Is she getting a gig on The View? Watching her rambling excuses with my experience reading people, she was tap dancing. Something else is going on. And that part about 'I asked my children if they want me to do something outside of government to help little children everywhere', they said YES! That was so ridiculously unnatural. Can't wait for the truth about this. You don't just abandon your Governorship like that.... regardless of your ambitions. No way.

Having had up close and personal experience with the AK GOP from 80 to 94, the fact that so many people all over the media immediately began speculating on the other shoe is quite rational.
Sarah was the perfect example of the person who appeared to be what they wanted/needed (not just physically - that was gravy).
From my perspective the GOP got what was coming to them. The fervor to elect people who toe their line, repeating the policy and platform got them the ones who could only parrot, not explain how to apply it since they don't understand the abstract.
The success that they had with it warped their perception, it never occurred to them that a state would actually elect someone and continue to highly approve of her, who was nothing more than a capable sports anchor with ambition and overconfidence in her ability. That she could function as she did in the office and not have a brighter than average bulb. Blind to the fact that Alaska politics is virtually straight GOP. If the oil industry says jump, they ask how high while going up.
My guess on the shoe would include their house that was built by workers from the company that built Wasilla's budget breaking sports complex. Very close to the Palin's lakefront house, at the same time the complex was under construction. Hey, Uncle Ted (Stevens) got his remodeled by VECO. It must be OK. This is only a guess. Sarah has proven herself to be unpredictable. Not a good trait for governors, VPs or POTUS.

Even Fox News aired some speculation about Palin's motives concerning her resignation.
It is very possible that an upcoming scandal could be breaking. It is also possible that Palin is just being herself and demonstrating her lack of political professionalism and sense of political responsibility.
If the voters elect you to do a job, you should finish your term if humanly possible. Unless faced with serious scandal or health issues, it is not very responsible to walk away from your duties.

Oh, please please please let there be more to this!
And by my estimation, I am reasonably sure there will be. No one in the political world gives up their position for no reason. If she was willing to go through all the B.S. thrown at her about her out of wedlock grandson from her high-school age daughter when spouting her "family values", and all the other hypocritical stuff she was a part of. Why would she bow out now and give up the little bit of ability she has to protect herself with the power of her office?
I'm bettin' there is more to this story, and it is going to be gooood and juicy. The question is; Will the mainstream media run with it like like a Micheal Jackson child molestation charge, or more the Sibel Edmonds information? For some reason, I suspect the latter.

aka a jobs bill and the democrats will be as unstoppable as they were before the civil rights era. James Carville is right the left will dominate for the next forty years. Get used to the idea of universal health care because it's coming, and once it's here and everyone sees what a load of crap all of the right wing fearmongering for the last 40 years has been you'll have to wait for this entire generation to die off in order to elect a county coroner. The right's best bet at this point is to run Mccain again in 2012.

I hope that Palin will survive, and continue to stymie both the right and the left, especially the misogynists, and fanatics, of any political persuassion.
I take great delight in the fact that she scares the hell out so many elite, entitlement prone politicians, and their supporters, on both sides.
She is the one bright light in all of the current muck, doom, and murkiness. She quite wryly gladdens this old eccentric, socially liberal, fiscally conservative Dem.'s heart.
I am so tired of the status quo, corporate owned, "we know it all", politicians from both (or is there just one, mirrored?) parties.
I see no hope, nor change from either; so Palin at least provides a bit of realism to an otherwise stale, stagnant, screw us all, political landscape.
I wish her great success in whatever comes after, and truly hope she continues to perplex, and wreak havoc unto all!

We knew about the suspicious construction of her house, I don't know why the story was dropped by the MSM. Palin has alot of skeletons in her closet and I thought her fake pregnancy would be exposed but this makes much more sense.
She had to resign before this story broke, she cannot coverup a federal investigation only her own ethics violations that were dismissed by people she appointed. Her rambling, incoherent speech must have meant that she found out the hammer was going to drop yesterday or within the past few days.

I actually have no problem with true "left and right". They actually have a center, where one ends and the other begins. At least, creating the possibilty, however far-fetched, that perhaps someday politicians (prompted by some sort of endemic outbreak of sanity) might try to govern, as nearly as possible, for all of us (the people) rather than special interests.
I will not, however, hold my breath.

Mention is also made of a “long simmering embezzlement/IRS scandal” that is still being looked at by the feds.
Embezzlement from this trust may be involved. Because this is being investigated by IRS and FBI, palin is powerless to use her office to block the probe, hence she's goin' down and bailed out early.

HERE'S WHAT'S ABOUT TO BREAK (NOTE THE DATE JUNE 30):
Published: March 4th, 2009 09:25 PM
Last Modified: March 4th, 2009 09:26 PM
Former Veco chief executive Bill Allen and a Veco vice president, Rick Smith, won't have to worry about prison again until at least June 30, when federal prosecutors will present another status report on their cooperation in the long-running FBI investigation.
U.S. District Judge John Sedwick accepted the most recent status report, filed under seal Tuesday by prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney's office in Anchorage. He agreed to allow the filing in secret "because it relates to on-going investigations," he wrote in an order.
Sedwick's order was the fifth time he has delayed sentencing and asked for status reports since the two men pleaded guilty in May 2007 to corrupting Alaska legislators. Their trial testimony has since led to guilty verdicts against two legislators and former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens.
Federal guidelines entitle Allen and Smith to shorter sentences if they continue to cooperate until they are no longer needed. The latest delay is the strongest indication yet that the government is still pursuing its investigation despite setbacks following the Stevens conviction, including an FBI agent who claimed another agent and prosecutors violated Justice Department policy and may have broken the law.
The four-month delay before the next status report is substantially shorter than the previous delay, which was seven months. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Bottini said there was nothing significant about the disparity other than the belief of prosecutors that the judge preferred a shorter period. Two earlier delays were three months each, and a third was sixth months.

Palin manic-ness and unpreparedness is THE indication there is something else going on then just looking for better career pastures, getting out of spotlight. She was wicked short of breath, not normal for some in good shape. She is freaking out, there has to be some stuff really scaring her, and I want to guess scaring her beyond just her political career, like a family thing or criminal/jail thing. Ironically, (and you see this with flagrant criminals often) she chooses to stand and "show off" her quid pro quo in an attempt to deflect the ovious assumption that if she had a brain in her head, the last thing she would do would be to stage something as public as this at a potential "crime scene". Conservatives are "cons" because its obvious if they aren't in legal or some kind of "family values" trouble all you have to do is wait awhile and the "cons" never disappoint!
I guess we should all just be thankful this scandal, so far, doesn't involve sex in dirty diapers, gay meth prostitutes, snuff films, child sex or other sick Republican shit. And before any Republicans start moaning and bitching that Democrats "do it, too." Yea, maybe so, but its the HYPOCRISY and the face Republicans NEVER seen to lose their jobs or experience the same consequences when it occurs to them versus Democratic politicians. When is the last time a sex scandal has hit a "con" and he got impeached or lost his job over it? Senator "dirty diapers" Vitter? Nope... Senator "wide stance" Larry Craig... another nope...
Family Values is just a hypocritical way for them to troll for votes from those who are scared to death if they don't vote Republican then someone might think they are the perverts they secretly are! One finger pointing out, and FOUR pointing back at themselves!

Big scandal! And to those doubting that Mr. Palin might have actually done a lot of work on his own house, you clearly underestimate "small town" people. I know plenty of people who've built their own houses and have a lot of other irons in the fire at the same time. That's just the kind of people we are. Amid all the speculation, what strikes me as the most obvious and most certain lie taking place is the assertion that this has been in the works for any significant length of time at all. Anderson Cooper just asked her long time spokesperson by telephone whether this has been in the works for a while, as Palin stated. She replied yes. Anderson then followed up (not verbatim). 'Why are you in New York if this has been planned for a while, and not with her in Alaska , where the announcement was made ?? The spokesperson answered that she had a Blackberry and 'technology is beautiful'!!!!! Are you kidding me? People @ 'press conference' are saying it was painfully obvious that it had been thrown together mere hours before it took place. It appears no prominent Alaska brass or Governor brass knew anything till perhaps Wednesday. This is so obviously a severely panicked bail !!!

Jes:
Wasilla is small town but main supllier in this case is big company all over Alaska, not necessarily carpenter next door. The local guys that did not get contract complained from begineer about unfairness of bidding process and corruption, long before Palin was gov or vp canidate. If Todd built this with his school buddies that have been taking turns building eachother houses, additions, I am sure they will be able to attest to that. However, his neighbors, likely ones to pitch in at some point in a small town are the ones saying Todd Palin never lifted a finger.
You likely a moral person who has worked hard for everything you have and helped out your community and you are conservative, but don't make the mistake that all conservatives from a small town are like you. Bet you know conservatives from your town who are not moral, not good neighbors. I would never be surprised to see Dem doing somethign completely against what I would do, I know some of them are bad and do bad things...like congressman with 400k cash in his freezer, or like John Edwards or Clinton cheating. I don't think Repubs are just making those things up. I haven't cheated, I haven't stolen money/taken bribes, but I can accept these dems have done these things. I don't defend their actions and say they are victims of media. Bad is bad, any party. If there is ample evidence house was stolen and no counter evidence it was not, you have to accepts facts.

