Don't want to derail the thread, perhaps a more recent 'open thread' would help?
Phil's post made me look at that site, which was something I was unaware of. A great idea.
This was one of my favorites from the pre-existing 'leaders' on that site.
We are NOT the United States of Corporations!

The supreme council known to us as Supreme Court judges are there to interpret the document known as the US constitution and the principles embedded within it.
As a group, scouts is bound not to please every one all time, in fact because of the secrecy surrounding the health of some of its members, we will never know when a particular judge is working under the influence of medication, be it prescribed or in dangerous combinations that cause hallucinations. It’s my heart felt belief that scouts made a monumentally catastrophic decision in the last century under the influence of some type of pharmacological influence. That decision made last century has let to so much grief, influence peddling, the likes no even the fabled corrupt Roman senate would believe.
What SCOTUS did, was ruled that corporations have the same rights as citizens under the constitution, that is to petition the government to redress a grievance. Up until that moment there were a maybe a couple of thousand civic minded lobbyists who were paid for by civic minded organizations who only had grass roots issues in mind.
Fast forward a few decades because of that single decision the number of registered lobbyist approach millions when you count local state and federal lobbyist. What’s their job? To `wine & dine` the city councils and law makers. To procure `favors for friends` of the lawmakers and government officials. If they do their job right they can get a law or regulation introduced and passed that would favor a corporation.
That one decision that corporations have same right as citizens to redress grievances, has let to the following; A giant military industrial complex that is out off control, i.e. Black Water USA, is but one example. How about those tens of thousands of lobbyists for the pharmaceutical industry, what did they lead to? How about those little pills that help you go to sleep, but people who take those pills are warned that it could lead to sleepwalking & driving. Some people have been found sleep driving, or eating dog food sandwiches. I tell you it’s only a matter of time before someone blames the murder of a spouse on that stupid little pill that relives an annoying quirk of sleeplessness.
Let’s not mention the other pills that have horrendous side effects such as DEATH in some cases, how did such a medicine get approved by the FDA, lobbyists. The tobacco, gasoline, pharmaceutical and military corporations spend billions per year on lobbyists pushing for regulations or laws that would benefit them and dam the citizens. Did you know that prison owners have their own lobbysts? What harm are they doing? They help pass more and more laws so that they can have more `clients` so to speak.
While SCOTUS sometimes can and will get it just right, when they get it wrong, their bungled under the influence decisions can have spectacularly disastrous consequences, such as the Santa Clara County V. Southern Pac. R. Co, 118 U.S. 394 decision, where a single judge under the influence of who know what happy drug, or Money, first ruled in favor of corporations. A single judge, one man, one constitutional imbecile, caused all this mess. Go to www.ratical.org/corporations/SCvSPR1886.html for more information.
Who can forget the time they annexed the right to imminent domain clause, where the local government took away your land to give it to a corporation. What funny pills were they taking that time? Don’t even get me started on Gore VS Bush. Why even the Gulf war and this war in Iraq can be traced to secret meetings on energy policy between lobbyists and high level government officials. In fact all manner of government graft and scandals can be traced back to the Santa Clara County V. Southern Pac. R. Co decision.
What’s a person to do do? How do we fix that gargantuan failure by SCOTUS?
You sue, file a lawsuit using the same argument corporations used. Corporations should sue for the right to vote since SCOTUS ruled they are like citizens, and like citizens they should also have the right to vote. Now that would be a fun case to observe. I would love to see SCOTUS get out of that one. Of course such a case would have to be filed at the local county level.
As mentioned before the health of the individual SCOTUS members, should be of paramount interest to the American public. We as citizens don’t want those judges making those important decisions under the influence of some pills that cause hallucinations of grandeur, or thoughts of suicide as a side effect. The health of judges should be made public, what medicines they are taking should also be know.
To ignore such an issue imperils the nation as whole and the generations that follow.

disillusioned , thanks.
We need a hell of a lot more points than 240.
This is exactly what bugs me about the EI situation. It's like everyones off doing something else. And the one chance to get something going nobody is paying attention.
COME ON PEOPLE THIS IS FROM MY HEART TO YOU TO PROTECT MY COUNTRY!!!
