Don't ask, don't tell, eh?
I think you folks have bats in your belfries.
Here is a point for you all to consider:
Socialism is roundly considered a complete failure. It is a dead system which has no political capitol anymore. It has ceased to exist. It is a non-parrot. It has joined the choir invisible. If you idjits hadn't nailed it to the perch it would be pushing up daisies already!

Mike tries to insult people by calling them socialists and invoking mom:
"Nice group of socialists you cavort with, Brad.
Didn't your mother ever tell you that you are judged by the people with whom you associate?"
Please excuse me while I stoop to Mike's level and show him how it's done:
All of our mothers told us that, but then, we knew our mothers, and our fathers. I did know your mom, briefly, and there's a good chance me or a 1000 other guys are your dad. We had fun at those satan worshipping communist parties. So did your mom.
Any more lessons and i'll have to charge you, Mike. I won't do freebies, like your mom. I'm not that much of a socialist.

Last time I checked, Mike, that whole warmongering imperialist capitalism theme we've got going isn't doing all that well, either. Say what you like about socialism, but let's not forget whose economy is in the shitter because of an illegal war that has killed hundreds of thousands, ok?
You might be right, but that doesn't explain why you think capitalism is a better system, and the evidence at hand would lead most people of even average intelligence to believe it is not a better system, becuase of the corruption, oppression, and rampant cronyism it inspires.

Just a thought:
Pure socialism, when not corrupted (by Stalin, Mao et al) is government "by the people, for the people". Does this phrase ring any bells with anyone?
Pure capitalism is by it's very nature corrupt because it's fundamental tenet is government by the wealthy for the wealthy. If you ain't got the dough, you can't go. When the merchants are in control, the only thing that matters is the bottom line, social and environmental issues are trampled underfoot in the headlong rush towards enhancing shareholder value.
Both systems have faults, but I lean towards a system that works on the principle of "We hold these truths to be self evident: all men are created equal" than one which states that "might makes right".
A small note to the right wing-nuts: When Christ threw the money lenders from the temple, he committed a political act which did not place him on the side of capitalism. Also, the statement "And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Mat. 19:24) makes him sound like a bit a socialist to me.
Once again, just my not-remotely-humble opinion.
Keep the faith!
PS. I haven't had my troll Hors deurves yet this morning and I'm getting hungry...

For Heaven's sake. Christ fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless, and healed the sick. He shared everything, as far as I know. This is all such nonsense. Everyone knows it.
Many years ago, when I traveled in India, there was an international community that pooled all the resources, shared the money, camped out and explored together, and thoroughly enjoyed life together. For some odd reason, people were naturally inclined to help one another.
Capitalism is OK in theory, but something seems to get triggered like a cancerous cell that makes the growth get out of control and take over other cells.
If what's mine is mine and what's yours is yours prevailed, it could work. It's the takeover factor that mucks things up. It then goes against itself as the ones without are left to be dealt with, and probably ends up costing more in the long run.
You can't logistically murder them all. You need them for labor and whatnot. Becomes a mess. An expensive one.

I'm not interested in throwing terms like "Socialism" and "Capitalism" around at a time like this. It's far less important than the point displayed here:
This is the most polarized I've ever seen our country. I've seen hated presidents before but not even close to this degree. I think it's a dangerous thing. The old saying, "A house divided against itself cannot stand" comes to mind.
This is not an administration that is showing any interest it uniting the country. Aside from its pointless rhetoric, it is intent on driving The USA to the right, to put corporate interests above the interests of the general populace, and the long-term results of this will very likely be severely damaging.
The Bible states "The meek shall inherit the Earth".
If this is true, The USA is in for bit of a problem. There are so many good, honest, caring people in our country......but, THEY ARE NOT IN CHARGE!....and, as you can see by the above photos, the World is taking notice.

Bob.. The polarization is probably a necessary thing. It is bringing the deep problems to light. We've been going on this way for a long time oblivious to the facts. The shell is cracking now, and awareness is emerging. And it is not just in this country. Unfortunately, it usually takes a big crisis to unite people.
The people you see in those photos don't just hate Bush. He is a symbol of the corporate stranglehold going on worldwide.
The damage started long before Bush, but I agree, we need to band together. all of us with good intentions.

"Off-topic" point here: I don't feel Atty Jimmo should have been banned. I disagree with almost everything he says, and I know most of it is simply baiting, but I don't think banning him reflects the "spirit" of what this board should be standing for. We all need to be bigger than that.
The current administration, and the mushrooming media/propaganda machine that created and defends it, demonizes nearly all who disagree with their agenda. Do we wish to reflect the spirit of that here, in this blog?
Jimmo doesn't deserve such focus anyway. He'll probably just find a way to come back as someone else. Mike's "gas" reads an awful lot like Jimmo's, does it not?
We all, including "The Man", Brad, have bigger "fish" to "fry". Like keeping Clint Curtis high-profile, and in the news. Clint's taken a chance in exposing the NeoCon underground, and we need to be actively concerned for his safety. Brad's, also.
Jimmo, Paul, and Mike, are mere "blips". If you ban them, they're still out there, aren't they? Argue with them, pity them, get angry with them, even ignore them. But banning people is not a suitable answer, in my humble opinion.
At my age, I still have strong ideals. My ideals do include those who disagree with me. "That which does not kill me makes me stronger"..."I do not support what you say, but I support your right to say it". This, to me, is the spirit of The America I love.

Brad gave Jimmo many warnings and chances. This is his blog and freedom of speech is on his dime. This is a fine place to debate the finer points of any subject. Jimmo's too busy deliberating whether to go with Twinkies or Ding Dongs. Brad's decision was the right one. People on the right are rarely interested in debate these days, anyway, and with good reason. I'm sure you've noticed that. Right now, they own or control just about everything, although they are hardly a majority. Well, almost everything. But they don't own it all, not yet. It started back in the 70's with the founding of the "thoughtless tanks" like the Heritage Foundation and they have been waging this war slowly but steadily for 35 years. We could be in for a long struggle to just get back to passing go.

I meant to add that we should never underestimate "blips". Hitler was a "blip" once. We've ignored these blips for the last 35 years. This is what happens when you ignore these blips like the Heritage Foundation was once. Now there are so many of them they take up the whole radar screen. Change their minds, if you can, (impossible). Shoot them, (illegal). Waste your time arguing with them, (time's to valuable), but don't ignore them. Banning is good. They belong on the fringe anyway.

Re #20:
Whilst I agree with Bob on most things (and respect his opinion ALWAYS), I'm afraid that I must disagree on one point.
That current state of division in the US (and the worldwide reprecussions) are as a result of Dubya's policies. They are themselves a symptom of a much deeper malaise and that is the push towards a worldwide hegemony of corporate influence unrestricted by any form of regulation. The merchant elite fund his campaigns (and the lies and skulduggery that entails) not out of commtment to any socioeconomic ideals, but in support of PROFIT - nothing more and nothing less. If we fail to realise that, next election will merely see George W. Bush replaced with Jeb and the whole crock of shit continues.
You don't kill a cur by amputating it's tail (and with the amount of crap coming out of the Bush camp it must be someplace close), removal of the head is a much surer way. Unless the corporations are brought under some form of effective control, this cycle will be repeated ad infinitum and in that endeavour the labels of socialism and capitalism will (rightly or wrongly) surface time and again.
Essential steps (as I see them)
1. Unseat Bush, preferably by impeachment and imprisonment.
2. Institute election reform and severly curtial undue corporate influence over campaign financing. It works well in the rest of the civilised world, there's no reason to believe that it wouldn't work in the US.
3. Re-introduce regulatory powers and properly fund the bodies responsible. Corporations claiming fourth amandement (I think, I'm only a limey - thrown me a frickin' bone here!) right to privacy as a mechanism to avoid investigation is quite patently ludicrous and serves only the interests of those who damage and pollute without any form of regard for the people or the law.
4. Remove tort reform. Those who do the damage, pay to put it right and it should hurt so that they will be unwilling to do it again.
Again, these are the opinions of a hairy lunatic and should not be construed as anything but
Keep the faith and vive le revolution de velours!

Anyone care to help out the token limey?
Did any of the conter inaugral stuff make the MSM over there?
I'm guessing not, but I don't like to work on guesses when arguing with a wing-nut.
As an aside (and I'm probably going out on a limb here), I think we (progressives/liberals/whatever) should resist the urge to demonise all republicans - bear with me here...
My wifes uncle (a man who I love and respect for his humanity, generosity and humour) is a Republican, we have decided a while ago to just agree to disagree on Politics. When cold called this election by the local GOP and asked if they could count on his vote, his reply was "Sure, as long as you're not fielding George W. Bush as your candidate." The call was terminated fairly quickly, as you can well imagine. I refuse to believe that this man is the only one in the US - just because I think that he's one in a million, don't make it so. There must be people of thought and conscience who consider themselves republican and we should not tar them with the same brush, if we continue to demonise them the divisions merely deepen and the rift only serves the interests of those currently in power.
If we are completely honest with ourselves, both parties have been subverted with an elitist taint (kind of a corporate-religious thing), it's just that the Republicans have been swallowed faster because of their inherent tendency toward central control - grab control of the centre and the rest follows easily.
That's why I prefer to use the term neo-cons, most republicans of conscience will not identify with them and hopefully don't feel threatened by this phrase - it may seem like mere word play, but words carry enormous power when carefully chosen and to acheive our aims we must use all (morally acceptable) means at our disposal.
Maybe not a popular opinion I know, but thankfully, I have never courted popularity...
Keep the faith!
And may I take this opportunity to say that you people rock - I'm all the way over the pond but fighting your corner as well as I'm able.

