Finally, a video of a town hall that reflects the realities of the numbers --- a June 2009 NBC/Wall Street Journal poll revealing that 76% of all Americans support a "public option;" a Feb. 2009 New York Times/CBS News poll revealing that 59% of all Americans favored a national health care system; a Feb. 2009 Grove Insight Opinion Research poll finding that 60% of all Americans favor Medicare for All, the single-payer concept embodied in H.R. 676.
The chant "kick-him-out" came from so many and was made with such volume, it drown out the wing-nut chant, "we won't pay for murder" --- presumably public-funded abortions under the public option --- abortions that are not murder but, in fact, legal --- have been legal in this country since 1973.
You are probably right, Brad. It's unlikely that this event will be covered by MSM precisely because it debunks the myth that the insurance company-funded, wing-nut mobs reflect the views of more than a tiny fraction of the American people.

Frankly, I am sick and quite tired of having my right to hear the Town Hall Speakers infringed upon my the likes of these Un-American morons who scream and cause disturbances.
I think ALL of these idiots like randal terry should be shown to the street as soon as they are seen/heard making trouble at a Town Hall. Not only are they rude, they are safety violations 'waiting to happen'. Nobody doing this kind of rabble rousing should be allowed too close to a politician especially after all of the political assassinations accomplished by the right.
Good riddance top the likes of terry. I only hoped he liked the taste of street.

It is possible to reach the MIS-Informed... Not likely in this raucous atmosphere but it is possible even to persuade those with marginally open minds.
The nation saw the riot at Rep. Kathy Castor's TH meeting a couple weeks ago. Well myself and several others decided to venture down to an ANTI-Health Reform Rally this past Saturday. I think that the video speaks for itself.

Just stuck my nose in to see what Brad would have to say about the passing of Sen. Kennedy. Evidently he feels it's not worth mentioning. That wouldn't be so bad except I remember a few years ago when Richard Pryer died and Brad was falling all over himself giving acolades to the guy just because he made him laugh after he took a bong hit. Remember? It was the same day McGovern died, but Brad also thought that wasn't worth mentioning.
This, Brad, is why you're such a major tool.

HX, Terry was not a protestor. Protestors stand outside buildings and wave their signs and chant their slogans. I know. I've done it a few times. Terry was a disruptor. He was disrupting the right of people to freely hear their elected representatives in a forum that is designed for respectful dissent. That is democracy, I'm not sure what it is that you are thinking democracy is. He had no place in that forum, even if that forum had been 90% against healthcare reform he would have had no place there with his behavior. Pull your freakin' head out and get real.
I was disappointed that the "forcibly" ejected wasn't a bit more...um...forceful. I was hoping to see the audience ride him out like a bodysurfer, or for him to perhaps resist the ejection and get clubbed upside the head with a Maglight. But that's just me.
Notice in the video, about 6:25 as the camera is following Terry out, there's a guy holding up and shaking a sign that says "Leave my $ alone". He is holding it upside down.
Morans.

Several interesting facts about the health care legislation as currently proposed/advocated by the Obama administration (note:there are variations among the bills currently being marked up):
Elective abortion is not a procedure mandated under the health care reform or authorized for payment under the public option. Note: most private insurance plans do already pay for abortion. If you oppose abortion, you should oppose the private option. Abortion is more available from private insurers.
Payment for counseling by a medical doctor regarding an individual's written instructions for care in the event the individual is unable to make or voice instructions, that is, preparation of a "living will", was not part of the original Democratic bill submitted to Senate committee. An amendment was proposed by Republican Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia mandating that such counseling be payable under health insurance. The amendment was accepted by Democrats and made part of the draft bill. This was just one of the proposals by Republicans offered and accepted in a bipartisan approach to drafting the legislation. Subsequent to attacks by right wing wingnuts, including even some G.O.P. leaders, labelling the mandate as setting up government "death panels", the mandate has been removed from the draft bill. Isakson is a pretty decent guy, but even he is now afraid to stand up for his own proposal, and his colleagues have been notably silent about how the idea came up in the first place.
Isn't the truth interesting? Does anybody care anymore?

Whilst the US is the land of the free and people have a right to their views, they don't have a right to ram them down everyone's throats and disrupt peaceful society in the process!

For those who may not remember back to 2005 and my "falling all over [myself] giving acolades [sic]", to Richard Pryor, here are those "acolades".
Guess it depends on what the definition of "acolades [sic]" is.
It was the same day McGovern died, but Brad also thought that wasn't worth mentioning.
McGovern who? George McGovern? If so, Tropic's rumors of him dying on the same day as Richard Pryor have been greatly exaggerated. (McGovern is still alive.)
This, Brad, is why you're such a major tool.