Prediction: Indictment between July 6 and 10, following the Independence Day holiday weekend. I suspect that she or her attorneys became privy to information that a federal complaint is being prepared. She doesn't want to be caught like Blagojevich in Illinois, dragged off in cuffs at the crack of dawn by the feds while she's still the Gov. Then she'd have to refuse to resign lest it be construed as an admission of guilt by the public. That would lead to impeachment proceedings in Alaska - a sorry repeat of the comedy in Illinois. She can't be wasting money on defending herself against impeachment. She's going to need all her cash for her federal defense - or to negotiate some sort of plea agreement to reduce her time in the slammer.

Palin, by resigning as Governor of Alaska, has made a smart, calculated move; if indicted, she will have the ability to pay for a top law team.
Currently she is high demand around the nation as a speaker - which can cull in a tidy profit. Those moneys are currently capped by being a Governor - not so, by being just a citizen.

I'm going on the assumption that neither the Wasilla Sports complex or the governor's home are federal buildings, or federally funded, therefore federal investigators would not have jurisdiction.
Isn't there enough real stuff wrong with her without making up stuff?
Maybe someone told her Vanity Fair said people on the street in Alaska think she's a narcissist, she thought she was betrayed, so now she'll go out and be a fundraiser or pundit or something.

And yes, most houses and sports complexes are made of wood and have square windows. Also, in small towns such as Wasila there are not an overabundance of contracters who could handle jobs of such scale well and cost effectively. It only makes sense that materials and workers were the same in many cases. If that's what your hunch is based on, it's pretty sad.
And what I don't get is what the obsession with Palin is. People must really perceive her as a valid threat to the Dems agenda.

She will not run for President...as a Republican. She will build a third party, independent movement, possibly absorbing ballot lines of some existing parties (Reform, Constitution)and run that way in 2012. She has the sense of "god-inspired" destiny to be President, but her skin is too thin to handle brusing, competitive Republican primaries. So she can simply skip the middleman and go straight to the endgame. Remember you read it here first!

The greater message behind Palin, of course, is the desperation and ignorance (some call it treasonous intentional incompetence) of the GOP in it's selection of an unvetted little shop of horrors to be second in command of this country.
This woman was a total puff piece, a fraud from the start - perhaps even an experiment to see if abible-thumping female wearing a short skirt and a bouffant hairdo and looking like some sleazy corner hooker could be taken seriously. They learned this lesson fast - NO WAY!
Now they want to ditch her and she's attached to each of them at the hip - not the least of which is pathetic old geyser McCain's political rep and legacy of total buffoonery in the most critical decision he was to make for the american people: ensuring that his second in command could handle the job.
Now we discover that she not only couldn't handle the job of properly rearing her children but is totally incompetent to handle the job as governor and has to quit due toeing totally overwhelmed by it all.
The sick GOP trolls who throw the public's fascination with Palin in our faces know only too well why we care:
1)It indicts the GOP once again for being a gang of incompetent hypocrites.
2) Everyone stops and looks at a train wreck or car accident (so what's new here?).
3) The sheer incredulousness of observing a pathological liar once again spin a spe ech out of pure drivel and lies boggles the mind.
I say this has 'everything to do with TIMING'....just connect the dots of what we do know - June 30 was the date of the federal prosecutor's report where the Veco brothers were spilling their guts in exchange for a lighter sentence.
June 30/July1: Insiders of McCain camp spill their guts about Palin's total inadequacies and attempt to lie about Todd's 7 year membership in the AIP (a total no-no). Why did these insiders decide to go public NOW? It's called CYA in political lingo.
These assclowns totally underestimate the intelligence of the american people in their ridiculous belief that this will not only destroy the GOP now but each time Senile Johnny gets before us, we will all be laughing in his face
McAddled will probably also be linked to Phil Gramm soon and the UBS "tax cheats" so we may see them all wearing matching jumpsuits soon!!

As to the comment above about embezzlement not being a "crime", guess again.
Also, if it walks likea moose, talks like a moose, it's a moose!
The FEDS, incidentally, are the ones who took down TedStevens - this has everything to do with the deadline of June 30 for the federal prosecutors report concerning the Veco brothers spilling their guts and indicting others in return for a lesser sentence.
But go bury your head in the sad, trolls, if you so choose.

Included among the 2006 earmarks Sen. Barack Obama requested was $1 million for the hospital where Michelle Obama was employed.
Her compensation at the hospital, btw, more than doubled from $121,910 in 2004, just before her husband was elected to the Senate, to $316,962 in 2005, just after he took office.
Amazing coincidence...

It's obvious that Palin has something to hide...she abruptly resigns with 2 years left to her term, she resigns over 4th of July weekend (slow news time), she's being avoidant about her reasoning and most news organizations are already onto the "Iceberg Scandal".
Yet these right wing automatons and dittoheads are blindly parroting GOP talking points in her defense. I could write a paper on right wing denial and self-loathing just reading their responses on this blog.

This iceburg issue has been around since the election. I do think that the FBI is probably investigating this. No one gets a 1/2 million dollar home for nothing.
BTW someone needs to investigate the six websites all collecting money for Palin. This issue has alot of room for fraud, if in fact they are not following the law, and requirements of the Federal Election Commission. One PAC has been around since the last election, and they advertised on that site they were collecting monies to pay for tv ads nationally for her. The problem is, that McCain and the RNC were paying for the ads. So where did the money go? Will she stop the donations because if she uses the money for personal reasons, she will be committing fraud. Did she report the $150000 in clothes she took back to Alaska? That is considered income. She had to report this gift and then deduct what the clothes were worth when she put them in the garbage bags. She may have more problems with the IRS in the near future also.
I just can't believe people actually feel she is capable of being President. She does not want to study for two years and learn about foreign affairs. This woman just dosen't know when a lie is a lie, she actually believes some of this stuff. for example, she argued that Todd didn't belong to any anti American group, but he did for seven years, and she is on UTube giving a speech to them.

This kind of "reporting" is the same sort that wallows in the ignorance of such insightful endeavors as "does Obama wear boxers or briefs?" or "what does Obama eat?"
Pathetic and a sad commentary that America no longer understands the concept of critical thinking and instead only requires The National Enquirer and sound bytes.
Wonder how many here spend mindless hours in front of their TV glued to the screen watching American Idol or the plethora of inane "reality" shows.
And people actually wonder why America is in the mess it is?

Nothing speculative about:
*$500,000+ home whose value is probably immensely understanded
*"first dude" did not build it, his neighbors say that
*palin was part of team stevens - guilty of corruption but let off on a technicality relating to chimpy's incompetent DOJ (funny how repugs usually scream about these things)
*embezzlement is a felony and the feds have every right to get involved
*trading public favors to enrich yourself at taxpayers expense is embezzlement - especially when a scam sports-complex with huge cost over-runs can be demonstrated to be part of the deal to build said $500,000 house
*people already convicted of crimes related to AK corruption had until June 30 to show "good faith", tell what they know, and hope for lighter criminal sentences
*Out of the blue, July 3, palin quits!
These are easy to document facts and they are more than enough to put the kibosh on your little bimbo-fraud queen.

Apologies for being off topic...but I must say...
Right Wingers haven't realized that the country has shifted to the Left. Right wing policies and hypocracy has exposed them as shams and charlatans. Right Wing catering to billionaires and Wall Street has exposed them as ignorant tools of the rich, while those very rich folks are robbing them (and all of us)blind.
The right wing dittohead automatons are simply divide and conquer tools to keep the population at each other's throats and distract from the blatant robbery that's happening before our very eyes.
The racist Obama haters are just using right wing politics as a cover for their bigotry.
I'm not happy with Obama because he hasn't delivered what he campaigned on yet...he may still deliver he's only 6 months into a 4 year term. But listening to this right wing ignorant mob incited by Fox news's lies and craziness gives me hope...
The right wing lies have been exposed...soon true conservatives will regain control of their party from the radical right wing fringe. And maybe this country will again have a reasonable rational debate. Here's hoping the Left doesn't give up before that happens...so far Obama's ignoring of the Left makes him look bought and paid for by Wall Street. This country is there for the people to take back, but we have to make Obama know that we won't be ignored.
The clock is ticking Obama...listen to us or the Left finds another party to back...right now the Greens look promising.

Her "cut and run" ramblings yesterday just reminded me of why she should have never been placed a 72 year old heart beat from the Presidency. The USA deserved better and we voted better on Nov 4th 2008.
If Palin wanted to be seriously considered in 2012, she should have returned to Alaska, picked up (and read) a few books, and did the job for which she was paid by Alaska taxpayers. You asked some very intelligent questions and I'm going to answer them
First...Fascism and socialism are of the same family. NAZISM stands for Nationalist Socialist Party. The difference is this. Nazism is socialism but gives the appearance of capitalism. What I mean here is there are Corporations that are separate from gov't however, through coercion the government controls the corporations. Socialism is direct command control by the government. What we have brewing here in front of us that first started with Bush and is now accelerating right in front our collective noses is a combinational Fascist-Socialist dictatorship.
As for your next questions, show me where socialism and maxism actually worked. Britain and France have socialist based gov't and there are nearly Bankrupt. As for Russia..what happenned to them. China has survived but they are turning to capitalism.
The bottom line is that the constitition does not allow the federal govt to be involved in SOCIAL ENGINEERING like Medicare and Social Security. This issues should be handled by each of the REPUBLICS. ALASKA should be dealing with healthcare, education, and welfare as expressed by each states individual constition.
I've hoped that I have enlightened you. Happy Independence Day

I am eternally grateful that a woman who couldn't site a news source she read or describe any policies that were at work in this country didn't become within a heartbeat of the Presidency. For an example of where Socialism worked, look no farther than right here in the Good ol' US of A...
The new deal was socialism at it's best. it created the middle class and gave workers some dignity and a piece of the American dream.
Ronald Reagan started the undoing of our middle class and unionized labor...Bush Sr. and Clinton continued and W Bush put Reagan's destruction of the new deal on steroids and finished the job.
No offense intended but you need to do some more reading...your facts are way off.