Capitalism creates wealth. Without wealth, no money for tsunami victims.
You liberals are "either or" people.
Brad came to my church once and we have over 7,600 people attending on the weekends and he asked "Why don't you give more money to the poor and have smaller buildings?" I told him we can do both. We do give tons of money and help to poor people but we also need large buildings for the sheer number of people. We have a $20 million auditorium, $9 million youth building, and an $8 million children’s building. And we are building more!
You guys think we ought to pay less for Bush’s inauguration and give more money to tsunami or the troops. Well, we can do all three! Life is not "either or." The real reason behind your dislike of the $40 million is your dislike for this president. In my opinion, it is the most ludicrous and hypocritical bandwagon the left has gotten on during his presidency.

Dear Brad:
I have never in my whole life felt as scared as I am now. It is now no secret that Shrub Boy's next target for pre-emptive war is Iran. North Korea is up after that.
There are those who use this blog to quote the Holy Scriptures. Well, my offering for that is Armageddon. It is now plainly (and painfully) obvious that this is Shrub's mission. To plunge us all headlong into Armageddon.
Will anyone stop this madman? He MUST be the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. There is simply no other explanation. I am hoping there will be a country that will step up to oppose him and his neo cons in Congress.
And as for Da Wookie (#16), I tell you this. Based on the passage you referenced, please remember that Jesus described Capitalists in that scene as "A Den of Thieves." Also, please kindly note that the Apostles in the Book of Acts were the ideal Communists. They placed all their possessions into a pile and all took as they had need. Sounds just like this familiar Communist quote: "From each according to his abilities to each according to his need."

Doesn't this just make you want to toss your cookies? "Religion and morality"
Top Stories - Chicago Tribune
Christian right marks start of `a good 4 years'
2 hours, 1 minute ago Top Stories - Chicago Tribune
By Robin Abcarian Tribune Newspapers: Los Angeles Times
A couple of hours after President Bush (news - web sites) took the oath of office, the indefatigable Rev. Lou Sheldon, founder and chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition (news - web sites), was more upbeat than usual.
On Wednesday, Sheldon had tossed a Christian bash for more than 800 people at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The host committee was virtually a who's who of politically important evangelicals, including Gary Bauer (news - web sites), Ralph Reed and Rev. Jerry Falwell. On Thursday, Sheldon played host to an indoor gathering of about 300 fellow Christians, people who wanted to experience the inauguration events with like-minded people but weren't inclined to brave the weather.
"This is the beginning of a good four years," said Sheldon, who is given to quoting historical figures and this time offered a snippet of George Washington's 1796 farewell address: "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports."
"Religion and morality," Sheldon repeated. "That's what is happening--that fusion of religion and morality and public policy has now come about.

When Mike & Bush talk of FREEDOM...they mean free enterprise...they don't mean your freedom!
They believe in the freedom to wage war for profit
They believe in freedom to destroy the environment and suppress free clean alternative energy
They believe in freedom as defined by their religion, not yours or any other personal freedom
They believe in freedom to buy and corrupt elections
They believe in freedom to exploit consumers and workers
They believe in freedom to control law and politics to protect their wealthy benefactors
They believe in freedom to control the media to keep people misinformed and ignorant
They believe in freedom to commit fraud and other crimes to maintain power and control
They believe in freedom to set up corrupt democracies around the world as compliant corporate satellite states
They believe in freedom to amass capitalist wealth while much of the world languishes in hunger, poverty, and despair
They believe in freedom to worship Jesus Christ, who was a peace loving socialist that despised how the wealthy capitalists exploited the poor, the sick, the disadvantaged, and abused their power, whether political, economic, or religious. (Do they really think Jesus will return and hop in their limos and attend their inaugural balls with all the wars, poverty, and despair in the world they create?)
So as Republicans decry Darwinism and evolution in our schools, they're more than happy to practice economic Darwinism for their selfish greedy benefit. They believe in trickle down economics to which I say, "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's rainin'!"
Socialism is only a failure because Capitalists made sure it would be one in order to protect their wealth and power in America and the world. That's why Republicans plan coups and assasinations against left-wing democracies. And Bush will spread freedom and democracy throughout the world my ass!
When the word freedom passes from Bush's lips, it represents his hidden semantics and agendas, as cover for the corporate free enterprise control code of America and the world...which only suppresses true freedom, liberty, and justice, maintains a state of poverty for billions, plots profit-making wars and coups, and seeks to exploit the human and natural resources of the world to our personal, civil, and environmental detriment.
There is only one way for WE THE PEOPLE to insure we are no longer governed by "their" definition of "freedom" and that is to take their freedom from them, the result of all their frauds and crimes. We must no longer be the prisoners of their definitions and frauds. We must make them the prisoners of a legal, economic, and political system that is truly free, truly liberated, and truly just!
It is time to let fall the guillotine and dethrone the corporate royalty and take back what is ours...

Yes, war ain't perfect. That's why you should be really really sure that the war you're fighting is worth it. Fighting imperialist dictators like Hitler and Hirohito was worth it. Now the tables have turned and the Imperialist dictator is our president. Don't even compare WWII to the Iraq blunder. Your comparisons are not well thought out and quite frankly disgraceful.
As far as having faith in God, you have the right to do so. But, dude, what the fuck does that have to do with anything here?

said on 1/21/2005 @ 11:15 am PT...
Yesterday, a great leader G. W. Bush was sworn in as OUR president. He is a man of his word. He believes in freedom and liberty for the entire world. He understands that his #1 job is to protect our country from our enemies. He does not lead by polls. He is a man of faith and the Founding Fathers would be proud.
By the way, off topic, during the campaign it was a bad economy out there according to the left. Well, a lot of my friends have lost their jobs since 2000 but all are working now. My wife put $3,150 in her 401K this past quarter and her evil corporation put in $1,575 and the market value of her 401K went up by $12,900 - that my friends is an increase of $16,725 and it reminds my of the Republican years of 1994 to early 2000.

Greetings, all...I have stumbled across your blog completely by accident but have thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts. There are some very thoughtful folks here...as well as your usual numb-skulls who have no clue as to what is really happening to their country.
I have seen so much of Jesus mentioned here that I must comment...
As far as Jesus is concerned, I believe it was He who said "love your enemies & bless those that curse you."
Where is it that I see this attitude from ANY so-called "Christians"? The "Christian" right movement in the U.S. is the most hateful, intolerant, deceitful bunch around today...for instance, look at them with their signs outside their churches: "God Kills Fags"..."Thank God for AIDS"...
How many "Christians" have I heard make comments such as "We should have nuked them."..."We should have leveled Falluja." (Which, by the way, how much more "leveled" do you want??)
Whose God are they praying to??? Who the f*** is THAT God??
I would also like to take a moment to invite you all to my website (although it isn't quite up in its entirety yet) an "All New Low"...in American history...complete with phpBB forum, etc...as I said, it's not quite up & running yet, but you may wish to bookmark it for visits in the future. It should be all good to go by 01-24-05. I would definitely appreciate your participation.
Thanks...
Take care & be good...

Bob Bilse -
Don't be fooled. Nobodies "free speech" is being banned.
For example, take Paul who now freely posts as "Paul's banned free speech". Just one example of the right claiming themselves a victim under the rubric of a complete and total hypocritical lie.
Paul has lied to you in order to make you believe something that is not true. That's a classic effect of Bushism in America, and precisely the opposite of what God (and even Jesus) call for in the books that Paul so ardently and hypocritically acts as if he gives a damn about.
Da Wookie -
I am quite careful not to demonize Republicans (though it does get harder and harder). That said, see for just one example, this BRAD BLOG article called "A (once) Grand Old Party".
It is not Republicans I have a problem with. Indeed, unlike so many of the wingnuts these days, I happen to think more-than-one-party rule is a good thing. I might have even voted for one as President had McCain managed to not be disgracefully slimed by the Uniter Not Divider back in 2000.
I have no problem with *real* Conservatives either. It is only the Fake Conservatives (like Bush, Paul, Atty Jim etc.) who have, via their seemingly boundless hypocrisy and decidely unConservative practices, earned my disdain for their shameless intellectual dishonesty.
On that point, I have quoted and linked to many *true* Conservatives on these pages if you take a look back.
MrBlueSky -
Don't be scared. That's just what they want you to be. And the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
When you are scared, they have won.
Keep up the courageous fight for a Free and Fair America with a government as intended by the Constitution of the People, by the People and for the People.
The fight against the tyranny of the NeoCons can only be won by brave People, like those who truly fought for freedom in this country's past.
The right uses words like "banned free speech" as if saying it makes it so.
We know better.
If you become frightened, then the *real* cowards will have won.

On my first listen to Bush's speech, I thought it was just uninspiring. You know freedom, freedom, freedom...Although I thought, even though I didn't hear the word "draft", that that's what he was implying. Now I realize why I thought that. His whole speech was geared to get us used to the fact he plans to go into other countries, on behalf of FREEDOM...for God's sake!

Hi All You Brothers and Sisters! I just sent this to some old friends, pre-Bradville:
Dear Friends,
It's time to wake up and smell the corpses. I have decided that I must go to my nearest Christian church (tricky but doable here in Prague) every Sunday and carry a large sign that says: Whom would Jesus bomb? and then be prepared to discuss the issue. People who voted for Bullsh because "He's a good Christian" should be forced, or at least coaxed, to parse their thoughts. Might just work!
Love and Peace, All!
Bobbo
PS and if that doesn't work, try walking in to your local draft board and singing a few bars of Alice's Restaurant, in four part harmony, if you've got any friends!

