It's funny that Chuck Hagel, former CEO of ES&S who got elected with his own voting machines, would be the only Republican Senator currently making noise about Iraq.
Is he jumping a sinking ship to save himself? I don't know. Regardless, It's good to hear someone in Republican party speak with a little sanity.
P.S. Nice interview with Joan and Warren, Brad. The reason Tom DeLay killed the Voter Confidence Act is because it had enough support from Republicans to pass.

A comment like this from Hagel indicates that the house of cards may be starting to fall. Hagel seems to be someone who keeps alert for whatever will be the "winning" side and tries to move there fast. (E.g., one of the first to hop on the electronic voting machine bandwagon.)
Other than this it is hard to imagine why he would be taking the lead.
Is he starting to sense the groundswell of public opinion on this issue?
When is he up for reelection?

Time magazine said they chose Bush as "Person of the Year" for, and I quote:
"...for reframing reality to match his design..."
Hmm. Curious, ain't it? Sounds strikingly similar to, and I quote the Downing Street Memo:
"...the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy..."
Could Bush be impeached for the same reasons Time magazine decided he should be marked as Person of the Year?

If anyone's interested - C-Span, "Road to the Whitehouse", starting now, will have General Clark's recent keynote address to New Hampshire democratic activists at the Manchester Flag Day Dinner.
It's starting now (6:30 eastern time) - General Clark will be on after Rep. Tom Tancredo (R), maybe 6:45 or so.

A sad irony is that I just happened across this comment http://www.alternet.org/...;cID=10069&sID=22181 on a thread commenting on Ron Kovic's new Introduction to a reissue of his book Born on the Fourth of July.
The comment briefly remarks on Howard Dean's back-pedaling on his stance re: the Iraq war. ("Even Howard Dean, in his role as DNC chair, has reversed his celebrated anti-war stance in favor of a sickening capitulation to the right-wing mantra that we have no choice but to remain there and slog it out, no matter the cost in dollars or lives...shades of Nam, as the body bags just keep filling up.")
How sad and ironic, if Howard Dean now says we have to stay in Iraq, and Chuck Hagel of all people is taking the lead in admitting that we are losing the war.
Hearing this about Dean for the second time in a week is discouraging. I want to believe that it isn't true.

OT - 9/11
On the same thread about Ron Kovic's book I came across a comment about 9/11 and seismic "spikes".
See here.
"Another interesting side-story that I've only seen mentioned in the American Free Press, and corroborated no where else has to do with seismic data collected by Columbia University the morning of 9/11. According to the AFP, seismograph evidence clearly indicates sharp, anomalous spikes of 2.3 and 2.1 on the Richter long after each building was hit by aircraft and immediately prior to the collapse of each structure. I saved the article. Anybody got something to add to this one?"
I don't think I've heard anyone else mention this before--is it a rumour or is it true?

Yes, it is true there were seismic spikes. The only question is how you interpret them. The main problem is that the timeline of the spikes and the timeline of the collapse can't be matched up precisely. For more on 911 got to www.911truth.org . The latest newsworthy item is the article by Morgan Reynolds, a former member of the Bush Administration.
On a general note, I just watched a tape of the DSM "hearing." What a lot of intelligent, knowledgable, and caring people. After listening to all the testimony, there can be no doubt that if there is an honest investigation into this that Bush and his group will be impeached if not put in jail.

Chuck Hagel, of all people , is turning out to be a half decent congressman. He has spoken the truth on many issues, unlike the "republobotomized" members of the party. Remember that Hagel "won" his congressional race in a highly questionable upset victory on electronic voting machines, which makes him highly suspect as a legitimate member of congress, but he seems to have a better grip on reality than most Reublicans.

Each new utterance of disapproval from a person like Hagel gets rave reivews at Bradblog. Each new report of American deaths brings screams of "I told you so" from the progressives.
Now Bradblog is asking for donations. Brad, I have decided to DOUBLE MY OFFER. Since 99% of your followers believe that the Bush tax cuts were unfair as they disproportionately "rewarded" the rich, (who pay taxes), here is your chance to get $2000, with another $2000 to the first person who can demonstrate that America's poor people pay income taxes.
Once we determine that poor DO NOT pay income taxes, then we can quit carping about how it isn't fair that they didn't get a tax cut! You can't cut zero percent, can you?
$4000 total. I am prepared to write two checks - for $2000 each. Any takers?
It will take a lot of $20 donations to make up for your missed opportunity here.