Why don't they have Bush-era "freedom cages" out in the parking lot? You were allowed to protest in them against Bush...while he was speaking inside!
HX: people came there to hear their reps speak. This guy selfishly denies them this right. Do you think he has the right to take away hundreds of other peoples' rights? I'm sure you do!
HX: I'm sure, and there's NO DOUBT, that if this was a Town Hall meeting for something YOU were FOR...and an extreme minority of people were drowning out the speakers, you would NOT be saying the same thing. I'm sick of hypocrisy.

Yes, it was McCarthy. My bad.
Still, Brad, you did see fit to mention Pryer but not McCarthy, whcih suggests to me that a dead junkie is more important to you than a noted progressive leader. Also, and I'm quite sure of this, there was some text along with that photo of Pryer that you have edidted out. True?
What's wrong with referring to Obama as BHO, especially before he was president and everyone knew exactly to whom I was referring. It was not meant as disrespect, just brevity. Still nice to see you defend BHO, who is most certainly NOT a progressive, in fact he's not really a liberal. So good luck with that.
Brad, why is this blog even still open? Wasn't it originally devoted to election fraud. Now that you're so happy with BHO you certainly aren't going to question that election. So what Brad, this site is just for your own self promotion?

I'll answer Tropics on why this site is still open. Because:
Election fraud has not been addressed in any meaningful way and is still a threat to our democracy.
The BradBlog is my leading source for following the efforts by Sibel Edmonds to get her story out. She, and many like her, need a voice. Sadly, few other blogs and none of the MSM will touch this story.
The Green Report informs us about developments in climate change, energy reform and technology to address global warming and pollution from old, outdated sources of energy. It is brief, cutting edge and an easy read.
For this, I contribute some bucks to this site every month through the PayPal deduction subscription. I urge others who value what Brad and his team are doing to cough up some bucks, also. As I keep hearing, "Freedom isn't free".
Thanks for sticking your neck out, Brad.

Tropics500 continues to make a boob of himself with:
Brad, you did see fit to mention Pryer [sic] but not McCarthy, whcih suggests to me that a dead junkie is more important to you than a noted progressive leader.
For a start, while I "appreciate" your thoughts on the editorial judgement of my blog, I neither had any personal connection to McCarthy (one of several points of note when considering who is featured in an "In Memoriam" here), nor even recall that he had passed. Sorry about that, chief.
Also, and I'm quite sure of this, there was some text along with that photo of Pryer that you have edidted out. True?
False. We don't remove or change text without a notice of same. So I'm quite sure you're "quite sure" of many things which have no connection to Reality. But we'll be looking forward to your joining us back here in Reality Land whenever you like.
What's wrong with referring to Obama as BHO, especially before he was president and everyone knew exactly to whom I was referring. It was not meant as disrespect, just brevity.
Right. Ever heard of "a tell"? You're full of 'em, amigo. But as I said, we'll be waiting for ya back here in Reality Land if you decide to come and visit. Or you can just keep trying to fool all of those wascally libs over at The BRAD BLOG. Good luck with that.
Still nice to see you defend BHO, who is most certainly NOT a progressive, in fact he's not really a liberal. So good luck with that.
See points above re: Reality Land and/or take your disinformed wingnut talking points elsewhere and/or read The BRAD BLOG a bit more often to educate yourself.
Brad, why is this blog even still open? Wasn't it originally devoted to election fraud.
Nope.
Now that you're so happy with BHO you certainly aren't going to question that election.
Don't visit much here do ya, champ? Figured at least one of your comments posted might have a realitionship with Reality (I was wrong.)
BTW Brad, why haven't you posted a memoriam to Senator Kennedy? Too liberal for ya?
For one reason, today's Green News Report is dedicated to him. For another, I tend to post "In Memoriams", in general, when it's a) someone I have a personal relationship w/ in some way and/or b) when I happen to be "on the job" at the time of his/her passing and am able to break the news a bit and/or c) I have something to add to the already existing coverage of same. As the news of Kennedy's passing came around midnight PT, and I was already asleep at that point (having had just 3 hours of sleep the night before while trying to get out the Sibel Edmonds deposition videos), it was rather old news by the time I was back "on the job", I had no particular personal relationship with Kennedy, nor anything above and beyond what was already out there to add to the coverage (other than what we did today in today's Green News Report, largely uncovered by others).
You're welcome for the explanation of how *my* blog works. Hope you'll see fit to get your own some day so you can run it properly, unlike this one, and hope you'll have the courage to put your actual name behind your work, just as I do, rather than take cowardly (and wholly inaccurate) shots from behind a phony pseudonym.
Best of luck to ya, and give my best to the Mad Hatter should he run by, boss.

It doesn't. But the "BHO" and "Barry" stuff does. Also the "blew it on the bailout money" stuff, unless you wish to offer specifics to back that up (I don't necessarily disagree with the point, btw, and certainly none of the other stuff u mentioned in that graf, but I suspect your support for your "bailout money" allegation, if you have any, will be quite instructive).

