The problem is, little things like that for the well to do is just you know, its working out very well for them!!!
What about Halliburton's oil profits in new orleans instead?
After all, those poor 'folks' won't rely on the welfare system anymore since they have to rely on texas!!!!

I didn't expect him to completely ignore the issue. But I suppose if I was as self-centered and unconcerned with issues that did not concern me and my "buddies", then perhaps it might slip my mind too.
Has anyone ever asked Bush how much HE donated to the relief efforts? I mean, he is already wealthy, and he IS the president, I think he can afford it.

Even The Washington Post Corrected Bush's Lies
If we're winning the war in Iraq, why are we still there? When you win, Al Qaeda is gone and we leave. We're still there, and Al Qaeda is still there 3 years after they were never there (until Bush morphed Osama/9-11 into Sadaam/Iraq). People who think we're winning the Iraq War are idiots. How is Bush going to attack Iran, when we're still in Iraq, and 50,000 troops are on "stop-loss" on their 2nd or 3rd tours of duty past their obligation?
Also, how come Israel can have hundreds of "NOO-KEE-LORE" weapons, and Iran can't have one? I'm just wondering......because I have a brain!

I still cant get over the "were addicted to oil" line. I simply can't believe this buffoon even said that. So let me get this straight chimpy, Its our faults for consuming so much oil when you won't even demand that more fuel efficient cars be built?. It's our fault when any attempt by the democrats to ask for funding for alternative sources of energy is denied? You are the biggest moron ever to lead this country. But then again, we all know that.

Mr Bush is all heart.
Home heating oil prices in New York are up by 21 percent over last year and 60 percent over two years ago. Yet Congress reduced funding to New York despite findings that 20 percent of seniors are forgoing vital medications to pay for heat.
Further, applications for the HEAP program in New York have increased by 25 percent. Last year, 848,000 people received emergency HEAP benefits that ranged from $150 to $400 in direct payments, or a standard benefit of $40 or $50, depending on income.

Process this one?
If there is no statute of limitation on murder, why can Teddy (Hik-Up) Kennedy continue to stalk the halls of congress?
He argued that Supreme Court Justice Alito would roll back womens rights.
Well didn't Teddy boy take voting rights away from Mary Jo Kopechne?

Expect this to proceed along the same lines as the torture (non)investigations. Prosecute a Cpl Graner and PVC England, but keep the top dogs out of it. Whatever Cindy wins in her suit won't come out of their pockets, but out of the taxpayers'. Still, it should be fun to watch the bastards squirm.

Personally I think it is undignified for anyone to wear a tee shirt with a slogan on it to the sotu address. If everyone was wearing tee shirts with slogans on them it would look like an eighth grade classroom. No matter who is president, there is a such a thing as dignified attire.
If Cindy had worn a black dress with veil, sat quietly with her eyes diverted from the president perhaps head turned away, she would have made more impact and a stronger statement.
The camera would have been on her a lot and she would be a more sympathetic figure. I am not trying to tell her what to do. She can do whatever she wants. I just think it would have had more impact.

Gotta defend Nagin here. I'm sure there is no need to comment on the racist attitude of #29.
However, I feel it necessary, as a Louisiana white man, to note that Nagin was popular with both blacks and whites in NOLA; and was involved with trying to clean up the traditional corruption of the city. He was a successful businessman before election and was bringing a more business-like attitude to City Hall.
Katrina thrust him onto a bigger stage than he was used to, and he has apparantly forgotten that he will be there as long as he is mayor. His unfortunate phrase choices in 2 sentences of his MLK day speech overshadowed what was otherwise a fine speech. I assume that Nagin was merely having a good time at a holiday party and didn't note that his words as mayor of NOLA will always be followed by the national press.
Visiting the city 4 days later, I noted the shops already had "Willie Nagin and the Chocolate Factory" and "Welcome to Chocolate City" T-shirts available.
I also note that the "2000 busses sitting flooded" was a figment of the Bush administration's imagination, repeated so much by their echo chamber that many thought it was true.
Actually, there were 2 HUNDRED city-owned busses that did not get pressed into duty because the drivers were not accessable after the call to evacuate had gone out. Some had left with their families, phone service was out, and no one foresaw the need to evacuate the superdome.
200 busses would barely begin to evacuate the folks still stuck in the city.
And remember, many didn't see the floods coming, thinking the storm had passed and the city had dodged a bullet. The trouble didn't start till a day later.

I found President Bush's use of Coretta Scott King's passing both manipulative and incredibly insincere.
This was confirmed when during this address he left behind the issues of such great importance to both Coretta King and her husband Dr. Martin Luther King, a living and fair wage, the uninsured, and access to a higher education.
But most of all after President Bush used Mrs. King passing to begin his State of Denial he never mentioned his administrations slow and inadequate response along the gulf coast and New Orleans. He never mentioned the thousands of individuals "left behind" to suffer, drown and die in New Orleans. He never even mentioned this massive mistake.
This was a slap in the face to everything Coretta and Dr. Martin Luther King stood and worked so hard for all of their lives. This proved once again that Bush and this administration have no shame, conscience or souls.