Is this "Cut and run" as used by Pig Lips during the campaign?
In an interview with Fake News immediately after the press conference, her brother said he found the same way everyone else did - the news conference. The announcer at Fake News said they knew about it 2 hours before the announcement. I guess they are more important than the "family". Didn't she also say that the family voted "hell yea!" How? Pig Lips First husband "flew in last night to be at my side, as usual". Why wasn't he there when the decision was being voted on?
Another one bites the dust.

#178, if not for the Socialism, where would we be today?
We have:
1. 5-day work week
2. 7 1/2 to 8 hour work day
3. Minimum wage
4. Medicare for your for parents and grandparents
5. Social Security(if small Bush(the shrub) had his way, Wall Street would have lost all that in their greed)
6. Somewhat clean air to breathe
7. The right to vote
8. A banking system that worked for 50 years until the Gramm and McCain dismantled it
9. Food that is somewhat safe to eat
10. Imports that were tariffed to save American jobs, until Reagan/Bush dismantled it
11. OSHA for a safe workplace(the miners are still hoping to be included)
TO LIST A FEW! There are lots more I can add.

A general comment on partisan battles the are in these comments: I find lots of criticisms by liberal/progressives of what Obam is doing with Wall Street etc..and they have issues with Dodd and Frank, and also issues with what Paulson, Bush. However, most of the conservatives comments on her seem to indicate you only think only evil or corruption comes from Dems, never conservatives. While most liberal Dems I know think Dems pols do a lot bad also, but tend to support Dems in general as less worse as Repubs. I think you can make a credible case that as bad as I see Geitner and Obama on bank bailout, they are less worse than Paulson, because they have been slightly more transparent and slightly better spending some of the debt on general economy not just banksters. Not that is much consolation to me, as our Admin and Congress seem owned by Wall Street.
However, my point is, I can see flaws in Dem pols and can admit that they exposing of these flaws is not just Repub conspiracy or just holier-than-thou religious zealots looking down on Dems, they really are corrupt sometimes. I think many stories on Brad Blog show how this blog and many of its followers are willing to be quite critical of Dems when it is of real substance, like Brad's issue with Holt voting bill currently profiled here and Hillary's strangely analamous comeback win in NH primary etc... but BradBlog is also unwilling to yield to inaccurate spin like Acorn stupidity or saying Franken stole it when MN process was a million times more thorough and transparent and bi-partisan than Florida 2000. I think where evidence supports the Dem criticism, Brad Blog and the like are more than willing to report it and expose it.
How can we make progress if we just always think the other party is the bad guy and can't see the corruption and lack of populist representation where ever it is. Please, conservatives, please consider some of your guys can be corrupt too, just as Brad has been willing to do in regards to Dems. And where our interests overlap, such as the corruption of government by Wall Street, lets get it together and stop this corruption instead of always blaming the other party.

OH.... I see now-it's on the net. Well what more verification does one need? I wasn't aware of the unimpeachable nature of the net.
Gee you mean all the alien abduction stories are true? Have you been assigned your Fema number and relocation site yet-or fitted for one of those Fema "coffins"? Elvis and MJ are really alive and well?-what a relief!
Google it-today's mantra-and the pathetic fallacy that Wikipedia has become with their constant battle to root out the misinformation there.
Since you seem to be familiar with the oft trod path to these unimpeachable sites try the latest thing-it's called cross referencing.
Instead of clinging to whatever would seem to support your favored position be willing to search for opposing views and objectively weigh the merits and base your opinions on those results.
The "tubes"-let me guess you have never heard the term "photoshopped' and for the multitude of "evidence' that has been shown to be ps'd you are in denial and claim instead that such creators of these laughable bits of evidence are unsung patriotic heroes? Well 'nuf said then.
Don't you realize that all it takes in today's society is for some idiot to make a statement, present "proof" and it then becomes gospel? Do you buy into all this?
I'm willing to bet you are one of the so called "truthers" who thinks 9/11 was a government conspiracy , the NWO and Illuminatti are behind the swine flu and nobody ever actually landed on the moon because it is indeed cheese and incapable of supporting the additional weight.
Personally I don't care what Palin or your
personal favorite does-haven't you realized by now that no politician serves the best interests of the country-their primary concern is re election, the political debts they have incurred and corporate America? All the while counting on people to obscure reality with bumper stickers, ridiculous mantras and waving banners with either an elephant or an ass on it.

I'm going on the assumption that neither the Wasilla Sports complex or the governor's home are federal buildings, or federally funded, therefore federal investigators would not have jurisdiction."
Answers:
1. Mail and wire fraud - Title 18, UnitedStates Code, Sections 1341,1343, and 1346
2. Title 18, United States Code,Sections 666(a)(1)(B) and 2 - Theft or bribery concerning programs receiving Federal funds. "Concerning" is the operative word here. If the Wasilla Sports Complex or the city are receiving federal money for practically any kind of program taking place there, it probably will be sufficient to establish a violation.

This is such vindication of female liberals everywhere who patently rejected Failin'Palin as "one of them". Once this woman paraded her children on stage using them as political tools, we began to smell a rat (or an abusive mother). Of course, when her obviously embarrassingly pregnant daughter was outed by Palin to the media and they responded, she slapped them down saying "family was off limits".
When did we EVER see Obama's daughters out there as political pawns on stage? Fact: Never! This is a quality parent who is not ambiguous - saying one thing and doing another. This is the action of a very caring parent.
Then she was sequestered from the press in an obvious attempt for her to "study up" so she could be made presentable. Well, as it now goes the adage thoughout (which she even said about herself) was that you "can't put lipstick on a pig" and if it smells like a pig, walks like a pig...well you get the 'gist.
This vacuous woman in no way, shape or form could be made presentable or credible to the intelligent, accomplished women in this country who patently rejected her. Her lack of curiosity, intelligence and world view made it obvious that she was out of her league and, in no way, exemplified the qualities and characteristics of a national leader.
We now have the proof which we've known for a long time - Sarah Palin botched her job as mother with her children; she couldn't cut the mustard even being Mayor of Wasilla where there was a massive recall ongoing for her ouster, she never showed up for work as Governor of Alaska (the legislature had "where's sarah" pins - yes, actually they did!). Her approval ratings tanked like the titanic following her "onstage hate mongering" which was tantamount to inciting violence in our public square and she should have been arrested under the Patriot Act back then.
Failin'Palin botches it again - this time she quit again just as she did with the 5 or 6 colleges she attended when she didn't get the grades she wanted......it's a pathological pattern of incompetence combined with psychiatric paranoia and the need to play the 'victim'.
If all you've evern known is chaos, then when things become a bit too calm, you pathologically create your own situation to increase the chaos.
Palin has been embroiled in petty disagreements with everyone who has ever crossed her path in life from her own brother in law, to her college profs, to the people of wasilla and now to her own legislature who have now rejected her.
Sorry Sarah but we all knew that you were never cut out for the job. It's difficult for intelligent women everywhere to refrain from saying the obvious: We told you so!

What's even more great about that is that Obama's staff didn't lash back at Helen or attempt to smear her like right wing administrations have done. Helen voiced her concerns and critique of Obama's whitehouse without repercussion...reporters who critiqued the Bushies were retalitated against by the right wing smear machine and lied about on Fox news.
Helen Thomas voiced her critisism of Obama without repercusssin or backlash...it's so American...great for the 4th of July.

The drunken sod I was referring to starts with Kennedy, and continues with Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, and the recent celebutante to enter the Hall of Liars, Barack Obama.
FYI - If Iraq is such a failure - why has Obama called it a success, and taken credit for that success. Will you mock him when he holds up the flag and says "We Won".. as aften as he say "I Won"? Some of my Democrat friends are now realizing that Obama is Bush -lite. Not even close. Palin Indictment Countdown Parties to Begin!
People everywhere are rejoicing that this fraud has stepped down as she has become a major embarrassment to a huge majority of americans (Repubs included).
This news about the federal prosecutors report on June 30 regarding the Veco brothers and what they're saying about Palin's involvement in corruption and embezzlement is most definitely the reason for her hasty departure. Remember: this woman is not enlightened enough to run from anything but the law.
Consider the sequence of last week:
June 30 - Federal prosecutors release findings from Veco investigation and/or their plea bargaining in exchange for critical palin information.
July 1-2 - McCain camp happens to release very damaging and damnin emails from Palin vis-a-vis her attempt to lie about Todd's 7 year membership in the Alaska Secession Party (AIP). She actually was admonished by Schmidt for attempting to spin this into a total lie.
July 3 - Palin cobbles together a ridiculous resignation presser complete with mating ducks behind her and standing in front of what may be come to be known as the crime scene. You can't make this stuff up and it's a perfect plot for a new thriller. Doesn't the criminal always try to throw everyone a curve ball (using Palin's childish sports analogies)?
Buckle your seat belts, folks, because we're all in for a very bumpy ride.
This sad drama has only reached Act 1.

