"Trust no one. If it can't be verified, it can't be used."
What an excellent and quotable quote from Ion Sancho! He has a way of reducing a point to its essentials and putting it across with great clarity.
Was this reported in a local paper or radio station? Thanks in advance for passing on any additional details I can reference.

Click the "Go, Ion Go!" link. It'll take you to the Daytona Beach News-Journal where the story was published yesterday. Was more cryptic than usual in post, had thought geniuses like you would have figured it out!

Caroline Kennedy gives out awards for outstanding courage in politics every year.
This was begun when her dad wrote Profiles in Courage in 1960 or so, I believe. I read Kennedy's book in high school & liked it.
She gave out 2 awards this year.
One to Murtha for speaking truth re the Iraq war. He said we are making no progress, the soldiers don't have proper protection & we need to leave to cut our loses, stay on "the perimeter", & let the Iraqis sort it out themselves in the civil war they have going.
The other award went to Mora, from the Pentagon, for speaking out re the evil of torture even before the prison scandal went public.
Too bad Ion Sancho can't get some award.
He deserves it.

The few. The proud. The REAL AMERICAN PATRIOT ELECTION OFFICIAL OF 2006.
O.T. PLEASE call your state House representative and let him know drilling in the prestine Arctic refuge will not lower gas prices and we must PROTECT this area. Vote planned for Wednesday which already PASSED the Republican controlled Senate. For more information on why this is another completely wrong-headed move by the Bush administration NOT COVERED BY THE MASS MEDIA, go to: www.nrdcactionfund.org

Good for Ion Sancho!!! It's about time someone spoke in no uncertain terms and a loud, emphatic voice to this Florida chapter of the Gang. May the truth disease from which he suffers be wildly contagious.

Sorta o.t....but this goes rather nicely (in a bushco, backwards kinda way!) with Murtha being honored, I thought:
US college students, professors turn back on Rice over Iraq...
BOSTON, United States (AFP) -
"Dozens of college students and professors stood and turned their backs to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, protesting the US military role in Iraq.
Boston College invited Rice to speak at its graduation ceremony and to confer on her an honorary degree. The stadium audience of about 20,000 gave her a standing ovation prior to the silent protests of as many as a hundred people.
As Rice received her honorary degree, 50 to 100 professors and students wearing white arm bands turned their backs. Then, protesters unfurled a large white banner that said, "BC honors lies and torture." It was taken away by a police officer.
"I think she's a war criminal," said James Hamilton, one of the graduating protesters wearing a white arm band, told AFP. "She lied and innocent people died as a result."
Before Rice arrived, a small airplane flew three times over the stadium where she was to appear, towing a banner that said: "Your war brings disgrace"...."

Catherine a - They say Einstein couldn't tie his shoes.
The national media will never cover Ion Sancho, Bruce Funk. They're not in the business of creating heroes!
They can only "put a face" on people who are having a personal tragedy in their lives, not when the nation is having a tragedy that could be helped by a true leader!
The phony leaders and media personalities of today don't want anybody showing them up, so they act like a father who jealously demeans his successful son.
Just look at the way McCain scolded the student who embarrased him this week. Shameful!

Here in Lee County FL our club had the election supervisor Sharon Harrington come 'speak' to the club about the electronic machines...the why, how and if she'd ever get paper trails. She came in and started off immediately slamming the media and bloggers saying we were making watermelons out of pits, then she proceeded to confidently let us know that since we didn't have Diebold here (we have ES&S Ivontronics) here we had nothing to worry about and we should ‘trust’ that all votes are backed up (3) times. When we asked without a paper verification how do we know ‘what vote’ is backed up, she said that we didn’t have verifications in prior voting systems so why should we expect so now. (Well, shame on us…they spend a fortune on machines and we should not expect integrity as it’s never existed? I’d trust a chad over a chip any day!) When we mentioned the fact that Harri Hurst did access voting equipment she started (nastily) stating and putting down Ion Sanchos because she says (Jeb's talking points) he gave them the software and access, like giving a thief keys to your house and safe….like thieves need keys now a days and like Harri was given Diebold’s proprietary software which no one gets from them. So she expects us to trust her, ES&S, Sequoia, Diebold and others, period or use the mail in ballots, which as explained by her have a high chance in Florida of being cancelled if every ‘T’ is not crossed and your signature changes one bit! (By the way Florida don’t prove citizenship when they register voters at all, but your signature better not change!) I let her know that I trust in God the rest of them including her should provide the receipts that voters can verify which are so intrinsic to voter confidence. She then stated she just was shown ES&S’s paper receipt and that is was no good that it would only confuse the recounts (like we can even do that in FL) because it records every vote and voter mind change….more BS to justify not getting them with more lies! Now Lee County is red, but as times change and they will she’s assuring that we cannot have a vote with integrity, proving she’s a trained shill for Jeb and the many fraudulent voting machine producers. I'm sick and we need to file state and national class action suits against the government for not allowing us to have voting with integrity!

