UPDATE: See the update at the end of this article describing the injunction now received from a New Mexico judge enjoining the Republican party in the state from making phone calls to non-Republican voters in the wake of what appears to be wide-spread dirty tricks in the state, aimed at Hispanic voters by the GOP.
The following email has been sent to various listservs by the party who received these phone calls. It is only one complaint from one party but it is probably indicative of phone calls made to hundreds of voters in the state of New Mexico. Everyone needs to be wary of any phone calls alerting them to last minute changes of polling places. Call your county to find out if there are any changes and then call 1-866-OUR-VOTE and report the incident:
Republican Party of NM telling me that my polling location was John Adams
Middle School. My polling place is usually Longfellow Elementary about 1
block away. John Adams is about 7 1/2 miles away. In my horror and disgust
I quickly deleted the message.
Thinking that maybe my polling place changed, I then called the **Republican
Party** here and simply asked if they could tell me my polling place. They
asked my address only, I told them, and they said, “You vote at Longfellow.”
This is correct and I hung up.
About 5pm MST, the Republican Party of NM called AGAIN and left a message
telling me that my election day polling place was West Mesa High School,
even further away than John Adams. They gave the full address and zip code.
My Caller ID shows “REPUBLICAN PART.” I DID NOT DELETE THIS MESSAGE.
Then around 7pm MST, the same thing happened. The Republican Party of NM
called and left a message telling me that my election day polling place was
back to John Adams Middle School. My Caller ID shows “NEW MEXICO VICT.” I
did a Google search on the phone number and this entry came up:

at (505) XXX-XXXX to find out what you can do to
help our 2006 Republican candidates. …

If you want the actual phone numbers, I can give them to you.
I’ve heard that this has been happening in other parts of the country, and I
want to help get the word out that it’s happening in NM. I called TV news
stations, contacted the newspapers, and progressive talk show hosts. I’m
warning people to be on the lookout. Please help me spread the word.
Follow-up: The aggrieved party contacted DNC attorneys who got an injunction against the state Republican party to stop them from giving polling location information to non-Republican voters. There is thought that voters with Hispanic surnames were targeted.
The judge who issued the injunction via cell-phone while she was at a basketball game, has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow. The Dems need to have more voters who will step forward and join in the lawsuit.

UPDATE BY John Gideon 8:45AM: We have just been contacted about the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) that we reported was issued last evening. In fact that TRO was withdrawn by the judge after the Republican Party of New Mexico called and claimed that the phone calls were just “innocent mistakes”. There is no injunction or any other decision at this time. It is being reported that a judge will hold a hearing at 10:30 local time this morning. It is also being reported that the “innocent mistake” was also made with at least six people who have stepped forward.
In an article on this issue from the Santa Fe New Mexican and the Associated Press the following is reported:
“”It was one woman,” she explained late Sunday. “There were three other people in the voter file with the same name. The volunteer said ‘Hi’ and identified herself and left a phone number. She (the voter) called back and said this is who I am and gave her address and we gave her the correct information.”
“Kramer called the allegations “preposterous” and said: “That’s outrageous to try to file a junk motion to get us to stop (calling voters).””
What Ms. Kramer fails to explain is who made the two phone calls from the GOP offices that followed the incident she reports. An “innocent mistake” once, but three times it is no longer “innocent” or a “mistake”.
Having growing up in NM, I can assure you all that NM Republican’s are truly full of shit and not to be trusted.

I hope they can get a normal person at each of the polling sites, who has a list of appropriate precincts where voters should vote. This will likely make many late for work or arrive too late to vote.

If this goes to court the only thing that will ensure victory is physical records which will beat out any oral testimony given by the criminal.
Courts love paper records, signatures, pictures, audio tapes, etc.
They are scambling like crazy to steal votes in every little way they can. Pathetic.
Do your employers not have to give you paid time off to vote? Here (Canada) they have to give us three consecutive hours to vote unless the following four conditions are met: the employer is a company that transports goods or passengers by land, air or water; the employee is employed outside his or her polling division; the employee is employed in the operation of a means of transportation; and the time off cannot be allowed without interfering in the transportation service
How pathetic are they? They must know that they are so dispised they could never actually win an election. No wonder they’ve screwed things up so bad – they are SO LAME.
Having said that, last election they got to keep every seat they stole. They will steal more again, will we let it stand?
People have now been convicted for the voter fraud they committed, both in Ohio and in New Hampshire, among other places. But, despite the proven fraud, those elections were not overturned.
Does anyone really think that they care about losing a few fraud cases if they get to keep the seats they stole?
When they do it this time, what are we going to do? Are we going to whine and complain and let them take what they stole AGAIN?
GWN (#5): If they made employers give time off to vote, it would imply that voting was important and should be done. Why not just have a national holiday? Or a three-day voting period including a weekend? Naw. The fewer people who vote, the easier for them to steal, which is why Republicans are so big on voter supression.
We must vote Democratic in MASSIVE NUMBERS and then stand up and force them to count the votes.
If we don’t take the house, nothing will matter. NOTHING! Some minor criminals will go to jail, but the rest will go free and our Democracy will be GONE for a generation or more, perhaps forever.
The republicants are more than pathetic, they are criminal. Values? What values? They can’t possibly win legitimately so they have to use extreme measures. What I want to know is why ANYONE would vote republican now?

