Forget injunctions. Forget calling the governor. Forget calling Barbara Boxer. Forget lawsuits.
You need to make FIVE PHONE CALLS next week. You need to persuade as many people as you know to make the same five calls.
This is your best shot to drag the right people to the questioning table, kicking and screaming if necessary. This isn't just about California, it will have a nationwide impact.
The California Senate Rules Committee can and probably will have get subpoenas issued on Diebold and the certifiers/testing labs --- BUT YOU HAVE TO PROVIDE THE POLITICAL COVER.
There are good people at Rules. Of their five members, the chair (Sen. Don Perata-D) has a good record in electronic voting issues and Sen. Cedillo-D also has a decent grasp of these issues. Sen. Bowen is the 3rd Democrat on Rules and we know where she stands. The two Republicans (Sen. Jim Battin (Vice-Chair) and Sen. Roy Ashburn) are approachable on this issue too. Only three of these Senators are needed to invoke port subpoenas (or letters containing promises of subpoenas upon failure to appear).
ALL WE NEED IS THREE OUT OF THE FIVE.
Ask for the right thing. Now is not the time to get creative --- you need to urge "subpoenas of election industry and certification insiders who didn't testify on the 16th. "
Contact list:
Senator Don Perata (Chair)
(916) 651-4009
Senator Jim Battin (Vice-Chair)
(916) 651-4037
Senator Roy Ashburn
(916) 651-4018
Senator Debra Bowen
(916) 651-4028 (Yes, call her too so she can log the support calls, it's important since it allows her to back her position from the grassroots.)
Senator Gilbert Cedillo
(916) 651-4022
Black Box Voting Inc. seldom puts out calls for grassroots pressure, as we feel this powerful tool can be diluted with over-use. But now is the time.
HOW TO DELIVER YOUR MESSAGE
Be quick, be polite, be professional. Here's your message: ask for "Rules Committee support for subpoenas of election industry and certification insiders who won't otherwise inform the Elections Committee as to what's going on".
This is about volume of calls logged.
Remember: What could take five years to achieve in court is available to American citizens within SIX WEEKS. Once subpoenas are issued and oaths are administered, perjury will follow.

Do you have to live in Ca. to call these people? Is it disregarded if you call them, and you're not a resident of Ca.?

My question is the same as Big Dan's #4. I'm in Florida.
If I don't see an answer here I'll try calling anyway.

btw...it's probably a good idea, if you have a lot of bookmarks, BradBlog & BlackboxVoting may be on 1 end of your bookmarks (if you have a lot), and VotersUnite/VoteTrustUSA/VelvetRevolution are all the way on the other end. When you click on Favorites, instead of quickly clicking on "VotersUnite" (for example), click-and-HOLD---and drag it near BradBlog/BlackBoxVoting. When you click-and-HOLD, a black guide-bar will appear as you're dragging it around to show you where it will be placed when you let go of your "left-click" bookmark that you're dragging around. Do the same with the other "Vote" Favorites, so they're all near each other. Sometimes I forget this is becoming a coordinated effort, and they should all be near each other in your bookmarks.
Or, make a separate folder titled "Voting" or "Our Democracy Is Ruined", and only put voting related Favorites in it.

…I don't know about the rest of the "progressive Democrat" world, but I for one am sick and tired of losing these "FIXED" elections to the Rethuglicans. I believe it is a given that wherever electronic voting machines (Diebold especially) are used that the votes are being manipulated to insure Rethuglican victories. It is furthermore clear that these machines ARE going to be used in many states despite their proven flaws - witness California's move to reinstate the machine before their proper testing was concluded. I have made a similar post on Bradblog with the hopes of inspiring affirmative action by the electorate to make SURE every vote is counted.
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO DEFEAT THIS TACTIC: ABSENTEE BALLOTS!
Think about it; speak about it with others. By voting by Absentee Ballot you guarantee that the election cannot be fixed as there will be a "hard paper" trail of ballots that are easily counted, recounted, and counted again to assure an honest accounting and a fair election.
Many State legislators, for whatever reasons, insist on using these machines, and, while I cannot and will not impugn the honesty of EVERY state voting regulatory authority, there are certainly ones from the past I would both question and impugn, i.e. Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004.
Bushco and his administration have shown that they are above the law, or at least believe they are, so WE THE PEOPLE need to take matters into our own hands and refuse to play their fixed game.
In EVERY STATE utilizing electronic voting machines, especially Diebold machines that were proven to have been defective and recording thousands of extra votes for Bush in 2004 (remember the precinct in Ohio with 642 voters that registered 20,000 votes for Bush?) REFUSE TO WASTE YOUR TIME AT THE POLLS AND VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO INSURE A GENUINE, TRUE VOTE COUNT THAT CAN BE EASILY VERIFIED.
I urge everyone who reads this (and I know there will be precious few), PLEASE URGE YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS TO VOTE IN THIS MANNER SO WE CAN TURN THOSE ROTTEN BASTARDS OUT OF CONGRESS FAIR AND SQUARE and not be beaten by phony machine counts.
I will be spending all of next week sending this same posting on every blog and comment section regarding voting I can find. I am not wealthy or I would ADVERTISE THIS SOLUTION ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.
Anyone here have juice with MoveOn.org or any other 527 groups or civic participation groups that can help get the word out? If the Rethuglicans are nervous now JUST THINK HOW SICK TO THEIR STOMACHS THEY WILL BE WHEN THEY CANNOT MANIPULATE THE VOTE BY MACHINE!
WE MUST SAVE AMERICA FROM THE CLUTCHES OF THE MOST PERNICIOUS POLITICAL PARTY OF MY LIFETIME AND I INTEND TO MAKE THIS A PERSONAL MISSION OF RESPONSIBILITY TO WORK FOR THEIR DEFEAT. I HOPE AND PRAY FOR THE HELP OF ALL HONEST CITIZENS WHO ARE TIRED OF SEEING EVERYTHING WE STAND FOR DESTROYED BY THESE THUGS.