Maybe because the "massive mistake" was yet another liberal lie in their War on Truth.
Perhaps that Bush should have mentioned that FEMA had USAR teams in New Orleans while Katrina was still battering Mississippi. You remember Mississippi. It was one of the "other" states that the libs ignored because there weren't enough "poor blacks" there.
Perhaps Bush should have mentioned that we have since learned that the majority of the people who died in New Orleans were white and not the "poor blacks" that the libs swore were left to drown by Bush.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that we have since learned that the majority of people who evacuated before the storm were "poor blacks" instead of the "rich whites" as the libs wanted us to believe.
Perhaps he should have mentioned how the libs and Katrina Chickens did their very best to exploit the "poor blacks" of New Orleans.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that it was determined that many of those "poor blacks" who were "left to drown" had cars parked in front of their houses and could, concievably, have left before the storm, but stayed of their own volition.
Perhaps he should have mentioned the amount of money that has been poured into New Orleans.
Perhaps he should have mentioned Sen. Landrieu's demands for $250 Billion for mostly pork items.
Perhaps he should have mentioned Gov. BlankCheck's spending over $600,000 to renovate government offices, which the public would never see, while ordering a freeze on spending for such contracts.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that the Kenyon company already works on major projects for many airlines and has experience with mass casualty body recovery. He should have also mentioned that it was the State of Louisianna that contracted Kenyon and not FEMA.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that even though Brown didn't know about the people in the Convention Center and Dome, neither did "Schoolbus" Nagin.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that just about the only thing the liberal media got right about the whole deal was that a big hurricane called Katrina affected New Orleans and caused flooding. The rest of the reporting is open to question.
Perhaps he should have mentioned that while the libs were orgasming over Brown's e-mails, you have no idea of the similar comments those of us in Fire/EMS make on a regular basis, all in a joking mood to lighten up. The least of which would be wishing you could go home during a shift.
You gotta laugh or you'll go crazy.
You're absolutely right. There are a lot of things he could have said about it and didn't. Oh well.
BTW, regarding the "Chocolate City" remark, the only thing worse than that was the half-assed apology he made.

Oh yeah,
Bush could have also mentioned the fact that states with Republican governors were able to figure shit out, roll up their sleeves and get going with the aftermath effort. Meanwhile, the Louisianna government was sitting in the mud demanding that Bush save them.
It's worth noting how the states with Republican governors were able to figure shit out before the storm hit.
Those of us here in Polk County Florida (the cross road of hurricanes Frances, Charlie & Jean, 2004) wonder what all the liberal whining is about.

Last one:
Do you think the Kings would have approved of the liberal exploitation and politicization of the "poor blacks"?

Please provide sources.
"The president said much of the aid is going towards job training. And when they heard that, the people of New Orleans rose as one and said, 'Can we start with you?'" --Bill Maher
A lot of people are now blaming President Bush for not evacuating New Orleans sooner. Hey, we're still trying to get him to evacuate Crawford, Texas. Took him five weeks to get out of there." --Jay Leno
Brown said he was stepping down because he was an ineffective leader who had lost the confidence of the people, to which Bush said, 'That's no reason to quit your job.'" --Jay Leno
Our president isn't exactly getting high marks for his handling of the catastrophe. People don't seem to realize, yes the hurricane has been devastating to the people who live in that area, but it has also ruined the last three days of his vacation. He has suffered too." --Jimmy Kimmel
There's one big difference between George Bush and Marie Antoinette, and that is when Marie Antoinette said 'Let them eat cake,' they had cake." --Bill Maher
"By the way, if you want to help the victims hit hardest by hurricane Katrina, Fox news has posted the Web site of the Republican National Committee." --Bill Maher

The problem is, when you make claims without sources, it gives the appearance you are pulling "facts" out of your butt. If it is an opinion, well ok, but if you present it as fact then sources (even bad sources) give it credibility. Without sources people will think you are spreading bs. you wouldn't want that would you?

There's this thing called Google. It's a wonderful tool. You can find all sorts of things other than the latest liberal lies. Of course when the DNC lying points and the NY (DNC)Times is your only source for news, you probably missed all that.
Bad sources like the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals whose statistics show that less than half the Katrina victims were black?
Although, if you look at the DNC Times, there's an article in there about how BlankCheck's people were sending out e-mails asking Washington liberals for help in blaming Bush for the disaster.
Firehouse Magazine had extensive articles of the realities (what the liberal media couldn't figure out) about the devastation there. They even had an article about FEMA USAR in N.O.
Chanel 2 News in Baton Rouge carried the story of Gov. BlankCheck spending over $564,000 on government offices. So I said over $600,000 above. I knew it was over $500,000 and could only remember a 6 in there somewhere.
Anywho, as for the rest, you're on your own. I'm sure you're clever enough to look beyond the talking points to find what I'm talking about. If not, I feel sorry for you.
Like I always say, you can lead an ass to water, but you can't make him think.

Oh and speaking of "Halliburton's oil profits in New Orleans", since Halliburton is not an oil company, how do they get oil profits?

Haliburton got the secret no-bid contract to rebuild the Iraq oil system six months before the Iraq war started.
They are well oiled in corruption.

That's cause Haliburton is the DEVIL! Also, George Dubya Bush blowed up the levees to kill them black folk I didn't evacuate. Know hows I know? Brother Louis Farakhan from the Mother Ship telled me, that's how.
Nawlins was runned by democrats and was a UTOPIA, gawdammit, a UTOPIA! Even though we had 80% poverty and people expected govmint to do everything from wipe their ass to evacuate them before a hurricane, it was UTOPIA Below the Sea! How can some cracker from some red state dare criticize me for the job I did? Even thoughed we had 500 extra cops on the payrolls that were never hired, that money was for a rainy day. What's more rainy than a hurricane, dammit?
Oh, better go to mah new house in Texas befo the CIA kills me, man. Shit. No more buses. Betta take a private jet or some shit.

Jo,
I do get your point here (#43) re "...No matter who is president, there is a such a thing as dignified attire...", but for me the free expression issue trumps the bad taste issue. And I get the impression from the reports of the incident that she may not have had the opportunity to change clothes before the event.
I tried to go to that link (#37), btw,
www.ebaumsworld.com%2Fpresaddress2.shtml
because I would enjoy the comic relief! but it didn't work, something amiss with the address..?
Good Letterman joke, though!