Why is it so difficult for the people who say they support the GOP to understand they're the party of terrorists?
From the Klan to Contra death squads to Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph, America's right wing has a long association with terrorism.
Homeland Security was well justified in issuing that report on domestic terrorism that caused so much whining on Fox. These people need to be watched closely and that's a fact.
You right wingers prove once again the propensity the forces of darkness have to say anything; believe anything. The Nazis were not liberal. Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were liberal. The Nazis were not socialists - at least none they left alive after the early 30s. There is a difference between true socialism for the people and corporate socialism of which we have a much more contemporary example close-at-hand.
As for terrorism: Tim McVeigh was a right-wing terrorist; abortion clinic bombers and doctor shooters are right-wing terrorists; the Taliban are right-wing terrorists. Yes. You *are* a right wing terrorist.
The comment "You *are* a right wing terrorist" to refer to this man Herger. The DHS warning - which they backed away from following blistering criticism from the American right wingers - was actually quite correct as proven by the subsequent gun rampage in the Washington D.C. holocaust museum.
It's all the other supportive jeering hoots of agreement that is of concern. And Herger's self-satisfied chuckles of glee. There were many upstanding comments about self-sufficiency, then the guy dropped the terrorist word. I think McCain would have called him on that; Herger doesn't have the character, apparently.
However, perhaps this is a good opportunity to reframe the conservative/liberal argument. The illusion that it's every man for himself. It just isn't. It wasn't for the early settlers, who were financed and provisioned by trading companies, and the valuable trading goods (furs) coming from trade with the Indians.
Look around and see all that has been created for us from representative government (city, county, state, and federal). Imagine if you and your family had to build a path or road wherever you wanted to travel. This world has inherited so much from the past, the collective efforts of scientific research, protection of wild areas, collaborative fire and police protection, education for all. Does the speaker's parents collect social security and take advantage of Medicare? Where do we all contribute to the public good? What are the boundaries? And I wonder if the speaker's church performs Handel's "Messiah"? Perhaps he'd like to write his own version. They get that for free, and think nothing of it.

News flash: Randall Terry has virtually no following left. And he left the GOP a long time ago. His last "hurrah" was when he plugged himself into the Terri Schiavo incident. When Terri's parents made him their chief spokesman, that doomed their chances for getting major support.
Face the facts, people. A handful of these meetings have disintegrated into shouting matches, but most of them allowed people to vent their feelings about Obamacare (except, of course, for useless reps like Earl Blumenauer, who literally phoned it in).
Actually, if Randall Terry had shown up at one of my town hall meetings, I would have screamed at him that he is a hate-mongering pile of dog crap, and that I bet his ex-wife feels the same way.

People need to say why a real universal national health care plan is best in short quick statements.
Here are some I wrote:
Vivzizi! Private health insurance companies are pirates stealing the profits and hiring freedoms from all other american businesses and its time to stop them.
You pay less taxes with private healthcare insurance because you die younger.
Why are private insurers scared to let you have a public health choice?
Call your health insurer today. Ask for their death panel's "excluded care" judgements list.
The majority of doctors now support national health care. Don't let the Republicans get between you and your doctor's advice.
The Republicans want to take away your Medicare then take away free roads.
Support a baby's right to continued life. Support National Health Insurance.
"A baby's right to live shouldn't stop at birth!"
The founding fathers put continued life as the first inalienable right in the Declaration of Independence.
If private health care is so good why aren't Health Insurance executives under the same policies?

'We hate the United States': Secessionists rally in Texas (Get the Fvck out then!)
or some folks in Texas, the prospect of a universal health care scheme isn't just cause for protest and debate --- it's reason enough to secede from the United States altogether.
Some 200 people rallied at the State Capitol in Austin on Saturday, a small but vocal crowd that set itself in opposition to pro-health care reform protesters.
Larry Kilgore, a Christian activist that the Texas Observer says has advocated execution for homosexuals, "drew some murmurs of disapproval" when he told the crowd: “I hate that flag up there. ... I hate the United States government. … They’re an evil, corrupt government. They need to go. Sovereignty is not good enough. Secession is what we need!”

In tonight's installment of Countdown's "WTF Moment," Olbermann takes a realistic look at what would happen if Texas actually followed through on Governor Rick Perry's threat to secede if the federal government doesn't leave Texas alone. Well, between skyrocketing taxes, loss of military protection, sports teams crumbling, massive debt burdens, and the coming political crisis in 2020 (when the projected population of Texas will be 45 percent Hispanic and 38 percent Anglo, and the Hispanics win a ballot initiative to have the new republic join Mexico), the picture doesn't look good.