This is very interesting. Last october they went after this. I suspect it took about 1 hour for Spenard to look up tickets for supplies and the case was dropped. Mr Palin worked on the North Slope. It is 7 on and seven off and he could work full time building a house. Saves several hundred thousand dollars. Remember Stevens didn't do any work on his. Windows. The liberals that live in the cities are clueless. Small towns have only one lumber yard and that yard may have a lot of locations. It pays to carry only 1 brand. Some window companies have 5-6 names they sell under. Canada also has very few brands and they are glazed for artic temps.
He also wears Carhart and that is what builders wear. Since Palin was a Mayor, Spenard a statewide and regional brand really didn't get much for subsidizing a small town Mayor.
Another lie on daily kos is the impossibliity of building a house when you have 5 kids. How crazy. Do the math. That is 7 years ago and they had not all been born. Embezzlement is a common word. That is when someone handles cas. I doubt she handled a dollar but the city had a book keeper/accojnatant that paid bills.
Nice sports arena. Dr Menard promoted it. Indoor soccer and even an ice hockey team. That meas they sell tickets and generate revenue. The sports complex hosted the state soccer championships several times. It is not a church gym. For some reason, blogs report gossip as news. Too lazy to do research? i have been to Wasilla. It is on the main hwy and is booming.

I wonder does anyone here work for the DNC? Does anyone here want to be Axelrod when they grow up? Do Republicans have a clue? Is there such thing as unbiased objective reporting?

As true as that was...it was funny.
As far as me personally; I too tire of the partisan stuff. But seeing as we're hearing the same old tired lying right wing rhetoric; I'm at a loss as to how counter it. Other than pointing it out the ignorance and hypocracy of right wingers and coming off as "partisan".
As far as I'm concerned...I'm a Progressive in search of a party with the guts to institute some Progressive policies. It's obvious that the Dems don't have the guts.
I find it amusing the the right wing nuts will call Obama a loony socialist in one breath and then call him "Bush lite" in the next...and they don't see the duplicitous nature of their statements. I sincerely believe that right wing nuts are completely confused and bamboozled by the brainwashing of Fox news.
Obama is 6 months into a 4 yr. term...and this juncture W Bush had done nothing but vacation in Crawford while the tech bubble was bursting and ignore CIA warnings about an imminent threat of a terrorist attack (9/11).
No I'm not happy with Obama at this time...but he gets credit for at least being at work. Maybe, just maybe there is a long term plan in operation and Obama feels the best way to appraoch our crisis is to not tip everything over at once...Maybe it's a baby steps approach. I'm willing to see where we are in a year. Then I'll judge Obama's performance.

So dragging the convo back to the original point...
Right wingers still haven't given a viable sensible reason why a woman elected to govern a state for 4 years; decides she doesn't want to do that anymore.
She's not ill; so that's not the issue.
She simply decided she didn't want the job anymore ?
Does that make her a trusted person to elect to any other office again.
Ms. Palin does this on a "news dump" day which only adds to the speculation of coming charges of wrong doing...and in the reading of right wing responses to Ms. Palin's obvious irresponsible act they offer No, nada, zilch as a workable reason...other than it's Obama's fault or Dems fault or they were out to get her anyway...and those right wingers wonder why they aren't taken seriously.

As much as I dislike her "smart people are stupid" and the fact that the bottom line is that she just isn;t very bright, I tend towards the idea that she took a look around at her family and realized this is not what she wants. Call her a quitter if you must, but perhaps the reasons are as simple as she so convolutedly stated in her PC. She wants a more normal life. we'll see if that holds true. Probably not, but maybe.

A gay prostitute, a phony media organization that managed to sneak its "reporter" into White House press briefings, and the lies that were fed to the media and the American people in the run-up to war with Iraq – what possible connection could these items have to one another?
The answer: a man called "Jeff Gannon."
Amid the media frenzy over Gannon's journalistic bona fides, or lack of them – and the lurid speculation going on in the left lane of the blogosphere about how a purported male hooker got admitted to White House press briefings before his "Talon News Agency" (a front group created by "GOPUSA") was even created – one has to ask: who cares?

Under the Bush administration, the federal government has aggressively used a well-established tool of public relations: the prepackaged, ready-to-serve news report that major corporations have long distributed to TV stations to pitch everything from headache remedies to auto insurance. In all, at least 20 federal agencies, including the Defense Department and the Census Bureau, have made and distributed hundreds of television news segments in the past four years, records and interviews show. Many were subsequently broadcast on local stations across the country without any acknowledgement of the government's role in their production.

It's a deal. But I have to challenge you on some of your statements.
First off, I don't recall Obama saying he would cap unemployment at 8%. You'll have to show some evidence of that.
2nd; This Bush economic meltdown had a full momentum when Obama took office in January. Please explain to me how Obama is supposed to turn that around in less than 6 months.
Face it the radical right wing has shaped this economy for 8 years, maybe even going back to '94. None, I repeat none of this is Obama's doing. If things are the same this time next year then I'll entertain it...but now this is still Bush's economy.
But I do stand with you on the point that this country will only heal when left and right can have a decent debate-conversation on the issues and settle on a course of action. As it now the Right Wing noise machine is sabotaging the country...Ideology won't save us. A willingness to work together in a true give and take manner is our only hope.
The right wing noise machine needs to be silenced for that to happen. The only way that's going to happen is when true conservatives put them on mute and start working for the good of all...not just right wing sympathizers.

This "news" article has about as much relevance on the national stage your favorite soap opera.
I wonder if it is this right wing noise machine mentioned above that is making criminals out of people who don't have health insurance as this health care package is destined to do-or if it is the same noise machine that will criminalize honest people for the heinous crime of carrying a folding pocket knife in their pocket? Oh yeah one more thing -that would be understated rather than understanded-guess that's another field of expertise for you-property evaluation.
Unfunded future commitments are not now owed. And which of these future commitments are "thanks to his [Obama's] insightful policies"?
Medicare Part D? Social Security? Medicare? Is it true to say that since January 2009 the US has accrued 54 trillion in debt and unfunded obligations? It is not true.
Change the retirement age to 70 and the value our future obligations tumble. Negotiate drug prices using CMS's market power and the value our future obligations tumble.
The problem with extending trend lines out 50 years and coming up with a number (54 trillion) is that it assumes policies are static which has never been true.

Now there's a solution-change the retirement age to 70-why not 80? Think of the tumbling obligations if that were the case-you seem to propose that the social security fund is even solvent-do you think so? Now factor in how many will not live to 70 or 80 to collect "their" benefits and the economic picture becomes even rosier.
Whats your take on the hesitancy and stammering now emanating from the palace re the nobody gets a tax increase who makes 250 k or less? Do you believe that? Do you believe that the 100 or so new taxes being contemplated now to offset this ignorance of spending will not be enacted?
Do you think the Dem's will restrain themselves from a tax and spend mentality?
And at what point do you think-if ever -this administration will have to man up and take some responsibility for its actions. All this crybaby whining is so reminiscent of the Flip Wilson routine of the devil made me do it.
I remember the label teflon man applied to Reagan and it was true-but this guy now redefines the definition.

Folks, we are already way beyond 10% in unemployment. Starting back in the days of Clinton, they stopped counting "discouraged workers". They don't count being "underemployed". They don't count part-timers that really want to work full time. I'd say we're probably closer to 12% or more.
There are so many problems with our elected officials these days. They are mostly bought and paid for by large corporations (pharmaceuticals, health care, bankers, oil, agriculture...) that they are not acting on our behalves. I just wish that the third parties would start putting forth some candidates for congress and senate in my neck of the woods. We always get the same pap running every year here. I'm so sick of my two senators.
The fact is we need universal single payer health care. With all these people out of work, soon no one is going to be able to see a doctor. They'll all be going to emergency rooms for basic care that they've waited far too long for.
I really don't care to prop up the insurance industry any longer. If they don't make it illegal, I'm hoping to scrap my insurance next year. Hell, even if they make it mandatory, I'm not sure I want to continue this faux coverage.

My first thought about Palin's press conference was that it was a sloppy, misguided attempt to hit the road for 2012.
I have to agree with the sentiments in this blog that she's scared of something that's coming down the pike soon. Most likley a legal or ethics problem. The Sports Complex- house building issue makes sense.
That speech did confirm what I thought last election season, namely that Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to serve as VP. Hell, she couldn't even finish out her term as Governor!
Am I the only one that recognized where she ripped off that phrase about the dead fish going with the flow? She got that from Jim Hightower's book "Swim against the Current: Even a Dead Fish Can Go With the Flow".
One thing is for sure: Nobody with high political ambitions cuts and runs from a post like Governor unless they are desperately trying to get in fron of something damning.
After that rambling performance I'm pretty sure she's toast. But then again we have to consider that the conversation regarding her political life will involve the Republican Party and they are the "geniuses" that discovered her in the first place.