On 16 October 2002, President Bush told the American people that "I have not ordered the use of force. I hope that the use of force will not become necessary."
We know now that this statement was itself a lie, that the president, by late August 2002, had, in fact, signed off on the 'execute' orders authorising the US military to begin active military operations inside Iraq, and that these orders were being implemented as early as September 2002, when the US Air Force, assisted by the British Royal Air Force, began expanding its bombardment of targets inside and outside the so-called no-fly zone in Iraq.

Hey, Brickhead..Buckshot..whatever your name is.
Here are the rules of capitalism.
Middle class people (upper and lower) are the backbones of a strong economy. The more money we have, the more likely we'll spend. The very very rich people are bound by law to reinvest their money into some kind capital venture, or they will get penalized for it. This creates a balanced economy. If the very very rich are hiding their money in off shore tax shelters, the economy
suffers. The rich are already getting a free ride from the rules of capitalism, unnecessary tax cuts for the very rich compounds the problem.
Poor people aren't hiding any of their money in tax shelters. They contribute their meager earnings to the
economy just the same.
Now take your schizophrenic racist unejumicated rants elsewhere. Many others here have already "aksed" you to. You're tax discussions have been off topic for the last several posts. Get over it.

Hi all,
I just made a post at LoadedMouth That comment by Hagel reminded me of it.
Nearly 16 years ago, a group of four military officers and a civilian predicted the rise of terrorism and anti-American insurgencies with chilling accuracy.
The group said U.S. military technology was so advanced that foreign forces would be unlikely to challenge it directly, and it forecast that future foes would be non-state insurgents and terrorists whose weapons would be suicide car bombs, not precision-guided weapons.
"Today, the United States is spending $500 million apiece for stealth bombers," the group wrote in a 1989 article that appeared in a professional military journal. "A terrorist stealth bomber is a car with a bomb in the trunk - a car that looks like every other car."
The rest is here:
Prescient insurgency experts want tactical changes
And this is one of the authors predictions today:
"There's nothing that you can do in Iraq today that will work," said Lind, one of the original Fourth Generation Warfare authors. "That situation is irretrievably lost."
I think of it as a self-fulfilling prophesy. The Repugs then were just as stupid as the repugs now. And the Dem's are not far behind.
I recently saw a fascinating program here called Lateline (kinda like 60 Minutes). Check out the transcript. Every American should read this VERY carefully:
Ex-army leader recalls pre-war speech
The last question reply sums it up:
TIM COLLINS: Having served in Iraq and having seen Iraq shortly after the invasion happened, it was clear to me and even when I asked, "What is the plan for rebuilding Iraq? "How should we set about setting these people back on their feet?" The answer is, "There is no plan. Make it up as you go along." We made it up as best we could. I think it behoved the Western alliance to have had some form of plan to re-establish Iraq, put it back on its feet, after we'd taken away Saddam's regime and one must be left with the conclusion either there was no plan because of incompetence or there is no plan because of malice. I don't know which one it is and I think history will judge harshly looking at the state of Iraq now. As I also said to the BBC, if you create a vacuum, you've got to live with what goes into that vacuum and nature abhors politics and we're living with the result of the vacuum we created in Iraq and that is costing young Iraqis blood. It is also taking British soldiers, American soldiers and Australian soldiers' lives as well.

