OK, enough with the sappy reminiscing. Lets jump right into the conspiracy mud pit.
Mike Malloy proved to Webster Tarpley he was no "leftist gatekeeper" and had him on for two and a half hours. The longest time he's ever given a guest. Wasn't boring.
Download the show from August 3rd here.

Thanks, middleworld. Hal David wrote the lyrics and Burt Bacharach wrote the music. While you may only see the words here, we're hearing the music too. So. Proper credit is now given, and thanks to you.

Agent 99:
De Niro had me in the palm of his hand after that scene. A great movie moment! One of the funniest movies I've ever seen is "Midnight Run". De Niro and Charles Grodin are unbelievable!
I just remembered there's a sappy song with a 9-11 theme.
"Have you forgotten" by Darryl Worley (sniff):
You're about to hear the truth about 9-11 Darryl. Wipe away your tears, eat your pride and grab your sidearm cowboy! The posse's heading out at the crack of dawn!

As long as we're doing David/Bacharach stuff, here's how a song from "Promises, Promises" might sound if it were updated to the present:
"What do you get when you bomb Iraq?
You get enough woes, you think they own ya'
Those folks you freed, would sooner stone ya'
I'll...never bomb Iraq again
I'll...never bomb Iraq again
"What do you get when you dis the world?
They dis you back, and that goes double
That's what you get, for all your trouble
I'll...never dis the world again
I'll...never dis the world again
Don't tell me what it's all about
'Cause I've been there and there ain't no doubt
Out of those chains, those chains that bind ya'
Insurgents rise, and they're sure to remind ya'
Don't...ever bomb Iraq again
Don't...ever bomb Iraq again

Yep. De Niro de man. Everybody should use Larry Bergan's link at #2. It's Malloy with Webster Tarpley for the whole show, and it brings a lot to the table. It sheds much more light on the events of 9/11, and may be crucial to any kind of understanding that will bear fair fruit. TAKE THE TIME. You can fast forward through the intro and commercial breaks, and, still better, you can back up and listen to what he says over again, until you believe your ears. Exposing yourself to this information could well make all the difference. Mike Malloy's 3 August show. Listen to it early and often. It has finally explained Democratic pusillanimity, and ineffectiveness to me; finally put to rest the question of design vs. incompetence. WE MUST HEAR IT. No kidding. This is not a drill.

I cant wait to see Isreal destroyed just like the nobel Iran President wants. It truely is the only way to stop the fighting. When we take the houses this fall, we must urge the government to stop supporting Isreal and their bombing of innocents.
On a side note, anyone catch Chavez getting a medal from Iran's President? More proof of how out of touch this dictator Bush is.
Let us pray that the poor Lebonez people can overcome the tyrant Isreal and the infidels can be stopped once and for all!
You guys have been great supporters of the cause and we would like to thank you and others like you for the factual coverage of the situation. Down with the infidels! Isreals started this war, and we finish it!

I watched 'Enron..The Smartest Guys in the Room' recently (speaking of ugly) & there's this haunting, raspy Tom Waits song during the ending credits, that just...well...you just gotta hear it. These are the lyrics:
God's Away On Business:
"I'd sell your heart to the junkman baby
For a buck, for a buck
If you're looking for someone
To pull you out of that ditch
You're out of luck, you're out of luck
The ship is sinking
The ship is sinking
The ship is sinking
There's leak, there's leak,
In the boiler room
The poor, the lame, the blind
Who are the ones that we kept in charge?
Killers, thieves, and lawyers
God's away, God's away,
God's away on Business. Business.
God's away, God's away,
God's away on Business. Business.
Digging up the dead with
A shovel and a pick
It's a job, it's a job
Bloody moon rising with
A plague and a flood
Join the mob, join the mob
It's all over, it's all over, it's all over
There's a lick, there's a lick,
In the boiler room
The poor, the lame, the blind
Who are the ones that we kept in charge?
Killers, thieves, and lawyers
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
God's away, God's away,
On Business. Business.
[Instrumental Break]
Goddamn ther's always such
A big temptation
To be good, To be good
There's always free cheddar in
A mousetrap, baby
It's a deal, it's a deal
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
God's away, God's away, God's away
On Business. Business.
I narrow my eyes like a coin slot baby,
Let her ring, let her ring
God's away, God's away,
God's away on Business.
Business..."

