More from Lying Dick…

Tonight at the V.P. debate…

CHENEY: Now, in my capacity as vice president, I am the president of Senate, the presiding officer. I’m up in the Senate most Tuesdays when they’re in session. The first time I ever met you was when you walked on the stage tonight.

Meanwhile, back again in Reality Land on February 1, 2001…

UPDATE: More pictures from Reality Land of Cheney and Edwards not meeting, along with an ABC News report on at least three acknowledged occasions when they did meet. Ugh. Those god-damned partisan facts again!

    Wow, once Big Time Dick meets someone they really hang out together. i just can’t imagine how C-Span got a camera in thelate night diner Mr. Cheney and Mr. Edwards went to after the debate. Oh wait, thats the national prayer breakfast. That happened well before last night. You mean bnig dick lied? Say it ain’t so. i am shocked. And awed. How many times has this guy told a completel lie only to be shown on video doing what he claims not to have done?

    He lied about doing business with Iraq;

    He lied about claims he made when they were read to him verbatim;

    and now this.

    Is there anything these guys wont lie about?

    Yup. He lied. Big shocker. He is quite the weasel.

    I only watched the first ½ hour or so of the debate last night (Cheney’s monotone and dull voice puts me to sleep). To be quite honest, I wasn’t too impressed with what I saw from Edwards. Especially consider he was a trial lawyer? Boy.

    In that ½ hour (I don’t know if things changed later), Edwards stumbled, fumbled, stuttered, and was just…. jumpy. He interrupted a lot (what we had criticized Bush for doing) and did I few things I didn’t like. Also, he mixed up Iran & Iraq a couple of times and I’m pretty sure he mixed up Iraq and Al Qaeda too.

    I’m not trying to be critical –these are just my observations of his composure. I agree that he looked rather nervous. I hope things went better afterwards.

    On the other hand, he was doing a good job of putting the pressure on Cheney , who by the way is as repetitive as George. “Wrong war, wrong time, wrong place”. Do they not realize how stupid they look when they keep bringing up things that have already been addressed?

    Cheney is truly disgusting. I’d rather have Edwards as President ANY day than Cheney. Cheney just gives me an evil vibe. More so than Bush….

    How does that picture prove anything?

    Especially if you acknowledge the universally accepted notion that "meeting" someone involves face-to-face contact and the exchange of some form of expression like a handshake and/or a "hello." This pictures shows the two men in close proximity to each other but in no way disproves Cheney’s statement last night. If it turns out the two have met at some point in the past then "yes", you’d have to say Cheney wasn’t telling the truth.

    They are in what appears to be a buffet line, not even looking at each other. That would be similar to taking a picture, showing two people in it and saying they’ve met before.

    Johanna – Nice observations. It shows me how well Cheney did actually. Lets face it, when it comes to this issue, you aren’t going to believe Cheney, so the "putting the pressure on Cheney" doesn’t matter too much because that opinion is based on a bias. I feel that Cheney did the same to Edwards, but again – a bias exists.

    I think we both agree on the composure of Edwards, especially being a trial lawyer. Cheney on the other hand, as usual, was calm and collected.

    I do however expect a full rebuttal to this comment from any random person just spewing regurgitated hate of Bush/Cheney.

    Troll, while I don’t necessarily *disagree* with you regarding Cheney being calm & collected, I’m not sure those are the words I’d use. The words vile, condescending and arrogant come to mind when I think of last night’s debate. That being said, I still think Edwards was lacking too and I’ve already used many adjectives to describe it.

    But regarding this picture, while you may be technically correct, Cheney’s comment was said to insinuate that Edwards had poor attendance in Senate – as in : Edwards and him had never been in the same room before. They are practically touching in this picture.

    If Cheney was just stating that they had never been formally introduced, he could have said, "The first time I ever exchanged words with you, was tonight". We know that’s not what he meant.

    Some form of greeting? like when John Edwards escorted Bob and Betty Dole on stage for her swearing in ceremony before the Senate? Of how about directing remarks to the man in your remarks at the pictured events?

    The further problem with Cheney’s remark is that when he does pop up at the Senate he hangs out almost exclusively with republicans. Though i know the democrats probably appreciate that he seems to be blaming his lack of sociality on Edwards. Fact is he was trying to be smarmy and he;s fallen on his face.

    Brad,

    i think during the debate he succeeded. However, since the debate and the proliferation of these stories he’s simply succeeded in looking like a Big Time Dick. Not that anyone ever thought he was a puppy cuddler.
