I believe Comment 3 by Floridiot is correct. The software is loaded and ready to go. In California, it is legal for poll workers to take a voting machine home. And it gets worse.

Where I live in Contra Costa county, according to the sources at the registrar, our ES&S M100 scanners have two ports, unguarded, unchecked, unsealed, going HOME WITH POLL WORKERS!!!! Just plug in your PC and away you go.

The only good news is that we have paper ballots, but good luck in getting a recount.

You can't close tags left open from comments anymore guys.... The new software doesn't do that one. If something's out of whack, I usually catch it, but sometimes I suddenly fall asleep and stay that way for hours and hours. Other times I walk on the beach or go to the grocery store. So.