Hurray I awake from yesterday
Alive but the war is here to stay
So my love catherina and me
Decide to take our last walk thru the noise to the sea
Not to die but to be reborn
Away from the lands so battred and torn
Forever forever
Oh say can you see it’s really such a mess
Every inch of earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lipstick-tube shaped things
Continue to rain and cause screamin’ pain
And the arctic stains from silver blue to bloody red
As our feet find the sand
And the sea is straight ahad
Straight up ahead
Well it’s too bad that our friends can’t be with us today
Well it’s too bad
The machine that we built
Would never save us that’s what they say
That’s why they ain’t comin’ with us today
And they also said it’s impossible
For a man to live and breathe undrerwater
Forever was a main complaint
Yeah and they also threw this in my face they said
Anyway you know good and well
It would be beyond the will of god
And the grace of the king
Grace of the king
Yeah
Ooo
So my darling and I make love in the sand
To salute the last moment ever on dry land
Our machine it has done it’s work played it’s part well
Without a scratch on our body when we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under we take our last look at the killing noise
Of the out of style
The out of style out of style oh yeah
Oooo
So down and down and down and down we go
Hurry my darlin’ we mustn’t be late
For the show
Neptune champion games to an aqua world is so my dear
Right this way smiles a mermaid
I can hear atlantis full of cheer
Atlantis full of cheer
I can hear atlantis full of cheer
Oh yeah

Thanks for the open thread, the OT where we can go OT! Nice start, fellow Bradvillians. I love that image too, JOJ, and Joan, and I've been wishing for a couple of years now that enough of us could get together and each mail a bag o' them tricky ole pretzels to our preznit at about the same time. It might get dicey for them, how to handle 6 or 7 bags of pretzels, if ya think about the logistics and the possibilities for publicity and ridicule, satire, parody, etc. Sure, the message is utterly nasty, but in this case I believe it's not just justified, it's called for by all that is sacred.

How interesting is this! Gandhi as good as absolved Muslims for all "acts of terror" they would undoubtedly be accused of once the State of Israel was forcibly created in the middle of "Muslim lands" at the point of the barrel of a gun. He had advised the US and UK to use honey instead of vinegar if Jews ever hoped to live in peace among Muslims. The West, of course, did not listen. That was a full ten years before the creation of Israel.
It's a pity that cultural differences make concepts like Ahimsa and Satyagraha, which Gandhi considered evidence of moral strength and real courage, manifest themselves as “pussy” or signs of weakness to the western mindset.
Not that it matters anymore but very interesting never the less.

I hate to break the mood of this thread. We all need to take some downtime from the many evils we chose to confront in our separate ways. So I'll call to your collective attention potentially good news from south of the border. According to narconews.com the Mexican Fed. Election officials appear to have taken a half step forward for Democracy. They have authorized a partial recount. Also the good citizens of Oaxaca continue to hold the State Gov. Ruiz and his henchmen at bay. There is hope as long as people resist.
Special Note For Agent 99
In the pics that narconews has posted concerning Oaxaca there are some tough looking Mamas fighting for freedom. What you do so well with words these gals appear ready to perform on the Gov with a wooden spoon. Ouch!!!!!!!

