A group of voters in Alameda Co California has stepped-up with help from VoterAction to file a lawsuit against the use of the Sequoia voting system in Nov. / VoterAction is also active in Wisconsin where they ‘asked state regulators today to revoke approval of four types of electronic voting machines before next month’s election.’ / Testing of the E-Poll Books by Maryland has been completed and Diebold is declaring the testing a success though there were still a minimum of problems and the state has been quiet on their decision. The most troublesome problem from the primary has not been fixed, however. In Tuesday’s testing a computer mouse was used instead of the normally required stylus and the touch-screen / ES&S is, again, having problems meeting contractual dates in delivering paper ballots. Counties in Montana have waited over two weeks for their ballots….

Can you all get this information out about the LA Registrar’s office. I found this post at BlackBoxVoting.

      This posted at BBV

Activists in L.A. have been filing public records requests. When the registrar was asked for computer file information this was her response:

“We have determined that release of the above information, a through d, could compromise the security of election data by revealing the underlying structure of the vote tally programs, its sequence of execution, and the underlying logic of the software through the logical pattern of program?names. Additionally, the software is proprietary. As such, the records will?not be disclosed because the public interest served by not disclosing the?record clearly outweighs the public interest served by disclosure of the?record. (Government Code § 6255 subdivision (a).)”

We had a fun worldcantwait gathering in Salt Lake. About 30 people showed up at the morning event. I wasn’t able to attend the later events and hope the rain didn’t keep too many away!
