The news today is full of news from Maryland in regards to the letter from Gov. Ehrlich to the State Elections Board. Is this another nail in Diebold’s coffin? The fact that they have raised their maintenance charges 1000% over four years is astonishing. Also, counties in Pennsylvania are still trying to decide what they can do in the aftermath of the court decision of earlier in the week. And, the DoJ has given their opinion to Connecticut and they have promised to work with them to meet HAVA mandates….

I have a question: I have read several different sources that comment on the use of touch screen technology in the NE senatorial race txixt Hagel and Nelson. The claim is that Hagel has a significant stake in the company that provided the machines and that the results of the election in Hagel’s favor were unexpected. Yet as a NE resident I have never seen such a machine in use in Washington county. I have also checked sources in Douglas County who also claim such machines are not used.

Douglas county is the most populus by far of the various NE counties. If they and Washington County do notuse such machines then it seems to be doubtful that such machines affected the race as claimed. Any confirmation either way???

"That was also the year when a Republican political newcomer, a self-described "nobody," ousted a veteran Democratic state senator in what The Baltimore Sun described as "one of the most remarkable election upsets in recent Maryland political history."

"That was when Ehrlich became the first Republican governor to be elected in 36 years in what had always been known as a solidly Democratic state. "

(I’m going to get Dredd going…)

So, Dredd, why should we be backing the Democrats, who remain silent about vote fraud on electronic voting machines??? When it is them, who are getting hurt the most? Don’t they care about us? 100% of the swings on electronic machines favored the Republican party, which statistics professors claimed is 250-million-to-1 odds, and therefore not random acts at all!!!

And what’s with the MSM blackout about vote fraud on electronic vote machines? How come no one talks about that? Not important, I guess…

The Dems should be SCREAMING about this! Why aren’t they? Anyone know? I don’t!!!

      Why Wasn’t This On TV???

"PLEASE don’t play this up that a Republican Governor comes out against Diebold and DRE’s in his own election year . where he lies and convinces peopel to vote for him because he cares about election integrity."

No one trusts the Governor of MD at all, JPENTZ. And I do mean nobody. Or his democrat board handlers. The reason its good news, is we can now force the machines out of there and take this to court.

That’s what I have been saying all along…we can challenge the statutes straight through court, and rip the Diebold machines out of the walls. Posturing or not, the democrats and republicans have set the stage for the downfall of the machines. Its up to us to take them the rest of the way, delay HAVA, and either institute valid paper ballots or dispel them and use vote pad or scanners/audits.

Steve #1, Big Dan #2, and Doug #3

Steve brings up an allegation that Hagel was elected via fraudulent use of voting machines and asks for some sort of confirmation while expressing some doubt based on his closer examination into the facts of the issue.

Doug offers an explanation by pointing to the Black Box voting website, which says nothing of the issue on its front page. That dog won’t hunt.

Big Dan asks me "why should we be backing the Democrats" if they allowed this to be committed and did nothing about it or not enough about it.

This is the classic syndrome: A republican robs a bank and a democrat is blamed for not stopping it or yelling out loud after it allegedly happened.

I would not even respond to such tripe if it were from trolls.

Since it happens to be from long time regulars here, I respond with respect.

The republican party, to whom the criminal belongs, has the first and foremost responsibility to police their own party.

Party loyalty can not, by law, be above the law.

Any republican who knows of a crime of this sort and does nothing about it is an accomplice or an accessory before and/or after the fact.

The other party, democrats, do not have the first priority, and are less likely to discover it before hand and prevent it. And after it is discovered they have no power to undo it. They have only a secondary obligation in the first and the second instance.

Politically, the republican party in power is the only one that can do realistic investigations because they have subpoena power, committee investigative power, meeting room power, and scheduling power to investigate.

For instance, only the republicans can investigate the NSA spy crimes, and they choose not to. Is that the fault of democrats? Only if you are unjust would you entertain such hogwash.

These principles apply equally as well to any party that is in power. They have the power and so they have the responsibility. If the democrats were in power and were doing what the republicans have been doing they should be voted out without question.

Its the Stockholm Syndrome in my opinion. There, I answered the hypothetical.

Now that I have answered, answer my question: how can the minority party, the democrats, under the current structure of the congress call, schedule, and chair hearings which subpoena the data and witnesses necessary to investigate the matter?

A little quote from Feeney to start your day about China’s Google
"A person who gets a censored version of Google is more free than he was before" he had any Google access, says Rep. Tom Feeney (R) of Florida.

I like this quote from Rohrabacher
"Claiming that [Internet firms’] dealings with China will make China a more liberal society and more democratic is just playing games" with public perception, says Dana Rohrabacher (R) of California, who supports restrictions for US firms operating in China. "It’s clear by now that corporate America is only interested in a buck, in making a fast buck. And if it means assisting Nazis and communists, they’ll do it."

I all most fell over reading that one
an honest Republican? I doubt it

The republicans, by a vote of two (the prez and The Dick), decided to pull out of the Kyoto Accord which concerns global warming.

When a scientist at NASA, headed by republican appointees, is ordered not to talk about global warming, he talks anyway (link here).

Should he be blamed for leaking the information or should the republicans who have all the NASA power be blamed for ignoring the catastrophe that is headed our way?

We got a Katrina and the republicans reacted with typical "catastrophic success", but we are going to get a KATRINA if global warming keeps cooking the womb of hurricanes (south atlantic).

So is it the democrats fault for not stopping the prez and The Dick from pulling out of the Kyoto accord and therefore we should support the republicans …

      … or …SUPPORTCLINT CURTIS!!!

Totally unrelated but thought it was interesting. This was a quick poll on Rollingstone.com

Who’s to blame for the Katrina response?

      FEMA 15%

      Homeland Security 4%

      President Bush 72%

      Mother Nature 9%

Remember when Kerry was quoted as saying he won in ’04….Chris Dodd got mad when he tried to talk about election fraud. Then Kerry backtracked. There should have been outrage by the dems. in 2000. Stop the vote counting. That’s not democracy. Now you’ve got your little cottage industries like Kos who was paid by Diebold to stop discussion and they promote people like this guy in N.C. running for the House on Dem. ticket. BUT he is anti gay and pro life. It is a criminal cabal running this country and a lot of Dems. are complicit. We have to be honest among ourselves.