Well, I was definitely on the "it would never happen" side of the fence. But have listened to a lot of witness testimony, especially in that one film short on one of those links by the firemen that were going in and out of the buildings talking about a rapid series of explosions going off. It begins to make a lot more sense and fits in very well with this whole puzzle.
I don't think anyone wants to believe it, but the explanations are much more feasible and real than the official story in the books I have. I believe Ray McGovern also spoke something about this on Brad's show. Also there is another former Bush staffer, Morgan Reynolds, Clinton carry over, Chief Economist on Bush's first term, is now saying that there is a bigger picture on 911.
Article from UPI and the Washington Times:
Morgan Reynold's from the Washington Times
This story just broke this week and caused and uproar.
I dunno if Brad is truly sitting on the fence on this one. I don't blame him if he is. However, I personally am going from our government being complacent to actively taking part in the "New Pearl Harbor". as stated in the PNAC
Pieces of the puzzle, at least for me, are starting to fit together. One has to wonder, how long it takes to properly outfit a building with explosives to pull it in a uniform manner as was seen and admitted to on WTC.
Also one has to wonder at the speed at which the news reported "19' islamist hijackers and had their names and all their movements within a day and was reporting it as fact.
Just my thoughts and since this is an open thread, I thought I would get others thoughts on this.
IF the PNAC, Bush/Cheney, did this, they have murdered thousands, by blowing up the buildings and sending our people to die in a false war. It fits with Downing Street. Why did Bush/Cheney vet ever document and refuse to testify publicly and on the record? Why does the 9/11 report read like a novel?
Moreover, if people think the official story was true. Why do people think so? I brought this up because I feel like talking about it.

Now that the U.S. is clearly stepping up the offensive in Iraq, Hagel's observation that the White House detachment from reality is all about the fact that we are losing Iraq while the White House says we are winning, really goes hand in hand. If you read it properly, Hagel is simply supporting more fighting.
The REALITY is that we shouldn't be in Iraq.

Winter Patriot,
Your sarcastic comment about "escrow" does nothing to provide evidence that lower income Americans pay federal income taxes.
Just another diversion.
A poll showed that about 40 percent of Americans believe that poor Americans pay more income taxes than rich Americans. On this blog it appears to be 99%.
The fact is, poor Americans don't pay ANY federal income tax. Many millions of poor don't even pay FICA, as the earned income tax credit was designed to counter the payroll tax.
The vast majority of the tax burden in this country is carried by the rich and the upper middle class. A smaller portion is carried by the middle class.
NONE of the income tax burden is carried by the poor. They aren't even paying their OWN way, let alone paying income taxes.
Two more days to capitalize on my generous offer.

JPentz, and Colleen, there is a TON of information on the web for you to read regarding 9/11. I urge everyone who has doubts about the "official story" to go to: www.tvnewslies.org/html/9_11_facts.html also www.prisonplanet.com and www.amics21.com/911links.html and www.tomflocco.com and www.Karlschwarz.com/articles.html as well as; www.amics21.com/911/pentagon.html#Main there are many, many more sites than this. I first got suspicious ,thanx to a link at Bradblog, about the pentagon, that was clearly not an airliner that hit it, so that got me to wonderin' "why would they falsify the pentagon hit, and the towers story be true?? So, I did some more reading, and reading and reading, and couldn't help but come to the horrifying realisation that 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB!! David Ray Griffin's book is also a compelling read. There have been reports that on the weekend before 9/11, some elevators were shut down in the towers, power out, (including security cameras) and men in uniforms with boxes, going in and out of the buildings all weekend. The time it took the towers to fall, if the "pancake theory" was correct, there would have been resistance from the lower floors, 3/4ths of the towers were not damaged, how come they fell at "free fall speed"?? How come they turned to dust?? The heat from the fires was not hot enough to melt steel, and even if it was, all the steel columns would have had to have melted at the same rate for the towers to fall so uniformly!! What about the seismic spikes that occured just before the towers fell?? The reports by civilians and firefighters of explosions in the buildings?? All this and a lot more adds up to the "official story" being highly SUSPICIOUS!!!