Comical how these wingnuts project about the national media not playing fairly with Palin.
Everyone remembers vividly how she "set up" the con by dragging her kids onto the stage for everyone to oogle - yes, even reporters. When they noted an obviously pregnant unwed teen in their midst, they inquired. Bam! Door to doing ANY and ALL interviews closed in their faces.
They tried their best to hide Palin's lack of innate intelligence, ability to articulate herself cogently, and having absolutely NO world view beyond "seeing Russia from her doorstep" but it didn't work.
Soft touch interview with Gibson and she blew it coming out of the starting gate (say it ain't so, Joe!).
Of course, Katie Couric tried one of those "gotcha questions" by asking her what she reads - huh? Are you kidding me? She was stumped because it's clear that she stopped learning long, long ago (which requires an ability to read).
So there you have it - she tried to hide from the media and trusted very few to interview her and even with the soft touches, bombed abysmally before the american people.
They tried to quarantine her pre-debate and inculcate her dense grey matter with facts and platforms - bong! Thanks for playing! She was winking and looking like a clueless airhead instead.
They could only do so much with the degree of talent they were given. Some pigs cannot be lipsticked regardless of how much we wish it to be so. If wishes were dollars, she'd be a millionairess by now.

This is about this country, about the future and what will be left of it for the next generation-for your children. All of us should unite to hold these snake oil salesmen known as politicians to task regardless of what party they are affiliated with.

I don't think anyone's mentioned that she may have been offered the choice between resigning and prosecution. In which case, she might have a glorious future as the next Great American Anita Bryant, or use the time to get brain implants for when she's asked to serve as Jeb's Ambassador to Russia.

You refuse to even get my handle right...your referring to me as "Blackhawk" instead of the BlueHawk that heads my every post....kinda makes my point.
Seems you decided what you're gonna call me irregardless of what I state that my handle is.
It's a fitting metaphor for trying to talk to right wingers...they've decided how or what someone feels about something, regardless of what they say or do to define their position themselves.
Isis's post 200 speaks for itself...no matter how you try to redefine it.

You're sounding more and more like a disillusioned Senate page as we go along Craig-for some obscure reason known only to you, you would have it that I am a Palinite or right winger or whatever term it is that you employ when at a s loss for words-read up, I believe I am an equal opportunity offender when it comes to verbally maligning politicians.
I wasn't aware that you are conjoined at the hip with any of them and that to you it is a personal matter.
We are all in this boat together-the differences always seem to break down upon party lines-that is foolish and incredibly narrow sighted, and I dare say counted upon. Kind of like the divide and conquer strategy.
This is the peoples country-we are guaranteed a representative government that serves-do you think with all the behind doors passage of legislation and deal making-or the bypassing of protocol, or the giving of a 1000 plus pages to read hours before a vote is taken is representative? Do you think Count Dodd in the darkness of night hastily scribbling in bonus clauses for thieves and liars with a pen that surely must have been dripping with taxpayer blood
was representative or service?
The "buck stops here" remember that? That means whoever is on the throne whether you like it or not.
I can't see how in four years a Republican would be able to be elected dog catcher much less president-and if the present course is maintained I can't see how the change meister will be able to be relected-that means that maybe for the first time an independent will have a viable chance at it-and that's what we should be hoping for-two hundred plus years of two party mediocrity is enough don't you think.

Now you've switched to all caps messages, being a grammar cop and baseless accusations about "ad hominem attacks".
As I said...Isis's post (200) speaks for itself, your redefining her words doesn't change what she meant...your baseless shrill accusations to me likewise are taken for what they are; a distraction from the topic at hand and prodding for sensitivities.
Just because we made nice a few posts back doesn't mean you can act in any manner you please and not expect to get called on your crap.
There is reasonable rational debate...and then there's acrimonious obfuscation. seems you've decided to resort to the latter. It's a typical right wing tactic.

Hey guys...sorry to start a food fight here but this is what I said and what I meant.
Child abuse comes in a myriad of forms not the least of which is dragging your children around on a campaign trail until all hours of the night. I thought I was quite explicit in my prior comparison of how candidates use their children and families as political pawns - something which Palin brought to a new height.
NOT ONCE did we ever see Obama parade his children around on the campaign trail because he meant what he said when he made them 'off limits'. In fact, we saw that quite clearly on the White House special recently when Gibson made a point of stating that there were not cameras allowed on his childen - even for this special.
What Jim is referring to is media clips of his children doing the normal things we all do - living a normal life (or as normal as one can be under such high security) which contributes to the sense that the Obamas are the epitome of great parents.
Palin pulled the oldest trick in politics however on day one when she attempted to create the illusion of superwoman (wife, supermom, AND Veep candidate) by parading and continuing to parade ad nauseum her cadres of kids to every whistlestop along the way. If that isn't capitalizing on your children by exposing them to the so-called "elite media" , I don't know what is!
Of course when the media wanted to get to know her little darlings a bit better, she recoiled as though she hadn't made the tacit invitation by parading them out there before us. We know that this was simply a devious little "ploy"so that she could demonize the media and decide to NOT give press conferences because she knew that she was sadly limited in her knowledge of the job she was seeking as well as having absolutely no world view. Her inability to cogently and coherently express herself has n't changed one iota as she rambled through her departure speech without anyone knowing what the hell she meant at all.
In any case, the point I wanted to make was that many women objected to the abusive practice of not only parading your minor children on stage at all hours of the night but to use them as obvious political tools as well.
Bluehawk: Thanks for atempting to educate Jim. I fear he's hopeless and, being male, is also clueless as to what real maternal instinct is all about.

Yes, if yer getting loaded for the holiday, please don't let this degenerate into a flat out insult-fest. Seems to me Isis was saying she thinks it's child abuse to expose your kids lives' for a campaign, drag them everywhere when they're supposed to be in school... that sort of thing.
It definitely shows a lack of regard for their well being. I don't think that can really be disputed by anyone who thinks about it for a moment or two.
Of course, scholarship doesn't seem to rank very high on the list of priorities in the Palin household, so they may not even have noticed.
Anyway, seems to me people are starting to get too eager to insult each other here, so maybe you could go have a shower, or kick back with some coffee, relax a little, before coming back to be snide or outraged over practically bubkes. Okay?
You can have whatever opinion you want, and you can express it, but just go easy on the drinking and driving each other crazy thing, okay?

"But Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein on Saturday warned legal action may be taken against bloggers and publications that reprint what he calls fraudulent claims."
"To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as 'fact' that Governor Palin resigned because she is 'under federal investigation' for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation," Van Flein said in a statement. "This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law."

"Child abuse" is a broad term. It doesn't always refer to sexual abuse or molestation or physical abuse. It can just plain mean bad parenting, a lack of regard for the kids' safety or well being. You are making a federal case out of something that was clear enough to start out with and has been clarified since.

I'm sure it was meant to slow the cadence, but it's almost certainly hot air meant to slow cadences, and I'm pretty sure that when the Palins consult their attorneys, their attorneys will tell them to get a life. There can't be any truth to it, but if there were, it's just proof she can dish it out but not take it. At least the bloggers are sticking to sources instead of just making shit up and screaming it on the stump all up and down the country. Did ya see what Ross Anderson said about me? It's truly a hell of a sacrifice to be a right-wing troll. I get that all the time from a ton of people. I got a job to do, ya know?
To be a right-wing troll/extremist, you have to keep your eyes, ears and brain GLUED to anti-Obama media outlets 24/7! Anti-Obama TV News networks, anti-obama radio talk show hosts, anti-obama blogs, anti-obama op/eds, anti-obama books, anti-obama demonstrations and then periodically make victimized comments about how the Liberal Media is unfair, biased and disrespectful to Sarah Palin. And if I don't, I get called unpatriotic by secessionists (thanks for the spell check, yo). It's tough when the people protesting David Letterman call your Mother a whore.
When I clicked on the "Work From Home" link on my favorite porn site, I never realized how much it would alter my life forever being a right-wing troll. I had to go to a tea party to protest Obama's out of control tax hikes and the guy just gave me the biggest tax cut I've seen in over 30 years. It's a good thing too because being a right-wing troll doesn't pay well. Where's the freakin stimulus package for us? I had a cop approach me at the tea party and ask me if I'm a tea-bagger. I said "sure am!". How was I to know? 3 days later, I'm a registered sex offender! I don't even like wearing hats.
My wife left me! My kids won't talk to me! They lie to all their friends and tell them I died on 9/11. My Mother put me up for adoption. I'm 42 years old! I tried to get health insurance and the representative said "it would easier to cover a terrorist". I'm not allowed in state parks or memorials because they're afraid I'll "shoot the place up". Good thing I don't need an abortion, eh? Forget about renting a Hertz truck to move a freakin couch across town. I promote the 2nd amendment and people ask me if they can read Obama's Gun Control legislation and I'm screwed! Hopefully my boss will create or come up with something that can pass for Obama's Gun Control Legislation so the freakin cops will stop calling me a "Beck-pirate" or "Rush-ranger" and tazing me. My dick hasn't worked in months not that right-wing trolls get laid much.

Jane,
It's sort of like putting up a blog post speculating on something that then goes viral. It doesn't matter if it is true, it just matters that it goes viral. Same with the lawsuit. It doesn't matter if they win, it matters that they bleed you dry.

Basement Dwellers!!!!! I am not on the Palin defenders 'side' if you will, but that is EFFIN FUNNY!!!!! So many people here, even when I agree with them on the framework of what they are talking about, I can't help but picture what losers they are. Basement dwellers sums it up in an easy, tight perfectly accurate little phrase. I myself speculated on the looming scandal(scroll up, it's there)....and it's starting to look like I might be wrong. When you're wrong you're wrong...but now the basement dwellers feel it is sufficient to jump from speculating on the alleged scandal to now mocking Palin's reaction to it. As much as I'd like it to, that just doesn't work for me.

