NPR’s Morning Edition ran a 2006 election story today centered around a poll of rural voters in “41 heavily contested congressional districts” which has shown a “dramatic shift” in favor of Democrats in the last month.
The poll was conducted for the non-partisan Center for Rural Strategies, a Kentucky group working to attract attention to rural issues.
Five hundred likely rural voters were surveyed in 41 heavily contested congressional districts and six states with close Senate races. Most of the House districts surveyed have Republican incumbents. Fifty-two per cent of the respondents indicate they’ll vote for Democratic congressional candidates; 39 percent say they’ll support Republicans.
This is a dramatic shift from a similar poll conducted last month. At that time, the rural voters polled split the congressional vote evenly.
“This is not encouraging information for Republicans,” says Bill Greener, the Republican political consultant who supervised and analyzed the bipartisan poll. “And I think that to pretend otherwise is not helpful.”
The bad news is that Karl Rove told NPR a couple of days ago that he doesn’t believe the polls and is confident that Republicans will hold on to the House and the Senate. Over the last three election cycles Rove has proven himself a far better gauge of elections than just about any poll. It’s uncanny.

Hmmmmm Karl the psychic ? Nah Karl never takes chances. Diebold has not been thrown out yet so Karl still has a inside as to how the voting will be turned.
Maybe this time, the fraud will be so flagrant the Democrats will bring in the lawyers. We can only hope.
Elizabeth Edwards commented that she and John wanted a recount in Ohio after 2004 because of the numerous irregularities. If Kerry had $8 million in his war chest, wonder why a recount wasn’t demanded?
It could be that Kerry was betrayed by his own advisors:
Did Carville and McCurry Sell Kerry Out?

It’s looking like Democrats are winning the day all across America and Republicans are squirming like crazy, running negative ads and praying their rigged elections pay off.
Dems need to focus on Maryland, NC, VA, TN, MO, AR and TEXAS.
We can push this fight all the way to Crawford.
Best of all, we can do it by promising to restore morality to the Capitol so people can have pride in their government.
We don’t need so much negative campaigning just now. Dropping the more nasty ads could actually help us win over more rural voters. It would certainly offend my sense of dignity less if Dems weren’t so scared they felt they had to run negative ads for a while.
Democratic Talk Radio has always been aimedat reaching rural voters. Our goal and mission is to inform rural voters that the Republicans have been using and abusing them while serving the Corporate masters of Bush Republicanism
The Bush Republicans are enemies of honest, clean elections. Smear and fear along with vote fraud and massive amounts of money are the main weapons of this Republican cabal. Information is the best weapon for reformists and Democrats.
“I’m allowed to see the polls on the individual races.” says Rove.
And what he sees says that Pubs win.
What polls do y’all think those are? The RIGGED polls???
I imagine those are the only polls breaking KKKarl’s way…
Come on all y’all patriotic hackers! Get busy!

Alan B., that inuedo was mean. Really, really mean. And probably correct. I love you, man!

The Republicans need not worry. The polls don’t matter and more.
The Diebold, ES&S or Sequoia voting machines will show a suddden change back to the Republican Party…. and most registars won’t bother to check the paper backup
I spent the day looking into Smartmatic (Sequoia) – the voting machine company linked to chavez. well here is some news that has utterly confused me. It takes a lot of money and technology to steal an American election – but the apparatus is in place – due to multiple fundings by these 3 venture firms:
Schroder Ventures, Permia Capital and The Carlyle Group. It makes no sense that Chavez would be working alongside Carlyle (the investment arm of the White House) unless one of 2 scenerios is accurate:
(1) Chavez and Bush Jr really don’t hate each other
(2) Bush Senior has bought an insurance policy to mute his son
