We’ve just received the following letter from Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA). She was the first to answer our urgent plea last week to immediately introduce Federal legislation in Congress for Emergency Paper Ballots to be made available at polling places this November. In the letter, she requests the BRAD BLOG community send email via her PAC website to their members of Congress in order to urge them to pass this incredibly important legislation before adjourning this week.

I’d just like to thank all of you so much for all of your hard work in fighting for safe, secure, and reliable elections in our country.
When I saw the mess in some primary states due to touch screen voter machines, I knew I had to do something. As a result of your advocacy work on this issue for a long time now, I was motivated to get a simple, straightforward paper ballot bill out there. So thank you for being on this issue for so long and for pressing for action.
The bill I introduced on Tuesday, the “Confidence in Voting Act,” would encourage local jurisdictions to make paper ballots available at every polling place to any voter who wants one. But now we’ve got to get it passed! I encourage people to join my online advocacy campaign and contact their Members of Congress, urging them to pass the “Confidence in Voting Act” before Congress adjourns this week:

We can do this — but we need to build grassroots support for our legislation to get it done.
Thanks to Brad — and to all of you — for speaking out on this issue, and for your passion in fighting for election integrity across America.
— Barbara Boxer
The good Senator has been there for us before (you’ll recall, she was the only Senator to stand up and challenge the clearly gamed 2004 Ohio Presidential Election results on Jan. 6th 2005…Back before it was fashionable to point out what virtually everyone now recogizes!) — so let’s be there for her! CLICK HERE NOW! And then pass it on! And thank you Senator!

Thanks for giving Bradblog your endorsement and support.
What the DNC could do on this issue to get the message out is to email its memebers copies of Bradblog articles. You have a large membership and email list. Implore them all to go to Bradblog. Ask the unions to email their members stories from the Brad Blog. Now is not the time to be polite. This could work. If you don’t do it you havn’t much chance of fixing things.
Dear Brad, As always Thank You for posting Senator Boxer’s letter, sent these out and had my husband do it too. I just wanted to let you know, I am going to be a POLL Judge for the November election. I went to my class on Wednesday. The first thing I noticed and asked about were all the voting machines sitting in every hall in the county building, just ringed with the yellow tape used in crime scenes. Talk about the poetic justice of that. They are already implying this is a crime scene. I did not get to ask as many questions as I would have liked, needed to get to work but I will have my eyes open on election day and will report what I see. Just one nugget for you, They couldn’t even get the class completed w/o the machine having problems, and it was NOT humid here in the midwest on Wednesday. We will be using the ess optical scan voting machines. I am really looking forward to participating as a judge by putting my money where my mouth is. I closed my business down to do this. My clients who were scheduled for 11-07-06 were very supportive of my doing this (probably just sick of hearing me talk about this subject.) I am hoping for a good turnout to see how people are feeling about what is going on in our country. The only thing that pisses me off is I have to vote early as I can not leave the polling place and it is not my polling district that I am working.
Boxer says to CONTACT your representatives in Congress. There isn’t time for letter writing or e-mailing or petitions.
CALL or VISIT them. Writing is useless and a waste of paper. E-mailing is useless and a waste of time.
CALL or VISIT your congressperson and senators, or don’t bother doing anything.
I’ll contact mine, but I have Bill Nelson of Florida, so I don’t know what good that Republican is going to do to help us. He will probably vote against paper ballots. Oh, my god how did I get stuck in this state. I need blue people.
Lisa #4,
I’m here in Florida with you & believe me, I feel your pain!! And bill nelson is not my favorite guy either. I did call his office though, & mel martinez’ office too, & kendrick meek, my rep, about this issue. Staffers at martinez’ office are always a little ‘cool’ to me, maybe because I always tell them I’m a Democrat, but I plow right into what I have to say anyway. Couldn’t hurt, & I figure maybe one day they’ll have an epiphany & switch parties. You never know.
My next call will be to Barbara Boxer with a big THANK YOU.
It is GREAT, just hot damn GREAT that Brad’s name is getting out there more & more!!! If ANYBODY deserves one of bush’s goddamn crazy MEDALS it is Brad, who has been running with this ball from the VERY BEGINNING!!!
Bless you, Brad, you’re a hero & an inspiration & we love you!

I wrote him a letter, but will call him Monday too. I just can’t believe this is going on in this country. I’m beside myself. Sometimes I feel so alone here because we have so many Republican idiots here. The only reason the Republicans aren’t having their convention here in Tampa is because they know they have this area already, so my poor cousins have to put up with them in 08 (Minnesota)) I feel for them they will have a bunch of criminals and stupid people roll in, come 08. Nelson needs to come straight with the Democrats down here and out himself as the Republican he is.
If you ever see a car with a Pro-Constitution, Anti-Bush sticker it might be me. There aren’t too many of them around here, actually I haven’t seen any other. I guess I could take it off now though because that is gone now. Man , I can’t believe this.
Gee–if six or seven green and yellow patriots could get the waters moving in the US Senate in less than a week, if a US Senator is turning to us for support, there may yet be hope for the Republic. Brad, thank you for your optimism and willingness to go forward with an idea that some considered Quixotic. The outcome has been remarkable. Whether or not the bill passes, there is a momentum here, a rallying point, that will only continue to draw energy.
Thank You Barbara, I called Sen. Hatch, Bennett, and democratic house member Matheson again with the bill numbers this time.
I asked all three how they voted on the detainee bill. All three voted yes. Sorry my state can’t seem to send better people to Washington!