I defer to Bev Harris and Jim March on the state of electronic voing machine usage, and anything related to that.
They are part and parcel of Velvet Revolution, as is Brad Blog, and therefore ...

This isn't a partisan issue. There has also been plenty of foul play by Democrats. Both major parties are obstructing the inspection of the voting machines. Both major parties are blocking legislation with teeth.
Absentee ballots are not the answer. Absentee ballots are counted by optical scanners, which are easily hackable. If the optical scanner is a Diebold device it doesn't even have the basic audit tape. It is simple to throw a whole election by using absentee ballots.
I agree that we should all use paper ballots. These should be hand counted. Strict documentation of the chain of custody of ballots (from printer onwards) is required.
Absentee ballots make certain aspects of election transparency more difficult to achieve, such as how to keep them safe until they are counted, without any interference.

Thanks for reminding everyone what this really is about, the corrupt and corruptable. All of the corrupt leaders on both sides want the machines to cheat.
So yes, we must get rid of them all especially so republicans or DLC don't steal national elections. That's the bottom line, go to court until these neoconned voting machines are outta there...

The republicans own and operate the voting machine companies, such as Diebold.
Support proof that democrats, greens, or independents own voting machine companies or stop spreading falsehoods.

about asbestos cancer and prostate cancer, asbestos Cancer also called malignant prostate Cancer
mesothelioma is a disease in which
prostate Cancer (malignant) cells are found in the sac lining the chest (the pleura) or abdomen (the peritoneum). It is a rare form of cancer. Most people with malignant
mesothelioma have worked on jobs where they breathed asbestos.

Crime is not a partisan issue, politics is. Your failure to distinguish the difference is obfuscation.
The republicans are in the majority of criminal indictments and guilty pleas. There are zero democrats, independents, greens, etc. who are indicted and/or facing prison.
This covers deliberate election tampering by the RNC, and convictions, ownership of Diebold and other major voting machine companies, lying to federal investigators, being Enronic, Iranic, Iraqsick, and Katrina weak.
Show me any democratic indictments or guilty pleas of any democrats, independents, or greens please.
Accountability will never happen with ill advised salves posing as fairness. It is not fair to punish or blame the rape victim, blame the voter for the republican Diebold voting machine thefts and negligence, blame the minority party for the crimes of the majority.
It is just plain wrong, simple wrong, and a part of dishonest denial thinking.
Get over it, the republicans are to blame for these majority wrongs because they are the majority and that means much more than you seem to see (link here).

You said "Forget injunctions. Forget calling the governor. Forget calling Barbara Boxer. Forget lawsuits."
NO!
I will use injunctions, governors, Boxer, and lawsuits when and where they are needed. Use whatever works and leave no tool out of the toolbox.
You have used lawsuits and injunctions in California, and you won. You sued Diebold and won and got an injunction.
Just because some Bozos after that ignored the injunction or even disobeyed it, does not mean we should give up the judicial branch of government in our fight.
I will sue the bastards where it will help, and this year is going to break my record for lawsuits against election officials.
We have a constitutional right to vote for congress members ... but no constitutional right to vote for president.
This election involves the majority in the House of Representatives, congress, and I am going to file lawsuits against state election officials who screw with it in any way.
Watch and see.

Dredd: This shows how misinformed you are. There are several democrats facing indictment such as William Jefferson (Louisiana.) Further it was a democrat Cathy Cox who owns a controlling share in Diebold. It was also Democrat Linda Lamone who made a huge deal out of putting "paper trails" on anything in maryland.
In addition, it was also democrats with stakes in Sequoia who prevented certain cities in New Mexico from getting a "paper trail" and who actually nation wide have fought against it. Such as Senator Chris Dodd. They also have major stakes in disabilities group.
If you don't understand the issue fully, then don't talk about it. That is all I'm going to say, because I've been studying this for a while.

I am informed enough to be happy to take the integrity of the democrats over the republicans.
You list all the democrats in the Bush white house and congress who are under indictment (not just allegations) and I will list all the republicans who are.
Then we can see where we stand on being more or less informed.
The one that has the majority of indictments should not have the majority of white house or congressional membership. Accountability and integrity are more important than political party.
So, what is your total?
You also seem to allege that democrats own a voting company? Let me know about that too.
I think republicans own the most of the fraudy voting machine companies ... do you?

The Registrar of Voters in Alameda County, California, reported yesterday that Diebold has already fixed all 16 flaws found in their memory card software. The Security Report, commissioned by the California Secretary of State McPherson, which found the flaws, reported their results just about 3 weeks ago, on February 14th, so this was pretty fast action.
Diebold has submitted their changes to ITA for testing and when finished, the results will be submitted to the California Secretary of State for recertification, according to the Registrar of Voters.
Diebold has been more carefully monitored and tested than any other voting machine vendor, at least in California, and seems to have successfully passed the tests.
Maybe their equipment can really work.

Robert,
If the changes are submitted to the ITA, then they
are not certified. If the registrar installed them, she has violated the law. More importantly,
the patches solve minor problems, but not the major problem of having a program on an easily removable device.