I would assume that the Palins are not thinking about sueing--they ARE going to sue. I've never seen such a strongly worded attorney's statement in the press. And the mentioned Moore by name! If I were her, I'd get a lawyer pronto.
But she's not the only person who has to worry. In discovery, Palin's attorney will be able to find out who is financing her efforts, and who she is co-ordinating with.
It could get real ugly, and expensive.

Hey Gonz thanks for the link in COMMENT #339 -will state once again for the umpteenth time that I am not a Palin fan-that, just for the record as people here seem to have a hard time understanding it. It's just that I am fed up with conspiracy stories and the mindless piling on of the sycophants whose greatest argument revolves around words like wingnuts, right wingers and trolls.
The real contingency of trolls here is undeniably the so called "libs" -so called I say as they exhibit an almost total disrespect for the concept of free speech or differing opinion-students of the Constitution one and all no doubt.
So the Fed's say there is no investigation-heartbreak for the lib trolls I would imagine and in retrospect now I wonder do they feel the least embarrassed or chastised for the pack mentality they have exhibited here when they thought they smelled blood?
Shannyn and Brad must be experiencing the mother of all wedgies about now and fittingly so. Think between the two of them there is enough "journalistic" integrity to step up to the plate now?
Caribou Barbie, I laughed months ago when that was first floated but it has really become dated and lost it's cachet, sounding now only the incessant whining of children.
In step with the times I propose that Shannyn be referred to as Tundra Barbie and Brad be referred to as Jimmy Olsen.
And iceberg huh? Iceberg indeed-more like an ice cube or monster egg laid on this blog.
If I'm not mistaken Hannibal somebody or other on an understandably defunct series known as The A Team was in the habit of saying " I love it when a plan comes together", he would have hated how this one unraveled.
Watch now how the libs will concentrate their bashing on the resignation rather than the speculation-all done with a patriotic fervor-time for them to get over this obsessive compulsive behavior.

A simple premise that I would recommend to you as well as others. Not such a foreign concept is it in this land of the free and home of the brave?
Or perhaps it has become a foreign concept and would explain the herd mentality and vitriol on both sides.

That means Moore has just two choices:
(1) prove the allegations fast, or
(2) enter court and be found guilty of this lying bullshit.
No doubt she'll whine and try to weasel out and say "I was wrong," or "people lied to me" but it won't help. She wrote it as fact and will have to answer for it in court.
The result, if Palin sues, is a foregone conclusion. Moore - and others - will be ruined.

First off...Shannyn Moore has to prove nothing, she's not a prosecutor or policing agency. She's a journalist who claims Sarah Palin commited embezzlement, theft or whatever.
On grounds of case law, you refute yourself. Moore is a journalist. As such, she damn well CAN be sued for libel - in this case, for claiming that Palin is (a) corrupt and (b) under federal investigation for it. We now know (b) is false, so the only thing Moore et al can do to save their collective ass is IMMEDIATELY put up their info on (a), which - I need not remind you - Moore claims to have. That is the only thing that will keep her out of court.
So my question is, has the proof Moore claims she has in her possession already been published somewhere? I'm assuming not but want to make sure.
Secondly...if it went to court Shannyn Moore would be able to testify to WHAT SHE DOES KNOW; and I assure you that Sarah Palin doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to endure that.
You think Palin and her lawyers haven't already considered that? You think the statement they just put out is a bluff? No. Palin is tougher than people generally like to admit, and she does have the legal grounds to sue on this. Besides which - now that word of the possible/probable suit is out, the wisest thing Moore could do is, as I said, data-dump every shred of proof she claims she has on Palin. Which brings me right back to the #1 question in all this: what is the nature of Moore's proof, and has she made it public? If she hasn't she'd better do it FAST, before the suit is actually filed, or she's well and truly toast.

How do we KNOW Palin isn't under federal investigation. The Feds are in no way incumbent to disclose who they have under investigation.
I stated earlier about in Detroit where the Feds claimed no one in the city govt. was under investigation; right up until Federal indictments were handed down. The Feds saying they're not investigating Palin means absolutely nothing...hell they could be using docs and evidence that Ms. Moore provided.

You're seriously considering this too, and I appreciate it.
How do we KNOW Palin isn't under federal investigation.
If I'm assuming she's not, then you're assuming just as much by saying she is. One of us is wrong, and time will tell. If I'm wrong, I'll admit. I'm sure you'll do likewise.
hell they could be using docs and evidence that Ms. Moore provided.
Which is? Seriously - direct me to any links you like but all I've heard is that Moore is the point person for having solid "fact" proof that Palin is corrupt, thus guilty of breaking the law. Fine! Has she put out that proof yet? In fact, has she said anything in the past day, since word of this possible action came out? I don't know, steer me where I might.
Testimony under oath isn't to Palin's advantage.
That's pure speculation on your part, unless you yourself have been made party to the proof of corruption. Have you?
Palin is blustering about suing...I assure she aint gonna do it.
Still an assumption on your part. I believe they're not bluffing. They will do it UNLESS Moore pipes up really fast. Face it: she'll have to sooner or later anyway, either now when she might yet prove she didn't libel Palin but told the truth, or later in court where it'll be far, far more embarrassing for her.
Again, do you know if Moore has said anything today on this?

You mean you don't actually have any names? You mean you just pulled that claim out of your ass? No, if you're that lazy I'm not going to do your googling for you.
Tell you this, though:
I've listened to Limbaugh since the early '90s and I can guarantee you he has said openly that Foster's death was a very unlikely suicide. He also has made vague comments about it later. But Limbaugh has never once claimed the Clintons were in any way responsible for or connected to his death. Limbaugh is many things I don't like, but he is not foolish enough to do that.
Of course, if you care to google it yourself and post links to a soundbite proving he blamed Clinton for it, have at it. Until then, you got nothing.
But that's all beside the point. Palin IS accused PUBLICLY of corruption BY A JOURNALIST, which is actionable in court.
Moore will either prove it or she won't.

Last question first...I don't know Ms. Moore and I have no idea what she knows or doesn't know.
The fact is that Ms. Moore has to prove nothing. She has stated her case in her blog. You seem to be mistaken about Ms. Moore's role. Ms. Moore hasn't convicted Palin of anything. Ms. Moore as a journalist presented her evidence in her blogs...if those are wrong I'm SURE Ms. Moore invites Palin to sue....call it an educated guess but Sarah Palin doesn't want to answer Ms. Moore's allegations in court.
RE: Me saying- "Testimony under oath isn't to Sarah Palin's advantage"
I stand by that...Sarah Palin doesn't want to testify under oath by a skilled attorney. You can believe otherwise but it's really naive.
So in the long run...it doesn't matter if Palin is under investigation or not...Ms. Moore or no one else is privy to that information.
2nd- Ms. Palin can sue if she wants...She'll have to answer questions under oath; probing questions. I assure her lawyers highly advise against that.

Maybe not to you. Alaska case law says otherwise.
You seem to be mistaken about Ms. Moore's role. Ms. Moore hasn't convicted Palin of anything.
Ah-ah, careful, please don't put words in my mouth. I never said Moore "convicted" Palin of anything. Moore DID accuse Palin of corruption, which is perfectly actionable, like it or not. Moore will have to prove that claim or she'll lose.
Ms. Moore as a journalist presented her evidence in her blogs...if those are wrong I'm SURE Ms. Moore invites Palin to sue....call it an educated guess but Sarah Palin doesn't want to answer Ms. Moore's allegations in court.
I disagree. Three reasons:
If Palin is guilty of corruption and is under investigation (IOW, if Moore is telling the truth and can prove it), then
1. Palin no doubt has long since caught wind of the investigation, which most here seem to assume is why she resigned (despite the FBI's denials). In that casae, the smartest thing she could do is take a looooooong vacation with the kids, lay low, and just wait for the bricks to fall on her because, publicly, she's done. But she's not taking that path - she's apparently gearing up to do the exact opposite.
2. even if she's not under investigation, BUT IS CORRUPT, the stupidest thing they could possibly do is sue someone who claims to have proof of that very corruption.
3. Bluffing about suing, then not following through, can have just one result: Palin is forever marked by her followers as a loon, even though she clearly wants to continue her public career in some capacity.
For these reasons, I say this is not a bluff - Moore has really stepped in it and Palin's side knows it can prove it.
BTW: Do you know what Moore's blog is called? I googled it and it came here...thought it was this place but now seeing it's not. It's been nice here, but I gots to go now.
RE: Me saying- "Testimony under oath isn't to Sarah Palin's advantage"
I stand by that...Sarah Palin doesn't want to testify under oath by a skilled attorney. You can believe otherwise but it's really naive.
Again, just think about it a second. If Palin knows she's guilty of what Moore claims, suing Moore over those very allegations is beyond stupid. It's suicidal. Write Palin off as dumb as you want to - her lawyers and associates are not and would never let that happen. They'd be quite embarrassed too.

Comment 383...Heydo...
You're mistaken again ...
Moore doesn't have to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt. She's not a prosecuting attorney. She's a journalist who has documented her reasoning for accusing Ms. Palin of fraud, corruption or whatever.
That's all a journalist needs...
You're taking this way out into the cornfield...it's simple. Ms. Moore's blogs and writing are her evidence...she's laid out why she accused Palin of fraud.
Maybe you should read some of Ms. Moore's writing about Sarah Palin and her house...do some investigation on your own...it's all public record.
Then tell me what case Sarah Palin has...

