Dang PayPal kept sending me notices that a new email address had signed on to my account and wanted me to do all this verification stuff which included putting in bank routing numbers and such. The emails wouldn't allow me to "reply" and the only way to get into the "contact us" link at the PayPal site was again to put in all this account verification, so I just let the account expire.
Okay, long story just to say - my Sat. night token donation is in the mail!!
I always say this but I'll say it again - anyone who can't afford to send much, send what you can. If everyone donated a little it would add up to a lot! We need Brad so bad and it would be really sad for him to go around with cat breath!

Ooo Jen! That PayPal notice was a SCAM! I got the same thing & researched it out:

PayPal Scams Services
If you receive an e-mail 'supposedly' from PayPal asking you to click a link to login don't do it! Instead you should visit PayPal.com by manually typing it in your browser. Many paypal 'phishing' messages count on you to not think and just click away!

Poor Brad! Please don't eat cat food, even though the Elegant Entree has tempted me at times.
Jen #2 said it best. We owe you an awful lot, Brad!

Joseph Cannon at Cannonfire revealed that pet food isn't even good for pets...or safe. Even the "premium" brands. Not only do suspect, "down" animals get sent to petfood factories (mad cow, anyone?) but even put-to-sleep pets get ground into the mix. Proof: traces of phenobarbitol in the food!
So Brad...PLEASE stay away from the petfood aisle!!

Kira #3 - well dang it all, maybe my account really isn't expired then! Once I decided I wasn't gonna give them any more information I just deleted all the emails from them. Thanks for the investigative work!!
Peg C #5 - I've never heard that, but I'm not surprised... There are some good "premium" foods (NOT Eukanuba as many think!) - Whole Dog Journal does a pretty good job of keeping up on the best ones. I don't know a comparable publication for cats... One excellent brand of dog and/or cat food is Wysong. Only trouble, it's hard to find. Some places will special order. Where I lived in CA several pet supply and feed stores carried it.
Cooking for your pets is best of course and there's tons of books with excellent recipes you can make in bulk and freeze. Some swear by the Raw food diet.
Brad, maybe you just need a good dog or cat owner to feed you!! No Friskees or Whiskas!

IAMS salmon & chicken combination is delicious. Goes great with a sprinkling of ocean fish crunchies on top. Leaves the breath a bit seaworthy, though.
Happy Independence Day to all TRUE lovers of freedom.

Jen thank you for the pet food links, I too read Joseph Cannon's article on pet food and was horrified.
Your links are a big help.

The Bush Administration puts its own interests before the interests of Americans
It is two years since PlameGate broke open as a national story, but its implications have long been underplayed by the White House and the Press.
Whatever the legal outcome, this fact remains clear: In order to send a message to anyone who would expose that the White House lied America into war, the White House deliberately endangered the national security of the United States. This is an action that could have only been authorized by Karl Rove, perhaps with a nod and a wink from Bush. In fact, Joe Wilson revealed on Nightline that MSNBC newsman Chris Matthews called him and said: 'I just got off the phone with Karl Rove. He tells me your wife is fair game.'
As a warning to those who would expose Bush lies about WMDs, the White House revealed to reporter Bob Novak and others, that Valerie Plame, the wife of Ambassador Joe Wilson, was a CIA operative, who specialized in fighting the trafficking of Weapons of Mass Destruction. This fact was then published in several papers effectively blowing Ms. Plames cover, destroying her investigations and ruining her career. The Bush Administration deliberately chose to neutralize an American asset in the war against the proliferation of WMDs, while fighting a war allegedly launched against WMDs, in order to make an example of a man, Joe Wilson, who wrote a commentary in the NY Times arguing that the Bush claim of WMD evidence involving a transaction between Niger and Saddam Hussein was false. Wilson was asked to investigate this transaction by the CIA and his report to them stated these facts. However, after these claims were still stated as fact in a Bush speech, Wilson wrote the piece for the Times explaining that he had investigated this connection and not found it to be credible. Those familiar with the Downing Street Memos will find this accusation of "fixing the facts around policy" unsurprising.
In short, the Bush Administration doesn't care if it endangers our national security by undercutting our efforts to curtail the very weapons that they claim they were saving us from. That is how dangerous the Bush Administration is to our national security --- and it is has been before us in plain sight for two years. But the mainstream media has focused on periodic reports that emerge about the "investigation" of the Chicago U.S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, who was appointed by John Ashcroft, then Attorney General, to see if any laws were broken.
Fitzgerald, who works now for AG and highly possible Supreme Court nominee Gonzales, must be under enormous pressure to find a way to avoid legally charging any senior Bush Administration officials, particularly Karl Rove. Most speculation is that he will claim not to have enough evidence to charge Rove or others with violating the law in regards to exposing a CIA operative. The conventional wisdom is that Fitzgerald is now focussing on the possibility of charging the leaker, Rove, with perjury. But that is only speculation.
Rove is Bush's domestic policy guru, and if he can get Gonzales to sit on Fitzgerald, the result of the investigation will become politically motivated, not legally accountable. If there are no indictments against Rove or other senior White House officials, Bush will declare that his staff got a clean bill of health and the compliant mainstream media will consider PlameGate closed.
Or Rove may have Gonzales, through Fitzgerald, indict a "little fish" to take the heat off, and Godfather style, the victim will be promised to have his family taken care of and a job waiting for him when he gets out of a federal "country club" prison.
Of course, there is another possibility: that Fitzgerald will actually uphold the rule of law. In that case he would indeed be unique among the Bush administration as he forges ahead despite pressure to find legal reasons NOT to indict Rove or any senior Bush/Cheney officials. But, although Fitzgerald has a reputation for relative integrity, we aren't holding our breath.
But here is what we know even without legal indictments: the Bush White House committed brazen treason by deliberately undercutting our national security efforts to keep WMDs out of the hands of terrorists. How did they do this? By exposing the identity of a CIA operative working undercover on specifically that issue: WMDs. Why did they do this? Because Karl Rove wanted to prevent future whistleblowers from coming forward to expose Bush lies as Joe Wilson did in his article exposing that a lie had been used to bolster the false claim that Iraq had WMDs. It is now public knowledge that the Niger documents were (very amateur) forgeries. It is certainly common knowledge that Iraq, in fact, had no WMDs. Wilson was correct in his claims. Yet he had the wrath brought down on his wife and himself for daring to speak the truth, even if bringing that wrath destroyed CIA WMD investigations by notifying the involved parties they were dealing with a CIA operative.
The PlameGate affair is symbolic of how the Bush Administration puts its own interest in preserving power before the interests of the American people and even before its allmighty "War On Terror".