I share your concerns about Iran, especially since I read and commented on an article a couple weeks ago which showed Iran to be at the top of Bush's second term agenda, just like Iraq was on top of his first one...they just had to wait for the 9/11 plans to be carried out. So what new 9/11 crisis tied to Iran will be forthcoming?
And with all the war talk and intelligence gathering going on...sure sounds like we're getting set up again...from public propaganda conditioning to military strike plans! Of course, they're talking about taking out Syria too! Sort of like kill two birds with one stoned President!
Okay! With our great track record in occupying Iraq, where do we get the manpower to invade and occupy Syria and Iran? I know to all of us these thoughts seem insane, but that insanity makes sense in the White House. They're actually planning on it and their re-election and right-wing increases in Congress only boosts the confidence in their self-delusions.
But all the warning signs are flashing red! The report this week of special ops infiltration into Iran for intelligence gathering...look out here comes that great intelligence! Only this time the dark force with the Darth Vader hairstyle will be presenting the case to the UN! Oops! I'm sorry...we don't need the UN anymore according to Dick & George.
Nor as the most powerful nation on Earth, do we need to worry about Geneva Conventions, Nuremburg War Crimes Agreements, or an International Criminal Court! Especially if we're waging war in the service of a GOD greater than all of us!
Then you have the report that the White House has ordered a rush to fill all the Draft Board positions in America and have the entire selective service system up and running, ready to go, by mid-year! It would be impossible to invade Syria or Iran and at the same time maintain control of Iraq without a draft. The only fear I have is that if Congress or the public stands in the way of their best laid plans, we should probably prepare for a major deadly catsatrophic event in America that will once again be exploited to support a draft, war, and more invasions and occupations, and possibly a FEMA executive takeover of our government.
But I envision some very serious strategic problems for them. For one, Tony Blair will find it politically impossible to support anymore war adventures. I don't see al-Sadr and al-Sistani and their Shite majority in Iraq simply sitting back and allowing the US to invade Shite Iran from Iraq or the Sunni's standing by while the US invades Sunni Syria from Iraq. Nor do I believe they can convince an increasingly skeptical American public.
Plus, all the unknowns...how the entire Muslim world and their governments will react? Will they just sit back again and watch the US wage war throughout the Middle East? Will Israel be brought into it to widen the passions and purpose of the massive conflagration? And will Armageddon be a military objective, a corporate agenda, or a Christian Dominionists fantasy come true?
Let's not forget folks, when you talk to Christian Dominionists and the Left Behind freaks, they're talking about the "second coming" in their lifetime, which means our lifetime! And they really mean it! They're not joking around! And the man with their vision is in the White House, sitting on the largest stockpiles of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons in the world, and always just a few feet from a hand-cuffed briefcase ready to launch a nuclear Armageddon.
As I've said before and repeat once more, the merging of Christian Dominionists and the Military Industrial Complex, which includes the Pentagon, and therefore the merging of fanatic Christianity with the most powerful military on Earth, is probably the greatest immediate danger to our country and planet. To what extent corporate exploitation is involved in the background of fomenting religious war and sectarian violence, we can be assured it will be part of the ongoing fraud being perpetrated against all of us.
The only way I see the White House getting around domestic and international opposition of an invasion and occupation of Syria and Iran, is if there is a tragic event in America far greater than 9/11...possibly a nuclear detonation...that will be pinned on Iran's nuclear program. After all, what has Tom Ridge and all the other corporate servants in Washington been telling us since 9/11...that we are going to be hit again and even harder. So they already have conditioned the public psyche for just such an event. One they can orchestrate at the right time and place to maximize the psychological benefit for their plans.
I know this sounds insane, but remember insanity is the White House defense. They think MOON is Sun and night is day! And the worst thing of all, is they don't have to worry about re-election. In fact, they may not even care about the Republican Party or the country, if that's what serves their corporate puppet-masters or, depending on the level of their psychosis, what serves their Christian GOD? And if its Armageddon they want, then in their religious mind there will be no more elections anyway, because Christ will return to rule the world for 1,000 years from an all Christian Israel.
This is what they preach! This is what they sell on their high-priced DVD's and in their books. This is what they beam on Christian cable TV all over the world! They're looking forward to Armageddon! They pray for it! And so should it be any surprise that Christian Dominionists funded Republican partisan owned electronic voting machines, have infiltrated the higher echelons of the Pentagon, and live in the White House?
So when General Tommy Franks warns us to prepare for losing our constitutional rights when we "get hit hard" and another general declares that George Bush was chosen by GOD...a rather disturbing picture develops here. And guess what, if anyone in the White House had any semblance of sanity, it was Colin Powell, and he's been told to hit the road in favor of Miss Darth Vader!
I know the argument is made that there are those in the Pentagon and soldiers on the ground who simply would not support their insanity. But if you can create a national horror large enough that George Bush and his inner sanctum decide to wage nuclear war and bypass the Congress, the UN, and everyone else, if you have enough loyalists in on the scheme...what will stop them from turning their personal insanity into a global nightmare?
Then turn around and justify it as NATIONAL SECURITY and EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE, as they sign the FEMA executive orders which turns the government and the country over to complete White House control. From 9/11 to Afghanistan to Iraq and beyond, I believe we have a President and White House out of control! WHAT FUN!
Sorry to babble on, but just what are we getting into for the next four years...if we get that far? More food for thought in celebration of the Christian corporate coronation of Bush/Cheney! God help us! PEACE!

I was standing in defense of a principle, not the wing-nut in question but when he's just being rude and not bringing anything to the party apart from a lack of reason, bad manners and worse grammar then he's no loss at all. Let's say no more about it.

With some, refutation with facts is an obvious exercise in futility. This seems particularly so among ultra-gullible denizens of the so-called "faith-based community" (as Paul has declared himself to be).
Perhaps this is because actual facts --- a round earth, a heliocentric solar system, a fossil record which prohibits the simplistic literal acceptance of the Book of Genesis' origin myth --- are irrelevant there in the first place.
To paraphrase the great BB King :
I pity the fool
I said I pity the fool
I pity the fool
I said I pity the fool
That falls in love with Bush
And expects Bush to be true
Oh I pity the fool
Look at the people
I know you're wondering
What they're doing
They're just standing there
Watching Bush make a fool of you
Look at the people
I know you're wondering
What they're doing
They're just standing there
Watching Bush make a fool of us, too
He'll break your heart one day
Then he'll laugh and walk away
Oh I pity the fool
Yeah, I pity the fool
I pity the fool
That falls in love with Bush

MrBlueSky; re 16:
Maybe I didn't put my point over as well as I should. I was trying to convey that in my opinion the two acts that I mentioned, if examined in a modern political context, would put christ firmly on the socialist side of the fence. I often wonder how the religous right justify their support of a war mongering capitalist whilst worshiping a saviour who was evidently a pacifistic communist.
As an atheist I have no religous axe to grind, I just wondered what leap of reason would allow these two diametrically opposed views to exit harmoniously in the minds of so many people. It was never intended as an attack on all Christians (my wife is a Quaker BTW), but merely to see if our resident (self declared) christian troll could provide me with a reasonable explanation - apparently not.
Hope this clears things up.
Once again I agree with Brad, now is not the time for fear. This is my recipe to remove the fear.
Step One: Look upon the injustices done, the lies told and the lives stolen to further the power of Karl Rove's glove puppet and serve the interests of his corporate buddies then look upon his smug face as he stands on hios coronation podium and declares his mandate to absolute power.
Step Two: Your fear should now be replaced with a smouldering anger, turn it down to a slow boil.
Step Three: Go about your daily businness, look for ways to thwart the neo-cons and then do them. Wherever possible, in the minds of others replace propaganda with truth, shout down a right winger in public - let them know that we're here, we won't stay quiet and WE'RE BLOODY ANGRY!
Step Four: Support electoral reform any way you can, sign petitions, go on marches, whatever you can, do.
Step Five: In 2006, take comntrol away from the neo-cons and impeach.
Step Six: Turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool.
Stay afraid and inert, they win: Get angry and get active, we win.
and above all, keep the faith. This can be turned around, we all need to stay focused and spread the word - as a wise man once said "Be the media, someones got to"
Re 68: PJ Burke, my sentiments entirely. The idiot when questioned doesn't appear to have the grasp of christian doctrine that a true zealot would - he has played that card to capture the "foaming relgious loon" vote. His true loyalties are to oil money, just look how many of his daddys buddys serve in his cabinet and prop him up. He's no more a christian dominionist than I am a franciscan friar.

Da Wookie - I expressed my opinion - was it here? I don't remember, but in my opinion, reason doesn't enter into it at all. There are two kinds of people, those with moral centers and those without or with negligable ones. Those with a moral core usually struggle in their lives with defining and expressing morality in their thoughts and actions - life is perpetually thoughtful. Those without fill the vacuum of no-morality with hypocritical structures on which they base their thought and actions. Hypocrisy fills the void and orders the life and there is no longer room for reason and meaningful thought and sincere personal struggle. The two kinds of people seem like aliens to each other, and the antipathy really has nothing to do with religion.

