I think the Iran drumbeat is getting scary. Juan Cole wrote a piece a week back or so saying that an Iran attack is not a realistic possibility, but I can't see it that way. Would it make sense? No. But did the Iraq war make sense? This administration has already shown that it prefers to make history than to learn from history.

Phil:
That drumbeat is getting louder and louder. It is deja vu all over again with the Iraq WMD's.
This time will be a little scarier because Iran and Iraq have probably been drawing up plans together in anticipation.
But I have faith in the Busheviks power over the rest of the world. If they can fool so many Americans, they can fool the whole world, right?

The world isn't fooled, that's for sure!
New better news you can use!
While the frauds attempt to wage another, possibly their last illegal war
The truth movement is going to town on Election Fraud!!!!
Washington Lawsuit by Landshark/Paul Lehto succeeds in barring Sequoia secrecy priveledge
This landmark priveledge, was to ensure that under HAVA Sequoia could file to demand that the vote counting is done in secret.
But, several provisions in HAVA show this unconstitutional and Sequoia has lost this suit battle.
The war is far from over, because the state court will hear the full case. Sequoia is trying to force the counties, to not release any source code. Evidently there's alot ot hide.
Ohio has bitten back strong by forcing a ballot initiative onto the ballots that will completely de-centralize the elections in this state.
This could force the entire district to stop cold in its tracks, and put a real election system in place with paper ballots.
Lawsuit filed in Federal Court, to reform the entire Ohio system
Unprecedented Challenges in Federal Court, dismissed lawsuit seeking to bar ballot initiative changes. Three initiatives would bar gerrymandering
The end of the road, for Ohio State v. J. Kenneth Blackwell....
Once the fraud is removed, and votes are fair than everyone will need to simply show up. That's the key to getting any progressives into office.

The Whispering Campaign has posted about a dozen new articles over the past few days. Many have to do with Cindy Sheehan in Crawford, although some do deal with other topics.
As usual, they are condensed versions of longer articles, set in a large font and formatted to fit on a single page. And you can print each one with a single click.
We make them easy to print, easy to copy, and easy to read. Our readers seem to like it that way, and we're happy to oblige.
If you believe, as we do, that education is the key to getting ourselves out of this mess, this is a fun and easy way for you to help that process along.
So ... If you haven't visited our site recently, please do so: print out a few articles, make some copies and distribute them quietly by leaving them in public places where others will find them, and read them.

After this latest suspicious election in Ohio, I'm thinking... maybe we should just hire our own hackers.
Surely there's a way to hack into any central tabulator and insert some code that defeats any tampering--for example, a sudden point surge of a certain percentage in favor of a Republican could be immediately attenuated.
Obviously this is completely illegal and immoral. It's also fighting fire with fire and maybe the only way the Dems can win in '08.

9/11 is the answer. you expose 9/11 for the cadre of lies it is, you expose the whole fucking government. 9/11 was an inside job. wake up people, dont be afraid to be called a "conspiracy theorist" when the real conspiracy is that 19 muslims killed 3000 people and brought this country to its knees. NORAD allowed them to fly without any fear of being shot down for a reason. like Paul Wolfowitz said, we need a new pearl harbor. well 9/11 was it.

I think the two major topics going on right now are:
1. The Iran drumbeat - CNN is really complicit in this. Does the company that owns CNN also own and companies that would profit from war?
2. The rightwing bloggers out in force, defending their smearing of the mother of a fallen American soldier. It keeps getting bigger and bigger. I think they're going to change their mind about jailing her, that would be big news. I haven't seen any stories on TV news about this mother, have you?
I agree with the comment above. Get our own hackers. If hackers from both sides made a mockery of the 2006 & 2008 elections, it would make the news and bring about vote change. If there's only hackers for the GOP, nothing will change because they control all politics, and they will continue to via hacking.

Thanks WP.
Here's a recent Op-Ed in the LA Times (which I previously linked)-- Mortgaged to the House of Saud. It's not exactly news, but does a great job of laying things out.
It certainly fits with explanations as to why Bin Laden "eluded" capture.
But at the same time, "conspiracists" are bringing forward thoughts/ evidence (some worth considering, some probably too off-the-wall) about an Israel/ Israeli connection with 9-11 and Iraq war.
It's far from obvious to me how/why Saudi Arabia and Israel (or their agents) both would have been involved in a common goal. What am I missing here? Really looking for thoughts and information.
Thanks, VG

Jon - Re #8 - Assuming you are serious...I'll tell you the same thing I told my son - volunteer! It's the best way to make contacts, the best way you can make sure you're more than a name on a resume.
In the political field, campaigning is a good "foot in" - volunteer to help the person who most represents your views on issues - they don't forget. Send letters/email/faxes to your local, state, and federal representatives giving your opinion when there is a vote due, and don't forget to send a thank you when the person votes your way.
(You might get a response, but don't expect one, especially if you disagree with them - I figure Bill Frist must filter my email by now *laughin*)
On a local level, after awhile you might look into running for city council or school board - they are in DESPERATE need of people willing to work to make changes.
Of course, if you're looking for an easy in and to get rich quick, you'll have to take the "friends and family in high places" route.

