"Number of Gitmo detainees that the GOP hopes to keep off mainland U.S. soil with its "Keep Terrorists Out Of America Act": roughly 250."
Well, if normal naming conventions were relevant and the name was the actual statement of intent and description of the bill, then the number would be 0. The govt. would have to charge and try the detainees to establish their actual status as terrorists.
The Republicans are so lame and crazy these days.

Not to be outdone in an effort to eke out a few more minutes in the spotlight, Joe The Plumber announces he too has had enough and is leaving the Republican party.
;-) He was only in it for his 15 minutes of fame and really, he overstayed that to the point of making it painful to watch. Lotsa' luck with getting that plumbing license pal...

Of course, in Joe's case, it does raise the question of what party or militia he's leaving the GOP to join. Any ideas?
Oh God, us Libertarians will probably have to take him for a while. Then it'll be somebody else's turn...sigh.

I think the most astounding one, is the GOP/military lineup on the "liberal media"...that's not liberal.
David Brock, the reformed conservative noise-maker, on how the Right has sabotaged journalism, democracy, and truth.
As a young journalist in the 1990s, David Brock was a key cog the Republican noise machine. Writing for the American Spectator, a conservative magazine funded by billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife, Brock gained fame for his attack pieces on Anita Hill and President Bill Clinton. Then, in 2002, Brock came clean. In his memoir, Blinded by the Right, Brock admitted that his work was based on lies and distortion, and part of a coordinated smear campaign funded by wealthy right wing groups to discredit Clinton and confuse the public.
Since then, Brock has continued to expose the conservative media onslaught. In his newest book, The Republican Noise Machine, Brock documents how right-wing groups pressure the media and spread misinformation to the public. It's easy to see how this is done.
Fringe conspiracies and stories will be kept alive by outlets like Rush Limbaugh, the Washington Times, and the Drudge Report, until they finally break into the mainstream media.
Media groups like Brent Bozell's Media Research Center have spent 30 years convincing the public that the media is, in fact, liberal. As Brock says, it's all a sham: "I have seen, and I know firsthand, indeed from my own pen, how the organized Right has sabotaged not only journalism but also democracy and truth."

The proof is right in front of everyone's face: the media isn't "liberal", it's a sham.

Can people look at the proof, and honestly say that the media is liberal?
If the media is liberal, why does Democracy NOW! not look like it? Then what's Democracy NOW!??? It should look exactly like "liberal" ANBCBSNNX.

Also, when this whole "joe the plumber" thing came out, he was supposedly just "some guy", a regular Joe, in the crowd. So, how could he quit the GOP? Doesn't that mean he wasn't just "some guy", that he was a partisan GOP fabrication?
How could he quit the GOP, that implies he was in the GOP, right? How come no one's pointing this out?
So, a random Joe 6-pack from the crowd that day when Obama was there...is now "quitting the GOP", explain that!

Personally I don't think Joe W even knows what is entailed in belonging to a political party at the ward level. He's just a poser and a photo-op that got out of control. I would be surprised if he even voted in a primary prior to the last election.

I guess that "center right" line was irony/sarcasm. For a moment, I thought you were serious.
On Randi Rhodes new show (which I first heard about here): how does one get it free online? I was unable to get it yesterday. Perhaps it was volume at the L.A. station:it just kept "feeding" but never went on. No doubt, my low skills are involved, too.
