Okay, Brad, you post cartoons, so....
If you need a laugh, check out the Gergen thread, here. It has, for example, the poetic saga (first reports only) of the beginning of the end (or the middle of the end, or the end of the end... whatever...

Who kept a dead whore in a stove
If trouble was brewing, and a foe needed screwing
He'd cook up a meeting, by Jove
Karl's whore came to life in the oven
Where she'd given Karl's critics good lovin'
A sexy loose cannon, by the name of Jeff Gannon
A warlock was loose in the coven
His name wasn't Jeff, it was James
And Rove used him for partisan games
A very high ratio, included fellatio
All except Valerie Plame's

Just in case anyone wants to read what the MSCM has to say about Fitz, and Miller into the bargain, check out
The Prosecutor: The Mystery Man
----- snip
A particularly annoying offender, coincidentally, was Judith Miller, the New York Times reporter. Fitzgerald sent her to jail earlier this month for failing to comply with a court order to testify before the grand jury about conversations she had with sources on a matter about which she never wrote a story. In an earlier, unrelated clash, Fitzgerald had accused Miller of compromising a probe into Islamic charities by phoning one of the groups just before a government crackdown.

Different subject, but let's not forget the most important story of all; the hijacking of democracy thru election fraud.
Have all y'all seen the HARPERS magazine cover story titled "None Dare Call it Stolen?"
Again, I urge you to buy a copy and buy a few more for your friends and neighbors, and your Republican brother; so someone will see that it SELLS MAGAZINES! That's the one thing that will get the MSM's attention. MONEY! If they think the story will sell big, some of them may just print more stories about it. And no, I don't own any stock in Harpers...
Take action y'all, and buy a rag and make somebody read it. I've already thrown this thread out to several comment threads, so forgive me if I repeat myself...
peace,

John G. Roberts: An Iran-Contra Connection?
Filed under: * Crime * Republicans * National
Yesterday, the National Archives released 14,000 pages of documents regarding Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts, Jr’s service in the Reagan Administration’s Justice Department during the early 1980s. However, thousands more pages of documents apparently remain unreleased, including the period, from from 1982 to 1986, in which he worked as Associate Counsel to the President under White House counsel Fred Fielding. For whatever reason, the Bush White House does not appear particularly eager to supply information from that period. **more** **Oooo ... so juicy!**

Arianna Huffington has a brilliant editorial on her post this morning.
She's seldom if ever wrong on her facts. It seems Judith Miller didn't reveal her sources in the Plamegate scandal because SHE HERSELF WAS THE SOURCE. Pissed off that her reporting of WMD in Iraq had been proven inept (and had led to thousands of innocent deaths) she retaliated by revealing Valerie Plame's identity, knowing it would wound her husband Joe Wilson's reputation.
Nice lady. And a martyr to the cause of press freedom, according to The New York Times.
Interesting that Karl Rove might have told the truth for once when he said he'd first learned about Wilson's wife from a reporter. That still begs two questions, "What was Judith Miller doing passing along classified information to a political hack?" and "How did Judge Judy obtain the information in the first place?"

I felt last week that there HAD to be a connection between London and the renewal of the Patriot Act. Brad's old friend Feeney was on NPR saying, "If England had the Patriot Act, those 50 dead Britons would be alive today." The next day the Patriot Act passed the House. Who was it who said there's really no coincidences in politics ? Let me also second Shannon's comment about the article in Harper's - very thorough and well done. the author, Mark Crispin Miller, is great. I've seen his "A Patriot Act" on DVD, quite good. Very good analysis of the Bush regime. He also has a cameo in "Horns and Halos", which I thought was OUTSTANDING.

Here's the judges comments regarding the Patriot Act in the sentencing of Ahmed Ressam for planning to bomb the LA airport in 2001.
``We did not need to use a secret military tribunal, detain the defendant indefinitely as an enemy combatant or deny the defendant the right to counsel,'' he said Wednesday. ``The message to the world from today's sentencing is that our courts have not abandoned our commitment to the ideals that set our nation apart.''
He added that the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks have made Americans realize they are vulnerable to terrorism and that some believe ``this threat renders our Constitution obsolete ... If that view is allowed to prevail, the terrorists will have won.''