Upon reading the text, it would seem the reason that the voter called the Republicans is because they called him to tell him that his usual polling location was “changed”, and he looked up the number on caller ID. He returned their call because he was suspicious. Crazy, I know.
Here in Olympia, WA. (Thurston co.) all votes are done by mail, period…no annoying robo-calls or last minute dirty tricks, or changing the poll precincts..how ever I assume the votes are still tabulated on a machine…I don’t see why it couldn’t be done in other counties….

So it begins…Why does anyone think this year will be different? They already stole 2 presidential elections (wide scale fraud). You really think they cannot steal House elections (small scale fraud). This is the same group that managed to legalize warrantless wiretaps, suspend habeas corpus, ban books like “America Deceived” from Amazon, detain demonstrators and start 2 illegal wars based on lies. The Republicans will probably lose a few seats to make it look good but maintain a majority. Then they’ll invade Iran on behalf of Israel.

NeoCon, get your head out of your ass and learn to read. If Scumpublicans call and lie to you about your polling place, when you call (and they don’t know your affiliation when you call), they will give you VALID information because you MIGHT be a REPUKE trying to find out where you vote.. duh?
And, there are no mechinisms in place to “undo” an election, fraud or not. Apparently, once Congress swears in their boy, regardless of if the vote was finished or proper or certified, that’s that. That means, technically, the Pukes with their current majority could “swear in” all the Pug candidates and not have election “results” at all. That is, if one is to believe the California Courts who say they can’t make sure a count is certified before releasing a candidate to Congress for swearing in.
If, by the Court’s ruling in CA, we don’t have any real means to verify the proper person went to Congress, then we have no “Democracy” in this country. Then our votes are a farce, and have been for over 200 years. I guess we have to decide if the brain dead Judge in that case was right, or 200 years of precident. Personally, I don’t think Congress gets to make what ever calls they want because that pulls the Judiciary completely out of the loop. And to interprit the Constitution to imply that Congress gets to do what ever it damn well pleases in these matters is to say that, at the end of the day, Congress, not the people, controlls our governmnet.
But.. still.. nothing will happen until Joe Schmoe decides his government has pissed on him enough. Nothing will happen until we take to the streets and demand justice. And while we have a debtor nation middle class, that isn’t gonna happen. Too many people are afraid they will lose their SUVs and boats and campers and nice houses and retirement packages and have to live in the streets.. and since most of the middle class looks down their noses at people who are down on their luck, they REALLY don’t want to be there. Not wanting to risk anything means we’ll be in a total fascist state before long, just like the U.S.S.R. . We’ll be the U.S.S.A. before long, watch.
If the voter called Rebublicans to find out his correct voting place, then he is probably registered with Rebublicans, isn’t he.

**** I am the woman from Albuquerque who reported these three calls from the GOP that occured on 11/04. I am a registered GREEN. THERE IS NO REASON THAT THE GOP WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HELPING ME GET OUT TO VOTE!
In the above AP report, Marta Kramer, executive director of the state GOP, was wrong when she said that I identified myself when I called them. I only gave my address and the woman that answered the call had no time to look me up. She just gave my poll place based on address. My reason for doing this was to ensure that they KNEW my correct polling location based upon my address and they did. After that call I received the two calls that I recorded giving me TWO DIFFERENT INCORRECT POLLING LOCATIONS.
Marta Kramer was also incorrect to say that the volunteer said Hi only. Two out of the three times the caller used my first name.
I was in court with the Dem Party all day yesterday working on the restraining order. We failed with a Republican Judge Knowles, even though we had around 10 witnesses and additional sworn affadavits and additional reports! The Republican Party had one sworn affadavit admitting to making mistakes and no live witnesses. I am in the process of doing interviews and correcting all the incorrect information out there.
