This is a day or two old, but I’m in the mood for a bit of lighter fare at the moment after the last couple of days of various mayhem, so I thought I’d share it with you. From yesterday’s LA Times account of Charles and Camilla’s visit to San Francisco…

And for the finale, San Francisco chief of protocol Charlotte Maillard Shultz donned a Wonder Woman costume and flew briefly on a wire over the theater before her husband, former Secretary of State George Shultz appeared, ripped open his dress shirt to reveal a Superman T-shirt and “saves” her from the wire.

Afterward, the former secretary of State spoke directly to the audience about his respect for the British and then gushed, “So hats off to the British!”
If the news was like this every day, I could retire.

"Lighter fare"? Me thinks, Brad, that you underestimate Schultz at your peril! Remember he was one of those who picked Reagan, and then Baby Doc Bush to become president. See a trend here? And if I am not mistaken, he is still busy in California politics, isn’t he?

BTW I’m one of those who do not buy in this Reagan-the-greatest-president-ever B.S.! I think that just like the current one, he was just another stooge being manipulated by his puppeteers, one of which is Schultz who, if I am not mistaken, is still busy in California politics, isn’t he?
In addition to puttying baby Bush in office, Schultz was also the driving force behind Nixon and his newest incarnation Schwarzenegger, as well as the privatization of social security in Chile, if I recall correctly. Dangerous man, he is.

Has anyone figured out how Camilla signs her checks? Assuming, that is, she does such things.
Consider: Contrary to popular belief, Camilla’s maiden name wasn’t Parker. She was divorced from a man whose last name was Parker-Bowles.
If her maiden name had been Parker, she would have become Camilla Parker Parker-Bowles after marriage.
Now she’s married to Prince Charles, who has so many names that Camilla couldn’t possibly fit them all on a check. I think his real name is Charles Edward Albert Arthur George Windsor (orignally the family name was Hanover, but anti-German sentiment after World War I forced the change to Windsor). That’s pretty confusing, but when Queen Elizabeth dies it gets more so, because Charles will then become head of the House of Mountbatten.
In any case, Camilla, at the moment (legally speaking) is Mrs. Camilla (add maiden name) Parker-Bowles Windsor, Duchess of Cornwall…or Mrs. Charles Edward Albert Arthur George Windsor, Duchess of Cornwall. Assuming she outlives the queen, eventually she will become Mrs. Charles Edward Albert Arthur George Windsor Mountbatten, Duchess of Cornwall. Unless, that is, she and Charles have gotten a divorce by then, in which case her name will revert to Mrs. Camilla (add maiden name) Parker-Bowles Windor Mountbatten, Duchess of (somewhere else).
It will only get nasty if Charles’ third wife becomes Duchess of Cornwall, and Camilla shows up there with a dueling pistol to claim her acreage. I suspect CNN will be on hand to cover the carnage.
Royalty costs too much. At least in England they admit the notion of royalty.
US royalty, embedded within the corporations and politicians, is closet bound. They just can’t admit that they think they are royalty.

Camilla’s maiden name is Shand.
Camilla signs just "Camilla" when she signs anything including legal documents.
When the queen dies, Charles become king, Camilla will no longer use the Duchess of Cornwall
title, legally her title wil change to Queen Consort.
And personally I think this marriage might last.