The tax issue is a red herring, since up Buckshot's sleave is his own definition of what "poor" constitutes. People who make so little they don't pay taxes.
Real numbers on taxes and impacts from Congress:
What percentage of taxes are paid by the wealthiest 5% of Americans?
The wealthiest 5 percent have 59% of the wealth and pay 38.4 percent of federal taxes. The wealthiest 1 percent have over 38 percent of the wealth and pay 24.8 percent of federal taxes. These households have an average wealth of $10.2 million and pay only 3.5 percent of their wealth in taxes. By way of comparison, the bottom 40 percent of taxpayers have an average net wealth of $1,100 and pay 163 percent of their net wealth in taxes.
If all taxpayers paid the same 10.5 percent of their wealth in taxes as median income families pay, the taxes of the lowest 40 percent would be cut by 94 percent while the taxes of the wealthiest would triple.
Source: Congressional Budget Office and United for a Fair Economy
Nonetheless, the real issue here is: What are these taxes supporting? Illegal war. Fake election reform. Torture.

Also there is a video of Dan Rather saying how all three towers falling the same way "It almost looks like controlled demolition" ALMOST??!!! It looks like that because it WAS a CONTROLLED DEMOLITION!! I hope and pray that 9/11 doesn't go the way of JFK and decades later people are still debating. I agree, Justice must be served and the truth has to come out, hopefully sooner rather than later!! Have u heard or read about the $120 BILLION dollars of fraudulent gold bonds that were to come DUE on the 11th or 12th of September 2001?? Had these bonds been paid, it would have exposed the "FRAUDEES" (for lack of a better word) How convenient, they don't have to pay it back, and it hides their fraud!! For Big Dan: Hagel's first election was a stunner. He was trailing in the polls by two percentage points the day before the election, to a popular opponent. Then he won in a "big upset," similar to Max Cleland's "upset" loss to Saxby Chambliss in 2002.
And, of course, like W.'s two counter-intuitive victories, achieved against candidates who got more votes than he did but had the extreme misfortune of not having them all counted...as with Andrew Jackson in 1824, Samuel J. Tilden in 1876, Grover Cleveland in 1888, and Richard M. Nixon in 1960 (Nixon would still have lost in the Electoral College, even if Daley hadn't stolen Illinois for Kennedy).
Election fraud has gone hi-tech, and Hagel will go down in history as the pioneer of the modern age.

Mr. Blue Sky,
Thank you for your reply. Please remain anonymous, but tell me the following.
1) What was your gross income?
2) What was your adjusted gross income?
3) What was the total of your exemptions? (a dollar amount)
4) What was the dollar amount of your tax credits, if any?
5) What was your taxable income?
6) And finally, what was your tax liability?
If you cannot give an approximate dollar amount for those simple questions, perhaps you understand the subject.
Please do not mix FICA or other taxes in this discussion. I'm not disputing that you pay FICA, or even that a lot of poor people pay FICA.
Since you are new, let me explain. This discussion was born out of repeated comments from bloggers on this site who complained that Bush's tax cuts went disproportionately to the rich, while the poor didn't get any tax cuts. My response was (listen closely) THE POOR DO NOT PAY INCOME TAXES.
That's why they didn't get a tax cut. The bush tax cut was an INCOME TAX CUT.
You can't cut zero percent. Since the poor didn't owe (or pay) any federal income taxes in the first place, they did not benefit from any cuts in the rate of federal income taxes.
Now if you want to answer the questions above (use dollar amounts, please) I will address your particulars.
First we must determine if you are poor. Then we must determine if you paid any FEDERAL INCOME TAX.
Peter,
Your first sentence says it all. You admit you know NOTHING about the subject. No more need be said.
WP,
You are an adult. You are not under any obligation to read anything I post. The author of the post is identified at the top. When you see "Buckshot", just scroll past. Perhaps you cannot control yourself, in which case, I cannot help you.
VDRES,
You say my issue is a red herring, then you dive right in and expand it by adding your spin. Let me address some of your spin... You say that the wealthiest Americans own 59% of the wealth and pay 38% of the federal taxes. So?
You are talking about their wealth, not their income. You would learn something if you looked at their income, and then saw the percentage of the nation's INCOME TAX they paid.
The rest of your example is a similar dodge. You say poor people who only have a net wealth (a net wealth??) of $1100 yet they pay 163% of that in taxes? What is that supposed to mean?
Give an example, please. I will address your example in an honest and polite manner. Be specific.
You can't just randomly copy & paste figures and prove a point. You don't even seem to understand what you're talking about. Sorry.

