Problem with MOST of the morons in the U.S. is, they, much like those back in the 70s, just want "things to go along smoothly".. Only now, we have the Media passed out at the wheel (well, drugged and knocked uncounsious by the corperate world that is getting rich on -this- scam.. they didn’t have their pockets getting filled in the 70s by Watergate).
Politics has become taboo. Politics at work (with MORE power-hungry dipshits in charge) prevent discussions there lest you offend someone and lose your job.. Politics in a bar is.. well, duh.. no point in trying to make sense to a drunk.. Politics at church pretty much goes only one way .. "That President.. good god fearing man, he is… must be doing the right thing". Where else is there to socialize and discuss things? No one is getting the info they -need- from the Media.. so we’re left to stumble around in the dark until "the smoking gun of a mushroom cloud" (in some context) lights up the night sky.. /sigh
Sorry.. do I sound bitter and defeated? If so, that’s just because every day I see more and more total idiots allowed to walk around and breed.. makes me sick and sad and angry.. blah blah..
Better get back to work before my job is targeted to be out-sourced to some 3rd world (or equivalant) country.. God knows it’s only the "bottom line" that matters and not helping keep the country that allows the business to thrive with the protection of the military, taxes, and laws.. re: Watergate comparison:
First you have to assume that Nixon deserved to be impeached for having knowledge of a break in that was attempting to get inside information on a Democrat call girl ring.
Many in America, indeed maybe more than a majority, feel that Nixon never should have resigned and that had the Congress been more of a level playing field; Nixon would have ignored Watergate and said "On with your house of cards impeachment"!
Nixon was one of our greatest Presidents and Watergate was nothing; but two no nothing cub reporters got a big break when a ticked off FBI employee that had been passed over for a promotion broke the FBI code of ethics. Of course what goes around comes around, and Mr. Felt was convicted a few years later for doing precisely the same thing.
Kennedy would have been impeached had the Congress been Republican.
LBJ would have been impeached had the Congress been Republican.
There is NO big story to a Democrat Congress impeaching Nixon, just like you whiners think ought to be done to Bush now.

Jimmo, a recess appointment will be politically damaging for Bush. It is a sign of weakness that he cannot control his caucus. If Bolton does get through in the end, he will be irrelevant, because he has been exposed as a hack. It will make the U.S. even more of an international laughingstock.

By the way, the story about an Israeli company having a "warning" about 9/11 originated not in the fever swamps of the neo-Nazi movement, but with a respected Israeli newspaper, Ha’aretz, which ran a story saying that one or more New York employees of Odigo received instant messages about half an hour before the attacks. When I wrote to the reporter, Yuval Dror, expressing my extreme skepticism about this story, he assured me that the president of the company, a reputable businessman, stands behind Ha’aretz’s reporting. My opinion: It looks like a planted story, put out there by the Israelis themselves for whatever reason.

The trouble with that, Nunya, is that invaders hardly ever come and then go easily. I sometimes wish yet fear the rest of the world will rise up against America, too, but the truth is even if it did (and for good motives) those good motives wouldn’t last long in that situation. I’m hoping all those sleeping Americans wake up in time and restore some balance.
