Sigh. What has a celebrity to do with sensitive political isues if not to increase his celebrity status? Why should I listen to a man who plays President of the United States on TELEVISION? The BOOB TUBE? What has he to offer?
Let's try to return to the seriousness of the matter. When Martin Sheen and members of Congress have a son or daughter serving in Iraq, then maybe I'll listen. I'll also enjoy watching the pigs fly.

Cyteria - I believe Martin Sheen has been active in progressive and peace issues for many years. The celebrity thing can be a diversion, I agree, but I think in this case the actor is truly committed to the cause of peace and justice and has demonstrated it throughout the years.

Oh, and by the way, I certainly hope and believe Mr. Sheen would by hook or crook *prevent* his child - if he had one of the right age - from participating in a criminal war - just as I would.

OK, a slight retraction. Thinking about it, I shouldn't impugn Martin Sheen's motives for speaking out. I really don't doubt he's sincere. It just bothers me that we judge not on the merits of the argument, but on the popularity or celebrity of the source.
We should eschew celebrities we way we should eschew members of a royal family. That, to me, is what America is about.

Why doesn't he make a 1 hour documentary to air in place of his TV show and talk about:
1. The 2000 stolen U.S. Presidential election in Florida.
2. The 2004 rigged U.S. President election in swing states of Fl, NM, NV, and OH.
3. How the U.S. doesn't have a federally uniform way for counting election votes.
4. How voting companies like Diebold which donated to the Bush/Cheney reelection counted our votes in secrecy using hacked electronic voting machines without a paper ballot to verify the votes.
5. How the majority of robots in CONGRESS are programed as Bushit administration right wingers with a corporate agenda.
6. Under the watch of the Bushit administration, over 400 environmental laws and standards have been reversed.
7. How the mainstream media is owned by corporations and run by the government to lie and confuse Americans about the truth of US and world politics. How fear has been used against the American people to enact such creations as pre-emptive 1st strike and the Patriot act against the American people to develope a police state.
8. The Downing Street minutes is about how Bush planned to attack Iraq and in fact repeatedly bombed the country before fixing the intelligence.
9. How Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rice, Gonzalez are lying murderers and must be impeached and jailed for crimes related to illegally attacking IRAQ.
10. How we the people need to reopen 911 to investigate the government involvement in the destruction of building #7 of the Twin Towers, the drone missile which actually hit the Pentagon. Questions such as to where is the security camera video footage showing the jumbo jet plane that slammed into the most protected building in the U.S. as well as many other unanswered questions.
11. How we Americans need to look at the Bravo nuclear weapon experiments that were held in the Marshall Islands in the 1940-50's to learn that escalating nuclear weapon force is completely the wrong move. How media stories and the White House are escalating the use of these weapons.

You can take the girl out of the Catholic Church. But you can't take the Catholic Church out of the girl.
I don't go to Mass anymore. I don't respect most leaders of the Catholic Church. But I respect Martin Sheen.
I missed the saying of rosary. But I just listened to the tape. Wow.
Thanks.

What are the Religious Wrong's take on Martin Sheen (Sheehan?) leading the Rosary??? The Religious Wrong is pretty silent about stopping the needless killing. But, Bush has them hoodwinked.
Ahh! The great dilemma! The Religious Wrong backs Bush, but the "anti-war liberals" are praying the rosary to stop the killing of hundreds of thousands! Who's side is the Religious Wrong on? Has anyone been asking them? Are they on the fake religious side of Bush, who is for killing hundreds of thousands, or on the side of the "anti-war liberals" who are praying the rosary to stop the killing? Does the media have the guts to call them on this hypocrisy, by interviewing leaders of the Religious Wrong? I suspect, the MSM will avoid this.

Does the Religious Wrong know Bush hoodwinked them? Will they have the guts to admit it? Which side is really the moral side? I think the Bush administration is on the side of lining Corporate America's military contractors, not God's side, like he's telling the Religious Wrong.
According to the American Free Press, our military budget is doubled since 2000, and it's over $400 Billion, with Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, & Boeing, & other war profiteers making obscene war profits.
Our military budget is MORE THAN 3X THE COMBINED TOTAL OF RUSSIA, CHINA, UNITED KINGDOM, JAPAN, FRANCE, GERMANY, SAUDI ARABIA, INDIA, ITALY, NORTH KOREA, IRAN & SYRIA! This is according to the Center for Arms Control and Non Proliferation.
But, God is on Bush's side.........forget about that...

