Counties are still making decisions on their voting systems of the future. Wayne Co Pennsylvania has opted for central-count optical scan machines provided by ES&S and AutoMark for accessibility. This decision was forced on the county when Advance Voting Solutions could not get their DRE system through testing and EAC certification. Meanwhile officials in Cuyahoga Co Ohio have decided to lease a central-count optical scan system, including 15 op-scan machines, from ES&S. There is no mention, yet, as to what the county will do for accessibility….

Brad,
Since 2000 you have been fighting your fight.
In 2000 that bastard Bush won despite your work.
In 2004 that bastard Bush won despite your work.
Right now everything is in disarray.
What have you really accomplished?
We are now back to the old days – the days paper ballots could be manipulated and destroyed.
You talk a lot.
But voting is no more secure than when you began.
Own up to your failures.
Stop acting like you are the guardian of the voting process.
Until you actually succeed in protecting each vote cast.
Apologize to your supporters for being impotent.
It’s not enough to broadcast what you see as problems without actually solving those problems.
New Hampshire anyone?
Jeff Barea said:
Actually, I did no work or particularly substantive reporting on our electoral system until after the 2004 election.
Aside from that, your comments and your blog, speak for themselves. As do mine.
Best of luck to ya, dear.
I know part of the reason why Brad keeps doing what he does.
So we all can hopefully put an end to the reign of power of the people who created unnecessary things like this, and perhaps even hold them accountable for their lies propaganda and crimes against humanity and the constitution.
Happy February 1st 2008 it’s another day of death and mayhem
On of the problems EI movement folk face is the myopic, incestuous, nepotismic, and “just us” ideology election officialdom is composed of all too often these daze in Amurka.
Like a tornado that cannot be satisfied, or a fire that will not stop til all is consumed, the realm of Amurkan election officialdom fosters an ever narrowing focus.
Like faux snooze hiring Karl Rove “to expand and open itself to new ideas”, the election officialdom realm just gets more and more dense.
There are times when all one can do is warn others of the dangers so they can try to get out of the way somehow, until a Debra Bowen election official appears upon the scene to clean house.
the coment from the right-wing hater not withstanding, what actually happened in NH? did the recount finish? thx.
Lucky #5
It depends on your point of view.
Kucinich protested that the state should recount on its own since the “recount” (actually was first count by human hands) showed substantial (more than 1%) variation in the one county that was “recounted”.
The SoS seemed to be utterly dismissive of Kucinich’s concerns, and it seems to have been left at that half-baked status.
The republican candidate still wants a recount and has paid for it up front. They are pressuring him to give it up but at this time he persists as far as I know.
Black box voting is watching it very closely and they have people on the ground in NH.
OT –
Politics makes strange bedfellows.
Ann Coulter says she will vote for Clinton if McCain is the republican nominee.
Still, nothing has changed. If anything it’s even worse. Millions and millions of dollars later.
Care to explain rather than evade?
Is it possible to hit on your archive? I don’t see where. I’m involved in a little discussion on another site about whether Patrick Fitzgerald was ever on a “firing list”. I remember Christian Slater had a post last spring debunking that story and making the WaPo retract it because they had only used one unattributable source for the story. Can you help me out? I’d like to put up the link. And sorry to be so off-topic.

There were “whispers” of Harriet Miers and some others talking about removing Fitzgerald…
Fitzgerald
naschkatze –
YOu can search BRAD BLOG up in the almost-top right box on every page. Just below that, there’s a link to the archives by year and month.
#9 naschkatze. Here’s one to get you started.

I should have searched Brad’s archive but had remembered seeing the video on TPM.
Thanks, Brad, will do. Since you answered, I’d like to thank you and the other bloggers here for covering the voting irregularities. This is the only site where I see it being done although I guess there is one called BlackBox too. Hopefully, you will get the ear of some Democrats before November rolls around.
Thanks to GWN at 12 too. I think that might be the story I’m looking for, but I’ll check the archive because somehow it sticks in my mind that Christian Slater wrote one too.
