When I'm finally nominated to take O'Connor's position on the Supreme Court (see www.hairytruth.blogspot.com for details), this situation will be rectified - I can assure you.

Very nice, very nice, but that article's reference to "security problems" is lame understatement, a pulled punch if I ever saw one. How about "a deliberately implemented back door to facilitate easy remote hacking and undetectable election theft" ?
Seriously though, what is going on at Diebold? How can any of this make a dent in them? There must be more going on that we are not finding out about. Could certain powers be applying some sort of pressure to shareholders or potential Diebold clients under the table...? Certain DEMOCRATIC powers?

This is a disgrace . Are we a third world country ?My only question is, when the truth comes out that Bush never won an electon. Do the appointed supreme court justices become null and void ?

"Unproven allegations?" That sounds as if the burden of proof is on those making the allegations. That's not how free and open elections work; they require enough transparency to be able to demonstrate that they were, in fact, conducted fairly.
Unfortunately, the current generation of voting machines does very little in this regard. That they have not bothered to take even basic measures to prevent undetectable fraud - that's criminal.

Re: comment #3 "Do the appointed supreme court justices become null and void ?"
It would be logical. But, since the answer is sure to be, "No," can ANYTHING be done to suspend all confirmation activity - effective immediately - until it is definitively determined who was elected president? Such determination will probably happen in the very near future compared to the time of a lifetime appointment.

The touchscreen machines are unauditable by design. All they
can do is report what they report. We would not acceopt
unauditable accounts in our corporations or in our government
agencies, so why do we accept them in our elections?
And why haven't the Dems been screaming bloody murder about
the fact that legislation that would have outlawed the unauditable
machines was derailed by Frist and DeLay?

We must remember that the owner of diebold, said that he would do anything to get Bush the to the Presidentcy, also by the company head quaters being in Ohio with a Republican Secretary of the State and also head of the Bush campaign in Ohio Keneth Blackwell, you know that it was a setup, these peoples are ruthless and gutless, these peoples would sale their mother souls to the devil if given the chance.

How can someone claim to be a patriotic American and then say they'll happily subvert the election system to put a Republican in the presidency, even if the vote is obviously for someone else?
When this comes out there's going to be a lot of questions to be answered. One will be, "Are Republicans trustworthy Americans who should ever be allowed to hold elective office?"

Who's Counting Goes LIVE!!
Successful election campaigns are sated, squelched and nourished by grassroots efforts.
Grassroots are planted in and sprouted from the soil of election integrity.
The heartbeat of any election, or any election integrity issue, is vote tabulation – THE COUNTING—and yet, it is curiously the most disregarded topic, virtually absent from today’s legislative and public conversation on election reform. On the other hand, the CASTING of the vote has been addressed ad infinitum, and is covered in my study as well. But it is the COUNTING that all Americans need to be better informed about— electronic vote tabulation is but one of the perpetrators quietly placing America’s representative democracy on the endangered species list...in peril of extinction.

Do we Americans really have to prove who counted the votes? How the votes were counted and who voted for so in so in a monarchy? This would be OK but we ain't part of England anymore! If ya'all are expecting Diebold to come out and admit any wrong doing, that will happen right after the Bushit administration admits to the botched 911 attack. Then Dick Cheney's Haliberton Oil will announce that all the company's proceeds from their no bid oil contracts in Iraq will now go to the aid of Katrina ravaged New Orleans. Then George Dubbya is gonna get spine cell surgery and grow a conscience. Lit on some moonshine he will make his 1st pre-emptive manuever for the better of the United States called "no bastards left behind." He's gonna televise a march on all the major networks in which he admits to the lies about the 911 attack, the truth about why we killed 100,000 Iraqi civilians, the government's destruction of our wildland$, reduction of our air quality and the all other 400 environmental laws and standards reversed under his watch. Then he's gonna admit to the advantage of torturing war detainees and how the new bankruptcy laws, the new laws for an individual filing a lawsuit against a corporation, the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act, and the Bushit war cracking down on (of all drugs) marijuana, were designed against the American people. Then he and his cabinet are gonna march directly to jail and wait for the other lying murderer and cheats in his administration to be gathered from under their rocks where they live so they can all be tried for treason and other crimes related to their vulgar displays of powers.

For the average person, I think Dieb Throat's expose falls just a hair short of being a smoking gun. For Diebold to know that their machines were hackable isn't the same as knowing that they were hacked on Nov. 2 (though most of us know that in fact did happen). It's bad, and the Diebold spokesman who called it "nonsense" knows better, I promise. But not quite criminal, unless "criminal neglect" could be proven, which is doubtful.
I think what's needed now is a proven link between Diebold, Blackwell, and Noe. The missing coin money is the key, I'll bet. Follow the money...isn't that the rule in exposing scandals?

Interesting question..Would the supreme court justices nominated be null and void if it is proven Bush stole 2 elections. O'Conner offered to stay on..but I believe Bush wants to ram another idealogue on through. Does he know something we don't? Anybody read cloak and dagger? They say Fitzgerald's grand jury findings are damning. Far reaching into more than just the outing of plame. I hope this is true. bush has alienated so many people, common sense says it has to boomerang eventually.

If Fitzgerald indicts a Bush Cabinet official for fraud, he or she has to resign or be impeached before a criminal trial can occur, according to my understanding of the Constitution (any legal scholars out there who can confirm this?).
Safavian just got indicted for his associations with Abramoff. But he wasn't in the cabinet. Supreme Court justices have to be impeached, I'm sure; there's no precedent for saying, "The elections were crooked, thus Bush's appointments are invalid."
It comes down to the president's public standing. Nixon resigned because he had lost all political power and would have been impeached, not because he was indicted (Ford pardoned him, remember?). If Bush's poll numbers stay in the 30s, and the election is proven fraudulent, and the stock market collapses (probable), and his G.O.P. support on Capitol Hill vanishes (possible), and his moneyed friends desert him, Bush will resign.
I think we're fairly close, but not very close to that.

The programs were designed for Republicans, to be used by Republicans, to elect Republicans. They, GOP, insist on keeping the machines unverifyable so that recounts would not be possible.
In some precincts that had only a couple of hundred registered voters (most being Democrats), some of them delivered more then 5,000 votes to GWB.
And, some of you don't see any problem here.

A side thought on the ethics of these same Republicans and how they doo business. I do hope that Brad can get something on this:
I once tried to challenge Jim Greenfield on his own show regarding my expanded Armstrong Williams theory. As I recall he didn't handle the questions very well at all. He tried to make the case that he saw no difference in the government funding right wing talk radio personalities or government funds being provided to public radio. There is, of course, a real difference. In one case Congress saw a value in having a noncommercial public broadcast station and authorized some public funding. The second case is quite different. It is members of one political party slipping funds out of the public treasury (on whatever pretext) and providing it to those selling their Kool Aid, those willing to keep the people misinformed on their behalf.
Jim was unable to see any difference, however, so I am much inclined to think him a recipient of just such embezzled public funds. If he is, in fact, being paid public funds to lie to us then I am going to believe this particular scandal is probably much bigger then just him. Understand that this would be happening courtesy of the same folks that feel at liberty to hand billions in public funds to no bid insider corporations that can't account for how many billions of dollars and that maintain addresses where they pay no taxes. I find it to be an Administration that is little hampered by ethics. We are often told to follow the money. Do you think it could be traced, Mark? Would their be public records if public funds are being used in such a fassion? There would obviously be some laundering but what records would be bublic and that we would have a right to?
