In general, I am against the death penalty...however, there are SOME instances where I believe the death penalty is warranted, and necessary. In the case of the crimes of Bush, Cheney and all those involved in planning and executing the war against Iraq, these are crimes of premeditated murder. It's my opinion that these individuals, once found guilty in a court of law, AND THEY ARE GUILTY, should be put to death as murderers and traitors. They committed these crimes in the full belief that they will get away with them. They committed these crimes believing that even if they were "found out", they STILL would get away with them. They committed these crimes believing that the lives of other human beings "don't count" - their abuse of power killed many, many innocent people. They should be put to death. It will be a reminder and DETERRENT to others who aspire to and admire such monstrous behaviour - that it is wrong, it is illegal, and that there will be severe punishment.

So what do you expect to hear from McClellan? That they're all a bunch of scoundrels?
BT,
I copied my last comment from an older thread for you.....Here's your answer to your tax dilemma...I hope you get help filling out your 1040 this year....sounds like you've been screwing yourself bigtime.....
BT,
Let's say your income was $10,000 and you are married with one kid.
Your standard deduction is $9700 for married filing jointly. That wipes out all but $300 of your income right there. Now you still get a deduction of 3100 for each of you (another $9300)
That leaves you a negative $9000. Your taxable income is zero.
You could have earned $9000 more and still had no income tax liability.
This is why it is pointless for low income folks to complain about not getting an income tax cut. They haven't paid any income tax. What is there to cut?
Rich people (and middle earners) got an income tax cut because they PAY INCOME TAX.

re #2 No to the death penalty even for this terrible Bush group. Why shorten their suffering. Why not expose them to the same cruel prison conditions they impose on American prisoners. No deterence effect has been proven to me by use of the death penalty and let's not stoop to the Bush level.
Thanks Brad for all your efforts. True brave Patriot you are.

Hi, DaveM #6 - Thanks for your response to mine. The reason I believe there should be exceptions and that some people should be executed is that, particularly with people like Bush and company, if they do get jail time, it will be short and cushy, with little or no suffering. They will laugh about it and be treated like "normal" people, even as "celebrities" when they are soon released, because of their money and influence.
They are guilty of mass murder, conspiracy to murder, etc. They should be executed. It will send a message to all people like them in positions of power, and they are the "leaders" of what was once regarded as the most powerful nation in the world, that abuse of this power for mass murder will result in SEVERE PUNISHMENT, including the death penalty.

The biggest enemies of our nation are the people who hate America; many of whom seem to be spilling their vile bilge onto this blog. "Progress" -ives? What kind of progress are we talking here? The destruction of the foundation of our society?
America was built on the suffering of others. We wiped out the Indian, slaughtered the buffalo, enslaved the blacks, exploited child labor, spread our tentacles around the world, and now we are suddenly getting all soft and cuddly?
Our very standard of living is based on what we TAKE from others. And the kids spewing their silly comments onto this blog are sponging up as much of this wealth as they can get, just like spoiled rich kids who curse their parents.
I'd love to hear from you young experts on what utopia would be - a world where the rich people all had their wealth taken away - and now we all sit in poverty. Suddenly, manufacturing has stopped, no one's growing food (except their own gardens), we can't afford cars, tv's computers, etc. and we plod to a government job each day to be told what to do by some bureaucrat with a room temperature IQ.
Yeah, utopia.

BS We are talking about Bushco lies and thus his semi-- hidden agenda.
I know I will never be like you. You will never agree with me.
America needs a right and left wing to fly. We have had 1 party rule for almost 5 years now. Thus corruption and lies have grown unchecked.
I'm not a kid and my son is going to Irag in Sept. If he comes back, chances are he will be damaged emotionally and/or physically.
This war was promoted as protecting the US from WMD and terrorism. Which were LIES.
Why aren't you enlisting?? WHY!!! You could go as a contractor. Conquer, enslave, exploit, or kill Iraqi terrorists. Promote THAT American dream.
Why do hate America?

Colleen,
Imagine how you'd feel if your son had been drafted, rather than voluntarily joined the service of his own free will.
I understand your concern for your son's adult choice.
Most of your questions are near-hysterical outbursts form an emotional mother. When & if you calm down, you may try again.
No, I don't plan to go to Iraq - now or ever. I did not go to Vietnam either (by luck).
I love America. I will stay right here, thank you.

BS My son joined the National Guard 7 years ago.
The National Guard's mission is to guard the homeland. Giving up 1 weekend a month to stay trained and ready for local disasters. His unit has gone to the Middle East 3 times in 5 years.
What part of that don't you understand?
If you think war in Iraq is making America safe, prove it. Join the milatary or shut up.

Buckshot, don't make us all laugh. You represent the kind of fascism we're trying to get rid of in this country. The entire war was an illegal, unmoral mass murder disaster. Anyone who fully goes along with it needs to be out there shooting Syrians, Iranians and Iraqis as we speak- Not here in the United States of America.
Now get out there and stop projecting your hate on the rest of us. The truth of the matter is these people are criminals, and must be held responsible once and for all to the rule of justice. I am a long time republican and recognize this is not about party loyalty. No, it is about right and wrong. What Bush, his band of cult christians and the PNAC, CNP groups did is unquestionably and unequivocably wrong. What America did was right in calling them out on what it was: Lies to the world about going to war. Lies about saving everyone from terror. Lies about protecting everybody through "destroying their privacy" in the Patriot Act.
It's time for you to wake up and stop following the lies, or get out of the way. We don't need anymore liars, we need the truth. The truth will set us free.