What worried me the most was his call to young people to service and sacrifice for something larger than themselves, to believe in what they see with their own eyes. This says to me, Draft. This is THE # 1 issue with me because my Beatiful son will be 18 in April, and the thought of him being taken from us and being forced to fight for this Bastard's immoral and illegal war, wrenches my heart like nothing else.
People ask me why I spend so much time reading and learning about this Admin. and everything that is happening now when all it does is make me angry and upset. Well first of all, anyone who is'nt informed is, IMHO, lazy and in for a shock. Second though is that the best way to defeat your enemy is to know your enemy. So.... > Capitalism is OK in theory
Capitalism, like socialism, is just theory put into practice. Darwin's evolution of the species by natural selection is just a theory, like intelligent design is just a theory. There once was a theory that the ceolacanth, a prehistoric fish, went extinct millions of years ago. Then they caught one in 1938. This did not disprove Darwin, or prove intelligent design. It just proved that Ceolacanths didn't go extinct as had been thought. It disproved that theory. I am an eco-marxist, progressive, liberal, social democrat, theoretically. You think you are a christian capitalist.
>Capitalism creates wealth. Without wealth, no money for tsunami victims.
Capitalism doesn't "create" anything, except for the conditions of poverty in many parts of the world that caused the victims of the tsunami to be poor before the tsunami destroyed what little they had. Unfortunately, this is not the place to go into it, but work and workers create wealth in the form of goods and services, which they produce. Capitalism strives to control the means of that production. It's always about control. There is no liberty or freedom in capitalism, unless you are the boss. I like being my own boss, and no one else's. That's my definition of an anarchist. As a true anarchist, I don't even allow the lexicographer to define anarchy for me.
>You liberals are "either or" people.
I truly wish more of us were, like Patrick Henry. "Give me liberty or give me death."
The older I get, the more that sounds appealing. I hope victory can be achieved by more peaceful means, but that looks less and less like a possibility.

Dive bombing the corporate royalty with my bird poop...soiling their fine suits and dresses...and making their right-wing worthless without a strong left-wing! Reminding them that without natural balance and honor they cannot fly.
We must all be freebirds, flying free over their heads, listening to their voices, watching them like a hawk, and warning others as real birds do in the natural world.
I have a small spider who has taken up residence at my computer...I think I will call her Frida!
When I have moments of despair I always call upon the nature in me and around me to be my friend and comfort. When I think of all the crimes these corporate criminals have committed or plan on committing, I only need to look at the nearest mountain and know I must be like it...a rock that has survived millions of years and has witnessed the fall of dinosaurs and the rise of humanity. The strength that will persevere over time, knowing that this corporate royalty are comprised of mere mortals...they have come and they will go and nature will have the final say despite their self-serving protest.
So in these times let us become the flock of freebirds and remind them of the power of nature, our own nature and the nature that gives all life, and how that nature like a rock over time is much greater and more important than their oil and gas wars, their corporate greed, or their religious insanity. Because that sturdy rock mountain existed long before all of them and will survive long after they're gone.
Don't just be the media...be the freebird you always dreamed of being...be the rock you are by nature...be the mountain blocking their way!
Viva la Revolucion!

Supersoling: I too worry about a draft. I can understand how worried you must be with an son almost 18. My daughters are 6 and 7. I worry for them, because these wars may last years (decades). I worry for them for other reasons too, other than the war for example the environment, our freedoms, ect. I also heard "Draft" when I heard things about freedom for all nations in the inaugural. It sounded just like he is trying to get us used to the idea. Seems if they are planning on a draft, then we should be making our plans now on what we will do when its implemented.
Freebird: I have heard this before: the idea that something big may be needed to get America and the world behind war in Iran and elsewhere. Are you familiar with Jim Condit of Network America? He thinks that our govt will nuke one of our own cities to kick off a new war. It sounds too horrible to believe, but really what better way to get America all fired up for more war. It worked after 9-11.

You sound like a scared, little boy who was looking for and found a "daddy." It's really kind of cute. Cute but pathetic. It explains alot.
How nice for your friends. If the sun is shining in Florida in December, there is no need to dress warmly in North Dakota? You think capitalism creates wealth like God created man? Strongly held beliefs to you, mere theory to the rest of us. Somebody somewhere is poorer because you are richer. The stock market is definitely a zero-sum game. As a good christian, I'm sure you will donate much of that money to the tsunami victims. Don't want to be "either or" about it. The sun is always shining in Bushworld. No need to save for a rainy day, right? Your commitment to your faith is unshakeable.

Thank you Brad and everyone - I am glowing just by being "near" and listening to all your thoughts.
Freebird - I agree with you - DUMYA is insane and has some sort of death wish - a defiance of death if you will. He is not smart and probably does not know how dangerous his actions are. He thinks it's all a game. Also, he has been protected all his life -a "silver spoon" if you will. And whatever bad things happen to everyone else, they never happen to him. Also, because no matter how badly he performs (debates, etc.), people still bow and scrape around him. He thinks he's just "great". Yes, Armageddon is closer than we all think. Maybe the same can be said of his greedy friends. They can't see how dangerous they have become. They see only $$$$.
The neo-cons, with Israel, will probably bomb Iran/Syria from the air. Not requiring on-ground troops, at first. The U.N. and "rest of the world" SHOULD KNOW this. They should threaten DUMYA BEFORE this happens with sanctions, and follow thru. Every time he defies them, they should follow thru more stringently. If not, all hell will eventually break loose, and the innocent people of the world, including AMERICANS, will suffer greatly.
Paul - You live in the Tower of Babel and worship the golden calf. You cannot deceive us; you surely cannot deceive your God. You only fool yourself. You do not even read the contributions to this site. But you are on this site. God must have a message for you. Are you listening?
Atty Jimmo - I was relieved when Brad removed him. He had turned into a nuisance with long, senseless blogs, designed to take up space and waste time. But I wouldn't object to him being allowed in again if he genuinely wishes to contribute normally, even if his ideas are not likely to be popular here.

There is plenty of evidence to implicate them, but no one to investigate or prosecute them...the greatest failure of our legal and political system! We must never rest until we uncover the truth about 9/11...even if that means removing the government that prevents us from doing so!
You're SUPER Supersoling!
Peggy... very true, but if we bomb from the air, that doesn't mean those countries will simply stand by and take it. Iran is 3 times the size of Iraq and has a substantial military and air force that has not been weakened by recent wars or sanctions. I have a cousin who is Iranian. They are very proud, very nationalistic, and know how to fight. Bush war-mongers beware!

AMERICANS need the help of the rest of the world to hog-tie DUMYA, and give Americans time to get him out of office. They could hog-tie him with severe financial and any other sanctions against America. Once more American people experience hardships, or even mere inconvenience, they will want to get rid of him and the administration. I'm sorry, but some people are so shallow and will only respond to pain - so they have to get on board too. I know I have nothing useful to add, but just relieving my frustration here.

We're going to get through this, we're going to keep informed and encourage one another, and we're going to get involved in writing our congressmen and we're not going to be silent. re #97: for Supersoling and any others who are interested...
To post a link, you type something that looks kind of like this:
[a href="URL"]TEXT[/a]
The text in lower-case must be typed exactly as it appears here.
The text in UPPER-CASE must be replaced by the URL you are linking to, and the TEXT you want to display, respectively.
The square brackets ("[" and "]") must be replaced by angle brackets ("").
The remaining punctuation (the equal sign, the quotes, and the slash) must be typed exactly as you see them here.
Here's an example: my blog is at http://winterpatriot.blogspot.com ... and therefore when I want to provide a link to that URL I type something like this:
[a href="http://winterpatriot.blogspot.com"]my blog[/a]
I have used square brackets here so you can see what's happening. If I change them to angle brackets, it comes out like this:
my blog
I hope this helps. Ask more questions if you like and I will try to answer them.

Hi everybody, this is one great blog.
A word to Paul. Maybe someday, after you understand what Christ was talking about, you should convert to Christianity.
What has happened is that you and your friends have tried to merge Jesus and capitalism and you have created something that looks more like his hell dwelling evil twin.
A system based on competition, doesn't seem to be what Christ had in mind. Competition drives people apart, it puts the strong and unscrupulous on top, as is evidenced by the current rampant, lawless greed of corporations. Their greed has become so cannabalistic that they make products that kills us, poison us, give our children cancer. They do this out of expediency, for the bottom line, for money. They are eating our people, and you think you can twist this monster into the face of Christ? Go read the book. I don't belong to any organized religion and I seem to get it a lot better than you do. Read the book, look at his words and compare them to the greed you see all around you. That book is about connection to, and love of, other people. Capitalism is about shooting the other person down, conquering them, using them. It walks on the poor after it takes their money. It would walk on Jesus any day, for 2.50$.
Maybe you could come volunteer with me at my food pantry.
You would see the nicest people in the whole world. They aren't spoiled, they are very very strong because they have been tested in a way many people can't even imagine. So they have places in their hearts that are just beautiful, much more beautiful than Laura's gown or the new cadillac limousine. Lots of them work two jobs, and can't make it, because Bush and his friends won't give them a wage they can live on. ( Bush needs that forty million for his party). They really don't want to come to the food pantry, it's humiliating for them. They know this country despises poor people. About half of them have diabetes, and they don't have health insurance. I like to go there, because they really do something for me that I don't get listening to you. I don't see your friend Jesus in your behavior.
Can't you see that Bush will dump you people lickety-split if you interfere with his plans to level the whole world and lay it all bloody at the feet of his rich, corporation owning, souless bastard friends. He is using you and laughing behind your back. Wake up Paul. Go find the real Jesus.
I'd like to respond to some of the great people here and their great ideas, but I've got to go to sleep. Another day. You guys are the best.

