As we can see, not all toons are funny. Some are just the truth.

I love blogs but... I need all you Brad Bloggers to do something. Even our Canadian brothers and sisters, and other foreign fans can help by informing their friends stuck behind the "private curtain". That's us in the US. (damn, that's good! take it and run with it!)
What's next, indentured servitude and debtor's prisons? Please. I'm asking nicely. I only do that when I am being serious. I am being serious. This is serious. From the irrepressible man on fire, Digby.
Democrats.com has a nice form to e-mail your Senators to filibuster the bankruptcy bill. They are scheduled to vote tomorrow. This is a seriously egregious bill that no Democrat (Joe Biden) should back under any circumstances, but it looks like it will pass this time unless somebody filibusters.
The most amazing thing about this is that while they are drastically reducing the ability of people to get a fresh start and seize more of their assets, they are also going to allow the credit card companies to charge usury rates to these very same people. It's like something out of Dickens.
Click here if you have a few minutes, or make a call if you have more than a few minutes and make your wishes known.
Update: Julia at Sisyphus Shrugged pointed me to No More Mr Nice Blog's interesting insight into Charles "Let 'Em Eat Pancakes" Grassley's view toward Christian charity:

The toon shows the reason many in congress are able to be scared into inactivity.
But some of that will backfire.
The bankruptcy bill, for example, will hurt more people in the red states and may well turn the tide in some states in the south where the balance is close.
That factor may help in 2006 but surely will in 2008.
One thing that could be said in future campaigns is that bankruptcy is a biblical concept because in the sections of the bible where the ancient nation of Isreal's history lies, is also where the 10 commandments are popularized.
In that text every 7 years debts were forgiven by law. In the 50th year (year of jubilee) the land went back to the original family owners if they had become indebted and had to "sell" land to make due.
It could really backfire in the red states if it is explained well.
Meanwhile get rid of your credit cards and hang on. Mad cow disease is here for awhile.

Hey Winter,
I told you not to pay any attention to Frankenbush. Riverbend's back.
And oh yeah....over at Raw Story it says that Clinton is back in the hospital.

re #10. Thanks, Cheryl.
I wasn't taking him seriously. I was challenging him to back up what he was saying. He couldn't do that, as we all noticed. LOL.

More from RAW STORY today:
House Democrats set to release report blasting GOP for abuse of power
Nancy Pelosi shoots straight again:
“While this Republican administration has spoken strongly about promoting democracy around the world, the House Republican leadership is working feverishly to undermine democracy here at home,” Pelosi added.

"Democracy," to a con, is defined as ownership of the people by the powerful for the powerful. Thus, by their own lights, they are not undermining it, they are buttressing and "spreading" it. Peonage is our lot, folks, unless we can arrange a massive rennaisance of HUMAN values.
Amy Goodman had Wangari Maathai, Kenyan woman and winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize, on her broadcast today. What a very sane and enlightened woman! She's bringing as much illumination to as many people as one individual possibly can. But there need to be millions more of her. Keep thinking and blogging, everyone!

Screw them. The only way I'm voting Democrat again is if they adopt the entire Green Party platform, disarm unilaterally and refuse corporate graft.
