s time to use a program to transcribe your radio shows. The programs for that have gotten quite good. Also, your site is not mobile-compatible. Taking care of all that would vastly improve user experience.
I watched about an hour of the debate and all I saw was all of them shouting, look at me. I am tougher that these other people on stage. Obama has destroyed our country and we have got to take it back. My question is Take it back to what? Losing jobs at a rate of 800,000 a month and only a couple months more and we would be in a depression. Anyone notice any chevy’s, buicks caddies, Chrysler vehicles on the road and how many jobs there is making those products. All except Paul would have us at war with Iran in months of taking over.
They were all standing in Reagan library and so proud of their idle. Oliver, Casey and by proxy Bush and Reagan committed treason by trading with Iran in their illegal Iran/Contra affair. What short memories Americans have.
Adam @ 3:
Lack of flash on mobile devices is one of the reasons I also include the “Download MP3” link right above the flash player. You should be able to hit that on your mobile device and the show will start playing!
Let me know if that is not the case over there, of course. (Also, all of the RSS feeds are always included in each item so that folks can use their mobile device’s RSS player, like iTunes, or whatever, to get each show as well.)
As to the lack of mobile friendly design here: Guilty. But largely for reasons that have to do with lack of money to do the full overhaul of our system that would be required to make it happen.
Still hoping to get there. But it’s largely for lack of funding, not lack of interest, that we’ve yet been able to make that design upgrade.

Right! Whoops. Brad, I somehow missed that mp3 link. I wouldn’t have missed it with with a big red arrow and idiot-proof instructions like, “Mobile Users, click on this to hear show.”