Hello all --- I took a couple of days off for a family gathering and come back to see BS denying the fact that he lost the bet to Unirealist.
He swaggers onto forums across the Internet wearing a personal armor of conceit and flashing his badge of phony benevolence. He carrys a sawed off shotgun filled with spitballs rather than buckshot.
The one called buckshot grew up in a mining camp in Montana but now lives in Alaska and in my opinion has no friends. He certainly doesn't have any on the forums he rudely disrupts. Looking for a new forum that hasn't banned him is his entire life.
I don't know if he is trying to help uninformed and/or poor people commit illegalities or not, but in some of his posts at the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula Online Bulletin Board, he seems to be telling people they do not need to pay PDA tax without ever giving them the actual facts or providing links. Do they or don't they? I don't know, because I haven't studied Alaska tax laws. Whatever the answer, he seems to be like a dispicable hacker who spams people's inboxes with hoaxes designed to either injure or cause fear.
Here's the post I referred to above:
Remember, I will pay $100 to anyone who can show me in the IRS code or in Alaska law where children are required to pay inocme taxes on the PFD.
By the way, the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula Online Bulletin Board has been permanently closed due to extensive abuse.
Here's a REALLY good one from What's Left .com (ps don't let the kids read this one.)
Another at What's Left .com:
Cheryl pulls BS's shorts up around his ears (About the 20th post on the page.)
Back at Kenai, BS shows his true non-benevolant nature
Finally on Here's What's Left - the BAN
So, we know BS does not really want communication. He wants to feel powerful --- he likes to try to bully the naive and uninformed and pretend he's more intelligent than they. The funny thing is that even the most naive were able to see through his bullshit almost immediately.

Remember what we did to Sinclair Broadcasting before the election when they wanted to run the Swift Boat Liars Special? VG #87 - that's a hard one - there really is an unwillingness of some people to accept that there are huge holes in the 9/11 story as reported by the 9/11 Commission and evil twig's regime. There are some "science" types at CCN who absolutely refuse to accept a lot of the theories that are being put forth regarding for instance the way the buildings collapsed (especially #7).
Maybe one way to get people to start accepting that what we've been told is not true is to start with small things "they've" told us that are absurdly impossible - that one of the hijacker's passports was found in the wreckage of the WTC, or that ALL the passports of the hijacker's on flight 93 were found. If you look into the research being done now, independent of the 9/11 Commission, it opens up a whole world of questions that have never even been asked, let alone answered by the Commission or the regime.
I think it will be like JFK's assissination - we'll probably never really know what happened.

One of my goals is to read everything on the PNAC site. I have yet to post a link because it makes me sick. There is not a word bad enough to describe it and the horror and revulsion I feel. I have so many videos to go over. I found the pictures of the explosion at the Pentagon and there is definitely no plane, nor does the explosion even resemble a plane being there. All I remember about that one is seeing computer generated images reproducing what the crash looked like.
I did meet one lady who was at the pentagon when the explosion occurred at a meeting in DC, but she seemed to indicate feeling that it was a plane.
There is a whole lot to go over in this. And I am very afraid at what I will find.

Mr. BlueSky,
You offered that you are low income and that you pay a ton of FICA & federal withholding.
So I asked HOW low is your income, so I could know your definition of "low income".
You are an anonymous alias. If you don't want to share your figures, then don't. I'm guessing that you & wife earn 30 to 50 grand a year. That would make sense that you would pay about 25% of your check in taxes. FICA takes a bit over 7%. Federal & state could easily take 15% or so.
So? No one is disputing this. There is no surprise that you would pay 25% of your total paycheck(s) in taxes. Join the crowd & be glad it isn't 35%.
VW,
I figure my 99% figure was pretty accurate. There are at least 100 posters on this board. Only one to date has even understood my point, let alone acknowledged it. Therefore, she is about one percent of the total, leaving about 99% remainder. It's not complex math.
Kira,
There are two nice things about Bradblog....
1) He is trying to make paperless ballots extinct. My hat is off to him for that.
2) He does'nt allow posters to impersonate someone they don't like. I see he has deleted numerous posts lately; and I suspect they are people like you & Nunya who want to post as Buckshot with silly or obscene messages, in an attempt to discredit my factual statements.
At least on this blog, if the post says Buckshot, you know it is the same person all the time.
The more I read these left-leaning blogs, the more I understand why the country works the way it does. People believe what they already believe, and no amount of factual information will sway them. If you continue to rub their faces in factual info, they will stop at nothing to smear you, curse you, ridicule you, etc. The one thing they will NOT do is to respond in a n adult, civilised manner.