Walk along and talk along and live your lives quite freely
But leave our children with their toys of peppermint and candy.
For seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie.
Your thoughts they are of harlequin, your speeches of quicksilver,
I read your faces like a poem, kaleidoscope of hate words.
For seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie.
On the quilted battlefields of soldiers dazzling made of toy tin
The big bomb like a child's hand could sweep them dead just so to win.
For seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie.
As you fill your glasses with the wine of murdered negroes
Thinking not of beauty that spreads like morning sun-glow.
Seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie.
I pray your dreams of vivid screams of children dying slowly
And as you polish up your guns your real self be reflecting.
For seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie.
Vietnam Iraq, your latest game, you're playing with your blackest Queen
Damn your souls and curse your grins, I stand here with a fading dream.
For seagull I don't want your wings,
I don't want your freedom in a lie

Update on South of the Border.
Reuters has posted on the "Recount" and their take is not as positive as narconews. If you read between the lines it seems that Senor Obrador looks upon the 9% recount as maybe an attempt to cherry pick the "Recount" results. At least that is my humble take. Makes sense and explains Obradors' strong rejection of the move. Shit! I was trying to find some good news guys, I guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Thanks so much for your support. I don't think women should be made to wrestle up from underneath so many layers of cultural bias to be able to play hardball when this much is at stake. I am heavily in favor of achieving comity with even those of "clashing" ideologies, and I am a peacenik on the cellular level, further in than my marrow. Guess what!
"Peacenik" does not mean wimp, or girl, or even utter nonviolence. One has to deal with the real, and sometimes the real will not allow you to just hold up the peace symbol and shuffle on. Sometimes the lives of thousands and thousands and thousands of our fellow humans are at stake, and now even our planet is at stake. True humans get busy in times like these. There really does come a point where self-interest has to drop, and the interest of life itself must be upheld.
So. Thanks guys. I mean it. Thank you.

Well, the most effective weapon "lops off the head of delusion" and, so, therefore, it is not always experienced as weaponry at all... something more like music.
Quoth Albert Einstein, when asked how he could accomplish such feats as he did just in his head: "Truth makes music."
Truth is avoided, and indeed fought, at all costs by those who feel they will lose something should it will out, even when it's only a comfortable illusion they prefer to preserve. And truth attracts, indeed soothes and energizes, even when it's awful, all those who would use it to manifest positive intent. Wooden spoons can serve as mightily as swords; they ARE swords: swords of truth.
So the monks are happy to make these spoons, and donate them to all who might use them in service of fundamental reality, the truth.

Structural distortions, propaganda, and suppression of the truth by the American media deny the United States citizenry a clear picture of who is perpetrating the atrocities in the Middle East on a regular basis.
The international media, even Canada run balanced media stories of the endless Israeli and Palestinian daily conflicts and asking pointed questions of why more is not done, an effort is not made to bring less war and more peace and harmony to the area. News interviews of American media would not dare ask in depth and balanced questions as seen in these international media news clips. Why are the viewpoints we are given so one sided, could it be the intentions of those who control the media. The American taxpayers
blindly supports the Israeli government, her apartheid
policies, her unjust interventions and and endless
neo-con wars. Our guns, our bullets, our war planes,
our helicopters, our most advanced weaponry, smart bombs and munitions bring much suffering to those who live in this area. The American taxpayer's wallets of financial support for Israel should be slammed shut
and no longer monetarily condone this madness of perpetual and endless warmongering.
Dare to compare international access to more balanced media of events transpiring in the Middle East.

What about Leonard Cohen? His lyrics have been timely for about six years now:
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died
Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows
And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows
And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows
Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows

As usual, the msm isn't pointing out how unacceptable Snow's comments about American citizens are. It's FOX news at the white house, pretty soon they'll have Hannnity and Limbaugh there.

Has anyone noticed that after we entered WW II, really in 1942 ... declared war a few weeks before end of 1941) we were in it about the same time as we have been in Iraq?
And as a smaller power than now, we placed democracy in three nations, all larger than Iraq?
Japan, Germany, and Italy. And removed fascists from France.
This present dunce republican dictatorship has done nothing but make things worse and worse for as long as it took a militarily weaker US to do three of them.
And they are still democracies.

Dredd #63, thats because the Republicans are trying to remove the Democracy, and install a Fascist (corporate) Dictatorship (oiligarchy) in Iraq IMO, and the people are fighting against it
And as long as we HAVA shitty voting system here, we will never give up the fight either

Fascists and imperialists made the mistake of preemptively striking an industrial democracy with a strong anti-fascist, anti-imperialist leader. As a result, they lost and were made into democracies themselves. It seems we accomplished this by adopting their fascism and imperialism as our own, as we went ahead and preemptively attacked several nations. Now the historic question is what happens when these principles drive a right-wing government to clash with an already-despotic nation?