Something for the trolls to mull over whilst hiding under the bridge. From The Brattleboro Reformer:
"BRATTLEBORO --- After years of airing conservative radio talk shows, program directors at a local AM station have decided to spin the dial towards the left.
Starting next week, listeners tuning into WKVT-AM 1490 will hear an all-new lineup of daytime programming taken from Air America Radio, a progressive talk network.
"This is basically going exactly from the right to the left," said Peter Case, the station's program director.
Ushered out the door will be the Rush Limbaugh Show, Bill O'Reilly's Radio Factor, the Howie Carr Show, the Clark Howard Show and the Lars Larson Show.
"We're in a liberal area and here you've got all these right wingers on the air," Case said about the shakeup. "It was just something we felt needed to be done."
In their places will be the Al Franken Show, the Ed Schultz Show, Unfiltered News with Rachel Maddow, the Majority Report with Janeane Garafalo and Sam Seider and the Randi Rhodes Show. Alan Colmes will round out the new lineup with a news-based program, Case said.
With the exception of Colmes, all of the new shows come from Air America, which was launched in March 2003 as an alternative to conservative dominated AM talk radio.
In two years, Air America has incorporated 41 affiliates across the nation and two satellite radio stations. In the Northeast, the network broadcasts on nine stations, including WTWK-AM in St. Albans.
Case said the idea to bring on a lineup of shows from the network was being considered by the station late last year.
Ironically, on the morning that station officials were mulling the switch, he received an e-mail from Christian Arvard, a graduate student at the School for International Training, who put in a request for the Air America programs.
"I just thought given the environment here in Brattleboro, that this is something that people would want to listen too," Arvard said.
Arvard then contacted several local activist groups about the programming, urging them to write similar requests to the station to balance out the conservative viewpoints.
"In the e-mail, I said we had abandoned the airwaves to the right and now let's take it back."
A short time later, Case said he received a veritable barrage of e-mails and phone calls requesting Air America, prompting the change in programming sooner than originally anticipated.
"Since we made the announcement, we've received probably 120 e-mails thanking us for making the switch," he said.
WKVT is owned by Michigan-based Saga Communications, Inc., according to their Web site. In total, the company holds broadcast properties in 24 states, including 53 FM and 26 AM radio stations, three state radio networks, two farm radio networks, five television stations and three low power television stations.
Case said the 1,000-watt WKVT has about a 15-mile broadcast radius in the daytime, covering from Bernardston, Mass. to the south, and Chesterfield, N.H., to east, over to Wilmington in the west and Putney to the north.
Case is optimistic about the change, which he feels will better suit the station's audience, but knows some people will be disappointed by the change.
"We'll lose a few listeners, but in the end, we hope to gain a few," he said."
Air america is the fastest growing radio station in the country 'left" now. You could be sleeping under that bridge fulltime soon.

Prescient, courageous Bradbloggers....
I think the most important thing to do now is delete as much fear of our government as possible. It only undermines our effectiveness.
Because of the hideous acts these tragic people have committed, the citizens of our country have probably developed a sense of what they will do, albeit not in the conscious mind. Like an innoculation, the invading poisons they inject have most likely resulted in a certain knowledge and immunity. We are wiser and better prepared now.
I don't think they will be able to pull off the insane machinations against us that they achieved in the first term. Our sense of survival and self protection will continue to develop.
They are completely overwhelmed with their failures and they will worsen, I'm certain, rendering them impotent. No guarantee, of course, but they are losing their grip. They simply do not have the might to wage all these wars they have planned. The people will resist the suicide mission they've been led into.
Now is the perfect time to act. We will find our strategy. I believe some brave Congresspeople will begin to move on our behalf.
Our job on the ground will be clear.
I think we just must be relentless from now on, and recharge with these meetings on the Internet. As long as our enthusiasm remains in top condition, and our fear under control, we can triumph.
This is our chance.
It is an entirely new kind of revolution. Very, very much in the mind. How fortunate for us if we can avoid guns and bloodletting. There's been enough of that.
The mental battle with the forces that oppose us is better than the physical, to me. Our opponents are everywhere. We can't hide or magically delete them. We will learn through experience how to defeat them, if they are really dangerous. Again, I think it is wise to combat our fear. As the illustrious James Cagney once said:
I DON'T TAKE NOTHIN' FROM NOBODY!
Our unfortunate President wants to spread liberty, he said, but made no mention of peace. In the wildest stretches of my imagination I can't imagine enjoying freedom while locked in a contract to kill.
Onward with the VELVET REVOLUTION!

Bluebird - re #107...
Bravo, and amen. That is exactly, exactly the world as I see it.
Fundamental to every belief system (except Satanism) that has left a written record is this one rule: Treat others with the same respect you wish for yourself.
It's in the Koran, the Upanishads, the Vedas, the Torah, the Talmud, and of course several times in the Bible.
Whether that is because it is God chose to dictate one piece of information to all writers in virtually identical words, or because this belief is hard-wired into human DNA, or because anybody who sits and thinks about right and wrong comes up with this blindingly obvious truth on their own - that's up to the individual to put that interpretation on it. The undeniable fact is that *it is true*.
Any philosophical system that does not include allowance for this fundamental rule is broken.
How much better a world we'd have if people simply understood that *this is the message*. This is morality *in its entirety*. This is humanity. Not *who sleeps with who* or *my God is better*.
Bravo again Bluebird, and well said.

That's a classic effect of Bushism in America, and precisely the opposite of what God (and even Jesus) call for in the books that Paul so ardently and hypocritically acts as if he gives a damn about."
:::::::::::::::::::::::::
Brad.......I won't miss Atty Jimmo, Jack Frost, Paul, or Mike, if they choose not to post (they could all be the same person, for all I know). I realize, as well as anyone, that there has been little of true worth in their various posts. They're not "debating", for the most part, they're "baiting".
No..what I'm thinking is in line with: "Keep your 'enemies' close, and in front of you, at all times. That way you can see what they're up to".
Paul has lied to us? True. But to make us believe something that is not true? I don't believe anything that the Karl Rove-ian creation "FrankenBush-Monster" has to say! How could I be fooled by any of the minor-league trolls that lurk here? They strictly "Bush-league"!
I'm not disagreeing with you, if you wish to ban trolls. I'm just engaging in "point-counterpoint". I will not miss reading the deluded, brainwashed ramblings of the trolls here, if you choose to delete them. I just, very humbly, would vote against it, if I were asked.
Like most on your blog, I'm far more concerned with working to keep people like Karl Rove from driving "Manchurian Candidate"-like creations, such as George W. Bush, to the forefront of power. It's not just GWB we're up against, it's a syndicate.

Brad, you are the creative master of What We Want To Know Now! journalism!!!
Just communing with my fellow patriots on the day we all tried so valiantly to preempt. I agree with you, Teresa (117) that this is a revolution of the mind. I feel so ineffective, talking and writing and feeling and analysing, but this seems to be our strength and we do not know its powers in numbers. I just read an article today at Tom Paine by Paul Rogat Loeb that said we never know the cumulative or downstream effects of our actions/words/connections. He said Nixon and Kissinger didn't **nuke** North Vietnam because of the Moratorium and Washington protests in the fall of 1969. At the time the administration publically dismissed them as unimportant. I remember at the time looking at a picture in Newsweek or Time of Nixon and Haldeman (?) looking down on the protest in the Mall from a White House balcony window, and my mother (who went from an Eisenhower Republican to a McGovern Democrat because of the turmoil over the war-and a divorce!) saying, "They look frightened." The protesters had no idea, for many years afterward, that their actions has changed history and prevented massive suffering and destruction.
We live in a world of possible futures.

Since I live in a red state, there are a few like minded individuals but no overwhelming local support (I've got Bradblog!), although this is changing as we speak. There seems to be a widespread awakening that's gotta get here sometime! It's in the air! Until it gets here I may feel more alone than a lot of people do, although, " it's getting better all the time". Until then, if I sound fearful, forgive! I AM! I'm trying to hold this state on my shoulders and it's getting fucking heavy!! Also, a little bit of circumspection doesn't hurt, however, an excess of naivete' about the people we're dealing with, might. Although they came to the same end, Thomas Moore lived a little longer than Anne Bolyen.
#122, jimmo needs a hug, thanks for providing a larger framework and doing it so well. I couldn't agree more. Every religion I've ever done reading on has agreed implicitly or explicitly that we are all ONE, all connected. When Bush squashes those people at the food pantry with the heel of his cowboy boot, he squashes his brothers and sisters, he squashes his children.

Glad I found this blog...As an old hillbilly in Idaho-(one of the most reactionary states in the union)-AND a lifelong REPUBLICAN, i.e.,a believer in "the REPUBLIC for which it stands..."I can not tell you all, how great it is to find SO MANY PEOPLE, so adamitly opposed to the fascist cabal that is running this country....An earlier post stated that.."Bush must be the reincarnation of A. Hitler!", or words to that effect---As a confirmed atheist I can buy reincarnation, but I can tell you that his grandfather, Prescot Bush, was one of the "enablers" that HELPED A. HITLER TO POWER, and later became what we now know was "the evil genius" of the Republican Party, passing his legacy down to the current dictator in D.C.....(Google can supply anyone with as much information on this subject as they might care to read)

The thing that really scares me is that this isn't any sudden awakening - listen to Quicksilver Messenger Service's "What About Me" from almost 40 years ago. Pay attention to the words! Then listen to Randy Newman's "Political Science," and tell me no one saw this coming. We all some it coming and didn't do anything about it. It has to turn out differently this time! Let's do something, now!

Czaragorn-- I completely agree. We kept our eyes closed and allowed it all to grow. Now, only with terrible imminent threats, are we finally waking up. Everytime we shut our eyes and relaxed into our insulated, personal worlds, someone was working frantically in this big evil underground government to steal our power. The "American Dream" has been a big fucking trick. How convenient for these people to have a society that sits on it's ass watching TV in it's very own home. How clever is that! Just keep people hooked into buying stuff and while they're at the mall, steal the whole show.
I know many people saw this coming, how lonely they must have been! I felt it begin with Kennedy, and I was just a child. Whatever we did to stop it, we didn't do enough. You are so right, we HAVE to do it now.