Ignore the moans and groans of a skull&bones boss for special prosecutor Fitzgerald. His former boss Comey, was given all the power of US attorney general over this case when John Aschroft recused himself. Comey then gave all those powers to Fitzgerald, specifically shielding him from any kind of oversight or review from the DOJ or anywhere else. Legally, regarding his investigation, he cannot be touched - and he has broad authority to extend it WHEREEVER he deems fit.
Why do you think they HAVEN'T ALREADY tried to bring him to the house or senate floor for questioning (as some had considered) or even replaced Comey or fired Fitzgerald? Because he has complete legal authority & this has already been unconditionally agreed upon by the GAO as "legal & proper".
IGNORE the assholes in the msm who keep putting out all this crap:
(1) "he's gonna be fired" (nope, legally can't be)
(2) "they gonna replace his boss w/S&B (won't matter, he already was given complete power of US Attorney General in this case)
(3) "his term as Attorney general expires in October (yes, as US Attorney General for the Northern District of Illinois - he has unlimited authority to continue his investigation as long as he sees fit)
I guess its easier for the media to lie and pretend that the investigation is somehow going to be muted, but the facts and law say something different.

"A number of political observers and activists today sounded “a red alert” after allegations surfaced this week that Vice President Dick Cheney has ordered Strategic Command (STRATCOM) to make contingency plans for a nuclear strike against Iran in the aftermath of another “9-11 type attack” on the United States."
“Vice President Cheney’s office has specifically told the Pentagon that the military should be prepared for an attack on Iran in the immediate aftermath of ‘another 9-11.’ ”
“Vice President Dick Cheney, with the full collusion of the circles of British Prime Minister Tony Blair unleashed the recently exposed plans to stage a preemptive tactical nuclear strike against Iran.
Then Yesterday there was an article from the Pentagon claiming Iran had 4,000 centrifuges to enrich uranium - sorry can't find the link anymore Saw it at Netscape News- while at the same time the IAEA states that Iran has no nulear weapons program:
http://www.informationcl...use.info/article9706.htm
Then This from this morning: Iran breaks seals U.N. on nuclear facilities

Jim #7 - that is an excellent idea!! Dueling hackers would surely bring attention to the problem!! If the tabulators can be hacked in to via modem, and as Bev Harris has shown, the passwords are easily accessed, why hasn't anyone thought of this before?? I think it's brilliant!! There's no way the radical regressives will remain quiet if Dems are hacking the vote and they in turn will be exposed!!
Also, most disturbing thing I've been hearing the last few days - the talking heads on the corporate cable "news" shows talking about Martial Law if we're attacked... Someone on CCN said Aaron Brown was talking about it last night and someone else had been talking about it either yesterday or day before. Are we being forewarned?

"WHO IS ADVANCED VOTING SOLUTIONS? - Advanced Voting Solutions (AVS, formerly known as Shoup Voting Solutions) sells a line of touch pad and elections support systems and software known as WINvote. The "WIN" in WINvote stands for Wireless Information Network, which is the "technology baseline on which all components of the AVS voting system function." AVS claims that the WIN technology "dramatically simplifies polling place procedures and enhances the security and integrity of the process." While wireless technology should theoretically simplify procedures, the Fairfax County experience indicates that it can also add complications. As for enhancing security and integrity, WINvote technology is implemented using cellular communications. Cellular communications are quite trivial to intercept and/or divert, and the WINvote implementation of cellular requires that it be in an "always available" mode. Not only does this allow real time monitoring of election results (illegal), but also allows a reasonably sophisticated operator to alter voting results during transmission. But according to Bryan Finney, government relations coordinator for AVS, "There really is no way a hacker could break into this during the few minutes that this is up. That's a virtual impossibility." Mr. Finney clearly doesn't know how cellular technology works."
Look how fast John Kerry flip flopped!