Good morning er afternoon!
I was out at the grocery store last night when another shopper noticed my tyedye shirt and struck up a conversation about the 60's. Beginning with the cost of groceries it evolved into the cost of fuel and finally to alternative energy concepts. The man was very informed and quite sincere. We talked in the isle for about half an hour.
When he was finished he appologized for taking my time, I told him not to worry and that it was refreshing to talk with someone who was informed, rather than the average person who doesn't take the time to know what's going on around them.
Then this morning, in the letters to the editor, I find:
"Pipe Down You Liberal Whiners - There's been a whole lot of whining about Reps.John Doolittle and Richard Pompo siphoning money for themselves using their families as consultants. Seems like the only people who care about that are whiney liberals who never gave them a dime anyway. How's it their business? We who gave them the money don't care. So long as they get themselves elected, and then we get what we paid for after, why would we care if he keeps some of it for himself? Isn't that the whole point of giving him the money? We would only get mad if he keeps too much of the money, fails to get elected and then doesn't come through on his promises to us."
Sheesh!
(I keep looking for a clue that this is satire, but I also know people who think that way)

Right, the GOP has done such a bang-up job fighting terrorism! How can Mehlman even SAY these things with a straight face? It's astonishing!
#71 Mark,
Yes, guilty as charged. I don't WANT to wish anyone ill! But in the face of his massive, hideous, non-stop, crankin-out-wickedness machine somehow my little foray into wicked pales by comparison. In fact, maybe we should start sending LOTS of pretzels to our senators & congressmen, why not?! Heartfelt letters, phone calls & emails certainly seem to have no effect. Might as well try pretzels. Anyway, with all the HARD WORK they do for us, they deserve a snack.

Check this scam out,..
Republicans ask people to sign progressive petitions
(ie - medical marijuana),.. respondents to this scam
are likely Democratic voters.
The Republican petition gathers then switch the Demo voters registration to Republican without their consent
or knowledge.
This scam is currently happening in CALIFORNIA -
be aware.
Read the details of this scam occurring in California,.. it will likely happen on a national basis. The results of this ploy are to disenfranchise voters and also make it easier for the Republicans to game the tabulation of the final vote,.. making switched votes seem more plausible.
Link. Read the comments attached to the article for more local details. If you see this ploy
being perpetrated you should report it to the Secretary of State - Fraud Reporting Division.

I saw that article online earlier today. My wife looked over my shoulder and saw the Legalize Marijuana sign in the photo. She would have signed their petition in a second without realizing it was a scam.
It was amazing how hard the person in the article tried to get the reporter to let them switch the reporters registration. All a bunch of lies.

They hijacked the vote in Georgia,.. then Florida,..
then Ohio,.. The next trophy they want on their wall is California. If they game that state and get the bugs out in in the 2006 dry run,.. they will then fraudulently capture California's electoral college votes,.. 2008 will be a cakewalk. A Fascist Rethug
will again be in the White House.

Yes, I can agree that the people running the Republican Party machine are thoroughly vile, but just as we don't want the world holding our puppet regime against us, I bet a lot of Republicans don't want us holding their leadership against them. I think it's time for all Americans to overcome our differences of opinion and force these treasonous, and misprision of treason-ous fiends out of power. They are out of control, and if we do not, they WILL make us sorrier even than we are now.

BB2: There is something I can't pinpoint, why I don't like KOS. One thing is, it's too slick, like Huffington Post. Another, is they don't talk about vote fraud and specifically e-vote fraud. I trust my 6th sense, and there's something I don't like about those sites. And HuffPo reports too much infotainment, too, like CNN. Long story short, they don't talk about the things that I think are important.

Thanks for that. I'd about given up all hope on DKos after that one. But who knows, maybe it was just a bit too much at once. Most of my newer stuff is getting posted in the Loose Change forums, though I do still try to post to the blog on occassion...