Sidney, you old hillbilly! How wonderful that you've come here.
I think it might be the end of the Prescot crap. This little dictator isn't cuttin' it.
I talked to a lot of people last week and they are not at all pleased with this creep. People either were tuning him out or expressing disgust. I think his so-called popularity is rapidly declining. Something like 39% polled think that the country is on the right track. And the inauguration will probably be the height of any popularity he can muster.
The stupid fucks, as Dick says, are wired differently and there is nothing we can do about it. They have different chemicals and hormones ... the dumb fuck hormones.. running through their Neanderthal bodies. They live in primitive fear. There are hormones, such as oxytocin, which trigger good feelings and bonding with others, and these fools have a deficit. They are the minority.
And here is an example of their thinking:
From Michael Ventura's Letters At 3 A.M.:

As for Paul and the rest, Do you have a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan? Do you know how it feels to be alone 24/7 because of your governments desire to control other countries? To not be able to celebrate your first wedding anniversary because your husband is fighting a war for profit? And not ours, let me say. His wages end up being a measley 14 dollars an hour. You know how much Family Separation is? 125 dollars per check. Thats how much they think this 7 months (so far) away from my husband is worth. He gets one hot meal a day, no laundry service and 15 minutes on the phone a week, when he can manage to wait the 2 hours in line. If these MOTHER FUCKERS in power really gave one single GOD-DAMN about the people that fight for the "Freedm" they want they would do a HELL of a lot more for them. When Bush says "freedom" he doesn't mean freedom for you and me, he means freedom for his corporate buddies to starve, control, destroy, kill, colonize, the rest of the world and it's people in their brutal quest for profit and power. Thanks for your comment about the media, Bill Moyers talks about media being controlled and owned by huge right wing conglomerates. That means of course, that we won't be getting the truth about George Bush from television. I get news from the internet, it's the only venue that's telling the truth. I was in dc thursday. thank you so much for posting the pics that show that we had a huge turnout. And that the turnout was mainly comprised of a lot of middle aged average Americans. Tons and tons of MOMS, me included. CODEPINK was very efffective with their protest in dc.
that day, what became very obvious to me, a plain average american Mom, was how we have degenerated into a police state. I stood for a few hours with a young lady and repeated "stop the wars, stop the killing" to a line of the "priviledged." The abuse that I and the young lady were subjected to by people in furcoats and stetsons was ..horrible. And there were so many police, FBI, militia, all over, and they just let it happen. I have yet to see in the media pictures of the police helicopters that hovered above the marchers, or of the immense lines that anyone w/o a stetson had to stand in, in order to get onto Pa. ave, and which precipitated the crashing of the viewing pen's fence. Again, thank you for the pics, I am going to post a link on my site.

Brad, I like the way you let everyone speak their mind. Dialogue, even when it's angry, is important in resolving problems.
When W won, I felt like someone, or something, had died. And I felt powerless to help people like Brigide who are suffering the most from the policies of W and his cronies. And while I know the state this country is in is not totally W's fault, I also know we have a government in place that continues imperialism and neglects the needs and rights of those who do not have the power or influence to be heard, much less get justice.
Every president has a choice --- use power wisely to benefit all, or use it unwisely to advantage those already in power. W chose the latter. Fortunately, we live in a country where those who believe the former is a better way to lead are able to voice their ideas.
Brad, and everyone who contributed the pictures, thank you. What I thought we, as a country, lost with the election of W was not lost. It just isn't making the mainstream media.
Peace!

Every ceremony for every past president has cost that much. SO whatzzzzzzzzzz new? Just some people that don’t understand the whole picture of good vs evil. Ya I agree 40mill is way too much for any president past present or future. But protest in lack of blindness of the media saturated prompt the whole world has gone to shit. Nah……….There is so much good going on. But only half the country sees it…Thank God for the optimistic people that have a vision past their own back yard and care about the needs of many . This is the best place to live in the whole world. The ones that don’t like it can move on to those places that need help. How would you like a civil war in your own back yard that was one sided from the dark side? Would you or not want some help? And the ones that could see it….must act or they have no purpose on this earth.
“Since our religious leaders will not speak out against
> > the war in Iraq, since our political leaders don't
> > have the moral courage to oppose it,”
What do they know , that we don’t? The answer is…they do know. How could the largest religious group of people on this earth be wrong called Christians?
That’s why they are called leaders and not followers….
Yes there are a lot of thinks that need fixing in handling foreign affairs. But there is good in this world and we need recognize those who stand for something and know what is right. There is a huge picture going on here and its not ego based. The media is ego based and they look for souls to steal.

This is to Mike: We are there dude!
ARE Americans practicing Communism?
Read the 10 Planks of The Communist Manifesto to discover the truth and learn how to know your enemy...
Karl Marx describes in his communist manifesto, the ten steps necessary to destroy a free enterprise system and replace it with a system of omnipotent government power, so as to effect a communist socialist state. Those ten steps are known as the Ten Planks of The Communist Manifesto… The following brief presents the original ten planks within the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848, along with the American adopted counterpart for each of the planks. From comparison it's clear MOST Americans have by myths, fraud and deception under the color of law by their own politicians in both the Republican and Democratic and parties, been transformed into Communists.
Another thing to remember, Karl Marx in creating the Communist Manifesto designed these planks AS A TEST to determine whether a society has become communist or not. If they are all in effect and in force, then the people ARE practicing communists.
Communism, by any other name is still communism, and is VERY VERY destructive to the individual and to the society!!
The 10 PLANKS stated in the Communist Manifesto and some of their American counterparts are...
1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.
6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State. Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than "owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.
8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country. Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production. Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" . These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share". WHERE are the words "fair share" in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or the Internal Revenue Code (Title 26)?? NO WHERE is "fair share" even suggested !! COMMENT #159 spellbinder00:
Merely citing quotations from a written work does not establish that one understands the work being cited.
Preceding the ten points cited is a long section where Marx argues that democratic freedom will always be subverted by the inexorable tendency of rampant, unchecked capitalism toward an ever-greater concentration of wealth in fewer and fewer hands. Greater concentrations of wealth, for Marx, are proof of greater economic injustice where the only freedom which gets expressed is the "freedom of the stronger to do down the weaker."
Marx himself recognizes the ten points as "despotic inroads on the rights of property," but argues that they will be necessary in order to wrest economic and political power away from the rulers of an abusive confiscatory system of economic relations where the deck is hopelessly stacked against ordinary folk --- those with only their labor to sell --- and steeply in favor of capital-owning corporate employers who write the rules and rig the game in their favor. The longer the game is played under the same set of rules, the less and less that ordinary folk have in terms of private property anyway... at some unavoidable point in the future, their chips run out and the game is over.
Finally, Marxist communism is a theory (or set of theories) of radical economic democracy which has never been practiced nor even actually tried anywhere. Parts of it have been hijacked and perverted to serve as an agreeable window-dressing which easily fools the peasantry by violent, despotic, murderous regimes... much as Christianity has been hijacked and perverted to fool the peasantry here.

Brad , there are more yea- sayers than nay -sayers supporting your collage of visual statements. Thanks for pulling this series of photos together.
The time has passed for sitting by the wayside. We see the real patriots in the streets abhoring the election's outcome. bush 's so called inauguration party was but another pimple on the ass of his corrupt administration.
Notice how the TV media failed to report on how deeply pissed off the american people really are? Seems like now is the time for Air America to get mainstream and fast!!!!
And for Mike and those of his ilk....
If you really want to stretch the definition of socialism: those poor multinationals need so much financial assistance that bush and his team have put them on welfare... corporate welfare that is.
So mikey, how do you like your hard earned tax dollars going toward padding yet another "struggling" CEO's bank account. I sure as hell don't.
And finally, you can truly see the feeling the rest of the world has toward the bushwackers through the photo collage.

We do not have freedom unless we can speak out, either negatively or positively. If we do not speak out for freedom, we will lose it. Democracy does not just represent the rich, it should represent all of us. It should encompass all races, all ethnic groups, all religions. I tend to think socialistic democracy is the way we should go. At the present time, we do not have true democracy as it should be and as long as the rich control this country, we will never have a true democracy. What Dr. Martin L. King predicted has happened and will continue unless each of us speak up and fight with passive resistance.

Do I support Bush? No. Would I have supported Kerry? No. I'm a socialist. I admit that my party may never have ground in America. I'm OK with that. I think it's so pointless that people cannot accept that Bush won. He won! Deal with it! People cannot seem to accept it. I thinks it's horribly idiotic. So many people think Bush is horrible. There have been worse. I've not talked to a single person that thinks Bush is the best president, however. Frankly, I didn't like either candidate. Does that mean I sit around moaning about how James Harris should have won? Nope. I deal with it, and move on. People just need to chill out and accept it. There's nothing they can do now, and whining is just going to piss off those that they need to go to their side. It's only four years. Mellow out. Wu wei [Taoism]. Let it happen as it happens. Go with the flow. People have overreacted. They need to admit defeat. No matter what protestors say, Bush will be in office for four years unless he is assassinated. The people voted! The democrats lost, and I lost. Oh well. There's always next election. So quit whining! Just get ready for next election. You can't change it now. Deal with it.

Hey you guys, bush promised to do some really good stuff if he won the presidentcy...oh yeah, he did last time too, and look where we are now. George Bush Jr. has to be the worst president any country in the world has ever seen. He wants another 8 billion dollars to fight the war, but what could that money do in thailand, in africa, in south america, and even right here in the old USA. My quest for the next four years is to show the red states what a bad mistake they made in voting for Bush. I mean, the grant war total is somewhere in the 120 billions of dollars, yet schools are not being funded properly here in the states. I move to change the national bird to the Emu, with its head in the sand.