But on re-reading the article I linked in #113, here's a paragraph that is important to note:
"I have a different view. The July 23 memo is important because it is an official document produced at the highest level of government of the most important U.S. ally. Its authenticity has not been disputed. Whatever some people said or wrote three years ago, there has never been --- except for this memo --- any official, authoritative claim or confirmation that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." Blair denied that at the news conference. But could the secret minutes of such a meeting be wrong? Maybe there's a different interpretation, or maybe "fixed" means something different in British-speak."

Thanks Bushw@acker And Happy birthday!! So many great people with birthdays in June! mine and another famous person on this board (Kira) had birthdays on the 14th and 15th.
It is interesting that mainstream articles are starting to surface about 9/11. I read the Time Article, then there was the UPI article of Mr. McReynolds and the Sibel Edmonds article re the FBI. So Time and Sibel Edmonds on BuzzFlash came out today June 20th. (well yesterday now). Is this an investigation that is picking up momentum as well?
I certainly hope so. I think I need a few days to recover from the shock and awe of the REAL stories coming out.

http://rigorousintuition.blogspot.com/
On May 27, Radar Online posted court documents it had obtained showing a "George W Bush Jr" had been convicted in a Midland, Texas court of "unlawful practice of medicine," for which he was fined $2,000 and sentenced to one year's probabtion. (What precisely the practice entailed is not specified.) The charge stems from 1986, the middle of George HW Bush's second unofficial presidential term, the height of Iran/Contra, and the year during which George W Bush claims he stopped drinking. Bush is listed as 5'9" tall, 161 lbs, brown hair and blue eyes, born "12-7-45." This could describe President Bush, though according to his White House biography he was born July 6, 1946.

The most telling thing about that above post is the lawyer of record representing that "other" unknown George Bush. Same Bush family that lawyer is a friend of. What precisley did that charge of practicing medicine without a license entail? How about prescribing a controlled substance to oneself. Those were the days when pharmaceutical cocaine was available in most drugstores.

Democratic leaders back Dean, don't want 'wimp'
Democratic National Committee leaders embraced feisty party boss Howard Dean on Saturday and urged him to keep fighting despite a flap over his blunt comments on Republicans.
After a meeting of the DNC's 40-member executive committee at a downtown hotel, members said Dean was doing exactly what they elected him to do --- build the party in all states and aggressively challenge Republicans.
"I hope Governor Dean will remember that he didn't get elected to be a wimp," said DNC member Gilda Cobb-Hunter, a South Carolina state representative. "We have been waiting a long time for someone to stand up for Democrats."

There most certainly is something wrong with those court documents, and that doesn't mean that it's not our Bush. The discrepancy in height is the least of it. And Chimpy's height has always been a matter of dispute. He's the shortest, I think, Not sure about brother Neil, but who counts him, he's the loser. 5'9" is pretty damn close, considering they were trying to mislead the curious who might go poking around the court records at some later date. 2 inches? sounds like an acceptable fudge of stats to me. Poppy headed up the CIA, remember.
Bush
At his August 2001 physical, Bush was supposedly 6 feet 0 inches tall, and weighed 189.75 pounds. (Given that degree of precision in his weight, it probably represented his weight without clothes, or perhaps with a hospital gown.) At his physical the previous year, he weighed 194.5 pounds. His body fat was 14.5% in 2001, down from 19.94% the previous year [4].
USA Today, however, says that Bush is 5 feet, 11 and 3/4 inches tall [19] and Bush's much-discussed National Guard records list him as 5 feet 11 inches tall while in his mid-20s.
Comment: There is no medical reason to measure body fat to a precision of .01%, and it is probably not even possible to do so with any known technique. Consequently, there is certainly no medical reason to report body fat to that degree of precision, unless the aim is to enhance the President's image of fitness by touting a body fat below 20%. Similarly, it is no stretch (pun intended) to imagine that his height was rounded up to the more macho-sounding six feet. All this gives a new meaning to the phrase "Spin Doctors."