Your claim that Shannon has "evidence" simply becuase she wrote it makes no sense whatsoever.

I find it interesting...that under threat of lawsuit Shannyn Moore hasn't retracted any statements she's made against Sarah Palin...
Shannyn Moore hasn't admitted any wrongdoing or offered any apologies...Ms. Moore's Palin story is still at the top of this page unchanged.
One would get the impression that Shannyn Moore would LOVE for Sarah Palin to sue and get Palin in open court under oath.

I think that we will see Moore making an effort to rise above her folksy "just a girl from Homer" affectation- I think it possible she wants to be the next pit bull from Alaska and do it using the proven strategy of Plain who went after then incumbent Frank Murkowski. Maybe vault herself into a job with a major network-her own syndicated talk show-and there are elections looming in 2010.
More power to her if she can pull it off-she's had a taste of the 15 minutes and i doubt she will be content now to reamin at a crystal radio set station or be confined to mere blogs.I had stated previously that I thought everyone should bookmark this forum and return in 30 days and either crow and strut as to the accuracy of their words or fess up-still sounds like a good idea to me--you up for that Bluehawk? Personally I think Palin tanked during the presidential campaign and the best course for her is just live her life and enjoy her family. I am not a Palin fan or supporter but I find it sadly representative of , and a telling chronicle of American mores that once there is a perception of blood in the water the trolls and sharks emerge in their by now predictable feeding frenzy.
The pettiness is overwhelming and indicative to me of the far greater problems that face this country and their origins in a population whose only attempt at "change" is to smugly glue themselves to their keyboard and hold forth in what they perceive as a unique and breathtaking release of gaseous elements they refer to as oratory, insight and political acuity.
When you look at Palin"s history you find a woman from a small town in Alaska that 99% of the lower 48 had never even heard of-she rose through the offices of city council and mayor to then take on and slay the incumbent giant who was Frank Murkowski- the stuff of novels.
Now we see emerge another unknown small town girl from a town the identical 99% have never heard of and whose only claim to fame is a position at a small town radio station and a presence on blog sites. And who like Palin is taking on an incumbent giant even though at the present Shannyn Moore is not seeking elective office.
Some may argue that neither Palin or Murkowsi were giants but I submit that at least on the local and senatorial level there is a qualification for that label with Murkowski when it is a relative nobody who attempts to assail their fortress. And the obvious epic amount of media coverage Plain has received qualifies her in my opinion as a giant as well in the same setting.
My hunch is that Shannyn Moore has her eye on the political arena also-regardless of the validity or lack of it in her accusations ,and is taking on her giant much the same as Palin did. She, like most would, who have seen the fifteen minutes will no doubt pursue more-perhaps a contract with one of the major networks-a nationally syndicated show ala Rush-or even the 2010 elections coming up.
This after all is America where stranger things have happened.
My guess? Keep your eye on this "small town girl" from Homer-Alaska's equivalent of Mayberry ,as I think she has big city aspirations and like Palin has no intention of being denied-perhaps another Alaskan pit bull.
However the saga of the girl from Wasilla plays out it is a sad study in self inflicted wounds, a rising to a level of incompetence and seriously lacking in humor. The trite justification of kicking someone when they down because they are a public figure and fair game speaks more to the character of the the abuser than the one abused.
There are real issues facing this country that need to be addressed-not this B level tabloid obsessive fascination with an also ran who will never hold any elected office again. Time to move on folks-maybe American idol or one of "reality' shows that seem to so enthrall the public and have about as much relevance.
Wisdom would be to step back, take a breath, and wait to see what eventuates in the week ahead-but then that's not really our style is it?

So now we've switched from...
"Shannyne Moore lied and is gonna get put in her place by Palin" ...to now it's...
"Obviously Shannyne Moore has her eye on bigger things maybe a network tv spot or political office"
It's hilarious...
Let's entertain the possiblity that Shannyne does get a big job on cable tv or runs for office...please explain to me what's the problem with that ?
Sarah Palin wasn't singled out for "persecution"; Palin left herself fully vulnerable to be exposed as a fraud by her own actions. Sarah Palin is a hypocrite of the first order and Shannyne Moore consistently reported about the fraud that is Sarah Palin.
Shannyne Moore smelled a rat in Sarah Palin and alerted the public to it...hell that's what America is about. A free press and open society. America generally knows what is bullsh-t and what has merit. Obviously you guys are conceding Shannyne Moore's reporting indeed has merit and now you want to modify that by saying Moore had ulterior motives...that's a chuckler.
I ask you what is ulterior about wanting to advance and better one's place in society ? If Shannyne Moore does land a tv gig or runs for and wins a political office it will be for a job well done...that's not ulterior...that's the American way.
Seems right wingers only want the American way to work when it benefits them...
Well the Constitution says "With Liberty and Justice for ALL".
Shannyne Moore used her Liberty to expose Sarah Palin and it would be Justice for her to advance in her career. She did a good, consistent job as a reporter.
Amazing...you righties only see things through the prism of your own desires. That's fascist.
Questioning Shannyne Moore's motives when you should be applauding her for exposing the con-job that Sarah Palin is.

I'm really beginning to have some compassion for you sparrowhawk-you obviously have a severe case of dyslexia or other perhaps serious comprehension impairment as so blatantly evidenced by your pathetic attempt to attribute this quote to me "Shannyne Moore lied and is gonna get put in her place by Palin". Numerically list this quote of mine just for the record.
You have dramatically shown time and again a desperation so profound to be "right" that you studiously avoid any direct question you don't have a "party" line response for and further have absolutely no hesitancy in fabricating and wrongfully attributing quotes to prop up your "position". Then you have the audacity to wrap yourself in the flag with quotes from the constitution "With Liberty and Justice for All" Yup, you're a real role model for every homogeneous wannabe patriot and self styled intellectual in this country.
Do you actually believe you are being taken seriously here-that anyone other than yourself is impressed with your verbal meanderings? Talk about delusional behavior and smug self importance.
I'm elated for you that in all the world you have found someone to fawn over, but at the same time somewhat sadden to know that there is anyone who thinks indisputable evidence is a blog.
If and when Shannyn Moore's claims are found to be substantive I will extend kudos to her for a job well done-much as I do now for Biden's candor is telling the truth about how the admin-"msijudged" the severity of the unemployment figures and the economic condition-which must have caused great angst among what I believe is commonly referred to as the libtards as it was an historical and epic moment for this admin to actually admit fallibility. Of course this confession will have no validity for you as it was announced live rather than on a blog. But hey-the devil made them do it right?
I know you have repeatedly and studiously avoided responding to my suggestion that all who have contributed to this forum return in 30 days to either proclaim their wisdom or admit their error but try to address that now will you? It requires the simplest of answers-yes or no-not another uncontrolled venting of excess gases.
I can only assume you are a resident of Alaska based on your obsessive interest in what is a state matter, whose effects really only will effect Alaskan residents. Are you in fact?
Or is it that you are some ombudsman of sanctity and correctness-some kind of thought and moral authority police like the religious zealots?
What a heavy burden you bear and without so much as White House or Shannyn Moore recognition- must be frustrating for you being an unsung hero.
Took a look at your girl's blog and couldn't help but notice how it is carefully crafted with qualifiers like "whispered rumors"-kind of takes the edge off of this defiant statements like "I won't be muzzled" wouldn't you say. Really amazed now at the gyrations of those based on whispered rumors-speaks well of "liberty and justice and for all."
Moore needs to bring it rather than continue this prolonged manipulation for media attention. Do you agree with she should reveal rather than allude to whispered rumors- or is that another direct question you will avoid?

"So now we've switched from"...your words, and since your reply is addressed to me any reasoning person would logically assume it is speaking to me both generically and in the third person-this is avoidance behavior as well as your complete and totally transparent skating re every direct question you are asked. Your words are here in black and white-do you honestly think others here are incapable of reading? What a disservice you do them-so I'll try it in caps as I'm willing to assume that maybe normal print is too difficult for you to read:
ARE YOU PROPOSING THAT "WHISPERED RUMORS" AS YOU'RE GIRL IS SO CAREFULLY EMPLOYING AS HER CHOICE OF WORDS IN HER ACCUSATIONS CONSTITUTE PROOF OR EVIDENCE?
FURTHER ARE YOU WILLING TO COMMIT TO THE 30 DAY RE VISIT I HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED YOU ABOUT?
Now being the astute legal eagle that you are
please try to avoid your usual mantra and mis direction and just answer the questions.
You must be so tentative in your position that you have locked yourself in this goose stepping recitation ad infintum. Man up here-if you are the believer you profess answer the two simple questions I've asked above-if in your estimation this search for the truth is endangered by that then at least you will have admitted what is already apparent to everybody and may actually garner something other than laughs.
Hilariously ridiculous that you direct people to Shannyn's blog as the impeachable source of "evidence" and once there all one finds is references to "whispered rumors." Talk about rambling and confusion-you weaken your own position by directing us there-but in your world of "Justice and Liberty yada yada ,I assume it suffices for you. Sad, sad indeed.
And you should break out your dictionary, if you have one, and look up the word perspective as you are certainly lacking it.

