“Compassionate Conservatism” at work.
Dallas Morning News reports today that there were 2000 confirmed allegations of kids in the Texas juvenile penal system who were beaten and molested by those who were supposed to be protecting them between Jan 2003 and Dec 2006.
The U.S. Justice Department knew about it and declined to prosecute. 2000 cases.
Notably, one of the sick and twisted “voter fraud” zealots at the U.S. DoJ, Bradley Schlozman, also finds his way into the middle of this story. As the Morning News, who spent three months on their investigation, reports on the ignored cases of rape, abuse, and manipulation of these kids:
…
“He sort of made that clear, and that had a sort of self-censoring effect on people,” Mr. Moskowitz said. “People got awards not for doing police cases but for doing [human] trafficking cases.”
The U.S. Attorney in San Antonio, Johnny Sutton, who received the case referral is “chairman of the U.S. attorney general’s advisory committee and a Bush family friend.” He declined to prosecute, on the grounds that no federal laws were broken by the detailed cases of sexual abuse in which “victims revealed that none sustained ‘bodily injury’…None of the victims claimed to have felt physical pain during the course of the sexual assaults which they described.”
The Bush Administration, and their DoJ, have similarly parsed the definition of “torture,” claiming that if there’s no permanent bodily injury, it couldn’t be “torture.”
No doubt “the president’s conservative religious base” is prouder than ever of their man.

This is not just an isolated case of the GOP seeming to be complicit in the sexual abuse and exploitation of youth. This is part of much larger pattern that includes other Bush family cronies, such as the former ambassador to Italy, Mel Sembler who established a Florida organization which purported to “help” troubled youth, but actually physically and sexually abused them. This pattern seems to be part of a larger, covert “black” operation of an intelligence variety.
so whats the big deal about’ta a little bit’ta putz in tookas among friends in the gop anyhow . . .
Watch the religious people remain silent about this.
“We vote Republican, because they are against abortion!”
They were taken for a ride on that one, too. The GOP controlled everything from 2000->2006, and didn’t ban abortion. Religious people are too STUPID to acknowledge this.
So, all the abortion issue is for the GOP, is an election issue never to be resolved…so they can run on it everytime, and get the religous vote.
I have an uncle who votes Republican strictly because of the abortion issue. They can be trafficking children, killing a million civilians in Iraq, pedofiles, DC Madam’s list, Mark Foley, etc…but because they “SAY” they’re against abortion (don’t actually STOP it), he’ll vote for them!
IDIOTS!
How much of the Republicans are people going to take? Does it matter if you’re a Republican voter, if American children weren’t being protected by ANOTHER political unqualified inept Bush-appointee???
“Tell us what to think, Rush & Sean! This can’t be true, can it? Will you talk about this on Monday, Rush & Sean? For us conservative (we ‘think’ we are) idiots?”
WHO will NOT speak out about this? Is it “OK”, because it’s a Bush appointee…if you’re a Republican voter or Rush Limbaugh fan?
They’ll look the other way and avoid talking about it, just like Scholzman looked the other way.
When is enough…enough? For ANYONE?
I’m still trying to comprehend that prosecuting people who were raping and beating children wouldn’t sit well with the “conservative religious base” and the “law-and-order segment of the Bush constituency”. And that’s before you even get to the human trafficking and forced abortions in the Northern Marianas Islands courtesy of the money Jack Abramoff spread around influential Republican circles. I guess forced abortion is bad in China but just fine if you bring those Asian women to a United States territory under false pretenses.

In the question lies the answer.
that’s disgusting.
according to wikipedia “In April 2007 he [schlozman] left the U.S. Attorney position to work at the Executive Office for United States Attorneys.”
someone with better skills than i should update wikipedia to include the above posted by brad.
Google Franklin conspiracy and coverup. There is a pattern with both Bushes of pedophillia and child abuse everywhere they go. Sey Hersch from the New Yorker says children are raped so the parents can hear their screams as a means of interrogation. The perverted nature of Abu Ghraib isn’t an accident.
Hey, they were only dem kids from New Orleans, so what is the big deal? 😉 It is Department of
JusticeJust Us policy for heavens sake.OT …
I heard that Mark Foley sang Tammy Wynette’s tune “Stand By Your Man” at a kerioki bar he and Schlozman were hanging out at. Jeffie G reportedly sang base.
it’s simple, Alberto Gonzales is probably a customer himself and likes things as they are.
As someone who attends an evangelical protestant church, I can tell you my fellow congregants were shocked by my claims related to the TYC. Once I provided the articles from the Austin papers though, their opinion of Gonzales plummeted like a stone.
They were ignorant here in Wisconsin of the 4 years of abuse overlooked by the Gonzales DOJ.
Not prosecuting clear crimes against children does NOT sit well with them, but the have to know of the crime first.
This story has been well bottled up in local Texas papers and has not broken out nationally. Once, they are aware of the Texas Youth Commission abuse, you will have no more vocal critics of Gonzales than evangelicals.
This normal for gop (Greedy Odd Perverts) so it’s not a crime unlike it would be for Dem’s.
Seems like bush family friends are all bad people . . .