Here's an interesting article - is this the latest chapter of Reagan's (now bu$h's) Irangate?
Halliburton Sold Iranian Oil Company Key Nuclear Reactor Components
Published Date: 2005/8/6 13:25:28
© 2005 Jason Leopold
Scandal-plagued Halliburton --- the oil services company once headed by Vice President Cheney --- sold an Iranian oil development company key components for a nuclear reactor, say Halliburton sources with intimate knowledge into both companies’ business dealings.
Halliburton was secretly working at the time with one of Iran’s top nuclear program officials on natural gas related projects and sold the components in April to the official's oil development company, the sources said.
Just last week, a National Security Council report said Iran was a decade away from acquiring a nuclear bomb. That time frame could arguably have been significantly longer if Halliburton, whose miltary unit just reported a 284 percent increase in its second quarter profits due to its Iraq reconstruction contracts, was not actively providing the Iranian government with the means to build a nuclear weapon.
With Iran's new hardline government now firmly in place, Iranian officials have rounded up relatives and close business associates of Iran's former President and defeated mullah presidential candidate Hashemi Rafsanjani, alleging the men were involved in widespread corruption of Iran's oil industry, specifically tied to the country's business dealings with Halliburton.

Thanks for the two references- I'm going to repost them as clickable links in case anyone is lazy.
Why AIPAC Indictment Is Bad News for Rove by David Corn. This certainly adds a new dimension to the Rove case- and David Corn is first-rate, IMHO.
**** Plame leak damaged a major CIA investigation linking senior Bush administration officials to WMD proliferation. **** Like most of the Madsen articles I've tried to read, this is difficult follow-- especially the part about the links between Israel and an Islamic faction. I'm still trying to understand if there's a coherent "big picture" linking Israel and the Saudis.
However, I've read elsewhere about the alternative view re: the actual reason for outing Plame- her WMD investigation getting too close for comfort for the WH- not that it has to be either/or- (also to punish Wilson). This makes a whole lotta sense-- that is in terms of how the WH operates-- and, as Corn points out, another way that Rove co. might be prosecuted.
Thx.

Click on the (CLICK HERE for help adding links in coments & much more!) just above the box where you type in your comment on Bradblog.
In the window that opens:
1. Paste your copied link where it says, "Link URL"
2. Either copy the title of the article or type in your own choice of subject (i.e. LINK) and then ...
3. Paste (or type) that where it says, "Link Text"
4. Press the button that says, "Generate HTML"
5. Copy the generated HTML code in the next line down
6. Paste that into your Comment on Bradblog!
7. Preview your comment & click on your newly made link(s) to make sure they work.
That's all you have to do!

Thanks for the tips. Turns out I really can't make sense of any Madsen commentary, and the second link was to a "members only" site. Not to worry though. I searched via google using the Ledeen info, and that turned up many interesting things, which go a long way in explaining what Rove has been up to.
LARRY FRANKLIN/Michael Ledeen/Israeli SPY CASE Blown Wide Open by NIGERGATE Prosecutor
---snip (there's lot's more interesting reading)
Karl Rove’s only full-time foreign-policy advisor is Michael Ledeen, a rabid anti-Arab, anti-Iran, pro-Israel activist. The FBI is investigating Ledeen for procuring forged documents (shown here) on nonexistent WMD, which George Bush used to justify his war on Iraq.
-------
The above story appears to be a continuation of another by the same author (Clayton Hallmark), and this earlier story/ link DOES include the images of forged documents etc. referenced above. Earlier story is:
How Karl Rove Niger Forgeries for the War an In Plame Case *well worth reading*
And, as the universe would have it, I then discovered that the same meetings and events have been discussed in Cannonfire by Joseph Cannon (part of the current triumvirate)!!!!!! Observations on politics and society by Joseph Cannon. If you look at the Aug. 10 post, you'll see that he references BradBlog. Then, for the Ledeen/ Rove/ Niger forgeries, scroll down to Aug. 6.

Okay, you pasted the link into the "link URL" box, and you pasted the article title or typed your own words into the "link text" box, and then you clicked on the "generate HTML" right? And then, in the HTML box, something new popped up, white letters against blue?
Okay, move the cursor over this and right click the mouse and scroll down the popup menu to copy, and click copy; or hit CTRL C to copy. Then paste this copied HTML into the comment box for the thread. It will look weird. But, then when you click on the preview button under the comment box, you will see the link as it will actually appear when posted, and, if you click on it, it will go to the linked page.

Kira #33 - I wish I had heard you! - I seriously think it's a brilliant line of defense and could possibly be our only recourse against the thugs! I know there are plenty of tech saavy people and it seems like they could do it without being detected. And not to steal the election but like you said, make it so blatantly obvious it had been hacked, it could no longer be ignored or denied!
Peg C #42 - Chilling. If they declare Martial Law I don't believe I'll last long. I will go down fighting before I live under a military police dictatorship. If it comes I pray my dad and my dog are gone by then...
BigDan #47 - I guess I'm bi-polar because one minute I'm gettin' all heaving thinking I probably won't be here much longer, then I'm laughing out loud reading you were gonna do a "Ricky's Bio" on me!! ROFLOL!! Thanks! Needed a laugh!

