I just wanted to tell everyone about how wonderful it was to attend the Election Protection Forum in LA today, and that Brad was a Great Moderator of this Great event!
"IF THEY COULD STEAL OHIO..."
On September 16, 2006, SoCal Grassroots Presents an
Election Protection Forum,
featuring Gore Vidal,
Congresswoman Maxine Waters
and State Senator Debra Bowen:
"...THEY CAN STEAL CALIFORNIA."
were just some of the great speakers at this important event. Brad laid out the situation, like only Brad can, with humorous edge, explained so even those in such great denial could not avoid. Finally, it cause such fear in LA County, we were even graced with a speech from Connie McCormack. She didn't stay very long needless to say. I took this to say that we have hit a nerve with this great joining of activist, grassrooters, technological experts, great novelist, great representatives, soon to be the new Secretary of State, researchers, true Patriots of the Democracy and of course the NO. 1 Vote Protecting Blogger Brad Friedman!
This must continue until movements like this have joined across this nation to fight for the will of We The People!
Again, I would like to thank Brad,& his BetterHalf for helping this great event to "Rock The Boat" and stop them from "Stealing the Vote" California will not be an Ohio in 2006!
Humbly

Hunter won't be the head of the EAC, just one of four commissioners. She is taking DeGregorio's place but won't take his job as the Chair. It should go to one of the two Democrats which might be difficult because Gracia Hillman has already done that job once and the other position is empty now that Ray Martinez quit in disgust.
Her only elections experience is "assisting the RNC and state parties with HAVA". Section 203(a)(3) of HAVA says:
"Qualifications.--Each member of the Commission shall have experience with or expertise in election administration or the study of elections." Hunter is a corporate attorney; not elections. She is not qualified for this job clearly.

This is sort of off topic, but I couldn't find a better place to put it. A friend of mine who works for MassVote was just interviewed this morning on WMBR's (MIT radio) Radio with a View about voting rights and election integrity. If he hadn't called to tell me he was going to be on, I would never even have heard of this show.
The two hosts seemed so informed about so many of the issues we talk about here that I think I might be checking out this show again to see what else they have to say. The show airs from 10:00 to 11:30 Eastern time on Sunday mornings, and you can stream it at www.wmbr.org .
Have any of you ever heard this show? Maybe they'd be interested in more interviews on this topic. I don't know how much of the audience of this station, or of any particular show, is MIT students or faculty (the signal is not particularly strong, and the station never has very much money), but those are certainly people who would not be put off by the technological aspects of the problems with these machines.