I feel kind of silly defending Martin Sheen, as I agree that we should "eschew celebrities" *as* celebrities. I do, really.
I just happen to think Martin Sheen is the real deal. If I am not mistaken, he took part in many Vietnam protests before he was well known as an actor.
In addition, from here, for example : "Sheen has certainly put his money where his mouth is. In the past 20 years, he has been on the front line of a lot of obscure and seemingly quixotic causes. For example, in August, he helped finance a trip to Washington for three young children who survived a 1997 massacre of 45 indigenous peasants at a church in Chiapas, Mexico; he also covered their medical expenses. Last November, he got arrested at Fort Benning, Ga., along with hundreds of other people, at the latest in an annual series of protests seeking to close down the controversial School of the Americas, which opponents say has taught torture methods to Latin American military officers. He was there again last month. He's also been a staunch supporter of the United Farm Workers union, getting arrested in a 1997 protest at a strawberry field in Watsonville, Calif.
He's an equally strong critic of the nuclear arms race. "The top issue is connected to all the others, and that's the nuclear issue, nuclear weapons. Despite the fact that there's been a disintegration in the Soviet Union and a downsizing in the American arsenal, there are still plans for targets around the world," Sheen said. "We're no longer isolated. It is not a nationalistic issue anymore, it is a human issue, and all of us are involved. So my chief concern is the ongoing proliferation of weapons and the militarism that this country has opted for and [the extent to which it has] disregarded the poor and the marginal."
I asked Sheen if he thought his activism had lost him acting jobs in a town where institutional support for good causes usually ends with the signature line of a checkbook. "I hope so. I think anything of value has to cost you something. Otherwise, you have to question how valuable it is," he told me, adding: "But [while] there are probably any number of jobs that I was denied because of my activism, I'm equally certain that there are an equal number that I got because of my activism – people who were supportive, but never said anything except to hire me."

Same with the Democratic Stars.

According to AFP, Lockheed Martin 40% increase in net profits by June ($830 million), CEO Vance Coffman 2003 $25 million salary (retired & gets $87,000/year pension & $2.5 million the rest of his life). An army private in Iraq earns $19,600/year. Boeing profits rose 16% ($1.7 billion), Raytheon $10 billion profit 1st half 2005. Pentagon projects the total funding of the Defense Dept alone will reach $502 billion for the fiscal year 2011. Add in the Dept of Energy's nuclear weapons, the Pentagon budget for 2006 to 2011 will exceed $2.8 Trillion. This does not include taking into account the wars in Iraq And Afghanistan continuing through that period. They are being funded by "special supplementals" (financial packages that so far have amounted to $155 Billion).
I'm well informed because I read the American Free Press for my newspaper, and the internet for other news, rather than television news.

Why doesn't Actor Martin Sheen and friends talk about:
(1) The stolen 2000 election in Florida?
(2) The controversial 2004 election in 0-HIGH-0.
Hey, folks, keep encouraging him to do it! Maybe he'll do it at some point!
Meanwhile, if the rest of you still want to talk about these election hanky-pankies, by all means do so!
Keep asking the critical questions!!!!!!!!!!!!

Martin Sheen flunked his entrance exam for the University of Dayton. He is, without doubt, one of the nation's best role actors. It is quite telling to have him as spokesman for divisive, progressive causes.
Sheen recently expressed a wish to 'return' to education. It is hoped the Harvard establishment awards him a doctorate of letters to avoid further intellectual embarassment to Sheen.

Forgive off topic. This is the best site. I didn't know how much Martin Sheen had done for us. Just read on crooksandliars, Buchanan is calling for bush's impeachment for of all things immigration. He was against the Iraq war, however. With New Orleans being without adequate national guard, 70% cut of army corp of engineers to work on ways to prevent hurricane damage like what we have maybe things could be tipping. Bet there are a lot of angry repubs. in miss. etc. New Orleans and the other areas that have been so hard hit are national treasures which could be gone for repub. stupidity.

Sheen is old, but his sons are very cute and I would fuck em' in a minute. Or what I mean to say is, they could fuck me.
Do they like fat drag queens who smell like bacon?