Thank you, thank you, for that great link from afterdowningstreet.org. See #51 for Doug's link. I urge all to read it, if you haven't found it already.

The above evidence is strong enough to have persuaded former CIA officers Ray McGovern and Vince Cannistraro that Ledeen and his colleagues originally forged the Niger yellowcake uranium documents.

OKAY, back to Jon #8,
who mentioned liberal think tanks getting tons of funds. First I'd heard about it... however, I just ran across this WaPo article:
Rich Liberals Vow to Fund Think Tanks
----snip:
"At least 80 wealthy liberals have pledged to contribute $1 million or more apiece to fund a network of think tanks and advocacy groups to compete with the potent conservative infrastructure built up over the past three decades."

I ALWAYS simply press Ctrl C after it generates the html code --- and as VG says, the box turns blue where the new code is entered --- that means it's highlighted and ready to be copied by the Ctrl C command.
Try that & see --- we'll get you there hopefully!

To clarify - I don't move my "pointer" over the newly generated code. Just press Ctrl C. Hope that works for you.

Worse than traitors - nihilists and murderers who would destroy our lovely world and every human soul in it for a perception of POWER. Note that I distinguished "them" from "human" and "soul," with very good reason. He who loves not is an empty carcass who consumes and destroys but cannot create or truly live.

Ok - wonder what the problem is with the link thingy. Browser differences? I'll email Torqued.
In the meantime, you could try the old-fashioned way.
HTML Code for BRADBLOG -
Keep a clean copy of this code in a word document and always use a working copy:
[a href="URL" target="_blank"]Subject[/a]
Change the square brackets to and Voila!
Actually, go ahead and change out the square brackets on your clean copy. The only reason to use them here is that they won't show up when part of the html code.

I just wanted to mention:
When that idiot Bush said he wanted "intelligent design" included in curriculums alongside "evolution" to encourage the debate, I immediately realized from the way he said it that he doesn't know anything about "intelligent design", that's why he needs the debate...
Also, he and his trainers are so focussed on daily physical training...too bad they don't realize you also have to exercise your mind every day...but the spoiled, lazy rich white guy has never exercised his mind...and is now brain-dead...poor America...poor world.

"old fashioned" is great, Peg C., but at least light a candle!

I have just opened a new blogsite, which I have dubbed "Sanity and Homes." It should have to do with subsistence, survival and sane practices in the post-Cheney age. Anyway, I'm open to fellow posters. Please volunteer. Let's get something going!!!!!

VG #55,
Thank you for that link! This is good news, and re this quote from the article:
"...The group has a goal of raising $200 million --- a sum that would inevitably come in part at the expense of more traditional Democratic groups..."
No loss there, imho. It has become increasingly apparent that there is precious little difference between D's & R's in the House & Senate, with the notable exception of those alligned with Congressman Conyers.
Most others are at best negligent and/or ineffectual, at worst totally complicit in many unprosecuted crimes & rampant corruption.
I certainly hope, though, that their efforts are not directed primarily at (to quote again from article)
"...generating new ideas and communication strategies to win support from voters..."
WITHOUT seriously confronting election fraud.
Like putting a nice, new facade on the henhouse while leaving that giant, termite-riddled, rotten-wood gaping hole in the back.

World trade center building 7 and financial markets
By Christian Peper
World trade center building 7 was the third skyscraper to collapse on September 11, 2001. Fires have never before or since destroyed a steel skyscraper but the government claims fire caused the collapse. The evidence was quickly destroyed. Strangely the government rapidly recycled the steel from the most mysterious building collapse in world history. Why did outlaw government agent’s plant explosives in the buildings and then blame the collapse on fires?
World trade center building 7 was the original headquarters of the junk-bond firm Drexel Burnham Lambert. Drexel Burnham Lambert contributed to the $500-billion taxpayer-underwritten Savings and Loans bailout. Before the explosion on 9/11 the SEC, IRS, and the Secret Service were housed in building 7.
The first reason the building was destroyed is to destroy evidence. Evidence relating to 9/11 and illegal trading including the put options placed before 9/11 had to be destroyed.
The second reason building 7 was destroyed Is the building next to it at 140 west street was the hub and switch for voice and data communication for all of lower Manhattan. A clear reason for shutting down the NYSE was needed because without shutting down the markets the sell pressure would have destroyed investor’s faith in the market for years. Without question NASDAQ, Archipelago and Instinet, as well as the futures and options markets in Chicago were ready to function throughout the disaster.
9/11 was an inside job without question. The net must be cast wide and ensnare all perpetrators of this mass murder as America wakes up the truth behind 9/11.
