The administration seems to be in a "Hail Mary" mode, to use a football metaphor. Instead of trying to gradually regain the trust (?) of the American people through reasoned debate, they're attacking by questioning the motives of their critics, in effect throwing a 50-yard pass into triple coverage, hoping for a miracle.