No I won't answer your questions...because you've made this personal.
I have however cited Supreme Court case law that supports Shannyne Moore(402). I can, if you require post the burden of proof Sarah Plain would need to win a libel case...aw hell I'll post now anyway.
To Prove Libel...
Step One -Show defamation. Prove that there was in fact defamatory language that shows badly on your morality or integrity or questions your credibility in your profession.
Step Two- Explain identification. Show that the libelous statements in question refer to you and show that at least one reader could identify you as the defamed person.
Step Three-Demonstrate publication. Prove the public received--generally that they read--the libelous statements.
Step Four-Prove fault. Show negligence or recklessness, if not intent to defame, on the part of the defendant.
Step Five-Establish falsity. Prove that the published statements were untrue. You only need to prove this in cases involving public concern.
Step Six-Confirm personal harm. Show the loss of reputation, emotional distress or money. If there was no personal harm done, and instead the published statements just caused annoyance, for example, there is no libel suit.
Any lawyer worth his salt will demonstrate to Sarah Palin that she has NO CASE...steps 4, 5 and 6 will do more harm to Sarah if she had to answer those in court.
Unstick yourself from your personal vendetta about me...your feelings are bruised.
Maybe the next time you post comments on a blog you'll be better prepared and informed. This isn't about left-right or my opinion vs yours son.
Perspective- a mental view or prospect.
Your perspective about this thread has shifted from Moore-Palin to me.
That's not a healthy outlook...I'm just some guy on the internet.

What an absolute and blatant cop out and ridiculous justification for not answering two simple questions-I made it personal-read up hawk and you will see that you initiated the whole thing-refrain from any more personalizations and I will as well. Do a few Google searches and read the opinions of your new Ag and then rethink your protected speech position-while you're doing that reference the patriot act and see what it has to say re free speech-take a look at the protections your Dem's trashed behind closed doors regarding privacy and speech re the blanket immunity they gave to parties such as telecommunications companies etc. to perpetuate the criminal policy of Bush.
New and a rookie? May be, but smart enough to see which way the wind blows and accept the obvious and call it what it is.
One last time-if Palin is guilty of crimes take her down-but this ain't some third world or dictatorial regime that convicts and imprisons on
the basis of rumor and unnamed sources. And thank God for that. Show the proof-not the whole hand-just a single ace will do.
What is sad about our exchanges is that it degenerated as it did-that is regrettable-but familiarity or longevity in blogging bestows neither special privileges or license to initiate unproductive verbiage and ad hominem insult. And if one initiates that then they should expect the same.
If there is a factual basis for these claims I will not only applaud you but Moore as well-what else would you have me or anyone do? And what standard will you hold yourself to?
If I felt you were being attacked without provocation on this site I would rise to your defense whether I agreed or not-it has nothing to do with you personally-I am sure you are good a person and your concerns expressed here are those of one that cares about his country-and I respect that.
Diversity of opinion and thought and the acceptance of that is, and must remain the bedrock of the national psyche- and it cannot be based on blind party affiliation, but rather the common good of the people.
Despite our near legendary disagreements here you have presented me with food for thought in certain areas and I am grateful for that.
I dropped out of school after the 7th grade to support my family- that coupled with the fact that I am indigenous lacked a voice that spoke to me of the American Dream. Our treatment is another issue, but there is something that resides in us that does like watching anyone kicked when they are down-much a less a woman or a child. If that is a fault then it is one I am proud of-I am well aware of palin's horrendous record regarding first nations policies in her state and her so called predator legislation re wolves- and is another reason why I haven't much use for her.
But all of this vindictive mean spirited display evidenced by a country that would have itself be viewed on the world stage as a human rights champion flies in the very face of that and serves no one.
People should be better than this-can't an opinion or disdain for someone be expressed devoid of crude jokes and unproven rumors?
Stay strong and be well Bluehawk.

Allegation of investigation for corruption, which I quote from the article above:
"Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources."
Step Two- Explain identification. Show that the libelous statements in question refer to you and show that at least one reader could identify you as the defamed person.
It's all about Palin.
Step Three-Demonstrate publication. Prove the public received--generally that they read--the libelous statements.
Publicized right her on this very blog.
Step Four-Prove fault. Show negligence or recklessness, if not intent to defame, on the part of the defendant.
"The BRAD BLOG has not been able to receive confirm from any federal sources on this. Our information comes from local Alaskans..."
Step Five-Establish falsity. Prove that the published statements were untrue. You only need to prove this in cases involving public concern.
FBI says reports of investigation are false.
Step Six-Confirm personal harm. Show the loss of reputation, emotional distress or money.
No doubt Palin will be able to document emotional distress over this, and possibly loss of reputation. But they already have 1-5 sewn up tight.
So long, BradBlog! Enjoy your coming impoverished oblivion.

Attacks on Governor Palin is just a symptom of left wingers attacking the USA by using such phony idiotic false-hoods like a proven false accusation to prevent us from using our own natural resources (oil) and electing a true Reagan Conservative to a national office.
Governor Palen has just been the focus of these idiots for her doing the right thing, not for doing anything illegal. Governor Palin has proved herself as being the one who was correct time and time again. Yet, these idiots continue these baseless attacks as a method to further their.... let just say the truth.... Was on Huffington where there is an Altar to Moore constructed by the Eloi ,and yes even an "I'm just a small town girl" reply site to light a candle and genuflect by offering words of encouragement and praise.
After numerous attempts to light one of these candles the moderator relented and allowed my question and statement(it was like running a DNC gauntlet)-it was as follows:
Talk about a controlled town hall meeting-I tried to post earlier saying Holy Cow small town girl you're famous- have any political aspirations? Asked also for a wee peek of at least one of the "evidence" cards you are holding so I can in good conscience join the mob-not the whole hand-just something to assure us it's not just "whispered" rumors and anonymous sources.
Wisely so the Repub's tried to protect Palin from the media and questions-is that what this about here? Come on libs-show your liberalism-just because the new admin is adopting and continuing some of the former Bush policies doesn't mean stifling access should be one of them. Where's the change so often mentioned? Maybe Helen Thomas should attempt a question here.
No reply as yet but then I never expected one-curious though-has anyone here heard of or seen any of the evidence being posted?
Quick aside here-see where the dems have voted down legislation to make the Fed open to audit--now's there's change we can all live with.

I've asked that question for almost a week now and, near as I can tell, the only publication of the anti-Palin proof they know of (because they keep telling people to read it) is some article from last year - which I assume still goes back to Moore and her band of "unidentified locals" and investigators who request to remain anonymous as the source. If you go there now, you will see the that the dozens (and dozens) of words that were ALL CAPS are now lower case.
Not all the grammar has been corrected though:
He boldly looked "North to the Future".
(as opposed to: He boldly looked "North to the Future."

Incidentally, when Governor Palin said (in her July 3 statement) that "Every one (sic) --- all 15 of the ethics complaints have been dismissed. We've won!" she is just wrong.
There have been nineteen complaints, and (arguably) she "lost" two of them, and some are still pending.
If you really want to see the scorecard, look here:
Sarah Palin and the Department of Law
I admit it is boring, but the pictures are fabulous--especially the ones of a young Sophia Loren.

If so far Palin has lost 2 of 19 - with the two losses being debatable - that's amounts to a whole lotta nothing so far, don't it, Bill?
That may change; maybe there is an investigation going on with the Alaska A.G. or whoever. But at the moment, it amounts to dick and it's not even worth you bringing up.

Today's polls say independents are abandoning the flagship-is the sleeping giant rousing?
If so why? I think much of the bashing by the Dems is beginning to appear as more "payback"
than thoughtful-a bully who has the majority upper hand. And that my friends has only so
much currency. Transparency promised is good in government, but seething overt malice and
hatred is not.
I had opined that this type of display could have a backlash-and I think it is beginning to
show. What there is about Palin is obvious-she can not govern-seems it would be better to
stick to fact rather than vitriol and rumor as is always the case. This type of thing plus
the cacophony of ineptitude emanating from the palace will not bode well by the time 2012
rolls around.
If you would call for "justice" re Palin do so in a reasoned manner and don't refrain from
doing likewise from your elected officials-who you in fact have placed yourself and your country on the line by electing. You will find it lends a greater credibility to your opinions.
I mention the Palin thing as a possible contributor-but there is much more than that and we all know it.

Close examination of the language of Mrs. Palin's speech clearly reveals her intention to swim upstream and spawn.
Of course those sports metaphors may indicate that she's signed with the WNBA.

Dude-she's all that and more-get out of that smoke filled room and grab some fresh air-then when your head clears read again-obviously you are of the party that waves the banner with an ass on it-that's okay doesn't mean you're one-its either that or the one with a living dinosaur on it. Not much of a choice is it? And the gist of what I posted.
If you think the present admin has excelled in some manner name it. You think there should or will be another "stimulus"? It's coming bubba-the spin doctors are already setting it up.The economic czar emeritus Buffet is already spreading the snakeoil.
You alright with that? Or how about health care reform that will criminalize those who don't have it-you liking that as well? I carry a Swiss army knife with maybe a 3 inch blade for work-you okay with making 80% of the people who carry a folding pocket knife in their pocket a criminal-that's already proposed. You liking that as well? You liking as well the many Bush policies that have been adopted and given new life by the present admin? Where's the change? And the biggest issue you can address is a washed up bit player? Dude, step away from the pipe.