Sorry, Michael. The newest Bush request is for 80 billion dollars, not 8. And the grand total for the war is way more than 120 billion. We may never know the true cost of this war, partly because a big chunk of the military budget is secret, and partly because the war may last a lot longer than any of us.
But on the other hand, I really like your idea about the Emu.

I agree with sam on one level, we need to stop bitching about the president, its over, and we can never change that. All that voter fraud complaining gets this country nowhere. If the Democrats dropped the issue, they probably did so for a reason. If we keep contesting election results, we only set our country up for pissy feelings regardless of who wins (Dem/Repub/ or Indep). I also agree that Kery was the wrong candidate for the job, but the democratic candidate never really had a chance in the first place. With all the fear the "terrorists" crap, the dem candidate was merely a sacrificial lamb. Kerry made some good points that did not go unheard, but I don't think he ever had the ability to win. Not to say I was not pulling for him. We need to stop bitching about the results and start demanding that bush follows through with the promises he made, and maybe push him to end the war

It didn't just get old and rusty and fall apart; it was deliberately vandalized for partisan political advantage. If we all decide to shut up and get over it, it will never get fixed and we will never see another free election in this country. Ever.

ARE Americans practicing Communism?
I was looking for another post and saw this. If you listen to the John Birch society, America is practising socialism and they think Geoerge W. Bush is the biggest socialist going. The incredible political naivete of Bush supporters is truly appalling. These people are the "stupid Americans" Michael Moore talked about, and sadly he was right. There are so many flavors of libertarianism and the moron whose quote I'm responding to knows nothing about any of them. For any who are interested, (not the moron, he knows everything already), this site is the best resource there is: Mike Huben's Critiques of Libertarianism
http://world.std.com/~mhuben/libindex.html
Mike Huben has been debating these evangelistic fools on line and elsewhere berfore there was AOL. Ha! Before there was an internet almost. Followers of Henry George's economics and philosophy are closer to libertarianism than Geoge Bush will ever be. Most libertarians are lucky to get elected to dog catcher. Libertarians don't have a clue about economics. And George Bush is more of a socialist than you might think. Some people actually study this stuff, not just read a pamphlet and find God.

Anyone who thinks Kerry wouldn't have been as a good or better a president as Bush had better read up on propaganda. Americans are all victims of skillful marketing and advertising. So few of you ( 50 million if you believe the propaganda) can actually think for yourselves. An original thought might die of loneliness in so many of your heads. Was Kerry perfect? Even Jesus wasn't perfect. He just tried harder. Millions of folks worship him now and he was the sacrificial lamb once, also. Real men don't bend over and take it. They strap bombs to themselves and blow shit up. That's just another possible persprective, considering gender roles and testosterone creeped into this debate. I guess Jesus wasn't a real man, and he whined at the end, too. Beware of Bushie trolls claiming to be what they are not, coming in here to seed doubt. Stolen elections, and we've had 2 now, demand prosecution as capital crimes (the death sentence can be commuted, but that's really irrelevant). These crimes are far worse than copkilling, or even 9/11.
Those who opt to "get over" such crimes become complicit with them; accessories after the fact.
An election is a survey, not a contest. There is no endpoint after which all is well, regardless of how that point was reached. And in a democracy it is the highest of misdemeanors to maintain a gov't office without the legitimate consent of the governed.
True Americans will not concede power under such condidtions. As Fundamentalist Americans, we will not rest until it is the fully recognized position of our federal gov't that for 8 years the position of chief magistrate was occupied by an appointed ruler, as opposed to an elected leader.
The five (in)justices who perpetrated the edict of Dec. 12, 2000 will be impeached and convicted, posthumously if necessary.
Those who were delinquent in their duty to nullify unlawful electors on Jan. 6th 2001 and 2005 will be identified and censured.
The historical record will be corrected. No matter how long it takes.
There is no other moral or patriotic option.

Somewhere up the chain a comment was made about Bush being a divider, not a uniter. I argue this is a false perception. He is doing a very good job with something which is hard work; he is slowly, effectively eliminating all those who are not united in his way of thinking and leadership, and dividing the spoils among the supporters. The divided will get the deficit, the burden and the emptied coffers. The united will reap the dividends, the interest and the spirited excess. Then, there will only be the united. Don't believe that's the plan? Ask an Iraqi voter's next of kin on Monday the 31st.

I disagree. How many wars has the Japanese Prime Minister started lately? How many people have been killed recently by the Japanese military? How many cities have the invading Japanese ravaged?
If Japan were waging aggressive war on the rest of the world, it would be our right to say something about it. Not only our right, but our duty.
I think it's not only their right to say something about what the USA is doing, but I believe it's their duty as well. There's nothing arrogant about it at all.
"Arrogant" is thinking that your country can commit mass murder in another country without generating any anger, or any criticism.
"Arrogant" is thinking that 95% of humanity don't matter because they don't worship the stars-and-stripes.

For all the weed pullers out there who think in some way they're doing God some kind of service for which they will reap great reward consider this verse, 31. "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34. "Then the King will say to those on his right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37. "Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38. When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39. When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40. "The King will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41. "Then he will say to those on his left, `Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

it is my unruly opinion that the fundamentalist christians, uh, i mean the republicans, as the front organization for the very horrifying fascists in power, have been working an agenda created upon successful coup d'etat, that is, the asssassination of JFK, Bobby K, MLK...
this agenda is TOO POWERFUL to break now, for instance, what news agency has town hall meetings for soldiers who are risking their prescious lives and souls "over there" for corruption "over here" that goes so deep into our pants pockets that the American Dream is now the American Nightmare.
i am a member of the Vietnam era fiasco which involved wholesale slaughter by napalm and carpet bombing of entire villiages, counties, and countries. Mostly innocents died then. A lot of American soldiers died of the same chemical weapons used on the civilians.
someone tell me what news media outlet can ask the soldiers if they think they are doing the right thing "in their heart." they couldn't be honest if they did want to be anyway.
the heart of the matter is creeping fascism. Americans are programmed by our entertainment media to kill and accept death as normal. if hitler had television he would not have needed nuclear weapons. now he has television and more and more drones are developing, now as very young people, soon as young leaders.
why can't we have an election via internet by the soldiers "over there" and here, independent from the main media liars, asking pertinent questions, somewhat anonymously, through pc units and an independent website.
i guess its not possible for free speech, dignity of opinion, the possibility for average middle earth people of the USA to have upward mobility, or even a job, and by the time all the damage is done there will be no point to complain.
argue all you want, we have a fascist government and an American Nightmare, and the great experiment in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, is dead. show me it isn't. not even one campus has been seen doing what was done in the Vietnam era. compared to that time the voice of dissent is literally silent, and all the blogging one does is useless banter.
i quit, i no longer care about anyone but myself. i want to survive so i think i'll become an islamic republican, what better token would that be for the fascists. I love Jesus, which prevents me from taking part in fighting and killing, so i turn my other cheek, i forgive my enemy, the fascists in power, and i love my loud obnoxious right wing neighbors. i will not kill and do not endorse violence in any form, and i am in this world but not of this world. Where is my qur'an, at least they tolerate jesus, my hero and role-model...
its called creeping fascism, and everyone is letting that blob engulf us!

I suggest that the owner of this blog separate the pictures from the comment threads so that the pages will load faster! The photos are great, but most of us did not come here to debate anyone's family lineage or the merits of various "-ISMs," and these comments now take up the bulk of the page. Anybody who doesn't know by now that Bush is bad news has spent the last four years in a coma.

Horkus... You must be joking me. You believe that crap? As I said, I'm not a Republican, I don't support Bush. But at least I accept the fact that he won. I don't sit and make up info, these supposed facts, to try and excuse a man's victory. He won. No matter what Democrats and other anti-Bush fanatics may roll out, he did. I accept it, and I would think you would be able to as well. The election of 2000? OK, that I can understand the whining about. Even I was taken aback at it [but then again, I've been against the idea of a representative republic for a few years now]. However, you just need to learn to accept it. Why has no one reported this information? Because there's no proof. It never happened. Enjoy the propaganda if you wish, I however, will help my party for the next election. We won't win, and I accept that, but at least we won't be sitting and crying because someone else won. [Oh, and good luck if the Republicans place Rudy Juliani as their candidate for next election. He'll be tough to beat.] In any case, enjoy BSing yourselves. It's this that proves Amerika really is starting to go down the hole.

The unmetigated gall of this dictator never ceases to amaze me. When the simplest things like clean water, food and shelter are the concerns of the tsunami victims, he sends a paultry $10,000 of his own millions for their relief, while over $40,000,000 is spent on his decadent mink coat black tie and boots affair. SHAME ON YOU Mr. BUSH (YOU ARE NOT NOW AND NEVER WERE MY President) You have no problem invoking gods name, I am certain he would never condone your barbaric acts. I've been voting in presidential elections since the 60s. I have NEVER seen protests across the country, much less around the world, on inauguration day such as we had this year - Neither have I ever before seen a U.S. president enact police-state measures whenever he visits a city in this country.
He claims it's because of 'terror' --- but we know the truth: never before has a president been so hated by the American people, and with good reason!

You guys got to get a life. There are some people that make things happen, some that watch things happen, and those that say what happened? Whine whine......whine.......the world is what you make of it. If you want it to be bad make it so. If you want it to be good make it so. Move on, and learn! Don't waste time whining about nothing you can change, that does not even effect your life. Want to effect others lifes? Go out into the world and help someone. Don't condem the ones that help out others. The media is the one that has been againest Bush from word go. Now they lost, and are adjusting to the winner, not the whiner! I hate putting down anyone, its not the way. Think of how you can help, and not condem. You want changes, find real leaders in your party. Meanwhile things will be OK. Look at the big picture. THere is more good going on than bad.

