A Swiss Senator, Dick Marty, is heading up a European investigation into secret CIA flights that ‘rendered’ detainees to countries where they could be tortured. An interim report released today found that the allegations of CIA torture flights are true. More than 100 people are suspected to have been abducted by the CIA and flown to countries where torture took place.
Presenting the report to the Council of Europe, Senator Marty said “There is a great deal of coherent, convergent evidence pointing to the existence of a system of relocation or outsourcing of torture.”
While no irrefutable evidence of secret CIA prisons was presented in the interim report, Marty said that it is highly likely that the “black prisons” did exist. After the report was released, the EU’s top justice official called on authorities in all European countries to cooperate with the investigation.

I was blown away this mornig when the local NBC affiliate ran the following in the "Ticker tape" thingie at the bottom of the screen during their news report:
"no hard evidence of secret CIA prisons in Europe".
I could have sworn I saw just the opposite last night.
Talk about spinning it! Just enough info to lead you to believe it did not happen, yet the report in fact said:
"There is a great deal of coherent, convergent evidence pointing to the existence of a system of relocation or outsourcing of torture."

On Hardball with Chris Mathews last nite, a neoCon shill did a classic freudian slip and said:
"we have to seperate the facts from reality" (Ben Ginsburg)
They had been in a discussion of the concept of congressional corruption.
A moderate, still sane reporter from the Congressional Quarterly said "it’s a matter of what we call corruption" (Craig Crawford).
Crawford ends up being accurate, because behavior is not wrong unless there is a law against it.
What the neoCons want to do is, as you say "convince us up is down and blue is really the color pink in disguise" by "seperating the facts from reality".

It looks to me that Bush is not the only leader involved.
European security services must have known and co-operated.
How much they told their elected representatives is at present anyone’s guess.
But I suspect there is a lot more to come out.

Do you realize how pathetic you look? you are more worried about non-existant rights for islamists who want to kill you whether you go to church or not, believe in God or not, or voted for George Bush or not than you are of winning this war against an evil cancer.
I don’t give a damn in we have "secret prisons" in Europe or Utah or wherever. If some towelhead dirtbag suicide bomber is captured on the battlefield he should be interrogated and imprisoned. If you disagree, let them live in your neighborhood then.
