I fully support Clint Curtis.
He has made sound tactical decisions. He has sought a seat where the maximum corruption is concentrated, and he has sought to run as a democrat.
That is important because we only need to pick up enough seats to take the majority party status in the House.
We don't need to replace every democrat with an independent (which would not alter the power structure of congress under current laws that govern how congress works).
We only need to replace a few republicans with a few democrats to take over the majority party apparatus of the legal structure of congress.
And once the majority party status changes hands, the entire political structure of congress changes hands.
Changes from night to day.
Yes, when the democrats once again are the majority party in congress, Clint Curtis becomes a member of the majority vote in each and every committee in the House, and his party will have a majority on each and every committee in the House.
That is the way it is. You are either in supreme control or you are in supreme 'try to do a filibuster' mode.
That would not be the fault of Clint's party, that would be the fault of those who designed the rules of congress.
For all the wannabes that think 'try to do a filibuster' mode is the situation of choice, I have a bridge for sale ...
Anyway, go Clint! Bring down this republican dictatorial congress, which is a rubber stamp of the dictarorial white house, by bringing down one republican dictatorial thinker ... Feeney!

Heh. Democrats fully have the power to sustain a filibuster. They simply lack the balls.

Speaking of polygraph, FSTV/INN Report did something inventive. They put Bush through a voice polygraph as he was saying that Sadaam had WMD's, and he failed.
Watch for the primary to be hacked (not Clint vs. Feeney), and Clint's Dem opponent wins. Clint should run as an independent if this happens.
Go, Clint!!!

Is it just my impression, or does it seem like the sheep skin is sliding off the back of the wolf in politics these days?
It's just a shame there are so many dumb-ass voters out there that don't see the light of day, let alone the truth from BS.
Good luck to Clint Curtis. I've got a bumper sticker on the window of my pick up that reads: They won't stop lying until you stop believing!! I'd like to give us credit for all being smart, well informed and rational people. Truth is, there are a lot of very narrow minded, irrational voters out there.

Explain to me how a filibuster works in a congressional committee.
If you have the balls ... is that the criteria?

The Demos are scared shit-less,..
the Fascists Conservative Christian Republicans
got down and dirty to hijack this Democracy
and place it in single party control.
The Democrats heads are still spinning
from the wave of unethical behavior that washed
over Washington D.C.. Most Demos did not take
notice of this political coupe at the inception of its
planning and development.
It was like a tsunami of ruthless corruption and
fraudulent political maneuvering from depth of
hell,.... it snuck-up unnoticed.
The Dem's can not be so reluctant/gun shy
to fire/launch a missile across the bow of this
Republican Political Machine (ship of state) and
stop it dead in the water,.. or rock the boat. When
they are guilty of a major infraction of our
rules/codes/laws. They must be reminded they
took an oath to defend and protect the
very laws they habitually trample, shred,.. or
otherwise craftily circumvent.
Then and only then,.. will this disgusting regime
be over thrown. The captain of this ship must be
made to walk the plank,.. at high seas,.. with no
ability to swim back to shore. Then a new captain
can be installed at the helm of this ship of state to
chart a much different course.
Democrats are not blind, avaricious, selfish,
capitalistic bastards - as opposed to the
(Compassionate ?) (Conservative ?) (Christian ?)
Capitalistic Neo-Fascist - Republicans,.. these
realities can not remain a big secret. There is a
common good, a common interests, a
commonwealth - our friends on the right side of the
political isle have become devoid of those principals
of the social good. Unbridled human monetary
gluttony is not an asset,... or devine attribute,...
it is a curse !!!!!!!! Be gone you criminal,
fraudulent, selfish, self centered, un-god-ly
bastards,.. and give us back our Democracy,..
before it becomes tarnished or only a nearly
forgotten dull and distant memory.

Dredd,
Bills and nominations are passed through committee to the full floor for a vote. The minority party can then stall indefinitely through filibuster. This would have been very helpful in the past few years if the Democrats had the fortitude. Imagine if Gonzales wasn't AG and Rice wasn't SOS. As it is now, they are acting as hurdles to illegal wiretap investigations and a sensible solution to Iran.

