Brad,
Ask why the republicans keep filibustering the Iraq war issue.
They used to repeat the 109th Congress mantra "all we want is an up or down floor vote".
In the 110th Congress they have filibustered over 40 times and even as I post, are getting ready to filibuster the vote on the Levin / Reed amendment.
And ask the democrats who did the qui tam against the electronic voting machine companies how the qui tam is going.
These matters are of public concern.

JGideon reported last week on the exchange between the CA Secretary of State and ESS voting machine company, which is the vendor to the most populous part of CA, namely LA. At issue was an ESS warning sent to the escrow company Iron Mountain, advising IronM that ESS would bar Iron M from letting the Secretary of State's IT experts read the escrowed code from the same build as the LA voting machines. This riled the CA SoS; and it seemed yet more suspicious that ESS attempted to mollify our astute SoS by sending her some 'equivalent' software, just not the bonded escrowed software. I wonder if Gideon and BradBlog have heard whether the SoS has had to take IronM to court to compel production of the escrowed software. Here is the link https://bradblog.com/?p=4784 to Gideon's article on BradBlog last week.

Inhofe was scary. Psychotic.
But I think it was stuntish. It was pretty clear that lots of Democrats are not very interested in leaving Iraq. They, some of them, just want to appear as though they do.

Late update on TPM link: Lead headline on the website of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "Filibuster Fails to Force Iraq Vote." Huh?

Sounds loud and clear here (hear - get it!).
Newsflash - Temecula (a city in Riverside County) ballots asking voters to decide on a tax levy to maintain services went out with two options - yes and no. However, only the "No" option had a box to check, no box to check for "yes" Only in Riverside County. http://www.nctimes.com/a...rnian/4_03_207_17_07.txt.
And now, from www.blackboxvoting.org, Jerry Berkman checks in reporting that he found 17 precincts in Riverside County with zero (0) registered voters where one vote or two were cast in each precint. One with four registered voters reflected 5 votes.
CA law requires precincts to have no more than 1,000 registered voters, but Jerry checked the Statement of Vote (SOV) and found that 417 precincts had more than 1,000 voters and 6 precincts had over 2,000 registered voters.
I guess this would validate the commendations of the Blue Ribbon committee that while there were problems, Barbara Dunmore has done a fantastic job in here three plus years on the job. You decide!
Enjoy!

and some of those deported LEGAL immigrants served their time, paid their debt to society and were released. AFTER the fact doesn't make sense. minor children who are American citizens, breaking up the family without even a cursory hearing, doesn't make sense.

I'm getting a little tired of the conflation of immigrants with "hard-working".... It looks to me as though they are no more or less hard-working than anyone else. Plenty of them not "working" at all.

Brad,
Thank you for the Moyers Transcript. We're down here in Costa Rica with only dialup so ...
No TV or Cable either.
1. It seems like Impeach Cheney is gaining steam. I certainly agree with that. Forget about Bush ...
2. Brad, how likely do you think it is that some national emergency will occur which will prompt the Unitary Executive to invoke all of the powers congress and the decider has given to the president.
And that the election will have to be postponed!!
[I always think when I consider this that Cheney cannot afford to leave office. He's committed many crimes... U.S. and International. An independent AG could make his life 10% of the hell he has created for hundreds of thousands of people around the world.]
So Isn't Impeachment Important NOW??

A Seattle Whistleblower Needs Your Help!
Help Needed for a Seattle Whistleblower!
One of the whistleblowers, I wrote about in my posts needs a good criminal attorney in the Seattle area. His website is www.thelastinspector.com
The large Aerospace Giant that he has made allegations against (parts, safety inspection fraud etc.) has decided to play hard ball ostensibly to shut him up and to frighten the rest of their employees so they won’t talk, not even to federal investigators. So they are making a very big example out of the whistleblower. If any more people who know things start talking it seems, they may have a lot to lose. So it appears they are aggressively going on the offensive. The company may have a lot to lose, considering the terms of the settlement and conditions I have been told they must meet, after the $615 million dollar fine they paid over two other cases not too long ago. (See previous postings regarding this.)
I was contacted by this whistleblower today to update me about his situation. The whistleblower was arraigned today, and charged on 16 counts of computer trespass. His plea was innocent. It would appear that King County Prosecutor’s office may be quite cozy with the very large Aerospace Company that the whistleblower reported for violations of safety standards and requirements. He has spoken to several attorneys but they all want a lot of money up front. (The one who approached him after the arraignment today told him he wanted $100,000 up front before he would even talk to him about the case.
This whistleblower has a wife and several children and has been unemployed and unable to get past the damage done to him by his company to get employment in his area of skill and expertise. Things are really difficult for his family. It would be a real travesty, if his old employer were able to derail justice for him in this matter as well as in the alleged activities involving safety of airplanes due to parts irregularities, failure to conduct inspections with integrity and some other issues. If they can do this, it does not bode well for any of us.
If you are an attorney or can recommend an attorney, please let me know flyover_27@yahoo.com. I will email or phone the references to him immediately.
Remember if you have any knowledge of wrongdoing in a defense contractor or the federal government you can make a report to several organizations to ask for help. I have listed several of these in earlier posts. POGO (Project On Government Oversight) even has an anonymous report form, where you can contribute tips or specific information anonymously. Please consider doing this if you are aware of wrongdoing, fraud, or? Your name will not be used. Your tips or reports may very well help someone else as well as you, if you make this effort. You can go to www.pogo.org and then go to Report Fraud or Wrongdoing. There is an area to click to report anonymously. If you are willing to stand up, then there is another form to fill out so they can have you work with them to right the wrong.
Thank all of you for your help and support of this whistleblower!