Well I hate to lower myself to answering you, and it has nothing to do with you money. You claim most of us don't believe what you say is because we "don't like you". Well again your Wrong, we don't believe you because your simply Wrong, all you say is Wrong (see I know were capitals are too). You are one of the brainwashed followers....simply cattle to the Texans, and when their done with your vote, you'll be butchered to feed the rich like everyone else, sucker!
Now 1st what do you call 'poor Americans'?
Even without your answer he's the fact:
The claim democrats have and all you morons continue to use your rhetoric to misquote is that the poor and middle class pay a higher share of the taxes in ratio to their earnings! Got it....yes the rich may pay 'more' in total taken in, but in ratio to people's earnings the rich pay LESS!
That's the important factor (that is morally wrong, especially when those assholes use the savings to build their business outside of this country). When a family earning $100,000 pays $33,000 and the family earning $1,000,000 pays $33,000 due to BS tax cuts there is a problem, especially with the debt level bush is leaving on 'US' Americans, that he and his have no intention of paying down!
So the polls that showed that about 40 percent of Americans believe that poor Americans pay more income taxes than rich Americans is TRUE!
Only those earning less than $30,000ish don't pay taxes, but the majority of Americans that earn working poor wages of $30,000 to $200,000 depending on family situations do pay more taxes in ratio to earnings than the rich, period!

I see why you disagree with me. I know a lot of people who earn from 60K to 120K who are doing quite well. Big houses, new cars, new boats, new snowmachines, putting their kids through college.
And you call these people poor?
My goodness, what would you call a working single mom with 3 kids earning $7 per hour?

Buckshit...I mean Buckshot....apparently you can only absorb a few words at a time, I said "Only those earning less than $30,000ish don't pay taxes, but the majority of Americans that earn working poor wages of $30,000 to $200,000 depending on family situations" and I stand by that statement. If you earn $200,000 and have 4 kids going to college at the same time, a mortgage and doctor bills, you would see that $200,000 taxed at 33% doesn't go far.
Again, you still didn't define 'poor people'?
As for a working single mom w/3 kids earning $7 per hour...I call her poor and abused by the repubican system that feels we should all work for slave labor, while they rob corporations and the US government. So I do call that mom the working poor, she is 'desperatly poor' like many thanks to your beloved bush. Sadly it's her children that will have to go to fight your war, because republican youth won't!

Ada,
You are the only person I know who would call a family who earns $200K per year POOR.
How about it, folks? Does anyone agree with Ada that $200K per year is poor?
Now you say "Only those earning less than $30,000ish don't pay taxes,..."
Okay, Ada - that's exactly my point. Actually some people under $30K per year do pay income taxes, but not many.
As far as my example of a poor single working mom with kids earning $7 an hour - yes she is definitely poor. But she doesn't pay income taxes.
Again, my point is that .... (listen carefully) there are poor people in America. There are people who pay income taxes in America....
But there are no POOR people who pay income taxes in America.
You don't prove me wrong by saying people who earn $30K to $200K are poor. No one on this lefty blog would even back you up with that silly logic.
One more day before my $4000 offer dries up - anyone? Brad?
By the way, Brad, it was humorous that you offered me $1000 if I could prove I did not vote for Bush (how would I prove it?) but you didn't offer to send me the money to put in escrow for you.
Then when I offered first $1000, then $2000, and finally $4000 to you and anyone on this blog who can demonstrate that poor Americans pay income taxes, you insist that I send you the $4K to "hold in escrow".
Excuse me, Brad......
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!
No, Brad. As any rationally thinking person can see, the reason you and your faithful followers have not presented any evidence that poor Americans pay income tax is because (just like the IRS says)...
they don't.