Another PS on another topic, but still about a fraud....now Jeb is being considered for the NFL commissioner (and instead of retiring in June, the current commish will wait for him it sounds like)....don't it smell like brother's prep for prez time? Yes he won't run in 2008, he'll be Mr.Sports were everyone will think he's a swell guy then run after the democrats have beefed up the budget and fixed Jr's F**k ups then it's his turn to rape and rob our country and I bet he'll do it better.
Be warned world! Don't let it happen!

Ada (#16), virtually everything Sharon Harrington said to you is a lie. Maybe she is a liar, or maybe she is honest but shockingly ignorant and actually believes those lies. I don't have time to write a long message with links etc. so I'll just whip through and give you the truth in the same order as the sentences in your message. You can find the details yourself by searching.
An unverifiable election is not really an election. The end of real elections means the end of democracy, and only someone who is evil or ignorant would equate the end of democracy with a watermelon pit. ** Paperless machines from ES&S are also completely insecure: it's impossible to verify the votes, so it's impossible to have a real election. An insider could definitely tamper with ES&S machines, and a highly skilled outsider could probably do it too. Many more outsiders know how to tamper with Diebold machines, because Diebold accidentally published all their internal secrets on the Internet. Some people think that makes ES&S safer, but it really doesn't, because it only takes ONE knowledgeable person to do the tampering, and that person could even be an insider who doesn't need the stuff that was published on the Internet because he has his own copy. ** "All votes are backed up three times" is just a stupid thing to say. I can write something incorrect on a piece of paper, and then I can make three photocopies of it, and it will still be incorrect! Computers can easily make three copies of something that's incorrect. ** The prior voting systems in Florida (optical scan, punch card) DID have voter-verified paper ballots. You have to go way back, to the ancient "lever" voting machines, to find something that was unverifiable. And even those were "sort of" verifiable, because somebody could open them up and look at the gears. You can't do that with a computer, because you can't look at electrons. ** Ion Sancho did not give Harri Hursti any keys or any software. Hursti never even entered the room, and actually it was Diebold who gave the software to Hursti (and thousands of other people) by accidentally publishing it on the Internet. ES&S didn't give away their software on the Internet, but they obviously do give their software to their own programmers, and how are we supposed to be certain that every one of those programmers (including ex-employees) is completely honest and un-bribable? We don't even know their names! ** Mail in ballots are much better than paperless voting, but they are much worse than putting a ballot in a box with your own hand. ** Very good comment about God! But you should use the word "ballot" instead of "receipt," because the word "receipt" makes people think they should take it home with them instead of putting it in a ballot box. ** The ES&S paper thing, which she said would confuse the recount, is not the one you want anyway. You want the other one where each ballot is a normal full-size piece of paper. ** About your county being red: that makes sense for local elections, but for state and federal elections each county doesn't really have a "color" because all the votes from all the counties get mixed together evenly.
About her offer to let Hursti have a crack at her system: very interesting! Hursti is probably cautious about accepting an offer from a good election supervisor, because Bruce Funk got kicked out for doing his job and protecting his county's voters. But your supervisor is not really doing her job, and not protecting anyone, and it wouldn't really hurt anybody if she got fired. So maybe Hursti will do it! Contact blackboxvoting.org about it. Or, since you're in Florida, contact floridafairelections.org because they'll know more about your local situation.

Ada - very maddening comments from yet another officiating voting official ignoring real facts!
On Jeb:
I've been worried about religion in politics.