You make an assumption for your premise "Bills and nominations are passed through committee to the full floor for a vote". Except when they don't.
What if the chairman of the committee does not want that bill to go thru, or what if the majority members of the committee vote to kill it and it does not get out of committee therefore?
It is nice to play pretend that all bills get out of committee, that anyone can do that, but that is only play pretend.
The chairs of the committees and the majority members run the committee. They, not the minority, decide what goes in and comes out.
That is why Abramoff dealt with the majority party ... he knew where the power was.
Government by filibuster is a myth. It is a faith based guess that is anemic per se.
You did not answer my question about how the filibuster works in a committee. So I will answer for you ... it doesn't.
The blame is owned by the majority party because they own the power.

"Committees:
Committees are panels of the House or Senate created to do the initial review of proposed legislation and to decide which measures are worthy of further consideration by the full House or Senate.
The committees are each assigned various issue categories to handle, known as jurisdiction.
The House and Senate each have about 20 permanent standing committees; they also have select committees and joint committees.
Every Representative in the House is assigned to work on an average of two committees; Senators are assigned to an average of four.
Members are expected to become specialists in the subject matter under their committee’s jurisdiction" (link here, emphasis added, another link).
Clint Curtis should be on all the committees that Feeney is now on if he is elected.
But Clint will only be in the majority if the dems pick up several seats.

This story illustrates how the chair of a congressional committee can control what happens on the committee (link here).
"In his March 12 article, Shane similarly noted that the committee has 'held no hearings ... and conducted no formal investigation' on the CIA's controversial practice of transferring suspected terrorists to countries where torture is common. But he ignored the fact that Democratic members of the committee have repeatedly called for such an investigation" (emphasis added).

Colorado is a very conservative state but is becoming more liberal. Ken Salazars brother, Joe Salazar, won an election against a man named I think Joe Wachner.
He was well known for his connections to a scam to buy water rights in the San Louis Valley. The voters remembered and thanks to some skilled reaching out by the Salazar brothers on rural issues, both were elected.
A very vulnerable congressman in this upcoming election is Marylin Musgrave(R). Her margins of victory against her opponent Stan Musankawa(D) have gone down with election. from 55% to 51%. there i s a sizable green vote, 4% in this district.
There is a new candidate unfortunately to challenge her by an italian last name. I don't know what to say about that.
But Musgrave is beatable. I wanted to bring that to your attention. It's important that people vote against her who can.

Perhaps some of the most corrupt Congressmen and Senators...should stop screeching about the radical left....latest polls show that the "radical left" is 65 to 70% of the American people, and they are extremely tired of being lied to by the corrupt right wing fringe...

Forgive my ignorance but I want this Feeney guy out so bad I can taste it. I thought he was from Central Florida (where I still have family) and Mr. Curtis said he lived in the Tallahassee area??? Do you not have to live in the district?
I still own one house and my children have two homes in that district...they are holding their breath. They are ready to stick CLINT CURTIS signs in their yard!!! One of my children works for NASA and he is the one who asked me about the rsidency....I had no clue. I called the Supervisor of Elections in Tallahassee, FL but they just bounced me around from person to person with no answer.

Feeney can make it to Scotland (the kilt parade was important for Central Florida) for a half priced vacation thanks to lobbyist Jack but Feeney can't seem to make time to show up for our healthcare. He missed this vote, guess he doesn't have to worry about his constituent provided healthcare, we take good care of him! This fall is the time we show him just how much we appreciated all his Friday night pay increases, his dismal voting record (when he does show up) and the distain he shows for the Supreme Court
Vote against any member of the House of Representatives that voted FOR HR 525- It is nothing more then the Health of insurance profits Act. DONT BE MISLED NEXT YEAR BY THIS PITIFUL PLOY
Read about what we could have had:
http://www.house.gov/app..._democrats/rel62605.html
On to the the massive mess of his time in office:
Measuring debt
--------------------
March 12, 2006
Well, just how much debt are we in actually and whom should we believe?
Being a mom and a business owner has meant being the most fiscally conservative person in most conversations that I find myself in. So in October, when President Bush announced that our deficit was $319 billion, I just about choked.
I downloaded the Financial Report of the United States Government 2005. In it, John W. Snow, in his message as the secretary of the Treasury states, "In comparison with the October budget report, the Financial Report presents the government's accrual-based net operating cost, which was $760 billion in 2005. There is a difference in the amounts reported for the budget deficit and the net operating cost because of the distinct methods of accounting used."
Why is our government using two sets of books, cash-based as the one the president used for his October press conference --- which doesn't account for long-term commitments to our citizens --- and the accrual method, the one the secretary of our Treasury uses?
It just doesn't seem honest to me. I hope the candidates running for our House seats this fall will post a link to this report on their Web sites. We must demand accountability.
