Senator John Kerry (D-MA) has written a letter, signed by nine other Senate Democrats, asking Senators Roberts (R-KA) and Rockefeller (D-WV) of the Senate Intelligence Committee to deliver their promised investigation on the political use (or misuse) of pre-war intelligence in light of a “new urgency” due to revelations in the Downing Street Documents. Roberts had promised that investigation would occur after the election, but so far, he hasn’t delivered a damn thing.
RAW STORY’s Larisa Alexandrovna, who has been one of the major driving forces in verifying and reporting on the Downing Street Documents in America, has an exclusive on the leaked letter from Kerry et al.

Hey, Mr. Kerry. I’m long past waiting for no answers, or non-answers, to letters. In fact, I’m long past impeachment. I’m waiting impatiently for arrest, charges without bail, and execution, or failing that life-long imprisonment. America is going fast down the sewer. Stymied by a stupid moron in the W.H.
So I guess Kerry thought a letter was better than speaking out on the Senate floor…
I’m with you Peggy – we need to get all the liberal blogs together on organizing protests. I’m afraid if we wait too long they’ll find a way to make blogging illegal and we’ll have lost our greatest chance to get something together. I’m so ready to get out there – well, soon as I get a gas mask and a pancho made of something that deflects tasers, I’ll be ready! (would aluminum foil work?)
I had forgotten about the tasers. Will remember now and do some research before my next protest. The nearby protests I have attended nave been monitored by plainclothes FBI? Since the protests were under 20 people and completely peaceful, no protection beyond freedom of speech was needed. Hope everyone else is treated as well in the future, but I don’t believe in the tooth fairy.
As for Kerry, maybe the Republicans were right all along. He has become weak under pressure. Too bad, more than half the country actually voted for him! At least a cautious weak leader would have been miles ahead of the current twink in charge.
I agree with Peggy. And just why are we supposed to trust Roberts & Rockefeller of the Whatever Committee? I’m long past trusting our old white men in their three-piece suits, too, whether they have a D or an R stuck to their name.
Damn nice of John to write a letter. Where’s he been, the Riviera?
I guess the hazard of using your correct e-mail address is that imbeciles can e-mail you directly. I am not sure where this clown picked up my name from, but I just wanted to show the typical debate of the right-winger running scared, and the response I sent back.
here it is…

Good grief. That one really needs to go back to school (or maybe should be committed?) A load of sheer nonsense, anyway.

There is a "major Presidential address" being scheduled for television on Iraq. I have a question: does the media still provide "The Democratic Response" like it used to? I somehow think this practice survived the Fairness Doctrine, but I have not watched tv in years. Anyway, wouldn’t it significant if a Conyers,Boxer or Dean were to use that 1 to 3 minutes to bluntly ask President Chimpy or Vice President Chumpy the questions of the day?
It is time to address the DSM. It is time to find bin Laden. It is time to find the anthrax mailer (remember that terrorist?) We don’t just need a timeline for Iraq. We need the Pres to show he has delivered on the the time and money he was given to do all the other things he promised.
It can be done in a minute’s time. It can be done if it is done bluntly and unavoidably on the MSM.
It’s just an effort to put Roberts on the spot. He won’t cooperate, of course, but at least it gives the Democrats another talking point…for whatever that’s worth.
Kerry might be hoping Roberts will embarrass himself as Sensenbrenner did.
News for John Kerry…
We’ve investitgated enough, Bush is guilty as hell…
If you’re going join the letter-writing game this far down the road… ya might as well demand impeachment… If this is all Kerry can come up with… he might as well have just added a signature to Conyer’s letter.
Skull & Bones produces some real quality politicians… retards for the right and pussies for the left.

The President addresses the nation tuesday night. Any guesses on what words puppermaster Rove will have come out of Bush’s mouth? How many times will "spreading freedom" be used? Get ready to puddle up with his hearfelt words portraying him as a christ-like liberator strolling through the mideast rooting out evil. Or could the groundswell of disgust with him finally be breaking him down and he will just come clean in front of the cameras? Hey, Bush has his fantasy world, I have mine…
Kerry is thinking about running in ’08. These people are so out of touch with america.

In tomorrow’s Sunday New York Times magazine (I get it a day early where I live) Michael Ignatieff compares Bush to Thomas Jefferson. He also claims that the neo-conservative goal of exporting freedom is rooted in the idealism of Eleanor Roosevelt and Adlai Stevenson after World War II, and contrary to the cautionary stances of Robert Taft and Dwight D. Eisenhower in the same years.
Ignatieff concludes that it’s too early to know if this experiment in liberty will succeed…presumably this pronouncement of uncertainty makes him appear, in his own mind, as an open-minded scholar.
Ignatieff claims the 2004 election results showed that Americans prefer idealism to pragmatism, though he acknowledges that support for Iraq has slipped since (ever hear of stolen elections, Mr. Ignatieff?). But nowhere in his lengthy article does he mention the avalanche of lies, half-truths and distortions advanced by Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld in order to sell the war to Congress and the American people. The notion that Eleanor Roosevelt and Adlai Stevenson would ever have tolerated such deceit is outrageous.
RLM (#28):
So, the shameless deception continues at the NYT?!
Here’s a brilliant article with a summary of articles from the New York Times regarding the Downing Street Memo (minutes) story — comparing the coverage to the British press.

It still shocks me somewhat that this is happening in America!
Escellent post, Stop_George #29! Thank you.
😳 excellent
Hi Kira,
Sorry I didn’t get back sooner. Conyersblog is installing a new system that requires registration in order to post. This will keep out some of the loonies who will eventually get blacklisted if they can’t control their racist/religious negative commentary. All others, even those from the right will be welcome to offer debate, as long as they remain respectful.
I find that as the right runs scared, their inability to refrain from attack is diminished. But I fear it will become a democrat only site. I hope we can find some good and reasonable opposition who will be able to remain. I love a good debate, and am always ready to learn, or scorn!

Too late! Once again Senator Kerry has arrived on the late train. Thanks to the great Congressman Conyers, and his petition, it’s already in the process. Senator Kerry America is over you! We needed you yesterday, not a year later. Just add you names to Congressman Conyers petition.

Obama doesn’t impress me. A rousing speech at the DNC is not enough. I’d like to see him get out in the forefront…be more provocative…at least update his blog site (last entry May12)…and not interactive. Nor did I care for his speech the night he won his election.
However, I’ll certainly keep an open mind.
Alan
Ketchup Mamma’s blue eyed boy is writing letters ……huh! so he can stand in the Democratic primaries in 2008. The guy didn’t have the balls to fight back and save his own elections (electionsmoking.blogspot.com) from getting stolen. What the fuck is he thinking that he can impeach Bush when he could not fight back from Bush and his goons that robbed his votes.
Kerry is history. Media should not waste the ink and paper (or gigabytes) to what John Kerry does.
Yes, I was really impressed with Obama at the Dem. Nat. Conv. BUT, ever since then he has surprisingly sounded just like another Republican. One more bites the dust! 🙁