Thanks, Robert, for mentioning the Huffingtonpost piece, a good one indeed. In it she refers to the Novak article, about which I have a question:
Novak writes..
"Wilson's report....was regarded by the CIA as less than definitive...."
I'm not sure how important it is, but why does he come to that conclusion? Based on what?
Meanwhile back in the hallowed halls of Congress...
The House passed CAFTA last night by TWO votes, 217-215. Another victory for corporate greed, another blow to human rights. From today's WaPo:
"...Only 15 of the 202 House Democrats backed the accord, while 27 out of 232 Republicans voted against..."
How does one find out who the 15 Dems are who voted for & who the 27 R's are who voted against? (I ask with apologies for my ignorance)

don't cha think that Jim March of Black Box Voting knew very well that he would most likely be arrested if he went in there? You know he did. I did and I know next to nothing about election fraud compared to those guys.
Now, if you're saying that he did know what he was doing and did it anyway to bring attention to the problems, then maybe he does deserve our help. But if you're saying we should pay his fees for knowing that he was gonna get busted.....
well....I guess he should have thought that out better.
then again, will they pay my fees if I get busted for a little purposeful civil disobediance that I find myself engaged in? (no details)
also, hasn't BBV been questioned about what they have done with the donations they have received in the past?
so, thats my views on that and please do educate me if you can. Not really trying to slam anybody, it's just that there are sooooo many causes and people and blogs and organizations that need our money that I have to consider who gets mine and this one just doesn't pass my first test with so much competition.

They think that one of the bombers pictured has been superimposed into the pic coz the bar seems to go in fron of his arm. My opinion is that it looks to me like the guy is sitting on the bar and not even part of the group. What I am more concerned about though is bomber number 4. First off he looks like a woman to me. Second he is suppose to be 6ft tall. I know he is a little further back than the other guys but he looks more like a 5'6" or so to me. I can't seem to copy the pic to take it and lighten it so I can see better. Here's the link. What do u guys think?

Yes, it's a damned tiresome thing this bogus election deal. I mean it just exhausts me to think about. I have written letters and answered polls and I did go to DC for the Boxer rebellion and I have given small monies to Cobb and a couple of other election truth people, but I haven't done much recently. Has anyone looked into this claim about unemployment only being 5%? I think this warrants an investigation. If I remember correctly, When Bush came into office he stopped any extentions people would have normally been able to collect. Thus if he continues for 4 or more years, of course he can claim that, because when you run out of the initial claim you do not stay on the rolls any longer and are no longer counted. Thus the 5% claim.
Anyone want to fill me in on this? Like to hear from you.

Not sure quite how I found this, from the Hoover Institute at Stanford University. Question: Are they related to PNAC?
snips:
Pulitzer Prize–winning author and veteran columnist Bill Safire offered comments about Washington when he spoke to overseers.
Safire said he takes the long and experienced view of politics, particularly when addressing issues such as the controversy over voting in Florida, presidential pardons, and the number of press conferences a new president may have conducted.
"We act as though there’s never going to be another election," he said, laughing.
An insider’s view of the White House was provided at dinner that night when Karl Rove, senior adviser to President Bush, spoke. In a humorous talk, Rove said he’d learned about the importance of security credentials, abbreviations used to identify the president, the first lady, and other White House officials, and the intricacies of the White House food service.

Actually, tonight I'm tired and can't put my thoughts together very well ... life goes on and the country gets sicker. We gotta get that slimeball out of the White House.
As for Jim March - I had lots of disagreements with him on many issues, mostly regarding his NRA allegience and his tendency to be trollish. I haven't studied the whole arrest thing yet, to be honest. I need to do that --- but I will support anybody who is attacked by the neoCons and anybody who takes a stand against them. We'll never find anybody we agree with on everything 100%, we just have to stick together on the big issues and work for enlightenment and change that is beneficial to the most people.

The Election Song
(Parody of The Galaxy Song)
When politics gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
and things seem hard or tough,
and people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
and you feel that you've had quite enough.....
Just remember that you voted in a booth in Palm Beach county,
that's a million-person county in our state.
It's growing at 23,000 folks a year, or so I hear,
enough to make a difference had we picked November 8.
Palm Beach and you and me, and all the folks that we can see
live in a 67 county state,
that's Florida, a state that's one of 50 total states
in the nation that we call the USA.
Our President's elected from 100 million votes,
that's 50 million voters side by side;
But states elect electors first, five hundred and thirty eight,
who then elect the President as though we hadn't tried.
A state elects electors based on who has won the state,
and Florida gets only 25.
But 25's enough to throw the balance either way,
when Harris certifies our votes at five.
Our state elects electors from about 6 million votes,
3 million votes for Bush, 3 more for Gore.
With all 6 million votes divided equally in two,
I hope you like the guy you voted for.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly important is your vote,
and pray that someone tried to count your pregnant dimpled chad,
'cause there's no one who can count it here in court!

It's ludicrous to do this to a kid. Notice we all, now, have to add the disclaimer "metophorically" when we say things we used to hear & say knowing no one would be attempting to charge us of making real threats.