I have a dream, too. Scott McClellan stands up at a podium in the White House and offers up one of his nonsensical defenses of Bush. And guess what? THERE'S NOBODY THERE! Reporters have gotten so fed up with his bullshit that they no longer show up. In Vietnam era argot..."What would happen if Scottie McClellan gave a press briefing and nobody came?"
Except Jeff Gannon, of course.

Colleen,
The problem is not my reluctance to join the military and get my a** shot off so you will feel whole. The problem is your inability to comprehend that when a full grown American man joins the National Guard, he fully understands that he is giving himself over to our leaders, who will determine when and where he will go, and what he will do. Perhaps you would gain some peace of mind if you could read the contract he signed and the oath he took.
Now I understand he is your son, and you are emotional about the risk to his person. So I'll take it easy on you. We are adults here - talking about adult issues. Get control of your emotions if you want to talk to me. Otherwise you might be better off to skip my posts. You are making a conscious choice to READ MY POSTS. So don't cry to me about what I say. If you don't like my opinion, don't read it.
Ronald,
Perhaps you should look up fascism in the dictionary.
As far as your extremist statements about the war, so far it hasn't amounted to a hill of beans. I predicted 150,000 American deaths before it began, and I still see it lasting many long years and spirialing into civil war that may not be ironed out for a generation. I was against it from the get-go. Your problem is that you have no idea what I think - you are reacting in an emotional knee jerk manner.
Many people on this blog believe anything they hear that puts the GOP in a bad light. From a conspiracy to create 9-11 to who killed JFK, we have no shortage of conspiracy theories.
When you say it's time for me to "wake up and stop following the lies", what exactly do you mean? What assumptions are you making about me? Be specific, please.
Please, hold the cliche's, Dr. King.
Robert,
You're starting to use profanity. Are you slipping over the edge, too? Let's get back to reality & forget the dreams.

"Our very standard of living is based on what we TAKE from others. And the kids spewing their silly comments onto this blog are sponging up as much of this wealth as they can get, just like spoiled rich kids who curse their parents."
Buckshot, this is precisely where fiscal conservatives often get it wrong. Adam Smith's notion that enlightened self-interest driving an invisible hand to produce the common good conflicts sharply with the notion that we should "take" what we want from the Indian, from Iraqis, from Africans. Capitalism, if it is working well, should work through "persuasion." Fair competition offers its own incentive to keep costs down, wages high, citizens fed and cared for, and people working. Greed, on the other hand, is not "enlightened self interest." The strong arm tactics employed by big corporations with the aid of the federal government and the IMF do nothing to but secure the interests of those who already have power. Monopoly capitalists seeks to use means other than the free market to protect their property.
In the end, this will do more to destroy America than the rant of some disgruntled anarchist. Just look at how politicians represent big corporate donors at the expense of citizens. There is no reason that a milk-producer should be forbidden from mentioning that their milk free from Monsanto's bovine growth hormone... yet Monsanto can do just that because they are line the pockets of our leaders. Why do they have a unique right to interfere with free speech and free trade? And this is only ONE example among many.
How come a "progressive" who lives and pays taxes in the US is "anti-American" but a company like Halliburton who has defected to the Cayman Islands rather than pay taxes or observe the law is pro-American? These businesses do not care about America, and when the time comes for them to rally their American-trained mercenary armies behind another emerging superpower... they will if the money is there. Really it makes me sick when people try to call "progressives" un-American,, when are way of life is under attack by people who wave our flag while pissing on our Constitution.
Also, I think it is odd that you are suggesting I look for loopholes to get out of taxes. I like paying taxes. We need the money.

Your last sentence says it all. You "like paying taxes. We need the money."
That would mean something if you were earning 110k per year and paying 25K in federal income taxes. You've already disclosed your financial situation. You will not be paying income taxes until you actually start earning enough income.
You are not the first "progressive" who has told me they would "like to pay taxes" or they feel good about paying taxes (after they have admitted they pay none).
The obfuscation begins when the person mixes all taxes into one bunch and then talks about them all as if they were the same.
At your income, you would better serve your family by going out and WORKING, than by blathering your nonsense on blogs.

So Buckshot, if you don't support the war demand your represenative take a stand in forcing a resolution of inquiry.
You as well as anybody else knows there should be truly competent investigations of this illegal war.
http://www.usalone.com/index.htm
If you truly don't support it, do what you are given the right as a citizen and demand your reps get to the truth.
And finally, there are many places where conservatives, liberals, libertarians differ. But some things are not able to be ignored by any of them. Complicity in 9/11 is one of them, because its a mass treason.
Its mass treason that they actually allowed 9/11 to happen knowingly. Look it up in David Ray Griffins very grounded, skeptical look at 9/11. They never told the truth, and refuse to do so to this day.
Now, if you truly don't support that stand up and do something. This is not a partisan issue, it is like Ronald and others say an issue of right and wrong.
So put your voice to work and make a difference where its needed. Taxes and other agendas aren't at work here, right and wrong are.
David

David,
I've seen it all before. We hve years of upheaval before us. I cannot predict the results any better than you. No one could have guessed how the Vietnam fiasco would have played out. There were a million variables; changing any one of them would have changed all the others.
Same with this war. You can screech yourself hoarse if you want. Not me. Any person who loves history knows that war is as certain as the tide. It will play itself out either with or without you & me.
Colleen,
I'd love to answer your question. However, you ask it in such a way that it is impossible to answer, because it assumes several incorrect premises.
I don't bother defending positions I haven't taken, or statements I haven't made.
If you want to get your pretty little head under control, and ask me about something I ACTUALLY SAID, we can talk. Otherwise, just continue your silly tantrum.