OMG, get over yourself you libral idiots. The middle east is a geographical fuse, and some sort of stabilitizing action needed to be made. If it was not Iraq, then it would be Palistine or Jordan...it needed to be done. The entire area has not seen stability since its creation in the 1930s. Pull you heads out of your idealogical asses and smell the realism. Force was required and as the global power it was our obligation from preventing a massive spread of disorder. Disorder is worse than injustice...injustice just means that there is some injustice, where as disorder makes the most simple activties (like walking to your car) dangerous. Stop being a bunch of tree-hugging ass cleaners and taking some fucking responsability. WE RULE THE ECONOMY OF THE WHOLE FUCKING GLOBE, GET OVER YOUR PETTY COMPLAINTS. If you still are content on protesting, go fuck yourselfs with a .223 in the skull. Do the fucking world a favor. To face the protest that Bush will make the US Dollar collapse, that will never happen. Our foriern investors will not let that happen. The min. the dollar collapses, the whole fucking world goes bankrupt and we use more force to retain the illegitimate revolutions. In conclustion, stop thinking about what the world should be and open your eyes to what the world is. There is no such thing as peace, peace is mearly a reloading period between wars. Wars sculpt and elimate weaker societies. The fucking end...if you have any questions as to this post, please educate yourselves so that you have a actuall argument when you send a responce.

Nice to see some of this information actually being shown to Americans. Most of our broadsheets included a montage of these sorts of images, and I wondered what the American press would do. Sometimes it's difficult for those of us outwith the USA to understand and remember just how limited your news output, and hence personal information input, can be. Heaven knows we're all receiving input censored to varying degrees, wherever we are (I am in UK). Listening to the BBC during the daytime, for instance, when the audience is largely UK-based and hence programming caters mainly to UK areas of interest, is generally good. Listening to the World Service overnight, however, can add a very different angle of illumination.
And so strange to hear the term Liberal used as an insult! Here it means those who are intellectually and politically /balanced/woolly enought to be stuck seeing both sides of an arguement. In America it appears to translate as Spawn of the Devil. Keep spawning, chaps!

Well, it was not ment as an insult. I am only working off the fact that through out the history of our nation, radical libral (A.E. those who put the sign up) Have take our right to voice our oppinion too far. Vietnam, the largest and longest battle of the cold war. Radical librals demonized the soldiers, calling them baby killers. First Iraqi conflict, librals called for longer talks and less violence, while the Iraqi army was reaping upon the napoleonic soldiers pay (raping, looting, and drinking) I am an independant that tends to lean toward the libral side, and yet still I condem their tactics. However, I must agree with you, the american press is too censored. It seems as though the majority of humans just want instant gratification, rather than hearing what is happening. These protest pictures invoke the wrath of realism. It seems that those who work towards the eventual end of conflict are tagged war criminals (Henry Kissinger, for example). As with instant gratification, people want peace now. The only way to obtain world co-operation is to eliminate oposing ideologoies. In WWII we defeated Facism, in the cold war we defeatd communism, and now we must defeat the instilled sense of tribal-realations. The word libral is not ment to translate to the spawn of satan, but rather idealists who refuse to accept what is going on. I may be a realist, but I reconize the evil in humans. Our hubris is that we are greedy. I too lived in England, chap, I too wittnessed the libral movements. But alow me to remind you oh your cultural past. In the early 1800s your country made it so that people could not protest, or distribute pamphlets. The british system is that that works upon the equation of order=injustice+fear. Your country has destroyed its environment, shipped orphans to austraila with false hopes of parents and create the very country that America is fighting in. Remember the Massacre of Peterloo. Your government is every bit as conservative as any. For all those who think that the world could be better, it can. But first you must embrace the current world inorder to secure a safer one.

Actually, the Nazi party was never really overthrown. That's like sying the Democratic party was overthrown when Al Gore lost the 2000 election. Hitler's regime was overthrown in 1945 by the Russians, but the party still exists today. I am a member.
Also, while different, Hitler turned the Nazi party of his day into a Facist party when he took over, so in his day, it was Facist. The party now, however, is not. That was one man's sick ideals...
Also, Nazi is not in all caps, as it does not actually stand for National Socialist German Workers Party. That is the NSDAP. The word 'Nazi' derives from the first two letters of the German word for National, and the second to letters of the German word for Socialist. Na and zi. Nazi.
Oh, and please, don't begin to flame me for being a National Socialist. Really, I don't want to debate my point in this disorganised setup. If you wish to debate that with me, let me know here, and post your email so I can email you to begin the debate. Thanks.

This may be my altered DNA, or my "nature", but I don't seem to remeber any liberals now bitching about going to war...it will be very difficult for you to free him without a gun and training you mistaken "rebel". What you liberals seem to not understand is that we are THE GLOBAL HEGEMONIC POWER!!!, if we were to give up our hegemonic power, it would lead to global balkanization to an extream. It would create a power vacuum that no one would be able to fill. The world would fall into chaos as groups formed based upon culture, religion, and ethnicity and began tribal warfare to the point where modern society is destroyed and humans complete rape the earth of all resources so that you can kill the person across the tribal line from you. By the way... I am sure not one person went to Auschwitz happy. Also, I believe it was we republicans who went to war with the Facist ideology not, you tree-hugging, flower throwing, protesting while high and leaving early so that you can go commit immoral acts using your diseased genitalia. Also, if you are so enlightened, how do you propose we leave our current state, eh? How do we leave Iraq...if we did there would be two weeks of parades and parties...then a massive cival war between two muslim groups which would open way to a legitimate open battle with all other muslims creating a massive, global war. And then guess what...thanks to your mandates made in the early 1990's, we would have to enter as a peace force. So take your pick... we follow the realist ideal or we set flame to the largest religious conflict since the Spanish Inquisition. Also, might I make it clear that I am not sure you understand what it is that we are dealing with. A possible solution to the Iraqi problem is to move in with our friends the Kurds, build an air-strip, wall of Iraq and withdraw every United States citizan, partol the wall, allow only united states air drops for supplies, and give them guns. In two weeks they would kill half their nation off. It would be more deaths than the first year of world war I for the Russians. When two people are left we shoot them and call it quits. It is not that they are bad people, but they do not want us there and they can't operate under a non-oppresive government. We are fighting against an ideal, and as someone once said, you cannot destroy an idea with guns.If you want to go to the front line and throw flowers and dance be my guest, but you will find that 7.62X38mm HP full metal jacket does not hug back.

If you want to praise a station that deludes and poisons, then so be it, but know that your praise is unfounded.

To Whom It May Concern:
Do not get me wrong, war is not a good thing at all and has untold damage on all aspects of our everyday lives.
What the American people must remember is that the United States was not the one who through the first punch. We the people of America were attacked even before 9/11.
In several friendly nations, our embassies have been bombed and defaced, our people kidnapped and murdered by hate groups who wish only to destroy our way of life and exterminate us from the face of the earth. Yet no one will protests for the victims whose lives were lost in these bombings and murders. They are just thrown aside and forgotten.
These hate groups care not that the United States helps hundreds of millions of people every day in more ways than anyone could ever imagine and enhances lives for Americans and non-Americans alike.
Totally blaming the war in Iraq on our President G. W. Bush is mind less and ignorant. There are countless factors that caused the invasion of Iraq to be executed. People who shift the blame on G. W. Bush and his staff are only looking to place their sorrows, distress and fears on someone.
Everyone knows that Saddam was a horrible and evil dictator, who was committing crimes against humanity on a daily bases.
Where were the protests agnates this?
Why was nothing done on an international level?
Who is really to blame?
How many innocent lives does it take to finally step in and say “We can not let this happen to our brothers and sisters”?
To anyone who reads this message, please feel free to share you comment and questions with me, but please do so in a peaceful and professional manner.

Bartley, you need to read some more history and find out why so many people hate America. I'm not justifying terrorism, only saying that it is hypocritical of anyone in the U.S. government to play "wronged innocent."
Such people sound like the Japanese who talk about World War II only in terms of how much they suffered, not about the suffering they inflicted on other countries. (Although, like present-day Americans, average Japanese people in the 1930s and 1940s were fed only "good news" about their country.)
I suggest starting with the following books. The ones with stars may be out of print, but are probably available in your public library.
*The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence--Victor Marchetti
*Endless Enemies--Jonathan Kwitny (now deceased, but was a Wall Street Journal reporter)
A People's History of the United States--by Howard Zinn
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man--I forget the name of the author, but this is currently available in bookstores
Read these books, and then honestly see if you still agree with everything you've written above.

But the American people reelected his silverspoon born, Abu Ghraib affiliated, educated fool-degree toting, weapons of mass destruction buying, receipt holding, Iraq funding, pimping the country, whoremonger-warmonger, capitalist, corrupt Capitol Hill, drunk Jack Daniels drinking ass again so somebody must love him regardless of him cheating to win. I really thought Kerry was going to win, shit, P. Diddy was even campaigning. Hell, Kerry is his cousin, and that copout didn't want to finish counting the ballots. So he is a quitter, and I wouldn't want him to be President anyway either. Excuse me, i'm just pissed. Fuck being human angry, I'm dog mad - like pitbull mad. ** I am writing a book of poetry, some poems which convey the retardness of electing Bush as President but then the American people being mad about how he dealt with the Katrina victims, how he spent $40 mil on his inauguration but he has homeless people living on his front lawn at 1600 Penn, how gas prices are going up, how he keeps sending troops to Iraq then has the nerve to extend tours, etc. I like you am mad as hell. So please when the book drops 2006 go pick it up. Its controversial no doubt, but then again who likes to get lied to. I don't --nothing but truth people. People are going to love to hate me, but at least they will know I'm not lying and I'm only speaking for the American people. Bush really is full of that shullbit.
